Chapter 31: WrestleMania Rewind: Encounter
Monday Night Raw: Bradley Center - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, March 10, 2008 (21 days, 3 weeks until WrestleMania)
Jeff Hardy stepped out of Vince McMahon's office and sighed as he closed the door behind him, looking down at his Intercontinental Championship and shaking his head.
"Well... what did they say?"
Jeff looked to his left to find Kerry looking at him through steely blue eyes, staring blankly at him, not a hint of emotion on her face.
The young woman was wearing a black hoodie jacket over a white tank top, and dark high-waisted ripped jeans that showed off her slender, deceptively strong legs, with a pair of black sliver studded ankle-high heeled boots to finish off the look. It looked like she had just finished up with the glam squad, as black eyeshadow made her icy blue eyes stand out to a terrifying degree and black lipstick painted her lips.
Jeff sighed before answering.
"Starting tomorrow, I'm suspended for sixty days," he told her. Her lack of a reaction to that made him a touch apprehensive. "I have to drop the title to Chris tonight."
Uncomfortable silence was the only response he got, before the blonde-haired woman finally spoke.
"How could you fuck this up Jeff?" Kerry whispered, before shaking her head and sighing. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that."
Jeff ran a hand through his hair, silent. Kerry stared at him, a whirlwind of emotions spiraling within her. She was angry, sad, disappointed, but most of all concerned. And she didn't know how to convey these emotions without falling into a rant.
Something she didn't want to do. She knew that wasn't what Jeff needed right now. Not knowing quite what to say, Kerry simply stared at the man before sighing.
"See you in sixty days Jeff."
The Charismatic Enigma watched as the blonde turned on her heel, walking wordlessly away. He could tell she was disappointed in him. Anybody could see that.
He half expected her to snap at him. He couldn't help but think he would rather have had her cause a scene and yell at him. It wouldn't have hurt as much as the silence and the short words.
. . . .
"News sure does travel fast," Jenna said as she sat with her sister in the canteen. Sheree sat on the table, her legs crossed over the other.
Sheree wore a tank top version of her red lettered "Headstrong" T-shirt with the back of the shirt sliced into loose shreds, showing off her bare back. She also wore dark cargo pants and black Nike sneakers with the tick in pink.
Her twin was wearing a white "Blackbird" Alter Bridge shirt and leather pants tucked into knee high boots. A black leather jacket hung against the chair she sat at. She was looking through her notes for tonight's special WrestleMania rewind episode. "Eventful way to start huh."
"I don't like it," Sheree stated, a frown on her face as she watched officials and wrestlers alike mingle amongst themselves in the busy canteen.
Jenna sighed. "I know you don't like gossip, but it's inevitable Sheree."
The brunette Bostonian stayed silent at that, knowing her twin sister was right. She still didn't like it though.
"He's been through a lot. He doesn't deserve to have people talking about him behind his back," Sheree commented.
Jenna hummed, silently agreeing.
"Nothing can be done about it now. He fucked up. Point blank."
Sheree looked briefly behind her, just in time to see Kerry approaching their table, her face emotionless. "He doesn't deserve your sympathy to be honest."
Jenna winced at that but didn't say a word, continuing to look through her notes.
As Kerry approached them, Sheree caught a couple of wrestlers whispering and chuckling as they looked in Kerry's direction, watching as she sat down with the Huxley twins.
"Hey did you hear?"
"About Jeff? Yeah."
"That too. But apparently Jessie and a certain blondie got in trouble for that stunt last week."
The nosey loudmouth's buddy chuckled, eyeing the blonde smugly.
"What a bunch of idiots, everybody knows they wouldn't have gotten away with something that violent."
"They were clearly going into business for themselves. Nobody wants to see women doing stuff like that."
"Hey."
The two men flinched as they noticed Sheree staring a hole through them, her blue eyes intense. "You got something you wanna share with the rest of us?"
Jenna's eyes widened at the sudden base in her sisters' voice, whirling around. "Sheree-"
The brunette held her hand up, silencing her twin without taking her eyes off the two mouthy males. Kerry stayed silent, not even looking in the direction of the two gossipers.
One of them smirked. "We were just-"
His buddy stopped him from approaching the brunette with a hand on his chest, his eyes wide with fear as he stared at the young woman. "Don't dude. That's the Huxley chick!"
"So?"
"I don't want any trouble with that brand of crazy!" he whispered harshly. "Look at the look in her eyes!"
