As the bright white light faded and my vision now returned, I noticed that I was between two brick walls. A heavy weight can also be felt in my pockets which turned out to be a small bag of coins, probably my starting funds.
Before I made a single step, I suddenly felt a severe headache. New information suddenly appears in my brain. Such as the current situation of the world, its various cultures, various races and clans, different kinds of monsters and many more.
As suddenly it appeared, the headache also suddenly vanished. As if it never occurred in the first place.
As I got my bearings back, a sniffle returned me back to reality.
I looked behind me and saw the blue-haired goddess quietly crying. I just let her release her emotions. After an hour, she stopped crying.
"This is all my fault."
"At least you knew it."
"So I've been punished."
"That is right."
"I will defeat the Demon King." She declared as stood up and turned towards me.
"Will you help me? Please." She asked as she bowed her head.
Now, two goddesses have bowed their heads towards me. Towards someone like me. I felt irritated just by the thought of it.
So I looked at her in the eye and gave her my response.
"Don't worry, that's my mission."
[OOO]
It's been nearly 15 mins since the goddess and I talked.
We are currently walking towards the Adventurers' Guild of this city. Same with my old world, many people moved out of the way the moment they saw me, they started murmuring at each other as I passed by.
But as usual, I just ignored them as I looked at the surroundings of the fortified city.
According to the knowledge I received, this city is named the Fortress City of New Axel, the city that nurtures adventurers. It was named after the Town of Axel, the town of beginners, the starting point where adventurers first took a quest and started learning the basics of adventuring.
But the Town of Axel was destroyed by the Mobile Fortress Destroyer, a walking mechanical construct that is active for over a decade and destroys anything in its path.
Most citizens of the former Axel have evacuated to safety and migrated to various locations. But some people that cared for the town decided to build a new one under the management of Ignis Ford Dustiness, a noble from the former Axel.
Other notable figures from the former Axel are Luna, the current Guild Director of the New Axel Branch and Wiz, a powerful retired Archwizard and owner of a magic shop.
Those are the current relevant information that I have reviewed. There are still a lot but I'll look at it at a later time.
While I was busy thinking about all of that, the goddess and I have arrived at our destination.
"I'll do all the talking. So stay quiet." I said to the goddess sternly.
With an irritated expression, she replied. "Who do you think you are?! I am a go—" before she can say another word, I cut her off.
"I said be quiet. Proclaiming your identity will make you a target of the Demon King, just so you know." With that, she shuts her mouth tight and started trembling.
"H-hey, he wouldn't come here just for me? Right? Right?"
"I don't know. Maybe yes. Maybe not. But I suggest you hide it."
I took a glance at the childish goddess on which I found her nodding vigorously.
Good. At least she understands. If the Demon King were to find out there's a goddess here, he will surely send an army or someone powerful to end her. Meaning, the game will be over before the main quest even starts. Which is a bad end. Meaning...
I shook my head to clear away those negative thoughts and focus at the present.
With a determined gaze, I pushed the double door of the Adventurers' Guild and stepped inside.
After I opened the door, the commotion inside stopped as they stared in our direction. At first, they stared at the goddess behind me, then they switched their gazes towards me. Afterwards, hushed murmurs took place.
"W-welcome to the Adventurers' Guild! I-if you wanted to d-dine, take an empty seat. I-if you want to register, go to the counter!"
A barmaid greeted me hurriedly as she was the one near us, then hurriedly scurried away.
I ignored it as usual and moved in a composed manner.
"Hey, I just noticed. Why do people always stare at you?" The goddess behind me asked.
Without turning towards her, I replied. "Just ignore it."
Although she doesn't like the answer I gave her, she just silently followed behind me.
Just after a few steps, a guy with a mohawk remarked as I went past him.
"Boy, you look like you could kill someone just by looking at them. Mind having a chat?"
I stopped for a second to properly look at him. He has a muscular build evident from his visible body due to the lack of clothing and armor, rugged facial features reminiscent of a berserker, and a brown mohawk.
I sense that he was a veteran adventurer who has experienced a lot of things.
"What is it?"
"My my, don't give me that look. First of, where are you from? Judging from the weird get up, you're not from around here."
He said as he points at my clothing. I was still wearing a green tracksuit with black borders that I left open, white T-shirt underneath, black jeans, and a pair of sneakers. Just your typical casual get up.
