Chapter 8: The Goddess Of Luck, Eris/ The Chivalrous Thief, Chris

A void. A space full of emptiness. No matter, no quirks, no molecules, no atoms. Nothing. It was a vast space which stretched far and wide. No light was visible, only darkness. A vacuum which holds nothing but emptiness.

Arise.

In the room full of darkness, came a glowing light which emerged from the empty space. A body with devine features begin to form, hair which was long and silky began to grow, and a mind which was full of wonders and curiosity began to take place. The light dimmed down, only leaving a floating body with no clothes, their eyes closed shut with a very calm face.

Awake.

Their eyes began to open.

"Hmm?" They groaned. The voice sounded feminine. It seems that this being was considered to be a "woman".

"Who... what, am... I?" At first, she wanted to ask who this mysterious person awoke her, but now she realizes her voice, then her body, then her mind.

"What is this?" She thought. What is this vision that she sees through? What is this tingly feeling she has when she touches her hands and skin? What is this sensation she feels in her mouth? How did she hear something? Did it come from her two holes on her side? What is this sweet smell she keeps sniffing up? Many of these questions run through her mind.

Yes, her mind, it has many questions indeed. How did she process these questions? How did she come up with it? How can she communicate and know words when she hasn't learned any language yet? How did she even know language to begin with? Why was her skin glowing? Why was there empty darkness Infront and all around her? What is this 'mind' that she thinks of?

Calm down.

There it is again, that voice. It was calming. It was soothing. She could tell it held high authority and demand every ounce of respect. Yet, she could tell that it was humble, and that even if you didn't show respect, it would still talk to you with kindness. "Who are you?" She spoke, this time more clearly and composed.

I am God. The creator.

"God," She said, "Who am I?"

Eris.

"Eris. That is my name." She said to herself. "Why am I here?"

I created you. I wanted you to be here.

"Then what am I supposed to do?"

Well, you're supposed to be overseeing a world that I will create but seeing as to how early your creation is, it will be a couple of a hundred years before your duty comes. So for now, you will interact with my other creations.

Eris had a lot of information dumped right at her, but it was easy to process with this 'mind'. A world to oversee, other creations which God created, she wanted to see it all. She guessed that this was called 'curiosity'.

For now, I will introduce you to my angel Jibril, he will be introducing you to the orders here in heaven.

So that's the name of this place, heaven. From thin air, a majestic body with pure white wings and silky brown hair emerged. It seems that this being was called Jibril.

"Hello there," they spoke, they had a masculine voice, it seems that they are called a 'Man'. "I am Jibril, the angel that brings good news." He introduced himself.

"I am here to introduce you to Heaven and what we do here. There are many creations father created here. From more gods and goddesses, to angels and man. I am thrilled to tell you."

"Hmm, then may I meet these creations you speak of?" Eris asked.

"While they are called creations, I prefer you called them your friends."

"Friends?" What are they, she thought. Is it some synonym? Is it what they call it if you have a close bond? She wondered what friends truly are.

"Come I will show you." Jibril took a glance at her before saying. "Maybe we should dress you up first."

"Dress?" She took a look at herself. "What is a 'dress'?"

"This is a dress." Suddenly, a high end woven dress was put on to the clueless girl. She wore a white and purple hagoromo, with yellow trimmings that go slightly past her knees. She wore purple shoes and white stockings. She also wore a beautiful necklace with a pink diamond shaped jewel. On her head dawned a purple coif.

"A dress is a garment or clothing which is worn by a person." Jibril explained to her.

"Hmm, it's very beautiful." Eris admired herself. The clothing was fit, and it was comfortable to move around.

"Now, shall we go and meet our friends?" Jibril offered as he opened a door with light coming out from it.

"I shall." She said. The two holy beings pass through the gates. On the other side, awaits a golden gate, with a person beside it with wings and a halo above his head. He wore a Knightley outfit, with a spear by his side. His long hair was a fiery red, and his facial features were masculine. He also strikes a short beard, which was also the same color as his hair

"Halt, who is beside you Jibril?" The man spoke with fierce ferocity. His spear hit the ground, and his wings extended.

"Calm down Ridwan, she's just another creation father created." Jibril answered, his forehead forming a bead of sweat.

Jibril sighed, "Sorry about that." He then turned around to face her. "He is Ridwan, the angel that guards heaven's gate." He introduced her to the angel.

"Ridwan," He turned around to face Ridwan this time, "Meet Eris, I don't know what title she will have." Jibril rubbed the back of his head.

"Title?" Eris mumbled.

"Oh, then I'm sorry for overreacting. I hope you understand." Ridwan apologized and bowed slightly.

"No no, it's alright Mr. Ridwan." Eris then rushed Infront of him and frantically explained to him that it's no big deal.

After a few seconds of frantic apologies, Ridwan let's the angel and being through the gate. Inside, was what they call 'paradise'.

It is truly a work of beauty. Lush green valleys with beautiful flora. Rivers that traverse through the valleys. The rivers themselves all looked different. One was made of water, one was made of milk, and another was made of wine. Above all the rest was a sun shining on them. Not too hot and not too cloudy. Just the perfect temperature.

"My goodness, it truly is a beauty." Eris admired the lush and wonderful landscape of heaven.

"Come, let me show you the inhabitants of Heaven." Jibril said as he walked down the green grass.

After walking for a bit, the two beings soon met the beings that harbor this place.

Eris had met the angels, Mikail, the caretaker of heaven and this place called earth. He basically does some occasional watering like rain and stuff. Then she met Izrail. He takes away the life of many, things like animals, plants and humans. Another was Israfel. He says he's gonna play the trumpet, but hasn't done it yet for some reason. She was told that they're were many more angels, but they were currently busy as of now.

"Who's that?" She pointed to a masculine man with a curly white beard and matching hair.

"Oh um, I don't know who that is. Maybe we should -" Jibril spoke before he was rudely interrupted.

"Hi there pretty lady!" The masculine man was the one to interrupt Jibril. The angel himself sighed in tiredness.

"Hello there mister. Might I ask who you are?" Eris asked innocently.

"I'm surprised you don't know who I am. I am Zeus, the god of lightning." He answered, flexing his arms and showing his white teeth. Lightning flashed in the clouds above them as be spoke.

"Say, are you single?" The god of lightning asked.

"Okay that's enough! Come Eris, we are leaving." Jibril then shot back up and dragged Eris away.

"Aww, I thought I was getting another wife."

"I am so sorry about that Eris. Zeus really can't keep it to himself." Jibril apologized to the clueless being.

Apparently, Zeus is the god of lightning. He is masculine, tall and most of all, arrogant. He has tons of women to sleep with, and shows his pride whenever he sees a pretty lady. He says that all the other gods and angels are weak, and that every woman and goddesses are for his pleasure. All in all, he's a pretty huge douchebag, Jibril explained.

"Let's just go this way shall we." Jibril said as they traversed through a forest.