Dumb and Dumber gulped as Sheree glared at them, scowling faintly, clearly not amused by their comments.
"I'd beat it if I were you," Kerry suddenly spoke, not once did she look their way. "I don't want to find out what this brand of crazy is like when she's angry."
The duo quickly scampered away, caught off guard by the sudden intensity and anger in Sheree's eyes. It wasn't something they were used to nor was it something they wanted to get used to.
Sheree watched them leave, before turning to Kerry.
"Thanks," Kerry commented with a look of amusement. "Though that Huxley anger of yours is kinda scary."
Jenna chuckled while Sheree smiled nervously.
"Trust me, she can get even worse than that," the black-haired Bostonian quipped.
"Quiet you," Sheree retorted with a roll of her eyes, before turning her attention to Kerry. "I've ran into guys like that all over the industry. Dealing with them is a pain though."
Sheree frowned as she thought about what those gossipers were talking about. "What was that all about anyway?"
Kerry chuckled. "Apparently a woman choking and hanging another woman over the ropes with a steel chain is too violent for 'Divas' to be doing."
"Are you serious?!" Sheree exclaimed.
"I thought things would change with Dray and Christy in charge," Christy mumbled, a touch annoyed.
"Really?" Kerry smirked at this. "They may steer the ship but they're not the captain. Vince and his stooges are set in their ways. As long as they are here, that glass ceiling will always be there."
Sheree frowned and sighed at this. "The same old bullcrap huh…"
"Yeah… It's clear at least to me that this wasn't what they wanted," Kerry replied, stretching her arms up. "But I don't care. I told those old dudes they can shove it."
At this, both Huxleys stared at the woman in shock.
"What?!" Sheree exclaimed.
"Kerry are you out of your mind?!" Jenna exclaimed.
Kerry just shrugged, a huge smirk on her face. "I don't care what those old losers or these lousy gossipers think."
She looked back at Sheree, her icy blue eyes meeting the brunettes own blue eyes, her smirk widening almost egotistically.
"I do what I want."
Sheree's blue eyes widened at this.
"That's a bit of a dangerous mentality to have don't you think?" Jenna questioned in worry. "I heard you both got fined…"
"We did, but I don't care. My dangerous mentality gets the job done!" Kerry commented with a chuckle. "Besides, I'm not the one who's suspended for sixty days."
"You're mad at him," Jenna stated. Kerry frowned.
"No," the New Yorker replied. There was a pause. "Yes."
The blonde groaned. "No..."
Sheree raised an eyebrow as the New Yorker ran a hand through her short-haired locks. "This is the second time. And it's worse cuz all signs clearly pointed to him winning Money in the Bank this year."
Jenna briefly looked up from her notes. "You really think he would have won it?"
"With the roll he had been on lately, I wouldn't have been surprised," Sheree commented. "The fans love the guy. No way would Vince pass on that."
Kerry shook her head. "He was doing so well. And now he just..."
Kerry looked down at the table and breathed in, attempting to keep her emotions in check.
"Hey." Sheree placed a hand on the blonde's shoulder, smiling reassuringly at her as she looked up at the brunette. "He'll be fine. He'll be right back on track when the sixty days are up."
"Besides, this could do him some good," Jenna commented. "He hasn't seen his girlfriend in a while."
"I hope she grills him for this," Kerry muttered, making the twins chuckle.
Sheree hopped off the table, stretching out her limbs. She looked up at the clock and smirked.
"Well I wish I could stay ladies but I've got things to do," the brunette Bostonian said, winking at Kerry.
"What things? Didn't you say everything was ready for tonight's show?" Jenna commented, still looking over her notes.
"Let's just say I'm working on something," Sheree replied, smirking mischievously at her sister.
Jenna snapped her head up, looking over her shoulder to stare at the smirk on her sister's face with concern. "What? Working on what?! What are you up to?!"
Sheree snickered at her sister's response. "Relax. It's nothing dangerous."
"That doesn't help Sheree!" the black-haired woman called out, watching as her sister began to leave. "At least tell me what you're working on!"
The only response she got was a very Jane Huxley-like cackle that even made Kerry look back at the brunette with amusement, watching as Sheree escaped through the canteen entrance and disappeared. "Sheree!"
Jenna looked at the blonde woman before her, her eyes wide.
"I don't like that," she said, pointing in the direction her sister had gone. "I don't like that at all!"
