Chapter 8: Out With the Old, In With the New

A few days later, Dash and Violet, seeing that their jungle uniforms had taken damage, were wondering what to do about it.

"We can't just replace these outfits with the same ones. We'll just have to keep paying for new ones." Violet said.

"Too bad we can't make our own." Dash said.

Then, Violet got an idea, "Well, there might just be a way." she said.

A few minutes later…

The Parr Children pulled up on their bikes to a mansion with a laser-guarded gate.

A small screen cut on and a guard spoke, "Do you have an appointment?" he asked.

"We're old friends." Violet said.

"All visitors are required to-" the guard started before a black-haired woman with glasses appeared and shooed him away.

"Go away! Get lost! Go check the electric fence or something! What is it! Who are you! What do you want?!" she asked.

Dash and Violet held up a picture of their family to identify themselves.

"My word, your father's gotten fat." the woman said.

Then, the laser grid dropped and the kids came in.

"Yes, things are going quite well, no complaints, but it is not the same, dahlings." Edna said as Dash and Violet followed her.

"Weren't you just on TV? Some fashion show in…where was it?" Violet asked.

"Milan, dahling. Supermodels." she said before turning and pointing at Dash and Violet, making them jump, "HAH!" she laughed before turning around and resuming her walk, "Nothing super about them. Spoiled stupid little stick figures with poofy lips who think only about themselves. Beh! I used to design for the greatest!" she said while looking at the superhero-themed fountain outside her window.

"But perhaps you've come with a challenge, eh? I was surprised to get your call." Edna said.

"We have. Auntie Edna, we were wondering if you would mind making us our own Super suits." Dash said.

"Don't be so rude, Dash!" Violet said.

"Now, now, dahlings, no need to worry about that. But, what have you been doing that requires your own suits? Moonlighting hero work?" Edna asked.

"Maybe." Dash said.

"Dash!" Violet said.

"Well, I can't make you two hobo suits like your parents'." Edna said.

"Hobo suits? You designed them." Violet said.

"I never look back, dahling, it distracts from the now, but a new suit type is in order, that much is certain." Edna said.

"So, wait, you do want to make us suits?" Dash asked.

"Indeed, dahling." Edna said before she brought out a pencil and notepad, "It will be bold, dramatic, HEROIC!" Edna said.

"Yeah, we should make it something like Dynaguy! He looked so cool, the cape, the boots-" Dash said before he was hit by a paper ball thrown by Edna.

"NO CAPES." Edna said.

"Isn't that our decision?" Violet asked.

"Do you know about Meta Man?" Edna asked.

"Well…" Violet said.

"Cape caught on an express elevator shaft." Edna said.

"Well, we can't fly so…" Violet said.

"DYNAGUY! Cape snagged on ground during takeoff!" Edna said.

"How does that even-" Dash said.

"SPLASHDOWN! Sucked by his cape into a vortex!" Edna said.

"NO CAPES!" Edna said before walking off.

"Go on home. Your suits will be finished before your next assignment." Edna said.

"You know we don't do hero work." Dash said.

"Neither do I anymore, Dashiell, but here we are." Edna said.
