Chapter 5: Jungle Rumble.
Dash and Violet, both of whom were dressed in camouflage outfits, sat across from Mirage as she typed in a keyboard and brought up a hologram of the Omnidroid.
"The Omnidroid 9000 is a top secret prototype battle robot. Its artificial intelligence enables it to solve any problem it's confronted with, and unfortunately…" Mirage said.
"Did it go crazy?!" Dash asked.
"You might say that. It got smart enough to wonder why it had to take orders. We lost control, and now it's loose in the jungle, threatening our facilities. We've had to evacuate all our personnel from the island for their own safety." Mirage said.
"How are we going in?" Violet asked.
"The Omnidroid's defenses necessitate an air drop from 5000 feet. Its cloaking devices make it difficult to track, although we're pretty sure it's on the southern half of the island." Mirage said.
"All right. We're gonna be heroes for real!" Dash said.
Mirage smiled before she said, "One more thing. Obviously, it represents a significant investment."
"What does that mean?" Dash asked.
"Making it was expensive, so our best bet is to find a way to shut it down without completely destroying it." Violet said.
"What makes her think we'll destroy it?" Dash asked.
"Well, we are Mr. Incredible's children." Violet said.
Later, the two of them were strapping themselves in to be put in a drop pod. Mirage walked up to them.
"I've got to warn you. It's a learning robot. Every moment you spend fighting it only increases its knowledge of how to beat you." she said.
"Shut it down, do it quickly, don't destroy it." Violet said.
"And don't die." Mirage said before the pods dropped.
Once they landed, Dash and Violet climbed out and headed into the jungle in search of the Omnidroid. They moved cautiously, wandering through the jungle, trying to listen for the robot. They also made sure to keep an eye out for any possible traps. Eventually, after an hour and a half, they started to think they were wasting their time, when suddenly, Dash spotted something on a tree.
"Hey, Violet, look at that!" Dash said as he pointed at a giant claw mark on a tree that looked like a deep cut.
"That's not the only one." Violet said as she pointed at an X-shaped footprint on the ground.
They then heard a loud crash. They looked behind them and saw a robot with five legs that ended in four-fingered claws.
"Is that the Omnidroid?!" Dash asked.
"It must be!" Violet said as the Omnidroid attacked them, only for them to dodge quickly. The Omnidroid then attacked them again, managing to cut their arms. Dash ran around the Omnidroid while Violet turned invisible, her clothes blending in with the jungle. Just as the robot spotted Dash after moving its head to its underside, Violet blasted it with a powerful forcefield, sending it stumbling back before it hit a tree that fell over onto it and collapsed. Dash and Violet smirked before it got back up, not seeming to even be damaged.
"Uh-oh." they said before the Omnidroid rushed towards them. They used the same avoidance moves from before, but the Omnidroid's sensors detected them, even with Violet invisible, and whacked them both into a tree, which it avoided. The Omnidroid then turned into a ball and rolled after them, causing Dash to grab Violet's wrist and run for it.
"We'regonnagetsquashedWe'regonnagetsquashedWe'regonnagetsquashed!" Dash and Violet said as the Omnidroid gained on them and they ducked into trees, only for the Omnidroid to quickly follow them, sending them sliding down a cliff. Eventually, they came to a standoff on the rocks, where the Omnidroid made its claws so it was firmly stuck to the rocks as Dash and Violet made a futile attempt by throwing rocks and force field blasts at it. The Omnidroid struck back as it threw rocks at them, two of which missed, but one hit them, knocking them back into the cliff and forcing them to dodge as the Omnidroid stabbed the cliff. They ran for it before the Omnidroid caused them to fall by jumping near them. Violet created a forcefield to shield them as they fell near a pool of lava. The Omnidroid followed, attacking them with its claw. This forced Violet to shield her and Dash as the Omnidroid pushed the forcefield near the lava. Suddenly, Violet had an idea.
"Dash, when I say three, duck." Violet said before Dash nodded.
"One…two…three!" Violet said as she let go of the forcefield, causing the Omnidroid to slip as Dash and Violet ducked and fall into the lava.
Dash and Violet looked at it before they cheered. Suddenly, the Omnidroid burst through the floor, heated by lava.
"Not even lava stops that?!" Violet asked as the Omnidroid neared them with its heated claws, forcing them to back up. They looked behind them at the lava before the machine grabbed them both with its claw.
"Well, looks like this is it." Violet said.
Suddenly, Dash had an idea.
"Violet, send your force field out in a burst!" Dash said.
"What?" Violet asked.
"Just make a force field and shoot it like a shockwave." Dash said.
Violet concentrated before she did just as Dash said, breaking the claw and freeing them.
"All right!" Violet said before Dash rushed around the Omnidroid's lower visor before launching a super speed assault that left it broken. Violet cut it with a force field blast and she and Dash climbed into the robot, causing it to attack and damage itself. Eventually, it stumbled and Violet blasted its head off. Dash then tricked the robot into breaking out its own core, shutting it down for good.
Dash and Violet hopped down from the robot and looked at it before they looked at each other and Dash said, "We did it."
"We did. We did it!" Violet said before she and Dash started yelling in celebration before jumping around and celebrating.
Little did they know, a nearby parrot was perched on a branch. Its eye zoomed in on them, showing that it was really a camera.
"Impressive!" Mirage said, watching from a surveillance booth, clapping.
"Most impressive. We must bring them back. Sound the all clear and invite them to dinner." said a shadow.
