In the spacious and luxurious circular room, the floor was paved with black polished marble, topped with a layer of pale gold, thick swan velvet carpet. The flawless walls, etched with elegant sky-blue reliefs, were adorned with patterns of golden lilies.
Above, the vaulted ceiling was painted with flamboyant and delicate murals, beneath which hung a luxurious twelve-arm crystal chandelier. The ambiance of romance and solemnity coexisted, exuding an air of graceful magnificence.
To the unknowing, one might think this was the imperial palace of the Baharuth Empire, where the Emperor met with his ministers. However, the massive red sandalwood bed inlaid with gold in the center, large enough for five people, clearly indicated that this was but a bedroom.
A skeleton dressed in an ivory silk nightgown lay quietly on the silk bed. It seemed as though the skeleton would forever lie here in this luxurious bedroom, but suddenly, a crimson glow burst forth from the black depths of its eye sockets, slicing through the peaceful darkness of the room.
Ainz Ooal Gown had awakened. Though it couldn't truly be said that he had woken up, as, since becoming undead, Ainz no longer required sleep. Lying in bed at night and rising in the morning, he simply continued the human routine from before he was transported to this world.
He couldn't help it; he was a traveler from another world, now turned undead. Some human habits were hard to shake. Moreover, during the long nights, apart from lying in bed and letting his thoughts drift into meditation, there was little else to do.
The subordinates of the Great Tomb of Nazarick were very skilled, both in combat and in governing the nation, hence Ainz had little administrative work to handle.
Though his loyal subordinates often sought his guidance with great reverence, Ainz could only offer some symbolic advice.
As a former mundane office worker, now commanding the mighty forces of the Great Tomb of Nazarick with hundreds of powerful subordinates, he often felt somewhat overwhelmed.
However, thanks to the formidable abilities of his subordinates, the conquest of the world continued smoothly.
Since the day Ainz used the Super-Tier Magic "Iä Shub-Niggurath" to annihilate 180,000 soldiers of the Kingdom's army within an hour, the two major human nations, the Re-Estize Kingdom and the Baharuth Empire, had one by one submitted to his newly founded Sorcerer Kingdom, becoming vassal states.
It was understandable for the Re-Estize Kingdom to submit to Ainz, as almost all of their main forces had been destroyed, and even their crown prince had been killed. But why had the Baharuth Empire also requested to become a vassal state? Ainz was deeply puzzled.
After the one-sided massacre of the Kingdom's army, Ainz personally went to the Baharuth Empire's capital to duel with the champion of the arena, the Martial Lord, to express his goodwill towards Emperor Guilnunder.
However, after the duel, Emperor Guilnunder had, trembling, requested to become a vassal state, which greatly confused Ainz.
Ainz had also planned to befriend Guilnunder, to learn from him the manners and art of governance, but that now seemed impossible.
Reflecting on these events, Ainz sighed softly, turned over in bed, and opened the neckline of his silk nightgown, preparing to change into his robe. Looking at the robe hanging on the rack, enchanted to never get dirty, a robe of black and red embroidered with gold, he suddenly felt like changing his clothes.
Ainz pressed a magical bell on his desk to summon the maid Yuri Alpha.
"Ding~" As the bell rang, before Ainz could give his orders to the maids on the other side of the door, the bedroom door was abruptly smashed open. A lithe, white bird rushed into the bedroom, spreading its black wings, and swooped toward Ainz by the bed.
"Lord Ainz!" Albedo pressed the unsuspecting Ainz onto the bed, her flawless face gleaming with an intoxicated and alluring desire.
She pulled open Ainz's nightgown, rubbing against his exposed chest, her voice dripping with enchantment:
"Lord Ainz in his nightgown, so sexy! Ah! This solid chest, this perfect sternum. Surely, Lord Ainz, you're hinting at what I should do! It's not in vain that I waited outside the bedroom all night!"
Albedo, wearing white evening gloves, untied the bow tie of Ainz's nightgown, preparing for the next step.
"Hey! Albedo, what are you doing!" Ainz struggled under her, his heart filled with complaints.
Before crossing over to this other world, in a playful mood, Ainz had changed Albedo's setting from "unfaithful" to "now in love with Momonga," resulting in the current situation.
