My eyes slowly open and everything I see is a sterile white. Also, the room is quite cold, but I myself am warm and cozy.

Strange, if I am in Heaven I thought it'd be more colorful and floral. I wrinkle my nose as a medicinal type smells burns my nose. So maybe this isn't Heaven after all, and I am not dead….

"Sabine?" I croak in surprise as Sabine Cheng sits down besides my bed with a small bowl of colorless liquid, the stuff that smells. "They contacted us after you and Ladybug defeated Corvus. She's with Tom. Now, hold still and try not to hiss."

I do as I'm told, though when the cleaning alcohol first touches my skin, I give a slight jerk from its sting. "Before you two blacked out, Corvus gave you two quite a few scraps and bruises from his beak and claws, so we have to monitor and clean them daily so they don't get infected."

"We really defeated him?" It doesn't seem real, like we're getting treated, then head back out to battle, but now we're at peace. "He defeated himself. Evil and greed never pay off in the end." I give this a little think.

"So, does that mean I have to give away all my money?" I'm not exactly sure how much Father was worth, because of course I never thought of him like that, but my cousin inherited his father's money and Felix is a billionaire.

Sabine laughs softly. "No, honey. If anyone you are a cheerful giver with your time, talents, and heart. Look just how much you've done for Paris." I give her a lopsided grin. "Whew, because I want to whisk Marinette away to a private island to live." "Sounds like paradise," Sabine sets aside the dirty water bowl. I blush, now feeling ashamed. Marinette will certainly miss her parents after we marry, and them even more so. What was I thinking?

"I don't know everything like Marinette does, Adrien, but I can see we're the both of you want to make new memories. I'm offended at all." "Can you read my thoughts?" my mouth drops open. "Hey, I'm a mom! And no, but your facial expression said it all."

"I don't need anything but a family and my Marinette," I whisper. "And I hope to give her a family." "I have no doubt you'll make excellent parents both of you." She stands up, tossing the dirty water down the sink.

"Do you have to leave?" My throat is growing dry. I don't want to be alone. She comes over, brushing my hair away of my forehead and giving it a gentle kiss. "I'll be back as I soon as I make your dinner. Don't worry, honey, I'll never abandoned you."

The words comfort me like the cozy blanket I'm lying under, and suddenly let out a huge yawn. Before I know it, I am again, fast asleep.

I follow a white nightgown, rubbing sleep from my eyes. The figure must hear behind it, and when it turns, its Mother! With a cry of joy I start to run towards her arms, but no matter how fast I go, I can never catch up to her.

I wake shaking, and tears roll down my face. Sabine comes back in with a tray just like she promised but she hurries to my side once she sees my tears.

"Oh, Adrien, my Adrien, what's wrong?" "I want my mother. We're is she?" Sabine comforts me by sitting beside me and holding me close. I tell her about my nightmare, and my relationship with my father. It all comes out. If anyone can know the pain and loneliness I felt, Sabine should be the one to hear.

"Am I still wrestling with ghosts?" I whisper to know in particular. "You won't be alone much longer as when you marry Marinette, you'll have her and have a family that loves you ever since we met you."

"Thank you," I take a deep breath. "I know we both intended to marry in Paris, but I think it would to do it here. Like you said, make new memories." Sabine smiles. "I think that can be arranged, though there is one more thing you have to do," she smiles. "Propose?" I already have a ring. "No, talk to Tom!" I burst into laughter, the pressure easing from my chest.

When we are finally released the care unit, I find Tom, reading a cookbook by the fire. I clear my throat, my palms are beginning to sweat. "Tom, may I have a word?" Tom looks up to see me standing there, and smiles. "Adrien, my boy! Of course! Let's walk out in the gardens!"

The talk with Tom went better then expected, and I think he knew this was coming all along. I thought with that off my chest for the night, I would be able to sleep, but no.

I pace my room and finally transforming into my suit, I go to find if Marinette is awake. "You couldn't sleep either, huh?" she hugs me, and I bury my face in her face, the smell of her strawberry shampoo calming. "Yeah. I think there's a small beach near the Temple. I'll understand…" my sentence is cut off as she's already leading me from the room.

The beach is beautiful and sliver in the moonlight, and Marinette skips into the shallows. I join her. "What's this, some kind of water dance?" "Yeah, it goes like this!" she kicks her leg up, spraying me in the face and I look at her, water dripping down my chin.

"Adrien...I…." Marinette pauses, but then doubles over in laughter. "Oh, I'll show you a water dance, Princess!"

A splash fight ensues, drenching both of us, and its hard to run while you laughing. Marinette trips, and I stumble after her, landing in the soft sand of the shallows, shielding her fall.

"Are you hurt, no bones broken?" She shakes her head, and finds my lips. "Marinette," I breathe and she palms my cheeks. "Marry me?" Droplets of water join the million in the ocean. "Oh, Adrien, yes."

She looks so beautiful in the sliver moonlight, and just like always this wasn't the plan to propose like this. But she looks so lovely even a soggy mess. I help her up, and we hold hands as we head back to our rooms in search of dry clothes and warm socks.

We promise to meet at my door first thing in the morning, and with one last kiss, we bid each other goodnight.
