The Saiyan Devil
Chapter 25
On a scorched battlefield, the sound of crackling fire filled the air, mixing with the sound of raucous explosions.
A short figure could be seen zooming across the desolate landscape. Another figure, significantly taller, matched the shorter individual's speed.
As the two figures clashed, their fists created an intense shockwave that echoed through the air. Standing about 5'4, the first figure was a slender man with lightly tanned skin. His black but spiky short hair gave the impression of a man who couldn't care much about his hair.
His clothing was a black, tight, sleeveless shirt with gold linings near the collar and chest. A large red scarf was wrapped around his waist, falling down the middle of his black baggy pants tucked into high-top brown boots. He also wore brownish fingerless gloves long enough to be considered wristbands.
The other was a humanoid bull, like a Minotaur, wearing dark purple pants and a white toga wrapped around his chest and waist. His dark purple skin blended with black dots. His black horns were curved back, similar to a ram.
The two fighters broke away from each other, gaining distance to catch their breath. The man seemed energized, with not even a bead of sweat on his face, while the bull-like humanoid was taking large gulps of air. His chest moved up and down, and his heart pounded like a hammer against his chest.
"I guess this is where our fight ends, huh?"
"W-what! Are you looking down on me?"
The man crossed his arms, and his face scrunched as he raised a finger.
"My sister would be the one to look down on you, not me. I want to say I'm amazed you're this strong despite working for that guy," The man exclaimed with narrowed eyes.
"Tch, I thought it was false, but you two must be the Twin Beasts. You even outclass the Saiyan Devil," The bull alien gulped, his hooves stepping back as a tight grip began to coil around his heart.
"Ah! If I remember right…that's Celeon, ain't it?"
"Y-you don't know?"
"Hehe…not really."
"But you're a Saiyan as well!"
"Yeeeeah, but that doesn't mean I know every Saiyan," The Saiyan shook his head.
On the other side of the battlefield, two more figures were in the heat of an intense battle.
The first was a female, standing at 5'7, with brownish-black, medium-length hair, with most of her hair covering the left side of her face and her eyes as black as the abyss.
She wore a tight, dark blue compression shirt, a red sash, and baggy dark blue pants tucked into high-top brown boots, with the top of the boots being white. She also wore brown fingerless gloves.
Her opponent was a dark purple humanoid goat with curved chalk-white horns. They had wool around their neck, acting as a mane, and they wore tight black pants with a brown fur pelt wrapped around their waist.
The goat man raised his right hand, and the ground around them began to quake, cracking into pebbles as they floated into the air.
"You'll die today, Saiyan!"
"Ugh, if I had Zeni for every time I heard that, I'd be able to retire!"
"Don't underestimate me!"
"You talk too much. I'll wait for you to attack," The female Saiyan yawned as she folded her arms.
The goat man's eyes snapped with bubbling fury, and bulging veins appeared around his temples as the swirling rocks above him began to ignite into flames, causing the air to heat up.
"You'll regret looking down on me! Die!"
With a shake of her head, the Saiyan positioned her right leg back. The large fireball, descending upon her like a meteor, didn't ignite any worry inside her. Her black eyes lit up as she stared at the incoming attack, and she kicked upward within a blink of an eye.
The goat man's pupils shook as his attack was suddenly split in half by the Saiyan. Confusion and anger began to swirl and mix inside him, creating a deep sense of panic to erupt. His pride was immediately shattered as he looked into the eyes of the Saiyan.
They looked at him as if he was nothing but an insignificant worm groveling on the ground under the scorching sun!
He instinctively stepped back, and within a moment, a figure crashed in front of him.
"Cran?" The alien goat responded with a parched throat.
The figure, a humanoid bull, lay unconscious with spit trailing his mouth.
"Well, Berry, it seems like my brother finished yours off quite easily," The Saiyan's voice only intensified the fear in the humanoid goat's chest. His heart felt like it was going to burst and run away.
"Sister, you ain't finished yet?"
"Yeah, we are. I just took pity and didn't knock him out."
The male Saiyan floated next to the female, further increasing the anxiety in Berry's eyes.
"You shouldn't belittle your opponent, sister."
"Shut it, Kabu."
"Ha…sorry, Karela. You know how I am."
The goat man immediately scribbled the air with a finger, causing the two Saiyans to raise a brow.
"Another magic trick?"
"You made a big mistake today, Twin Beasts!" In a flash of pink, the two humanoid aliens disappeared.
"Well, I doubt they'll be a problem in the future, but we'll take them out next time," Karela sighed.
The mission was to aid this planet take out the source and, as a last resort, kill whoever was responsible. Karela knew that something like this was due to that guy's plot, but completely wiping out the life on the planet seemed different from the norm.
"Ah! Miss Karela and Mister Kabu, the enemy forces are retreating!"
A cream-colored individual resembling an elf spoke up with a heavy breath of relief.
"So it seems, Chief," Karela rubbed her neck, her thoughts lingered on the destruction of this planet.
Cran and Berry were wanted criminals. Berry is a soul stealer, which enchants his magic attacks with greater power. The stronger the individual, the better their soul is.