("Momonga" was Ainz's game name, and after crossing over from the game to this world, Momonga had renamed himself after the game guild's name—Ainz Ooal Gown.)
Albedo had always expressed her love for Ainz with an almost crazed fervor, but since his transformation into a high-level undead, his desire for romantic affection had gradually faded. Additionally, as a skeletal undead, he lacked the means to satisfy Albedo's desires, leaving him no choice but to stiffly reject her advances.
"Let me go! I command you to release me!"
Ainz, pinned under Albedo, strained to emit a commanding tone.
Under normal circumstances, Albedo would have dashed through fire and water to obey his commands, but now, with her black wings spread wide and a seductive gaze, she rubbed against him like a cat, completely oblivious to his words.
The Overlord Ainz struggled to push away Albedo, who lay on top of him, but Albedo was Nazarick's strongest shield in terms of combat power; she was not so easily pushed aside.
Fortunately, others in the Great Tomb of Nazarick sensed something was amiss.
Shalltear Bloodfallen was the first to burst in, her face pale with shock, she shouted, "You big-mouthed ape! How dare you get ahead of me! Lord Ainz is mine!"
After her outburst, she grabbed Albedo's arm and tugged hard. The maid Yuri Alpha also rushed in, grabbed Albedo, and pulled back, while another maid, Solution Epsilon, joined in, grabbing Yuri's waist to add force to the pull.
Sebas Tian, clad in a black tailcoat, jogged in, seized Albedo's other arm, and together with the others, they pulled like in a tug of war and finally managed to separate Albedo from Ainz. Sebas, holding the still struggling Albedo, executed a slight apologetic bow and slowly backed out of Ainz's bedroom.
Ainz exhaled in relief only for the petite Shalltear to leap onto him, her limbs wrapping around his body like an octopus, her eyes pitiful as she looked up at Ainz and whimpered, "Lord Ainz, I want some too~."
"Stop it…" Ainz, flustered, found himself embroiled in another battle to push Shalltear away…
Once the chaos ended, Ainz, now dressed properly, inspected the Great Tomb of Nazarick and ascended to his throne. Along the way, he greeted each of the floor guardians, but Albedo was nowhere to be seen. According to Sebas, Albedo had secluded herself in her room, trapped in a self-imposed isolation due to her embarrassment.
Ainz intended to console Albedo, but ultimately, he stopped in front of her room, uncertain how to address her nearly insane infatuation. A part of him sensed that Albedo's unrequited love might lead to trouble one day.
Though Ainz, in his life before crossing over, had never even experienced first love, he had seen enough in the anime "School Days" about Makoto Itou's cautionary tale to be profoundly shocked.
Reviewing the reports on his desk, Ainz sighed softly and began to handle state affairs. Although there were many reports, Ainz's role was more akin to that of a rubber stamp.
The NPCs' capabilities were exceptional, whether in conquering other countries or managing the Great Tomb of Nazarick, everything was conducted in an orderly manner.
Reading the reports filled with clever strategies and plans, Ainz worried that his own commands might mess things up.
It seemed he needed to make more incognito visits to the Baharuth Empire's capital, to observe Emperor Guilnunder's demeanor closely and learn how to be an effective ruler. Resolved, Ainz opened the next report.
"Hmm, not bad. Cocytus has trained the indigenous lizardmen into a fine force; I couldn't have done it myself. I wonder how Demiurge is doing in the Roble Holy Kingdom? According to his last update, the ranch operations have entered a virtuous cycle, and parchment continues to be delivered to the Great Tomb of Nazarick without my intervention."
Ainz opened a few reports from subordinates who had left the Great Tomb of Nazarick and found nothing that required his intervention.
"Why do I suddenly feel a bit bored?" Ainz looked up at the gilded ceiling and sank deeper into his gold-armrest chair covered in fox fur.
"Sigh, it would be nice to find the other Supreme Beings. Even if not them, finding other transmigrants would also be good."
Unbeknownst to the naïve and innocent Overlord Ainz, on the distant borders of the Baharuth Empire, a Heroine had already breached the void, traveling millions of miles solely for him.
