Chapter 19: O.A.S
It was a nice afternoon. Leah was almost done with her shift. Even though Tamara was way younger than her, they already became great friends. She already told Leah everything about how college is, about her foster parents, everything.
''I swear, professors expected us to act like robots!'' Tamara laughed.
''Been there! Sounds like the system hasn't changed at all. Honestly, this is why I won't even force Libby to go to college''
While they were talking, a guy came... He was wearing a hoody and a mask. Leah froze when she realized where this was going... And exactly what she feared happened. The man took out a gun and pointed it at her head.
''All the money, NOW!''
''W-Woah... W-We don't have to get aggre-
''THE MONEY! NOW!''
Tamara didn't even try to protest, she was too scared the man could do something really bad. She slowly opened the cash register, got one of the food bags and started to slowly fill it with money... And while she was doing it, the lights started to flick.
''Do criminals have to be such a big dorks? Can't you guys go find a job or something?''
The man turned around... And saw a bright ghost, sitting on the table behind him. She had red glowing eyes.
''Wh-What the hell is that thing?'' The man asked, as he pointed his gun to the ghost.
''Call me Joy... THE PHANTOM OF JOY!''
The ghost started to levitate in the air... And started to shoot lightning arcs, grabbing the man and kicking him out of the eatery. Tamara and Leah weren't moving at all, they were just watching what was happening.
Funny how Molly was mad at Libby, yet she still saved her mom from a robbery. Outside, the man was in so much pain from the electricity. Molly flew outside, right next to the man.
''So, what's gonna be? A scare? Few more shocks? Death?''
Before Molly could do anything else to the robber, a few soldiers were running towards the eatery. This was a sign she should fly away, so she did.
The soldiers saw what happened... And they could swear they saw the phantom. But when they got closer, it was gone... While the man was still in so much pain. Inside, Leah and Tamara still weren't moving, as they both tried to process what just happened.
''Uhhh... Any explanation?'' The soldier asked.
''We... Shot him?'' Leah lied.
They weren't buying it at all... Leah and Tamara both realized they won't go back home any time soon...
...
Ollie and Samantha were having a walk around Brighton... Still full of many of those weird soldiers.
''So, let me get this straight, you guys hunt down ''a phantom''? Something that... Is both human and ghost?'' Samantha asked, confused.
''Yeah! We already have a few gadgets about that troublemaker, all we need is a good plan!''
''Maybe I can help! After all, you're talking to THE PRINCESS of hunting!''
Ollie was trying his best to hold his laughter.
''Did you just make that up?''
''Hey, I AM THE PRINCESS OF HUNTING! I lived for 5 years in the wild, completely alone... Definitely alone!'' Samantha said, annoyed.
Samantha still didn't want to tell anyone about her ''friends'' she had while living in the woods. She was gonna continue to argue... But something interrupted them.
''NOOOO! GIVE IT BACK!''
They both turned around... And saw how the soldiers were confiscating the things from Weird Larry's shop.
''I'M COLLECTING ALL OF THIS FROM YEARS! GIVE IT BACK!''
''Your shop has some weird materials you hold... Too weird even for you. We'll research them to see what kind of things you hide'' One of the soldiers said, as he walked away with a box full of the stuff from Larry's shop.
3 of them took a few boxes with everything Weird Larry had... Not leaving anything for him.
''NO! GIVE IT BACK, YOU-
One of the soldiers just punched Larry in the face, causing him to fall.
''We said, we're taking all the materials that look suspicious! GET OVER IT!''
Ollie and Samantha were shocked. It hasn't been a full day since those guys came, yet they already started to boss around. Larry was still on the ground and started to tear up seeing the soldiers walking away with everything he had. Ollie was feeling so bad for him, that he walked to him and patted Larry's shoulder.
''Ugh, such a jerks! Don't worry, Larry, I'm sure you'll get your stuff back''
''I-It took me years to get all of this... But they took it for a few minutes...'' Larry sobbed.
Samantha looked scared... Because she knew those agents. They were the same agents that used to hunt skinwalkers... God knows what they'll do to her if they find out she was a skinwalker...
...
It was now getting dark. All the McGees were home. Molly was also back from her recent hero activities, while Scratch and Darryl were working on new ways to scare the nerdy group of Brighton.
Molly was keeping her sunglasses on, inside the house. She couldn't take them off, or her parents would see her glowing eyes. No idea why this was happening.
That wasn't the weirdest part. She had to change her bandages again, but when she did... She saw her veins look even worse. At this point, it was too hot to keep her arms wrapped, so she just decided to not wear them anymore.
''Guys! Dinner is ready!'' Sharon said.