Kerry simply laughed, the antics of the two siblings lifting her mood a bit.
. . . .
Hours later, RAW on air...
"Welcome back to this special three hour WrestleMania Rewind edition of Monday Night Raw," Jim Ross said as Papa Roach played throughout the arena to a great hand, the Milwaukee fans cheering as the camera's panned throughout the arena, before panning to the smiling faces of JR, Jerry Lawler and Jenna. "We are 3 weeks away from the biggest night of the year, WrestleMania in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida."
"It's already been a hell of a night, and we are just getting started because later tonight the weigh-in between the Big Show and Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr will take place before their big match in the Citrus Bowl."
"Oh boy! Talk about tension," Jenna chuckled.
"Speaking of tension... what about the tension between Melina and your sister, Jenna," King commented, getting an "oof" from the young woman in response.
"As we head towards WrestleMania, the simmering rivalry over the WWE Women's Championship between these two young ladies," JR started as a moving match graphic appeared on screen, showing Melina and then Sheree, before showing them both side by side. "The up and coming 2nd Generation Diva Sheree Louise and the vicious, arrogant Women's Champion Melina, has gotten more and more personal as we get closer and closer to the Grandest Stage of Them All, and it may have just reached the boiling point."
"Last week on Raw, Melina set up an ambush for Sheree, leaving her laying in the middle of the ring a week after she exposed the family lineage of Sheree and my broadcast partner here with us. I STILL can't wrap my head around the fact you two are the daughters of Hellcat Huxley and The Salamander!" King exclaimed, making Jenna grumble in slight annoyance.
"I still would like to know where she got all that information," Jenna retorted bitterly, clearly not liking her personal life being out in the open. "But last Monday wouldn't be the only time these two women would collide."
"Ladies and Gentlemen, what we are about to show you is footage from last night's Sunday Night Heat episode," JR added.
. . . .
Last Night: Sunday Night Heat Exclusive
Melina stood in the ring with a beaten Mickie James at her feet, her music cutting off as she was handed a microphone, her Women's Title resting over her left shoulder.
She raised the microphone to her lips and paused as the Indiana crowd gave her a mixed reaction.
She lowered her mic hand for a moment, seemingly contemplating something, before smiling wildly and staring into the camera.
"Hey Jane!"
Melina's smile widened mischievously as the crowd reacted with shock at her audacity.
"I really hope you are paying attention. Because this," the Latina drawled, the fans beginning to boo as she gestured towards Mickie's stirring form. "Is just a taste of what I'm gonna do to your precious little daughter!"
"And I meant every word I said last week," Melina added, smiling smugly as the crowd got more heated. "You are just a failure, with a loser for a daughter!"
The fans released an 'Oooh!' at that, their jeering and booing increasing in volume as Melina continued to stare a hole through the hard camera, her smile widening even more. "And in a few weeks, the underdog story of Sheree Louise..."
The look in the current champion's eyes turned dangerous as she sneered into the camera, holding the WWE Women's Title up over her head with one hand. "Will become nothing more than a fantasy when she steps into MY world and realizes that she will never be on my level!"
Melina smiled arrogantly, lowering the title and leaning forward a bit, ignoring the fans as their boos got even more louder.
"See you at WrestleMania, bitch!"
The fans released an 'Ohh!' at that and booed as Melina dropped the microphone.
"A complete lack of respect from our Women's Champion," JR retorted with distaste as the replay then showed Melina positioning Mickie for the Primal Scream, smirking as the fans continued to boo. She released her infamous shriek as the fans began to yell out passionately, rising to their feet. "But her audacity may have finally reached its boiling point!"
Melina's eyes widened as black fingerless gloved hands wrapped around her ankles. She released Mickie, the fans screaming as the gloved hands pulled and sent the Women's Champion face-first into the mat.
Melina hit the mat, the crowd cheering loudly as Sheree, her face full of rage, pulled a wide-eyed Melina out of the ring by her legs.
The brunette Bostonian was wearing her red-lettered, black shredded tank top version of her 'Headstrong' T. She also wore black leather pants and ankle-high boots. "Because Sheree came out of nowhere to beat the hell out of Melina!"
"This was a long time coming," Jenna said as Melina landed on her feet and whirled around, being immediately rocked in the face with angry vicious forearms, the fans cheering as Sheree aggressively assaulted the champion against the apron, the crowd releasing a loud 'Ohhh!' as Sheree tossed Melina into the steel ring steps. "After everything she has said about my family, my mother, the attacks on Sheree! She deserved every ounce of this beating!"
