Chapter 35 : Betrayal

As Alexa was sitting against the walls of the prison that held the God of War captive. She kept attempting to focus on her reading from a favorite book she held close to her. She could have focused even after weeks after Lincoln made an abrupt exit from their home with Lily who she held deeply to her heart as she does with Linka whether it is by blood or not. She gave up on trying to read. She threw the book adjacent to her and laid herself against the wall and repeatedly slammed the back of her cranium against the wall behind her. She had no idea what to say to Lincoln when she saw him again. She is still in disbelief at what happened. Alexa couldn't process his actions. Lincoln was always a good natured child growing up. There were very few times she had to discipline him and he rarely got in trouble. As Alexa continued to lay herself against the wall of the dungeon she had her thoughts meet an abrupt disruption from the Dungeon's gate being opened. She opened her eyes to see none other than Persephone. Alexa was taken back by her entrance. After their relationship ended almost ten years ago the two rarely said a word to one another. She bore no resentment towards her wish to end their relationship but she always knew there was something off about her when they were together. Their time together made her little family with Lincoln and Artemis a little more complete. Lincoln loved her and Persephone had mutual feelings with him and spent a lot of time with him. She always had a smile when she saw Lincoln. Alexa's thoughts on their previous relationship ended as Persephone approached her and sat down next to her.

"How has Linka and Artemis been after Lincoln's departure?" Persephone asked her abruptly.

Alexa did not wish to answer that question because she truly hated to dwell on those thoughts. However she knew she couldn't avoid it so Alexa composed herself and confronted her aversion to the topic and answered.

"Linka misses them both. She had been sleeping with me ever since their departure weeks ago. She has been spending a lot of time with Donna."

The two are both demigods and bonded more so after Lincoln and Lily's departure since Linka was lonely without her brother and sister. Alexa then continued.

"Diana and Artemis have been sparing with each other more often to distract themselves. "

Since Diana developed her powers Artemis has been on the losing end of their sparring matches but every spar, Artemis holds her own against Diana's enhanced strength and reflexes.

Persephone stared at Alexa's eyes and asked.

"How have you been?"

Alexa felt uncomfortable by her staring and stood up facing the wall in front of her so she could avoid eye contact. As she became more comfortable she answered.

"I feel rage, disappointment, shock, and anxiety. I am beyond rageful of Lincoln's actions and I'm worried for Lily. She knows nothing about man's world and she is much younger than Lincoln when he first ventured to his original home 4 years ago and we know how that turned out."

Persephone dwelled on her thoughts and spoke.

"You should have trust in Lincoln. What he did was stupid but he is a smart man and has a good heart. I'm sure he never intended to hurt you guys. He loves you and wants to make amends with his birth family. I know he'll return to you. If he reconciles with his parents. I doubt that'll truly matter in the end because he knows that you are his true mother. Even when not bound by blood you are his family. You know he didn't want to hurt you in the way he did. "

Alexa felt comforted by that truth she heard. She did feel her heart feel lighter from her words.

" I know. I truly am aware of his intent. However I still can't not feel the wrath of his actions. I want to not feel this but I do. "

Persephone then proceeded to put her hand on her shoulder in a comforting motion. Alexa felt relieved and her heart skipped a beat from Persephone's actions. Alexa responded to her actions.

"If you don't have anything planned afterwards guard duty is over. How about you follow me ho—. " Alexa's words were cut short as she felt Persephone's sword through her chest. Persephone carefully lowered the wounded Alexa down to the dungeon's floor and as she laid her head against the stone floor beneath them. She planted a kiss on her lips. And spoke.

"I truly enjoyed our relationship years back and I wished we could have made it work between us. However I have aspirations that go beyond any amazon I need to reach and I chose the man who will help me reach them."

Persephone monologues her thoughts as she walks towards Ares' cell and unlocked it and opened the door for the bondage god. The two shared a kiss with each other. Ares' proceeded to move towards the injured Alexa and suffocate her. Alexa was unable to resist due to her injury. She began to black out and her last thought was that she will never be able to see or speak to her son again.
