Alright, so it begins! After a short delay due to that weird... whatever the heck that was down in Texas, we're finally getting Nexus into congress!
...Sadly not as a member. Too young for that, even if I think it'd be really cool!
Few friendly reminders for those who don't go to the cesspool of the politics section here: All claims made MUST be sourced. If someone calls you out on something, you have to give some sort of evidence to explain where you are getting your claim. It doesn't have to be good evidence per se, but be prepared to be called out if you use .com as an impartial source. Even if things get heated, attack the argument, not the poster. Doesn't matter if the guy has a brain size of a walnut, you still shouldn't point that out (here. Elsewhere is fine) As this is Cape politics, normal rules for parahuman discussion also stands. If you're watching the hearing, they usually give the same speech about 'not threatening the secret identity of a cape with their questions' and all that jazz, but same goes here.\
Yes, everyone and their mom knows who Nexus really is. Don't make it awkward by reminding everyone of that for no reason.
With that out of the way, let the show begin!

Wooo, time to see muh gurl take on the greatest threat the world has ever known!
Politicians droning on about tax code violations!
...
Wait, what Texas thing?

Jfc, I knew letting the brain-dead cape lovers into the politics section was going to be bad, but really? How did you not hear about that whole mess last week? Alexandria and the Oathbound both had to jog down and smooth out that whole... whatever it was. That's to say nothing of what's happening to the Governor due to his abysmal handling of it (Seriously, giving the National Guard commands to 'shoot to kill' on live TV? WTF)

Ok, so do people ACTUALLY believe that nonsense about Nexus warping the world and causing all this weird shit? Correlation is not causation, and the 'source' of all these rumors is sketchy as hell.
Like, yeah, she's one of, if not THE most powerful capes in the world, but why would she her powers be warping the world the way it is?
► Abetho
Posted on April 8, 2011:
I mean, looking at the recent weirdness, you do have to kinda admit that, even if she isn't directly doing it, her powers certainly rhyme with what's going on lately.
Hell, doesn't she already have an army of sapient pigeons of her own? It's pretty obvious why people are drawing comparisons between that and the suddenly return of Mongol Horde 2: The Martial Mongoling.

I just want to know why she made a random flying city above my house. It's blocking the sun at my place from 2-3 PM every day!
I'm already vitamin d deficient, please don't make it worse for me!

Man. I knew she was strong, but she's literally a walking nuke. And she can give repeat performances too.

That sounds about what would be needed to kill an Endbringer tbf. At least she's one of the sane ones, and she killed the one creature who likes to drive such sane capes insane already.
Still, agreed, a very FUN way to start this off. Love the expression on Declan's face though, lmao

TFW you have to specify what scale they mean, then have to mention the various ways you could do it, and then specify even further as to what levels of destruction would take what amount of timje.

Ok, so we all agree to just throw out the parahuman rating system for her and just label her as 'Nexus: Just Fucking Run' now, right?
Because accidentally pulling a Jesus on a mass scale is a biiiiiiit beyond the norm...

"Magic"
Wait, she's serious? I always though Nexus was just playing around, not that she thought it was REAL magic.
Man, that's worrying.
► Kuenko
Posted on April 8, 2011:
Eh, she's fifteen, and has the power of a god. If she want's to say her ability to bring people back from the dead (by accident ofc) is magic, I'm sure as hell not going to second guess her

McClure is, perhaps, the most satisfied looking rep in congress I have ever seen. You can tell the dude is just DREAMING of getting the 'infinite reelection cheat code' unlocked.
► SereneHomura
Posted on April 8, 2011:
Dude, she's basically making flying Hogwarts and saying 'Yeah, I got powers to hand out for days'. I genuinely can't blame him for looking that way.
► DawnMorgan
Posted on April 8, 2011:
Oh, McClure is actually a pretty decent sort. Not really political, but I've voted for him the past three elections cause there's been no real scandals, and he's actually gotten us some stuff before. Which, given the shithole BB used to be, was actually a minor miracle.
He's a pretty junior politician though, so he didn't really have any pull. Until, ya know, BB suddenly became the home of the most powerful cape who cannot yet vote. Something tells me he's suddenly getting a look of good deals for his district.

Cause I suddenly feel that might become very important in short order.

The Wise Yeah, they're apparently tinkers of some sort. But I don't think they said much about what they were about?
Other than the new little robo guy that's been following her, we didn't really see them do much.

Get in line bud, I'm pretty sure everyone under the age of 100 is suddenly looking into going back to school.
► Goober
Posted on April 8, 2011:
So wait, this means you can learn powers? (Or magic as she puts it?)
Wow, I'm pretty sure the world is about to explode. If superpowers aren't luck of the draw anymore, and anyone can get them, that radically changes how we handle capes. Like, it means we can spam 'create heroic capes' reliably, which means heroes won't have to ever worry about being outnumbered.
It means the Protectorate can recruit from a much larger pool. It means that a lot of restrictions on parahuman powers in the market might go the way of the dodo, since if it's just a matter of going to college to get the skill, there's no unfair competition.