"I came from somewhere distant. My goal is to kill the Demon King."
"Oho? Then welcome to the gates of hell! I bet you will fit right through it, hahahahaha." He said, his features twisted into something akin to a berserker in a rampage.
I noticed the goddess behind me hid further at my back. Not that I cared too much as I walked towards the counter.
There is a line made up of three people. But as soon as I got near, they moved aside to let me go first.
I was irritated by this treatment, but I let it slide as it was convenient for me.
The counter lady, who was a cute girl in the late teens, tensed up upon seeing me.
"H-hello sir! H-how may I help you today?"
"I want to be an adventurer."
I replied in a flat tone as I stared at the counter lady. The counter lady was panicking as she picked up the papers from behind the desk. Due to her panic, she ended up making a mess which further annoys me.
What a waste of time.
As I was about to open my mouth, a gorgeous blonde woman approached. From what the knowledge provided to me tells, her name must be Luna.
"I'll take things from here." Luna said and the young counter lady nodded her head and quickly moved out.
With professionalism, Luna quickly and gracefully tidies the mess the earlier counter lady did. She then took out two cards and some papers.
"Before we proceed, there is a registration fee of 500 eris." She said as I took 1 gold coin from the starting funds.
According to the knowledge I got, the currency most used in this world is named after the Goddess of Fortune, Miss Eris. A single eris is roughly equal to 1 yen. And there are different coins that represent different values. 1 copper coin is 1 eris, 1 silver coin is 100 eris, 1 gold coin is 1 000 eris.
There are also other coins made from magical metal that are worth more but are mostly used in payment between nations in large amounts.
Now, returning back to the present.
Luna took the gold coin and presented us with two separate forms.
The form contains basic information such as name, age, height, weight, hair color, and eye color.
I filled up the form, as for height, its 184 cm. For weight, its 74 kg and the hair and eye color are both black. The goddess also filled hers as well.
"Thank you. Now, I know the two of you want to become adventurers, so I assume you have some idea of what's involved. But just in case, please allow me to explain."
I straightened my posture in response. Although I have knowledge about it that I received, I want to see if both are similar.
"First of all, adventurers are those who fight monsters— that is, creatures who harm people—outside town."
Well, that was understandable. But hardly anything new.
"However, they are also jacks-of-all-trades. Adventurers is simply a generic term for those who have accepted this life as their vocation. Each one also has an occupation, or class if you will."
As expected, it follows the usual trope of fantasy. I wonder who added these features.
This class system was what defined an adventurer. Call it an occupation, a calling, a job, a class—this is where adventurers got to choose their fighting style.
You can be a warrior that specializes in offense or defense. A mage that specializes in various aspects of magic. A bowman. A spearman. A brawler.
The mere prospect of it has endless potential.
If this is a game that I play on a gaming console or pc, I would have chosen a meta class flavored to suit my taste.
But this is reality with my life and the world on the line. Treating it as a game is an insult to all warriors that died to save it.
While I was renewing my resolve, Luna then set a card in front of me and another in front of the goddess. It was about the size of a driver's license. I knew what it was, it was mentioned when I was skimming about any information. It is an Adventurer's Card.
"This is an Adventurer's Card, by dropping a drop of your blood into it, it will read it and projects some of your information and all available abilities. It also functions as an identification as well."
I see. So an item that functions as the status screen or window from many games.
I nodded my head to let Luna know that I followed, since she saved me time to look it up. She then moved on to the next topic.
"You see the line marked as level? As you know, every creature in this world has a soul within it. Whenever we eat or kill or otherwise end the life of another living thing, we absorb some portion of its memories. The memories we absorb are widely known as EXP or experience points. Typically, you can't see them. However..."
Luna then pointed to another part of the card.
"...this section will show an adventurer how many experience points he or she has gained. The corresponding level will be shown too. So the card is a guidepost to an adventurer's strength and also indicates how many monsters he or she has defeated. Any living thing, once gains enough experience, will suddenly and dramatically grow in its abilities. People often describe this as reaching a new plateau or, in a word, leveling up..."
So in other words, the leveling system of this world.
"At any rate, when your level goes up, you gain increased stats and may increase the overall rank of your skills as well. So make sure to work hard and raise your level."
Everything that was just explained was straight out of an RPG. Or perhaps this world is modeled after one? Or has this world become one?