"Melina embarrassed Sheree," JR added. "Publicly aired out her personal life and shamed her entire family!"
"I just wonder what Melina's goal is here..." King commented in concern.
The footage skipped ahead to show Sheree bolting past the announce table, the Indiana fans releasing a loud 'OHHH!' as Sheree bolted forward, launching Melina back-first into the right barricade wall with a running shotgun dropkick as she turned around.
"Cuz if her goal is to piss off the daughter of an infamous, ill-tempered maniac, then she's succeeding!"
Sheree released a loud roar as she shot back up onto her feet, the fans roaring back passionately as Melina laid on her side against the barricade, her eyes wide as she stared at Sheree through glassy eyes. "Man..."
"This is ultimately about WrestleMania," JR said, as the footage skipped ahead to show both Mickie and the referee attempting to calm Sheree down.
Sheree closed and opened her blue eyes, glaring at Melina who was now lying prone and trying to lift her body off the floor. Mickie's eyes widened as the cold edge in Sheree's blue eyes sharpened to a dangerous degree. " And the WWE Women's Championship."
Mickie was heard yelling out to Sheree to stop as the young brunette broke away from the veteran and the official, rushing towards the prone champion, the fans cheering as she roughly pulled the Latina back up onto her feet.
The Headstrong Diva tossed Melina back into the ring, sliding in after the woman.
The fans booed as Melina rolled hastily towards where she left her title with an angry Bostonian hot on her heels and slid out of the ring.
"Sheree wants to be champion. She wants so badly to take the title that is in Melina's possession."
The Paparazzi Princess stumbled back, shaking her head to clear out the cobwebs, before staring at Sheree with a small scowl. "Melina will do whatever it takes to remain champion, especially on the Grandest Stage!"
Sheree kicked the bottom ropes in furious frustration, glowering down at the Latina with her hands gripping the top ropes as the fans continued to boo the champion's retreat.
Sheree glared at the retreating champion, watching as the Latin American backed up the ramp with a snarl, favouring the corner of her mouth as she glowered at the Boston brunette, the video footage beginning to end with the two adversaries glaring heatedly at each other.
"If that means pushing Sheree's buttons, then that's exactly what she will do. Ideal or not. Family ties be damned!"
The fans cheered as Sheree was shown walking down the dark halls of the Bradley Center with a glare on her face.
The woman suddenly paused and came to a stop, her guarded and tense posture rising as she glared at the source of her attention.
"If you're looking for an apology, you ain't gettin' one," the Bostonian said firmly.
The fans immediately booed as Randy Orton stepped into view, staring down at the young woman with a cold gaze, the WWE Championship being held over his right shoulder.
"Oh no..." Jenna whispered fearfully.
The two stared at each other for a few silent moments, making the fans in the arena nervous, before a sly smirk began to stretch across Orton's face.
"Relax," the WWE Champion said. "I just wanted to properly introduce myself to you."
The sly champion held his hand out, and after a few moments of staring, Sheree slowly and apprehensively took it.
"WWE Champion Randy Orton," he drawled, staring into Sheree's hard blue eyes, before bending down towards her hand.
His sly smile widened as Sheree snatched her hand away before he could kiss it, now glaring at him with disgust.
Orton slowly leaned back up to his full height, smirking at the irritated woman. "The man you kicked in the face two weeks ago."
The fans cheered at being reminded of that, and Sheree's upper lip briefly twitched upwards at the faint look of annoyance on the champion's face, before he managed to regain his composure.
"You know, I would never have guessed that you and I would have so much in common," Orton drawled slyly, making Sheree narrow her eyes. "You are a 2nd Generation Diva. A rare breed. I am a 3rd Generation Superstar."
"Who would have thought that the daughters of Hellcat Huxley and David the Salamander were right under everybody's nose this entire time, right?"
Sheree didn't respond, tilting her head a bit, her blue eyes icy. Orton smiled.
"Now I know there's a bit of controversy with how everyone's wondering if they were really that well known but... personally, I have always known about your family. A lot of people back here know about them in fact."
"Really..." Sheree muttered. Her face was stony, not giving away any emotion or interest in his words at all.
"Yeah... I've heard all kinds of stories about your family over the years," Orton replied, chuckling briefly. "At one point I wondered if they even existed. They were kind of a fable. The old guys back here talked about them in whispers. Heck... Ric stayed clear away from talking about them all together."
