June 12: "Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life who want you in theirs—the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and love you no matter what."
I originally intended this to be something else but that didn't work so I will be posting another story today...I am quite enjoying making my characters have their own personalities ect. It is also to try and not tell but show things.
Hope you enjoy this chapter.
To God Be The Glory!!
Leaning against a wall Jo watched his friends. Jewel was sitting with several other does, talking together and laughing, and Kiah was standing against the opposite wall, listening to the younger bucks who were surrounding him talk. Letting a smile cross his lips, the archer looked over at Lew, Liza, and their new family, who were standing next to him. He grinned at them before slipping away and moving towards Kiah. As he reached the other buck, Jo silently leaned against the wall beside him, watching the crowded room. They sat silent for a moment before Jo rolled his head against the wall to look at Kiah.
"You want to know something I've learned?"
The scarred rabbit hummed as he shifted to look at Jo. The archer grinned and watched Jewel laugh, her face lit with joy. Her dress was beautiful, fitting well with her golden-red fur and large brown eyes. The scar on her arm was clearly visible, but, in Jo's opinion, it only added to her beauty. He pulled his gaze away as Kiah cleared his throat. He glanced at his friend and shifted uncomfortably as he met the amused gaze of the other buck. The hoarse voice of Kiah brought him fully to the present.
"What did you learn?"
Jo shook his head, glancing at Jewel before shrugging. "I've been learning about family." He looked at Kiah. "I don't know what your family was like, and I only know a little of Jewel's family, but my family was not the best...it seemed like my father barely knew I was there, except for when he didn't like what I did." Sighing, he glanced at Kiah, who was staring at the ground. "What I found was that sometimes the people in my life, my friends, are more of a family to me than the flesh and blood family. They accept me the way I am. I don't need to fight with a sword; I don't need to be the strongest rabbit around." He hesitated, looking at Kiah, who was now staring at him as he listened. "My friends will do anything to see me smile, and I will do anything to see them happy."
Kiah smiled, the right side higher than the left because of the scar. "I like that." Jo watched him as he hesitated before sighing and rubbing his throat. "My family thought I was too quiet…" Shaking his head, he sighed quietly. "Truthfully, I think they were disconcerted by me. Everyone in my family was loud."
Jo sighed as they looked out at the rabbits again, standing together.
"I'm sorry." Jo glanced quickly at Kaih. "But you have us as a family now, and we'll let you go as long as you want without talking."
Kiah's lips twitched, and he lightly slapped Jo on the arm.