Pete was waiting... And didn't take his eyes off the window. The same agents were outside the street. As everyone picked their seat, that was the first thing they noticed... Those soldiers were staring at them from the window.
''Ugh, can't they leave us to have dinner?'' Sharon asked, annoyed.
''Who are they anyway? They just appeared out of nowhere!'' Darryl said.
''Don't know, don't care! I want to eat my dinner without some idiots staring!'' Sharon said, as she got up, took the blinds down and sat back at her seat.
Even Scratch didn't know who they were. He sure knew they weren't typical military... He was actually sure they weren't normal at all. Molly was more silent than ever, because she knew why they were here... They want to hunt her down.
This wasn't fair! Her friends want to do it, now the government? Molly just wanted to help people, not to become a national target!
''Molly, do you mind taking the glasses off?'' Sharon asked.
This question made Molly shiver from fear.
''Wh-Why? Don't they look nice?''
''They do, but you can wear them now. It looks kinda lame to wear sunglasses on closed doors, doesn't it? Please, take them off...''
Molly had no idea what to do... So, she grabbed her plate, ate all the food from it in one go and got up.
''There, done, finished! I'll be in my room if you need me, BYE!'' Molly nervously laughed, as she walked upstairs to the bathroom
All of them were confused.
''Uhhhh, what was that all about?''
''Meh, teens. Always being a mystery'' Scratch said, as he stuffed his mouth with food.
A knock was heard on their door. Pete got up, scared of who might be... And there they were, 2 of those weird looking soldiers.
''C-Can I help you, gentleman?''
''Just a routine check''
''I, I'm not sure you guys can-
''Yes, of course we can'' The soldier said, as he pushed Pete out of his way and went inside.
Scratch turned invisible, while Sharon was both annoyed and confused. They didn't even tried to explain why they do that check, they just started to look around the house.
One was on the first floor, while the other went to the second. They weren't saying a word... Just looking around for some traces of the phantom they're looking for.
''Can you tell me what you two are doing?'' Sharon asked, angry.
''None of your business, ms...''
''EXCUSE ME? You come into my house, pretend like there isn't anyone here, and you tell me it's none of my business? That's it, out of my home, NOW!''
The soldier pointed his weapon at her... And loaded it.
''I'm not sure what part of ''none of your business'' you didn't understand. We'll stay here as long as we need, got it? Or should I bleed you up?''
Everyone was shocked. The way how cold he just threatened to kill her looked sick. Sharon didn't even think to move or protest.
In the meantime on the second floor, Molly was still in the bathroom to take a look on her eyes again. Still glowing. She opened the door... And saw that soldier in front her, causing her to immediately put her glasses on.
''H-Hello!'' Molly nervously greeted.
No response, which was creeping her out even more. The strange thing is... The soldier didn't continue with his search around... He started to stare at Molly like he was suspecting something.
''Hey, #19, can you come over here?''
The soldier with the loaded gun followed him upstairs... Surrounding Molly.
''What's the matter?''
''Mind giving me the radar?'' The soldier asked, as the other one immediately gave him what he asked for.
It was a little strange widget with green and red lights. He pointed it to Molly. Weird how he was feeling something isn't right with the girl... And he was sure something wasn't when the red light activated.
''You have to come with us!'' The soldier said, as he grabbed Molly by the arm and started to drag her downstairs.
''WHAT? WAIT, WAIT, WAIT-
Molly's entire world collapsed in front of her eyes. That's it... They caught her.
''Hey, what do you think you're doing? Leave my daughter!'' Sharon said, grabbed Molly's other hand.
''The radar detects something, we're taking her away''
''OH NO YOU DON'T! That's it, traspasing is one, but messing with us is a whole new level! LEAVE, NOW!''
''W-Wait... I accidentally electrocuted myself the other day... C-Could this trigger that thing?'' Molly asked, as she was on the verge to tear up under her sunglasses.
The soldiers thought about it. The radar only detects the kind of energy the phantom has, so it shouldn't detect any other. Without saying a word, they pointed it to Molly again.
That's it, Molly realized she HAS to control whatever energy is left in her. She started to... Just hold. Hold every muscle in her body, take deep breaths, ANYTHING to control herself... And the radar's green light activated.
''Huh... Probably a malfunction...'' The soldier said, as he let Molly go, causing her to hide in her mom's hug.
Scratch was on the verge of scaring them out of here. Who were they to think the can disturb families like that? He still controlled himself, as the agents left... Leaving Molly in complete shock.
This was the moment she realized she has to be careful. She'll sneak out secretly, without grabbing their attention. She didn't even know who they are... But she knew what may happen to her if they catch her.