As they passed the tall trees of heaven, they soon found a woman who was walking and admiring her sceneries. Her hair was curly and tied into a neat bun. Her robes was pure white like milk and extended far past her feet.

"Oh, hello there Jibril." The woman saw the two beings strolling towards her and greeted them. "Who is that beautiful person beside you."

"She is Eris." He answered, "Eris, meet Demeter, the goddess of agriculture. She oversees all plant life."

"Nice to meet you Ms. Demeter." Eris bowed slightly.

"Oh please don't bow or call me miss. Just call me Demeter." She slightly chuckled. "Say, are you another of father's creations?"

"Yes she is. I'm just showing her around Heaven is all." Jibril answered for her. "Well, we'll be going now." The angel bid farewell, and the two set off and travelled deeper into the forest. The goddess of agriculture waved goodbye as she saw the two leave.

For a while, Eris and Jibril met many angels and gods. Some from the likes of Hades, the god of death. Raqib and Atid, who judged a lot of Eris' appearance and morality. Poseidon, who was swimming in the rivers with a school of fish. Munkar and Nakir, who asked tons of questions towards Eris where Jibril had to stop their assault. She even met this human named Adam. He described that he had a beautiful wife and wanted to do her every night. Whatever that means.

Eris thought that while some of the creations were pretty weird, (Looking at you Zeus) she thought that heaven harbored some great people with differing personalities. She wanted to talk to more to them.

Some time had passed and the warm sun soon settled beneath the horizon. At times like these, many would calm down and rest for the night. But for the gods and angels, they wanted one thing and one thing only: To party.

"Woooo!" Zeus yelled out as he drunk glasses upon glasses of wine. He got to the point where he got a large bowl and poured the delicious wine into, and chugged the darn thing.

"Chug! Chug! Chug!" The crowd of gods cheered as Zeus swallowed the dangerous amount of wine into him.

Meanwhile, Eris was sitting on a fallen log. On her hand was a glass full of milk. Jibril recommended that she drink this first, and not that mysterious red liquid she saw the gods gulping down. She thought for a moment, looking at the pure white milk and towards the drunken gods.

She drank it, gulping down three sips before putting the glass away from her mouth. It tasted delicious, she thought. It was refreshing, soothing, and very nice.

"Enjoying your stay?" A woman who walked towards her asked.

She had never met this woman before. She didn't have feathered wings or a halo, so she must be a goddess. Her head sprouted horns, and her attire strikes a long cape. And most of all, her chest showed immense pride. For some odd reason, when Eris looked at her chest, she grew this weird tingly anger inside her.

"Might I ask who you are?" Eris asked.

"I'm Wolbach, the goddess of sloth and violence. Nice to meet you." The goddess greeted her and sat fown beside her.

"I'm Eris, Just Eris."

"Hmm? Are you perhaps a human?" Wolbach asked. She observed Eris' attire. She could definitely tell that she wasn't an angel, but couldn't tell if she's a human since she emits an aura of holiness.

"I don't really know." Eris rubbed her arm.

"Oh it doesn't matter." Wolbach chuckled a bit, "Like I asked, are you enjoying your stay here in heaven?"

"Hmm," Eris swirled the glass of milk in her palm, "I would say it is enjoyable."

"That's good to hear." Wolbach said, "I thought the gods behavior would sour your stay." Wolbach observed Eris. She saw her holding a glass of milk.

"You don't drink?"

"Hmm?" Eris thought for a moment about what Wolbach asked for before it clicked in her head. "Oh, you mean that red liquid. No, I don't."

"Lucky. You really shouldn't drink it. A little is okay, but don't go for what they are doing." Wolbach motioned towards the drunken Zeus having an arm wrestle with Poseidon.

"Especially her."

"Who?"

"Aqua." Wolbach pointed towards a blue haired girl who was chugging multiple upon multiple bottles of wine straight from the bottle. After she was done chugging down one, she went on to stuffing her mouth full of food.

"Aqua is the goddess of water. I don't know what her job is, but her attitude is absolutely insufferable." Wolbach then went on to explain why Aqua is such a terrible coworker.

She explained how Aqua would always complain that she has to do extra work by feeding the fish or helping Demeter garden. She also treats Wolbach pretty harshly since she's the goddess of sloth and violence. And most of all, she is lazy, gluttonous and prideful.

"I know father is the all forgiving and all that, but he should at least punish that blue prick with something." Wolbach complained.

"Maybe I should greet he-"

"Don't. Please for the love of father don't. You'll regret it hard." Wolbach cut off Eris and went back to sipping her wine. Eris only nodded timidly.

"Wolbach?" Eris called for her. The former looked back to what Eris wanted.

"What is my purpose here?"

Ever since her creation, she didn't really know why she was even created. God said that he wanted her to oversee a world, but that hasn't come yet. She wasn't an angel, nor was she a goddess. She considered herself human like Adam, but even Adam didn't see so. He said that humans need to be born from humans, not created by light or some other material. So what was she? Why was she here? What purpose does she serve.

"Well, I don't really know." Wolbach rubbed the back of her head. "Only father knows."

"Oh, alright then." Eris then looked back at the glass of milk, she then took a sip of it. Still refreshing.

Some time has passed since Eris' creation. To be more specific, roughly 25,000 years has passed.

A lot has happened in between those short years. Adam and his wife had apparently eaten this forbidden fruit and was banished to this place called earth. Adam then did it with his wife and they made a family. Then that family did it too, then the other, then the next, and a couple of thousand years later, humans roamed the earth.

The angels then went down to do their duties as well. Jibril guided the prophets. Raqib and Atid listed the goods and bads of people. Munkar and Nakir asked questions whenever someone dies. Ridwan, well, he was still guarding heaven.

The gods on the other hand decided to party till the end of time. As per usual, they drunk wine, ate the copious amounts of food that they asked for, and did a lot of lovemaking.

Eris meanwhile, just travelled through heaven. Talked a lot towards the gods and goddesses, and even to some humans who passed away on earth. Her life was a constant cycle of walking, talking, and helping.

Currently, she was helping the goddess Aqua with something. Eris had eventually talked to Aqua. And her impression? It was exactly like Wolbach had described: Incredibly insufferable.

"Alright Eris, listen up. God has instructed me to mow the lawn." Aqua had said as the two holy beings oversee an overgrown lawn on a still beautiful garden. Of course, the garden was owned by Demeter. Demeter did say that she didn't want that 'blur thing' anywhere near her gardens. But she guessed that God had other plans.

"So as your senior, I must teach you how to mow it." Aqua said as she snapped her fingers. A lawnmower appeared out of nowhere. And yes, Aqua was her senior since she was created way before Eris was.

Whay do they need to mow the lawn and use a lawnmower? God knows why.

"Didn't you say that God instructed you to mow the lawn?" Eris, still trying to get close and understand Aqua, tries to reason with her.