Cran is an impressive fighter with an Axe, but it looked like Kabu destroyed it as he wasn't seen with it before his departure.
"I'm sure you two must be hungry after the fight. Although recovery will take some time, the least we can do is bestow upon you our best dishes!"
The residents of the planet all cheered, shouting Karela and Kabu's names.
"Food! Sign me up," Kabu immediately responded, his mouth watering at the thought of Elfin Food.
Before Karela could respond, her wrist vibrated, getting her attention. A holographic screen appeared, and Karela raised a brow.
"Why're you using King Sadala's line?" Karela demanded with restraint. She didn't want to shout at one of the Saiyan Soldiers on the other end in front of everyone.
"Sorry, Lady Karela, but you two must return immediately. We fear that there may be more of you in our ranks."
Karela's eyes shrunk, with her skin paling. She knew what the Guard was referring to, but it should be impossible for anyone to be like her and Kabu.
"We'll be there in a day's time. I am to believe the suspected Saiyans will be at Cornupia?"
"Yes!"
"Good, I want to see who else could've achieved it personally…"
"Sister, can we stay for food?"
"No, we have urgent business back on Sadala,"
Kabu deflated.
"Ah, maaaaaan."
Present day.
In the royal capital, due to the news of the King's right and left hand returning, everyone made an effort to pay their respects. A festive atmosphere filled Cornupia, with the belching chorus of laughter and joy filling the air.
The group, consisting of Celeon, Cabba, Caulifla, and Kale, walked with controlled steps. Caulifla wore a scowl, seeing all the various signs and food carts. She hated being here with a passion.
The people and the way things operate here pissed her off. She lived in a far-off piece of land away from most populated cities because not every Saiyan has the same luxury as the ones here.
Seeing the food being used for such things as welcoming two individuals while countless others starved reminded her of her hate.
Celeon noticed the look in Caulifla's eyes and sighed. He had known her since childhood, considering his parents taught her directly alongside him. Caulifla's older brother worked under his mother, but he quit the Defense Force after a severe injury.
"We're only here for a few days at most, Caulifla. Once that's over, we'll leave."
"Hmph, I'm only here because I need to look out for the three of you. I can't let these pricks boss ya' around."
Celeon understood what that meant, causing him to smile. The skylight was luminous today as if offering its light as a token of appreciation to the twin Saiyans, also known as the Twin Beasts.
Celeon only met them occasionally; if he remembered correctly, they were unlike any other Saiyan. Their strength was unparalleled, and their coordination made the entirety of the Defense Force's well-respected teams look like children in comparison.
And most of all, they were also exclusively trained by the King.
"Let's just hope things go smoothly. I don't want to start a senseless fight," Cabba couldn't hold in his worries, knowing Caulifla's hotheadedness. He knew they wouldn't be in danger if a fight did happen.
Still, avoiding a fight was his main priority.
"Don't worry, no fight will happen."
The group continued down the main road. Their gazes fixated on the royal palace. All held mixed feelings about seeing it, whether remembrance, anger, or sadness; they knew that any conflict would immediately lead to exile or worse.
…
King Sadala sat on his throne, staring outside the large, round windows. The sound of his people made his heart swell with pride and joy.
He loved his people, and he would even go to the frontlines to ensure their safety. However, with his child at the age of 3, he remained in his palace.
The king couldn't continue his thoughts in silence as constant tapping echoed through his throne room.
"Your majesty! Sir Cabba, Celeon, Kale, and Caulifla have arrived!"
Sadala moved his head and stared at the newcomers. His gaze was sharp like a blade, but none flinched as this was a usual occurrence.
"Very well, you may leave and await the arrival of my commanders."
"At once!" The Saiyan guard left hurriedly, not wanting to witness whatever may happen in the throne room.
"King Sadala, it's great to see you again," Cabba spoke first, his tone filled with admiration and caution as he knew firsthand how the King was.
"At ease, you're still one of the best Captains and one of my trusted friends."
Cabba nodded with a respectful bow.
The King's gaze shifted, meeting the other Saiyans. Caulifla turned her head away while crossing her arms, while Kale seemed to fidget. Celeon remained silent, not knowing what to say.
"Are you four aware of why I requested your presence?" The King stood from his throne, and the air in the room seemed to collapse under a ferocious pressure.
The four Saiyans couldn't help but sweat. This force was undeniably strong, carrying the weight of royalty and an enormous fury.
"By normal standards, even the Captains don't exude such power that you four have. Kale may be good at keeping it under wraps, but I can see the bottomless pit from here."
As the King moved forward, his steps were equivalent to a herd of elephants, powerful and highly dangerous if on the receiving end. His steps cracked the red stone floor, but his movement didn't seem to weaken or grow sluggish.
"So answer this question with complete honesty."
.
.
.
"Which one of you have achieved it?"
AN: I took a break last week but didn't realize it was longer than I thought. So sorry for the late upload. We get introduced to two Saiyans, Karela and Kabu, who were pitched by my friend, who would use them for his story but didn't have the time to write it.
Anyway, I have nothing else to say but eat, sleep, and drink water.