I'll find out about it in the future. I have information. If it isn't included, then that means it is confidential information.
"Now, please drop some of your blood on these cards."
The goddess and I each took a card. While I was gazing over it, the goddess proceeded to go first.
She pricked her finger using the provided tool. Her blood dropped at the card, then it glowed a beautiful bright cerulean blue.
After a while, we can now see the stats of the goddess.

"Th-this is, apart from Intelligence and Luck which is way below average, all of your stats are higher than even an average level 25 adventurer! Not to mention, you have an enormous amount of mana and a skill already learned and raised to SS Rank!"
Many adventures turned their attention here because of Luna's surprise yell.
I know that these stats are high, as the average stats in this world is 10. Just that I think it's lower for a god, but Miss Eris said earlier that this goddess will have her power weaken and will be mortalized.
While the skill is indeed in SS-Rank, I assumed it was her authority as a god. So of course it's high.
In this world, people can learn skills which they can use in any activity. Like the normal skills back in my old world, like writing or drawing, a skill can be trained and mastered. Doing so increases its Rank and makes it more powerful and effective.
"With these stats, you can choose any class except Mage classes, as those require high Intelligence stats."
Luna said with a smile as she regained her composure. The murmurs from the adventurers become louder as well.
"Hmph! Of course it's high! Anyway, I will choose the Archpriest class!" The goddess exclaimed, clearly excited.
"Oh, Archpriest is it? It's an advance class that specializes in healing and support magic. It can also take part in the front lines as well. It's a versatile class!"
Luna took her card and registered her in the Archpriest class, Luna then handed her card back.
Now, it's my turn. I did the same procedure done by the goddess earlier. But this time, the card glowed emerald green. It then showed my stats and abilities.

"Wh-what! Forget about most of your stats that are average, h-how come your Luck is 4-digits! You also have two skills learned already!"
Luna once again yelled in surprise. She's not the only one, even the whole Guildhall was silent.
"D-do you think that he was an agent sent by the Goddess Eris?"
"W-well, yeah. I mean, how come you get a Luck stat that high?"
"B-but Luna said his stats are only average?"
"Idiot! Didn't Luna say he has two skills learned? Maybe those will help him!"
"Good theory! I didn't think of it!"
Now the Guildhall is noisy once again. Sigh.
"A-although many classes are closed for you at your current level except the Adventurer class that is always available, with this high Intelligence and Luck, you can be a Commander, Theif, or Merchant."
I handed my card to Luna and said, "Register me as the class, Adventurer, for now. That class suits my needs and will do for now."
"Pfft! Seriously, Adventurer? That's the weakest class!" Remarked the goddess with a brain equal in size to a ping pong ball.
"I don't need any boost from any class. What I need right now is the versatility which the class offers. Unlike other classes that have restrictions, the class has no drawbacks in exchange having no benefits. After picking my needed skills, I can freely change classes afterwards while still retaining the skills I learned."
I replied to the dumb goddess. Luna nodded in agreement and registered me into the class I requested.
Each class has strengths and weaknesses. Let's take the Warrior class for example. The Warrior class boosts the Strength and Vitality stats and makes learning warrior-related skill easier. Its downside is that it slightly weakens the growth of Magic and Mana stats and makes learning magic spells much harder.
The Adventure class meanwhile, has no stats alterations or restrictions and doesn't assist the learning of skills. Making the class just a placeholder until a person chooses another class.
Since I don't know what kind of approach I will choose, having no demerits to stat growth and learning will come in handy to pick up any useful skills.
As I pocket my card, I notice that the guild staff formed a line with Luna in the middle.
"We welcome both of you, Lady Aqua and Sir Satou. The entire Adventurers' Guild looked forward to your future exploits!"
The guild staff expressed their welcomes and bowed at the end. The adventurers cheered as well, mugs clanking loudly to each other, and friendly jeers can be heard as well.
The goddess, who was basking in all of the attention, declared. "Hmn hmmn. Just you guys watch! Kazuma and I will beat the Demon King and end his tyranny! Isn't that right Kazuma?! Kazuma?"
While she was busy being the center of attention, I walked away and headed to exit the Guild.
I needed to look around town and browse some equipment. But my main focus will be to try and learn any useful skills.
A/N: There isn't much happening, but we got to see a glimpse of my OOC Kazuma and Aqua. I also dropped a hint here and there.