"Did I say that?" Of course, it was gonna be a lot more harder than she thought. "Anyways, start mowing the lawn. I'm gonna catch up on my favorite manga." She says as she took out a manga from behind her back.

A few minutes had past, and Eris was still mowing the lawn. She moved the machine forward and decided to look at what her senior was doing.

"Hahaha! Oh man, those good for nothing humans actually made something to entertain me. Who knew?" She laughed at herself as she read the funny lines on a supposedly funny manga. Eris only sighed as she continued her tedious but somewhat relaxing task.

Eventually, Eris had finished her job. She admired the now beautifully mowed lawn. Some sparkles even glittering under the sunlight. She then looked back at Aqua who was still reading her manga. Only this time, it was a different volume.

"Lady Aqua, I am finished." She says.

"Huh?" Aqua caught off guard of her reading, looked at Eris. "What did you say?"

"I said I'm finished mowing."

"Oh really? Well thanks." Aqua said her dry thank you. "Go do your own thing or something." She says as her face was buried in the manga and hand in a shooing motion.

Eris only gave a crooked smile before retreating to her own business. She gave out a tired sigh. "What am I going to do with my life?" She says as she fiddled her hair.

Actually, what was she doing in her life. For an eternity now, she has been doing nothing but errands. Most of the time it was with Aqua, but other than that, she didn't really have any other purpose. She talked with the gods and goddesses, and while they were fun to talk to, it would get tiring once you repeat the same topics over and over again. She wanted to talk to the angels, but they were still busy with their business on earth. And while Jibril was still free most of the time, he was pretty hard to talk to.

She walked all across heaven. It was never ending really. Heaven stretched for as long as you still have the will to explore. And she really didn't have that much will since all she sees is the beautiful amount of flora and fauna. Once you seen all this spectacular stuff, it really isn't anymore once everything you see is amazing or jaw dropping.

So what purpose does she have? Is it really just being an errand girl for Aqua? Does she have a duty outside of heaven?. What was she even? She didn't know if she was a goddess, an angel, or human. God didn't even give her a title or anything. She was just Eris.

Though she did remember one thing he said after her creation.

"you're supposed to be overseeing a world that I will create"

She was to oversee a world. Was this her duty all along? If so, why hasn't it come any sooner? Did God change his mind?

Eris.

Hmm? She recognized that voice. It was all to familiar. Of course, it belonged to the creator, the forgiving, the father: God.

"What is it God?" Shee asked.

Eris, there is something I want to show you.

Then, Eris was suddenly teleported to the same empty void when she was created. Eris looked around in a bit of nostalgia. Seeing this empty room actually filled her with a bit of charm. But she also looked around in confusion. Why did God show her this room again?

You see, just a few moments ago, you were thinking back on what your purpose of existence is. And even remembered a quote I said many eons ago. Now, I believe you are ready to take the next step to being much more than just Eris.

"What do you mean God? What is my purpose?" Eris asked politely.

I will show you.

Then Infront of her, the empty space devoid of any life and color, suddenly transformed around her. Landscape of lush green valleys, rivers full of aquatic life, forests made from flora and fauna, a sky full of clouds and a sun that shown it's rays upon this created land.

Eris, your purpose is to oversee this land right here. It is not just any land, it is a planet.

Eris then floated up to the sky, passing the clouds and into space. She then saw how the land that she saw was much more bigger. It looked just like earth, but of course the geography is a bit different.

"I will oversee all of this?"

You will. Eris, I have not told you this, but with the responsibility of governing this world I created, you will be known by the people inhabiting it and the gods and goddesses here as the Goddess of Luck, Eris.

"A goddess?"

Yes, a goddess. Like Wolbach, Aqua, Demeter, and many others.

She really couldn't believe it. To think that all this time, of living, talking, walking and working, that she would become a goddess just like them. It was honestly astounding to her. She got a bit enthusiastic that she finally has some purpose in her creation.

Since you're so early on to being a goddess, I thought that you might need help in assisting with the world and other duties.

"Oh, of course! Who will be assisting me? Is it a goddess? Like Wolbach or Demeter? Is it an angel? Maybe Jibril?" Eris repeatedly asked enthusiastically. She really wanted to know who was going to help her. This overseeing job thing was a bit much for her to handle her excitement.

It was a hard decision, but I think I know just the perfect person to help.

Then suddenly Infront of her, a person emerged from thin air. She held a manga in her hand, and she was still munching on some food she was still eating. Her back was laid on a very comfy lawn chair. She was still clueless to her surroundings, not knowing she was teleported to an empty space with a planet, and a newly declared junior goddess beside her.

"What?! You're telling me she's going to be assisting me?" Eris, for the first time in her existence, screamed in utter disbelief.

It can't be. It couldn't be. It had to be a mistake. Surely, God wouldn't want to her of all people to help her in her new duties as a goddess. Surely, God was just playing a little prank her. Yes, it was a prank. Definitely a prank. Please be a prank.

My my, what do you mean? She is the perfect candidate to help you. Furthermore, she will also be your senior. So please respect her.

"Huh? Did someone say something?" Finally, Aqua had realized her surroundings, and began to furiously ask what she was doing here, why was she brought here, and a whole lot more questions. She was incredibly mad that someone would interrupt her manga reading.

"I'm... I'm doomed." Eris then kneeled on the floor, her head going through a flurry of emotions.

Why? How? What could she possibly do to deserve this fate?

A few hundred years had passed. Eris was still overseeing the world of Konosuba (I don't know what they call it in the show.) Aqua had been assigned to help govern Japan and the gods new system.

The Japan to Alternate World Reincarnation System, or JAWRS. This new system which was invented by the some members of the Greek and Konosuba gods, is a system which any person that was classified as a 'weeb', 'otaku, or 'neet' who is japanese that died, would be given three choices. The choices are to live their lives for an eternity in heaven, reincarnate as a baby with no memories, or reincarnate to another world with your memories in tact.

The sole purpose of this new system was to transport these degenerates to the new world of Konosuba. Their purpose? Defeat the demon king. That's why the other options sound underwhelming.

It's a pretty simple concept and was still being done to this day. Aqua was the one in charge of JAWRS. All Eris had to do was answer prayers, give luck to those she deemed worthy or pity, and punish those by giving them bad luck if she sees any wrongdoings.

She was still new to this system and governing the world. It felt quite good to see people and their lives, living in good times and just having fun. For a while, as in, a few centuries, this was the main activity she had been doing.

Currently, she was observing this one particular person who was praying at her church.

"Dear lady Eris, please hear my prayer." The person spoke, it was a woman. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes. Her clothes befitted that of a noble. In between her hands, was holding a pendant of the Eris Church.

"I really want a friend." She said, her face slightly blushing, maybe out of embarrassment.

"Hmm?" Eris hummed. She always heard of people praying or asking for a lot of things. Money, fame, power, ladies, but never friendship. She got curious. Why would this girl want a friend?