A sly grin started to form on Randy's face as Sheree's irritation began to shine through her impassiveness once again.
"Huh. Melina might have been on to something when she said you came from a family of black sheep nobody gives a damn about."
Sheree glared darkly at Orton, making his smirk widen gleefully at the sight.
"Oof," JR muttered quietly as the fans winced at that jab, watching as Sheree poked the inside of her cheek with her tongue and stared a hole through the smirking WWE Champion.
"What do you want Randy?" she drawled, though by her tone of voice, it was clear to everyone watching and especially Randy, that she was thoroughly done with this conversation.
"What do I want?" the champion replied with sickening innocence. "Nothing. But... I do think you deserve to know this."
Randy stared deep into Sheree's eyes. "After you... kicked me in the face, the higher ups were going to suspend you."
Sheree's eyes widened and the fans booed at this reveal.
"The higher ups are... traditionalists," Randy explained. "You see there is a hierarchy here in the WWE and a Diva kicking the WWE Champion is well.. a serious offence in their eyes."
"You probably would have completely missed your first ever WrestleMania, and then your one shot at possibly becoming a champion would have been ruined," he told her with a small shrug, before smiling slyly at her. "Your one chance to cement your family legacy shattered."
"You would have been punished and used as an example to the rest of the Divas locker room as to why you all should... know your place."
Randy didn't miss the way Sheree's blue eyes darkened at that comment, nor the way her entire presence was shrouded in a simmering rage that was ready to blow. He liked that. He liked that a lot. "That is, if it wasn't for me intervening and telling them not to."
"What...?" Jenna muttered, shocked as Sheree stared at the champion in slight confusion.
"You're probably wondering why I would do that..." Orton guessed with a viper-like grin. "Well just like me... you are cut from a different cloth to everybody else. You're special. Your potential is out of this world."
"It's very rare for a woman in this business to have what you have. I couldn't possibly get in the way of that." The smile on Randy's face began to creep the brunette Bostonian out as he stared at her with soulless eyes. "Potential such as yours should be nurtured."
Sheree looked away from Orton, absorbing what he said. To the fans surprise the woman smirked and chuckled, staring Orton down with a touch of amusement.
"Is this the part where I thank you for being a gracious champion?" the Bostonian asked, making Randy's smile widen just a tad.
"You can bite me!"
The smile was wiped off Orton's face at that, his eyes widening slightly as Sheree looked up at him with a vicious smirk. "And I'll never regret kicking you in the face!"
"Wow..." King commented as the fans applauded the woman.
Sheree watched with amusement as Orton scowled down at her, his temper beginning to boil, before to her confusion, his temper suddenly vanished, and he smiled at her instead, confusing the fans and the commentators as well.
"I like a woman with fire in their eyes," the WWE Champion commented, making Sheree scowl in disgust. "I'm glad you don't regret kicking me."
Sheree's scowl deepened as she suddenly found herself eyeball to eyeball with the venomous champion, who was now a little too close for her liking, making her fingers twitch. She had to will herself not to ball up her fists.
"Cuz I certainly will NEVER forget it!" he growled in the Bostonian's face, before leaning away from her.
He turned on his heel and began to walk away, allowing Sheree to release the breath she didn't realize she was holding, before the man suddenly paused. "I almost forgot..."
Sheree's fists clenched tightly as Orton looked back at her with a wide smile.
"Good luck in your Gauntlet Match later on tonight."
Sheree raised a brow of confusion as the fans erupted into boos at that.
"Gau-" the brunette Bostonian's next words were caught in her throat, staring at Orton with wide eyes as she suddenly remembered that the cunning WWE Champion was in charge of RAW for the night. Orton smiled evilly at the realization that crossed her face.
"I sure do hope that you find that potential of yours," Orton said, looking down on the woman before him, a venomous look in his eyes that nearly made her sick. "I'd HATE it if you made a liar out of me."
With his malicious intent satisfied for the moment, Orton turned and left, leaving a rattled and angered Sheree alone in the dark halls.
"You've gotta be kidding me..." Jenna blurted out in shock and anger.
"Is he serious?!" King exclaimed as Sheree ran her hands through her hair, her blue eyes hardening with shock and rage.
"The wickedness of Randy Orton holds no bounds," JR spat with distaste.
'Goodbye *mwah!* and Goodnight! BANG!'
