AN: Hi! It has been brought to my attention that some clarifications are in order. Marcus's age in the movies is 40ish when he was turned, and they had Caius in his early 20's. While in the books Marcus was 19 when he had been turned and Caius was in his 40's. I went by the book instead of the movies on many things. Like Harry Clearwater was given a heart attack by Victoria in the movies. While in the books Leah phasing is what gave Harry the fatal heart attack that killed him.

(Leah - POV)

We left the grand throne room of the Volturi. I watched them all as we left. I backed out of the throne room, watching. Demetri walked by me and just watched me with his head cocked to the side. I heard numerous feet behind me. I turned and saw a very beautiful vampire leading a group of humans towards the throne room, towards their deaths. My wolf snarled within. I wanted to help them. Alice grabbed my arm.

"Don't Leah, you will die if you do." Alice told me, "You'll leave Demetri alone again."

I audibly whimpered at her words. Demetri stood by me. I bit into my lip and walked away. I had to. I was a protector, but I could not harm my imprint in this way. The guilt of not helping would hurt me but harming Demetri; it would eat me alive. I would never recover from that. The sudden screams behind the door made me visibly shudder and I covered my ears as I squatted down on my haunches.

"Piccola?" Demetri's smooth voice came to me as he too, squatted down.

He covered my hands that covered my ears. Drowning the sound out all the more. I felt his gloved hands turn my face up towards him. He smiled at me. He had a beautiful smile. He leaned down and kissed me. His lips were surprisingly soft but were cold, reminding me that he was a Cold One. My mate was my natural born enemy. I pushed that thought from my mind. It didn't matter. He was mine, that was all that mattered to me.

He pulled away from me to let me breathe. I barely registered that the screaming had stopped. I sighed heavily in relief that it had stopped. A heavy feeling of guilt was in my stomach but that too would pass. I gracefully got back up to my feet. Demetri still hovering close to me. Surprising to me is that I'm okay with him hovering. Even with Sam, I wanted space. Even with others, friends and family, I always wanted space but not with him. The imprint proved to me how powerful it was. The need, the desire, to be near them. Now I knew just what the others had been going through. I sighed heavily. I was going to have to apologize to them. Maybe. Nah! They deserved my scorn. Well, all of them but my brother and maybe Jake.

Speaking of Jake and Seth, I looked to my cell phone. Since we had raced here, I still had my phone on airplane mode, apparently, I had forgotten to switch it back over while we had been in Pisa getting the yellow Porsche. I clicked it off, it took a few seconds to switch over then my phone began exploding in dings and vibrations. I stared at it until it stopped.

"Damn." I muttered under my breath and began to scroll.

"Hey sis, you get there, ok?" Seth messaged and I messaged him back.

"Leah, honey, are you alright? Call me when you can." Mom messaged me.

The rest I left unread. It was from the pack and the imprints, well not Claire, she is too little. I sighed. I hit my mother's icon and then the phone symbol and called her. It only took a couple rings, and she picked up. I could hear Seth in the background. It got louder so I guessed she put me on speaker.

"Leah, are you ok?" she asked.

"Yes, mom. I'm actually really good." I said to her, I was really good.

"Oh, thank goodness. No one could get ahold of you, so we were all worrying." she sounded relieved.

"Yeah, it was a rush at Pisa, so I forgot to turn my airplane mode off. We got where we were going, and I finally got a moment to check my phone.

"As long as you're alright that's what matters. Is Bella fine? Charlie has been worried sick." she asked.

"Yeah, Bella is alright. Tell him she is fine, and we should be coming home very soon." I answered her.

"I will tell him. Alright Seth, I'll let you talk to her." Mom said.

"Sis, how's Italy?" Seth asked excited.

"Pisa was gorgeous. Volterra is also nice. I didn't get to see a lot but what I did see was nice. I got a couple pictures." I told him.

"Bringing me anything back?" he asked, typical teen.

"Umm, I don't know right now. So far, the only thing I'm bringing back with me is my imprint." I stated.

"Mom! Leah's bringing back an Italian guy, she imprinted on him." Seth stated loudly.

"I'm Greek not Italian." I heard Demetri comment lowly.

"He's Greek, Seth, not Italian." I told my brother.

"Never mind, he's Greek." Seth said to mom.

I chuckled at my brother and shook my head. We spoke for a few more minutes and then I got off the phone. I put my phone away and leaned against the wall. I eventually sat on the floor and Demetri sat with me. I had noticed we all were sitting on the floor. Alice had Edward over with her and Edward was glaring daggers at Marcus, who was sitting with Bella and Felix. I wondered what that was about. Demetri and I spoke about each other, I wanted to know everything about him.

He was from Greece, Athens to be more exact. He had been born centuries ago. He couldn't remember the exact date, but it was around 400 A.D. Wow was all I could think. As a human he had a knack for finding things that were lost and had been lost for a long time. He was also really good at finding people as well. His gift had attracted the Egyptian coven leader, Amun. Amun turned Demetri to have his gift. His gift transitioned over from human to vampire. He is hailed as the greatest tracker in the world. All he has to do is meet someone just once, eye contact just one time, then he has the "flavor" of a person's mind, and he can find them anywhere in the world. They cannot hide from him. I was amazed.

I told him of myself. I'm 20 years old. I'm a protector of my tribe. It was a genetics thing, and I had no say in it. If I had of, I'd never have chosen to be one. I told him that he would have to wait and see what I meant by being a protector. It wasn't safe here for me to show him. I told him of my father's death, and I had been the cause. I told him that becoming a protector had taken everything from me. All my dreams had been smashed. My goals had been shelved to never come down. I didn't fully regret becoming a protector since it gave me my imprint. Gave me him.

Demetri had asked me my dreams. I had been accepted to college and the tribe said no, since I was a protector, I couldn't just leave. I had always wanted to travel and see the world beyond the tribal lands. But becoming a protector took that from me. I didn't want to stay now that I had him. I couldn't. I would go where he goes.

"It's time to go." Marcus announced.

We all stood and followed Marcus and Bella. Felix put himself between Bella and Edward. Alice kept a restraining hand on Edward. He was just proving my point all the more that he was a crybaby. He looked at me as that thought crossed my mind and he gave me a hate filled look. Demetri slapped him in the back of the head and inserted himself into Edward's line of sight towards me.

Marcus led us to a black SUV. Felix got in the driver's seat. He ordered Edward into the front passenger seat. He was to leave Isabella alone. Edward made to protest, and Alice pushed him to the front seat with an irritated look on her face. Marcus and Bella got in the back seats and Demetri, and I took the middle seats. Alice waved us on and said she had to get the Porsche back to the rental place and she would meet us at the airport. Felix drove like a bat out of hell towards the Pisa airport.

I fell asleep on the way to the airport. I had laid my head on Demetri's shoulder. When I woke, he had turned himself where his back was against the window, and I was on his chest with his arms around me. I yawned as I woke and carefully stretched as I sat up.

"You're so warm." he commented.

"All part of being a protector. Super-hot body temperature." I said.

Felix got us parked and we all shuffled out. I had wondered about tickets, but Felix was leading us towards the airfield. There was a plane off to the side on a private airstrip. I rolled my eyes, of course they have a private plane. Why not?