"I know it's a bit weird, but please, give me just one friend at least. I've been lonely at the mansion and I really want someone to hang out with." The woman said again, her face growing redder and redder.

Eris sighed, more out of pity than empathy. How could she help this person out?

She thought for a moment, thinking about ways to get this girl a friend. Maybe she could use her devine powers to drive someone to meet her. But that wouldn't mean that that person would want to be friends with her. She also can't influence anyone's thought or mind to favor or despise anyone. So she can't use her powers to make someone be friends with this girl. So what should she do?

"Maybe..." Eris then thought up an idea. "I can be friends with her."

It wasn't that tough, all she has to do was go to down there and meet her. But, there was catch. The humans there do recognize and know Eris' face, so they would immediately flock to her. This girl also knows her, so she might not treat her as a friend, but as a deity. Unless...

"I can just change my look." Yes, that is correct. If she just changes her clothes, have a little makeover, and change up her hairstyle, she could pull it off and fool people. Perfect, that is just the plan she would do.

Plus, this the perfect opportunity for her to finally try and be human. In her time observing humans, she always wondered what it would be like to be human. Seeing how they would get hurt, laughing, loving, feeling tired, sleeping, she wanted to experience all of that. It isn't against the rules, so why not do it now? She can be friends with this girl, and live life as a human.

"Alright, I'll do it." Eris said to herself.

After a few minutes, she had created the perfect look as a disguise on a mannequin. A girl with short silver hair, a scar on her cheek, an exposed tummy with her bra and a green cardigan( I think it's a cardigan, what do you call it anyways?), a short cut off pants and boots to seal the deal. And the name?

"Chris."

Perfect, she thought.

Now, it was time to go. She used her powers and created Chris right Infront of her. A light blinded her, and after it dimmed down, the girl which she imagined and finalized, was created before her.

"Huh?" Chris slowly opened her eyes. "What is this? Where am I?" Just like Eris' creation, Chris looked around and questioned everything. The same thought process going through like her many eons ago now.

"Hello." Eris said as she waved her hand at her.

"Who... are you?"

"I'm Eris, your creator and the other you."

"My creator? So you mean you created me right?" She asked, still in a bit of confusion.

"That's right."

"And your the other me?"

"Yes, you're basically me. Just with another look. You should have the same personality as me"

Chris admired herself for a moment. Looking at her hands, opening and closing them. Looking at her body and clothes, and finally, to Eris. They really did look a like.

"So, what's my purpose?" Chris asked.

"You're purpose is to be friends with this girl." Eris then showed her the blonde woman still praying in the church. "You can also travel freely in this world as well." She added.

"Is that really it?"

"Well, if there is any other duties that I find that we need to do, I'll send you there to do it."

"Well, there really isn't that much else to say. I guess I should be going now." Chris said. Eris nodded and opened up the door to the mortal realm. In this case, the world of Konosuba.

"Good luck me! Have fun down there." Eris enthusiastically said.

"Yeah yeah, me." Chris on the other hand, was a bit more laid back than her doppelganger. Chris then disappeared into the door of light, leaving Eris alone in her office.

Eris then observed the world, and saw how Chris had successfully travelled to the world below.

"Let's see where this goes."

As the light dimmed down in her eyes, Chris opened her eyes and realized she was laying on the ground. She got up and observed her surroundings. It seems that she was in a town since the whole place was crowded with people everywhere, minding their own business.

"So this is the mortal realm." She said to herself as she looked around some more. Some people were starting to look at her since she was aww-ing at her surroundings a bit too long, she realized this as she felt the stares and soon walked towards the direction which this lonely blonde girl was at.

After getting lost quite a bit, and asking for some directions from strangers, she had arrived at the church. And just in time since she saw the girl leaving the doors and walking down the steps. She wastes no time as she walked at a steady pace towards her.

"Hello there." She greeted. The girl looked to her left and saw Chris standing there.

"Um, hello there. What do you want?" The girl asked.

"I just wanted to ask, what's your name?"

"Um, it's..." For some reason, the girl pauses for a moment. As if she was thinking about something, before she snaps out of her thoughts and continued, "Darkness, it's Darkness."

"Darkness? That's a peculiar name" She commented.

"Really?" Darkness then jumped back a bit in surprise.

"B-But I don't mean it in a mean way. It's just, unique." Chris, seeing this girl's reaction, tries to reassure her. Even if she finds the name odd.

"Oh, thank goodness." Darkness calms down. "Anyway, is that all?"

"Oh, there's also one more thing I want to ask."

"What is it then?"

"Do you want to hang out?"

"Hang... out?" Darkness was pretty confused. What does 'hang out' mean? Is it some form of activity where you would hang someone? If so, she would definitely decline, she thought.

"Yes, hang out. Like going to the park, walking around, grabbing a snack. You know, hanging out." Oh, that's what she means.

"Oh um, yes. I would love to." Darkness then clasps her hands together.

"Alright then let's go!" Chris then grabs her hand and yanks her out of her stand. Chris was walking pretty fast and Darkness was being dragged around.

"Um, may I ask where we are going?" Darkness asked stammerley as she felt the tug on her arm being done by Chris.

"Oh, um." Chris then immediately halted on her tracks. Darkness still having inertia, bumped into the back of her. "I actually don't know." She didn't mind the disturbance of her back being bumped into.

"Let's just uh, explore around shall we." Chris thought up an idea and soon executed it immediately. Chris eventually let's go of Darkness's hand as she wasn't a kid.

Darkness followed the silver haired girl Infront of her. She had wondered why all of this was happening all at once. At the start of the day, she just did her morning routine. Shower, brush her hair, wear some clothes, eat and go out. On her stroll, she decided to go to the church since it was so nearby, it wouldn't hurt to visit and pray a bit.

She decided that hey, why not pray for a friend. It isn't likes she's lonely or anything, she has plenty of friends back at her mansion, it's just that it wouldn't hurt to ask for one more friend. Yes, definitely, that was totally reasonable. And now, she was just being dragged around by this complete stranger. It was confusing, but for some reason, it felt enjoyable following this girl who wanted to 'hang out', as they say.

"Hmm? what's that?" Chris asked as she pointed towards a nearby guild hall.

"Oh that? That's the adventurers guild hall. That's where a lot of adventurers gather to take quests and eat." She explained.

"How about we go there?"

Darkness gave it some thought. She had no reason not to go. She is a crusader, which is a job in the adventurers guild. She wasn't wearing her armor since she wants to take a break today. It wouldn't hurt to pay a visit right?

"Why not." Darkness said.

"Awesome let's go." Chris then walked briskly towards the building, with Darkness following suite.

They walked in the guild, and like many other instances with the guild hall, it was filled with noise. Adventurers drinking, eating, laughing, talking, it was all there. They walked past the macho adventurers and saw an empty table where they could sit at. They moved to it and sat down.

"Oh man, this place is much more crowded than I thought." Chris commented as she survey her surroundings, seeing the chit chat between people and their hearty laughs.

"You've clearly never been to a guild before." Darkness chuckled a bit. "It's normal for a guild to be crowded. It would actually be quite odd for a guild to be quiet for once."

"Hello there, would you two like to order?" A waiter came by as she saw the two sit, she headed over to them and asked for what they would like to have for today.

"Hmm, I would like to have a simple potatoes with green beans. What about you Chris?"

"Um, what do you sell here?" That's odd, does she really not know what they serve here? Well, she didn't really know what a guild was before, so it isn't too weird for her to not know what they sell, Darkness thought.

"We sell plenty of food items. For lunch, I recommend the chicken and broccoli or fried toad with veggies." The waiter answered for her.

"Then I'll have chicken and broccoli please." Chris smiled confidently, as if she's proud that she ordered something.

"Alright then, chicken and broccoli with potatoes and green beans coming right up." The waiter then left, leaving the two alone.

"Say," Darkness began speaking as she saw the waiter left, "Why did you want to hang out with me?" With all the odd things Chris has been doing, ranging from inviting her out of the blue, not knowing what the guild hall is, and not knowing what food items they sell, she grew a bit suspicious at Chris' motives.

"Oh, I was just really lonely and wanted a friend." Chris answered while giving a cheeky smile.

"A friend?" Darkness mumbled. No way, did this girl actually refer to her as a friend? No, she was just having false hope. Chris didn't refer to her as a friend, she just said she wanted a friend. Goodness her, how could she be so desperate, she thought.

"Hmm? Did you say something?" Chris had heard Darkness's little mumble.

"O-oh, it's nothing. Say, after we eat, what else do you want to do?" Darkness fumbled and asked her while she rests her hands on the table.

"Hmm..." Chris thought for a moment. She looked around her surroundings. She saw this group of people huddling near a bulletin board of some sorts with flyers all over it. They then took a flyer out from the board, and walked over to the receptionist.

"What are they doing?" She asked as she pointed towards the group of adventurers at the receptionist.

"They're registering a quest." Darkness answered. "You pick a quest from the quest board," She pointed at the bulletin board she saw earlier, "Take the quest you want, and register it at the receptionist."

"Huh, that's pretty neat. Want to take one?"

"Are you an adventurer?"

"Uh, no. I don't think I am." She says as ne checks herself. Yep, not an adventurer.

"Then it's a bummer. You can't take quests if you're not a registered adventurer." Darkness explained.

"Then how do I register?"

"Well, that's simple enough. Go to one of the reception area and ask to register as an adventurer. They do have a fee of 1000 eris to register though."

"Then let's register as one!" Chris then stood up from her seat, determined to become an adventurer just like the ones she has always seen from her office.

"I'm already an adventurer." Darkness says as she showed her card to her. It says she's a level 10 crusader.

"Oh. Then let's make myself register as one!" She says as she walked forward, before stopping dead in her tracks. She turned around to face Darkness and asked,

"Do you have 1000 eris?"

After Darkness sweat dropped and gave Chris the money, Chris had registered to become a fully fledged adventurer. The process went like usual, the staff asked her place her hand above an orb. The orb then showed her stats, which blew everyone away by how high it was, and was then given a choice to pick any class of her choosing.

Her choice of class was a shocker to everyone, since she chose one of the lowest picked classes there is, and which was often picked by people whose stats were low: the thief class.

Even Darkness was shocked. How could someone who has absurd luck, absurd stamina and defense, pick a class which was chosen by criminals. She didn't know why, which further added the character to Chris who Darkness grew more and more intrigued and confused.

After they ate, the duo then picked out a quest. Darkness suggested that they should start with toads, since Chris was so new to the class. They picked out the flyer, got it registered, and were on their way to the outskirts of the town she grew up in.

As they were walking, Darkness decided to ask her about something.

"Hey, Chris," Chris then looked at her, "Why did you pick the Thief class?"

"Oh, I don't really know."

"Gagh! What is wrong with this girl!" Darkness grew more and more confused with Chris. She got high stats, pick a class that are for people with weak stats, then said that she didn't know why she picked it. What is going on with her?

"C-come on, there's got to be more reason than that?"

"Hmm, come to think of it, I guess I just wanted something different. If that is even a reason."

In some ways, it was correct. Ever since her creation, Eris has always been deemed as a 'good girl'. She hasn't swore, she doesn't complain or shout at someone or something, always talks politely towards her friends, and keeps everything to herself. She has been a goody two shoes for her entire life (except towards Aqua. She always complains about her to everyone). But now, being presented the chance to do a little mischief with the thief class, maybe she could try being a little more 'bad'. Even if she swore to herself to never steal anything from anyone .

"Uhh, I guess that is a reason." Darkness still wasn't too convinced by it.

The duo eventually reached the gates. They walked outside the walls and travelled towards the place where giant toads usually hang out. There, they saw the toads hopping about, minding their own business.

"This should be easy enough." Darkness says as they looked at the hopping toads. "Alright, for toads, they're much more resilient to magic, meaning that you have to use sharp objects that could pierce it. Like arrows or swords." She explains.

"Good thing we bought a bow and a dagger!" Chris triumphantly says as she took the two weapons and raised them in the air.

"Good thing I bought a bow And dagger." Darkness complained. Before they set out, Chris didn't have any weapons for combat and self defense, so they went to a shop to buy some. Of course, if Chris asked her for 1000 eris, it wasn't surprising that she asked for money again as they bought the bow and dagger.

"Hehe, sorry about that. Anyways, why don't we start killing these guys!" She says as she ran straight at them.

"Wait, Chris! Be careful, they might eat you!" Darkness yelled in worry as she ran after her.

"Hagh!" She ran straight at an unsuspecting toad, she then jumped with her dagger pointing downwards, ready to stab it.

"Heagh!" She successfully stabbed it on the right side of it's head. She dangled in the air due to the height difference on the toad.

"Look Darkness! I did it! I stabbed a toad!" Chris celebrated as she shouts towards her.

"Chris! Get down from there! Toads can wrap their tongues around their body! It can catch you with it!"

"Huh?" Suddenly, Chris felt some slimy stuff on her body. She looked down and saw a giant tongue wrapping her belly.

"Uh oh." She was then pulled into the toad.

"Oh no!" Darkness then ran in. She didn't have a sword with her, but at least she could pull her out since Chris' legs were still dangling out of it's mouth.

"Don't worry, I got you Chris!" Darkness grabbed her legs and pulled with all her might. Luckily, she pulled her out pretty easily. Darkness had been training everyday ever since she became a crusader. For one, being strong enough to fight enemies, and two, for uh... other reasons.

"Bwah!" Chris yelped as she got out of the toads mouth and landed on her bum. "Man, that place sure does stink!" She says as she covers her nose.

"Chris, are you okay?"

"I'm a okay!" She gave her a thumbs up.

"What a child." Darkness mentally sighs.

At their little moment of discussion, the toad which attacked Chris and another toad came hopping towards them cause it heard the commotion, began looking at the unsuspecting adventurers.

"Yahh!" "Wahh!"

They were then yanked from their position and was inside their mouths.

"Ugh, it's so slimy in here." Chris complained as she gushed around it's interior, looking for a way to escape.

gulp*

"Huh? What was that sound?" Chris felt her body sinking deeper and deeper into it's mouth. She could only draw one conclusion: she was being swallowed alive.

"Oh no. How the hell am I gonna escape this place?" She frantically looks around for any ways of refuge. An escape from her fate.

"It seems the mortal realm is much more challenging than I thought."

"Huh? Who said that?"

"Don't worry Chris. It's just me, Eris. With your situation looking dire, I'll give you a little help."

Chris then felt something click in her head. Like a lightbulb just flicked, a skill which she obtained. She then looked at her dagger which she was still holding

"I command my dagger-" She whispered to it, her body swallowing deeper, her feet being the only thing left outside. "Goddess's blessing."

A faint glow emitted from the dagger, and a surge of energy began flowing through Chris' body.

"What is this?" She asked. The surge of energy felt unfamiliar, yet, it feels like she knows what moves she can and should do.

She placed her two hands on the toads tongue, and began breathing in and out heavily.

"Hghh!" She grunted and she began stretching her left arm, the force pulling her body upwards and forcing the toad's mouth to separate. "Hghh!" She grunted some more. She could see some light peeking through, which means the mouth is separating more.

"Heagh!" Suddenly, her left arm fully extended, fully opening the toad's mouth. Another effect which she didn't see coming, was that she spun around inside it's mouth, her right arm which held her dagger, extended. Making various cuts inside as she spun like a beyblade.

The toads mouth was sliced to bits, and she got out pretty easily as she slashed her way out. The toad's body slumped on the ground, as Chris jumped out of it's head. Yes, head. Not from the mouth- head. She sliced her way out as the toad was falling down.

She landed on the corpse of the toad, her boots blocking the gooey-ness of the toads brain and head. She looked down, upon realizing on what she had done.

"Did I... Kill that toad?"

This wasn't Chris speaking, this was Eris. She saw what her actions had done, and she just committed something which she would never do. Something that goes against her own morals- Killing something. Izrail, (the angel that takes away a life) must've seen her actions and took away the soul of this being. She couldn't believe. She couldn't comprehend it. How could she, Eris, the goddess of luck, take a life?

"Hmmmm~"

"Huh?" Chris was cut off from her thoughts as she heard someone mumble something. She's pretty sure that was the sound of someone faintly moaning.

She turned around and saw that her comrade Darkness was still being eaten by a toad. But it looks like she wasn't struggling?

"Oh no! Darkness!" Chris then ran towards it as she saw her friend still in danger. She side glanced the dagger she held on her right.

"Do I really have to use it?"

A lesson which Eris hasn't learned yet is that the mortal realm is much more complicated than in heaven. While morals are the key factor to keeping heaven in peace, the mortal realm does not have such concepts. It thrives on the number one rule of life.

Hunt, or be hunted.

You can either survive the world by killing those who are enemies to you, or be killed by the very ones you swore to protect. In this case, loving every creature does not mean that every creature will love you back. Sometimes, things just want to kill for their own benefits. You either kill, or you die. It's that simple. Some might say that it's the circle of life. Constant birth and death.

"You have to." This time, it was Chris who said it.

Chris realized this concept when she killed that toad earlier. Not everyone wants to be your friend. Some sees you as the enemy. You just have to accept it, and fight for what's right. That is, fight for survivability. No one can see eye to eye. And plus, these are toads. They don't have such complicated thoughts like humans do, like morality and problem solving. They only understand one rule and one rule only.

"You either hunt, or be hunted."

Chris then ran straight towards the toad, her dagger being held backwards. She ran under the toad, running across it's under chin or neck, and slicing it across. The toad bled it's copius amounts of blood, which it then fell down on the floor.

"Darkness!" She yelled out as she grabbed the legs which was dangling out and pulled her out. Her face laying downwards.

"Darkness are you alright ?" Chris turned her around to inspect her wellbeing. What she saw, was something she didn't expect.

"Haaaggghhh~"Darkness groaned out.

Chris could tell that she was completely knocked out. Her not speaking, and her body not reacting in any way. She expected her face to be frightened, scared or something, but it told another story.

Her face told that of ecstasy.

"Did this girl... get turned on by a toad?!"

The mortal realm was much more scarier than what she expected.

After Darkness regained her consciousness, the two finished their quota.

While walking back to the guild, Darkness held a very red and embarrassed face. While Chris looked... pretty normal.

"U-um, hey Chris." Darkness stammerley asked, "Fo-forget what you saw earlier. I don't want anyone to know about it."

At this time of year, Darkness was a lot more closeted with her fetish. She got embarrassed whenever she accidentally shows it, and begs to anyone whose seen a slight glimpse of it to forgive her and forget it. Safe to say, she was a closeted masochist.

"Don't worry. It's fine" Chris' voice was lot more toned down than before. "I'll try to forget it." Unluckily for her, gods are advanced in the mind, and can never forget memories and information with vivid detail. Such misfortune for the goddess of luck.

"Anyways, it looks like we've arrived." Chris says as they approached the guild hall.

They passed the many adventures who were dead drunk. It was near sunset, which is usually the time where parties settle down and have a drink. It explains why the scent of alcohol here was more stronger than ever.

They got to the receptionist, get their paycheck, and walked out. Nothing much happened. Except for the crunched up faces people made as they smelled their foul scent. As they were walking out of the door, they decided that as a send off, they would go back to the church which Darkness prayed at earlier.

As they both walked towards their destination, Chris, or rather Eris, began thinking back on what happened today.

At first, she wanted to feel what a mortal or human felt. She had seen their lives from above, and saw the wonders and all. The love, the pain, the start of their journey, the cruel fate of death. For a goddess, she never felt any of that. Not love, not pain, a journey which felt rushed since she grew intelligence at her creation, and she will never feel what death and demise is like. She can know the feeling if Hades explains it, but it'll never be a match to the real thing.

When she got the opportunity to be one, she took it in her everlasting heartbeat. Yes. Finally, the joys of being human. The breeze that flowed on her skin felt realistic and not artificial, the soreness she feels as she walks around. Various new people she could interact with. The feeling of relatability as she sat with many adventures. Being served the same food as them and not some grand course which was done perfectly. No. This food had it's flaws. It wasn't seasoned properly. No, this table isn't perfect. Some it's planks had little splinters and had some holes on it. No, not everything is given to you for free. You had to work for it instead of snapping your fingers.

It was perfect. Everyone was. It's just what she wanted.

Then, by her very hands, blood stained her boots. A dagger which she held, took the life of an innocent being.

That day, that moment, that action- is where she learns the truth of the world.

It isn't sunshine and rainbows. It isn't where you can do no wrong and that everything is nice to you. No, she was wrong. Very wrong.

For you to survive, you must swallow your morals and do what needs to be done. If a a gang of bandits comes up to you, threatening to kill your life if you don't do what they say. You're not going to talk with with them and have tea, trying to reason with them. No. You're going to fight for your very life. Hang on to your last breath to survive. This isn't heaven, this is reality. Someone who fights, is the at the top of the food chain. And someone who doesn't, would be at the very bottom.

"Hey, Chris,"

"H-huh? What is it Darkness?" She was cut off out of her thoughts as she looked at Darkness.

"You were spacing out back there. What were you thinking?"

"Oh. It's nothing. Just trying to forget the face you made when I saved you from tha-"

"Okay okay forget I asked!" Darkness barked in embarrassment as she cut off Chris' talking.

They both arrived at the Church. The candle lights outside the church lighting up the building, making it more beautiful to look at than in the day.

Darkness then looked at Chris.

"I guess this is where we part ways." She said to her. "It's been fun. Even if things didn't go as plan." Darkness blushed a bit, the feeling of being inside a toad still lingering inside her.

"Yeah, it has. I wish we could spend more time together, friend."

"Friend?" There it is again. Friend. And she didn't refer it as wanting one, she referred to it as Darkness being one. No way, there's no way! She considered her as a friend! She was so happy, she thought.

"Yeah! Friend. Is it wrong for me to call you one?"

"N-no. It isn't. I... I just find it comforting knowing that you trust me enough to be called a friend."

"Oh, then I trust you 100%" She gave her a smile.

"To tell you the truth, I don't actually have friends at home." Darkness looked to her side, her arm rubbing the other. "They're mostly maids and butlers. They do listen to me, but we don't have any deeper connections."

"I grew up lonely. Stuck in my mansion with my father. With no one else to talk to, it was hard to talk to anyone as I grew up."

"I guess that's why I don't have any friends."

"But that isn't true anymore. You do have a friend." Darkness looked up after Chris had said that. Chris' eyes twinkled the reflection of the Eris Church.

"It's me. I can be your friend."

Darkness... chuckled a bit. She didn't know what was funny, but hearing her say that, made her happy nonetheless.

"Heh, you don't know how much that means to me."

In the distance, a faint call was heard. "Lalatina! Oh Lala- there you are!"

The call came from an old man who wore a black suit with tail coats trailing behind, his facial hair and hair was white, indicating that he was an elder.

"Lalatina, you didn't come home by six, so I had to search for you."

"La-La-Lalatina!" Darkness stammered the name which was spoken by him. "I told you not to call me that in public!" Her face grew red in embarrassment, steam started coming out of her ears.

"I'm sorry. But with you gone, I couldn't help but worry you so much that it slipped my tongue."

She sighs, "Oh William, what am I going to do with you." Darkness tiredly smiled. She got a bit calmer by how caring her personal butler can be.

"Lalatina?" Darkness immediately jumped as she heard Chris say that.

After having a hefty explanation, Chris had a laughing fit, causing Darkness to deflate in on herself. William trying to pump her spirits back up by saying that it's a good name. It didn't really work.

After Chris calmed down, the two said their goodbyes.

"See you later Chris. I hope to see you again." She says as she waved goodbye.

"I hope to see you again too," She says. She saw Darkness nodding in acknowledgement and turned away from her. Leaving along with her butler William by her side.

"Lalatina."

"Don't call me that!"

Chris snorted as she took turned her back away to leave.

This day was certainly exciting, she thought as she passed the now lit up buildings.

"I hope to live it more again." She smiles, hoping that more days like this would come again in the near future.

"... You're joking, right?"

"No, I'm not. I'm Eris."

Kazuma was still loading the massive information leak that needed to be process inside his head.

Ever since he came to this world, he had always known that Chris would be the brave yet cocky, polite yet mischievous, teasing yet patient, thief. While Eris was the nice and polite, soft spoken and calm, understanding and supportive, goddess.

To think that these two polar opposites, would be the same person.

And yet, it somewhat made sense.

It explains why Chris was adamant about him saying Jesus Christ. It explains why she seemed miraculously fine when she was thrown to wall- she healed herself. It explains why Hostis kept saying she emitted holy energy. It explains why her short sword is considered a holy relic. It explains how Chris was able to revive him from the dead.

"So that's what you wanted to tell me." It finally clicked in his head. The conversation he had with Eris just hours ago.

"I think there's something I should tell you."

The conversation replayed in his head. He remembered how Eris hesitated for a moment, before ultimately apologizing to him. He didn't know why she apologized, and he still doesn't now, but he at least somewhat understands why she wouldn't tell him.

"Yes Kazuma, that's what I wanted to tell back there." Chris sighs, before continuing on, "I couldn't do it since i feared... what the gods might do, and what your reaction would be."

"The gods?"

"The higher ups. We gods have a hierarchy, atop sits God, the creator. Then the gods feom greece, nordic, from this world and many more. At the near bottom, is me."

"Wait, so basically, you gods have a hierarchy?"

"Does it explain why I call Aqua senpai?"

"Man, oh man, this is a lot to take into." With all the information dump, Erid being Chris, and the gods having a hierarchy which explains Eris' and Aqua's relationship, it wasn't too surprising that he felt his brain actually frying.

"I'm sorry Kazuma. You ask a question and I answer."

"No no, it's fine." Kazuma shook his head. "Would the gods actually give you some type of punishment if you revealed your identity?"

"That did cross my mind. But after further talk with the higher ups, they gave the greenlight. But i can only tell it to you but no one else."

"Damn, looks like i got some favoritism from the gods." Kazuma grinned in pride. Chris rolled her eyes.

"But still though, were you actually afraid of my reaction?" Kazuma snapped out of his thoughts and talked about the other reason why Chris didn't reveal her identity earlier.

"Yes. I was afraid that you would look differently at me than if I'd just stayed the status quo."

Kazuma could tell that this was Eris who was talking, by how calm and soft spoken she sounds. But that didn't matter right now!

"Chris, no- Eris, I know it's a bit weird and surprising for you to reveal you're identity, but I still see you as the same Chris or Eris."

"Man, that's the first time I heard myself actually sound caring." He mentally patted himself on the back.

"Really?"

"Yes, really."

"The it seemed I feared nothing." She mentally let out a sigh of relief. "Well, now that you know the truth, what do you think of me now?"

"Well,"

Kazuma thought for a moment. He looked at Chris, her short silver hair, her exposed stomach which serves no practicality, the yellow and white dagger sitting beside her belt, (or was it blue and black?), her beautiful face.

He then remembered the look Eris had. The purple and white dress she wore that extended past her knees, with gold trimmings stopping at thag same length. The white feather that stood on both sides of her shoulder, the long silver hair that went past her waist. The cute hat she wore atop her head. And the iconic padded breasts that sit between her chest and clothes.

The more he compared the two, the more he starts to realize how similar they look, especially the face (and chest). He kinda wanted to slap himself on the head since he couldn't see the obvious parallel between the two.

"I'd say you're the same. You're still Chris to me."

"Phew, that's a relief." She was relieved since he didn't see her any differently. Just Chris and Eris.

"Though, can I call you Eris from now on?

"Eh, I guess you can. Though, even if I'm the same as Eris, we still have somewhat different minds."

"Huh?" Okay, now it got confusing again.

"It's hard to explain..While I am still Eris, my mind and body is Chris. It's like we're two different person controlling one body."

"Okay, I think my brain isn't fried, but is burnt to a crisp." He swore be could feel actual sparks coming out of his head.

"Ah maybe I shouldn't explain more to you." Chris stammered as she saw Kazuma not responding to anything at all.

After a few minute break, Chris got to explain everything to Kazuma after his brain started functioning again. Of course, not thoroughly, but just enough where he could understand.

"So that's why you felt chest pain back at the fortress." She also explained the weird phenomenas which sometimes occurs with Kazuma around.

"Hmm" She nodded.

"Man, this explains a lot of things." Kazuma began to wonder how many weird instances he had with her, and how it corelates to her alter ego.

"Yeah, I'm sure there's a lot." Chris began to chuckle a bit.

"Hold on a minute!" Kazuma suddenly shouted out of the blue, startling Chris in the process.

"Does that mean I stole panties from a goddess?" He shouted, his entire body going white, his blood drained from his body.

"Really Kazuma, that's what you care about?" It seems the perv-zuma in him hasn't left him one bit.

"Yeah, I guess you did steal panties from a goddess." She shrugs.

"Oh no, oh no, oh no! My life is doomed! it's over, I'm definitely going to hell." Kazuma layed on his side, thinking about the terrible devine punishment he would receive.

"Relax, your not going to hell. You think all of us gods are goody two shoes?" Oh right, there was Aqua. How could he forget.

"Phew, thought for a second there I would actually go to hell." Kazuma wiped the sweat off his forehead. He sat back up as normal.

"You won't get a punishment as severe as that," Chris then got up, Kazuma looked at her in curiosity. "But you will receive a punishment like this!

"hu-?"

"Steal!"

A bright light blinded the two. After the light dimmed down, Kazuma could feel something missing between his crotch and pants. Chris could feel soft and high quality fabric on her hand. She dangled her prize above Kazuma, showing her victory against him.

"My boxers!" Kazuma screamed.

"Hah! Think I'd forget about that. I hold on to grudges Kazuma!" Chris then ran away, his boxers being held tight in her hand.

"No stop! My pride as a man is ruined!" Kazuma chased after Chris. He could feel his crown jewels dangling and bouncing around as he ran. Man, did it feel horrible, he thought. He is never disregarding good underwear ever again.

After being chased around for about a minute, Chris eventually gave him his boxers, but not before demanding,

"Say that you will worship Eris and only Eris from now on."

"What?! You can't force someone to believe in something!" Kazuma complained like the true atheist he is, even though he saw a literal god right Infront of him.

"You know, this could make a good firestarter for another ti-"

"OKAY FINE I WORSHIP ERIS!"

"Bahahaha!" Chris then bursted to a fit of laughter. "Man, I never would of thought that you would be so desperate for boxers! Hahahah!"

"S-stop laughing! It's my pride as a man okay!"

"Yeah yeah whatever. Here you go." Chris handed him his boxers.

After Kazuma put on his high quality underwear, the two decided to head home. It was still noon, but they grew very tired as they only got little sleep from their previous quest.

"You know, you don't actually have to join the Eris Church. I was just playing around earlier." Chris says as they passed the gates of Maine.

"Figures."

"Buuut, it wouldn't hurt if you would join-"

"Don't even try Chris. You kinda sound like an Axis cultist." Kazuma commented.

"Oh come on, they're not that bad."

"Chris, don't try to defend your senior. You know how she is."

They eventually arrived at their inn. It's only been like a day and a half since they left their room. But the journey down below the basement, would make time go slower than expected. It fells like it's been a month since they've last been here.

They walked inside and was greeted by the same receptionist as before.

"Ah, good noon my couple. How was your day?"

"I've felt better." Kazuma spoke with as little energy as possible.

"Same" Chris answered as well as they both walk towards their room.

With them only getting a few hours of sleep, nearly dying while battling a necromancer, one actually dying, killed it, travelling back to Maine, leaving it for a talk, running around with no underwear on, and returning back to Maine while heading to their inn, it was no wonder why Chris and Kazuma were both exhausted.

"Oh, um, alright then." The receptionist didn't know what to say.

The two reached their room, unlocked the door, walked for a bit, before crashing down on the bed.

"Maaan," Kazuma moaned, "It feels like forever since I've layed on a bed."

"Same goes for here." Chris says she rolled herself around to face up.

"Ferdinand will leave tomorrow, probably at noon, wake me up if I oversleep Chris." Kazuma sluggishly says as he feel his body and mind drift off to sleep.

"Sleep well, Kazuma." She saw Kazuma close his eyes, and eventually heard snoring from him.

"What a fast sleeper." She guessed that their journey hours ago was the main cause.

"You should drift off to sleep as well."

"Ah, it's you again. Good thing Kazuma's asleep so he can't hear me."

It was non other than Eris herself. She had suggested towards her counterpart to rest like her friend is.

"Good thing too. Now, like I said, you should rest as well."

Chris, for the first time, gave a genuine smile towards Eris.

"Yeah, I think I should."

"Did... Did you just listen to me?!"

"Jeez your saying like I don't listen to you all the time." Chris chuckled a bit.

"It's because you do!"

"Yeah yeah I get it. Alright I'm ready to sleep. Just leave me alone now okay?" She heard no response, seems like she left.

Chris gave a sigh of tiredness, which then turned to a yawn. She stretched her arms as she did so, before resting and nestling them on the bed.

"Sleep well, Eris." "Sleep well, Chris." They both say as Chris closes her eyes and falls deep into slumber. This sleep probably being one of the best sleep she has ever had in her entire existence.

To be continued...

Author's note:

12k words, damn. That's the highest count since my Kazuma's royal affairs fic got to 11k. Pretty proud of myself.

The next chapter would be the final one for the arc. It's been a long journey, but my dreams of reaching this is finally coming true. Never thought I would be this dedicated to writing a fanfiction.

Also, how many times am I going to write a scenario where the main cast fight giant toads? That quest popped up way too many times.

Hope you enjoy the backstory of my version of Chris and Eris, and I hope you enjoyed reading this chapter. See you later,

And onto the next chapter!

Chapter 9: Farewell
