Blabbermouth
AN: A Hinny oneshot with a side of Romione and a smidgen of Gimione because it's nice to branch out. Slightly Au version of HBP.
So, in the book obviously Ron and Ginny have that big blow up which makes Ron treat everyone like trash which leads to him and Hermione having the liquid luck fight. I realised halfway through writing this that the book version probably won't work as well for this oneshot, so I'm going with the movie version instead, but book canon will still be applied before the scene comes ups.
However, Dean and Ginny aren't together in this. Pretend she starts dating Dean from fourth year into the early part of Fifth year first and then Michael for the rest of fifth year before they break up just so that can fit with the book.
Hope you enjoy.

Ginny was not a troublemaker, well not to the degree that her twin brothers were. She liked a little mischief as much as the next girl, but she didn't usually get up to tricks of her own accord. Usually, her tricks were for Fred and George when they needed help pulling off one of their pranks but today, she was using her skills to assist elsewhere, particularly where it concerned Hermione.
Hermione who had frustratingly gone back to her roots for the past two months since they had been back at Hogwarts.
Ginny had hoped after what had transpired at the burrow, that Hermione would be... well less Hermione but alas Hermione had been the same old her, with the exception of asking Ron to Slughorn's Christmas party.
Still it wasn't enough in Ginny's opinion not when she knew there was another side to Hermione Granger waiting to be unleashed.
You see, Hermione was a blabbermouth. Not that she knew that of course and not consciously either, no, Hermione was a drunk blabbermouth.
During the summer when Hermione had come to visit the burrow for the last two weeks of it, Hermione was the same old Hermione that Ginny had come to love and know but she was also aware that the girl was rather on edge even whilst being with them.
At first Ginny had considered that Hermione was just nervous to be with Ron as it was clear as the sun that the two of them liked each other and neither party seemed willing to admit it but upon further analysis of the elder witch Ginny realized that wasn't the case, perhaps in part but not fully and even then that seemed to be more Ron's domain especially without Harry around.
But Ginny realised that Hermione was more on edge due to the state of the wizarding world. That wasn't a surprise of course.
Whilst herself, Hermione and the entire order had believed Harry from end of her third year at Hogwarts about the resurrection of you know who, it was terrifying to now know he was truly out there and in the open.
After that night of traveling to the ministry of magic, you know who had been exposed, physically seen by many aurors and the former minister of magic who had resigned shortly after he found out. The Daily Prophet then began printing story after story and suddenly everyone now believed that he was back, especially when the killings began.
It had been rather morbid to read about attack after attack. No one felt safe. Her own mother had kept a tight leash on her during the summer afraid that the death eaters would attack any minute. They never did but it was enough fear to keep her, and Ron locked up and that had frustrated Ginny to no end.
Her pleas to visit Diagon Alley or even play quidditch outside had fallen on death ears and so she had to use other means to not be under lock and key by her mother. Sleeping draughts in her tea and firewhiskey.
Molly Weasley was a lot of things, but a drinker was not one of them, and light doses of firewhiskey could also put the woman right to sleep.
Ginny had found this out when she was ten years old after her mother had been making butterbeer cake but had accidently used firewhiskey instead. Her mother had become ridiculously tipsy before passing out. Ginny for some oddity had been fine. She had tried the cake laced with firewhiskey and enjoyed it. She wouldn't later try the liquid by itself until she was fourteen, when Sirius Black had let her try some of his around Christmas.
It was strong in its natural liquid form, and she had gotten warm chested but apparently Ginny was no lightweight.
She loved the stuff.
One of her roommates did too and Ginny had used some tricks to win a bottle from the girl and she had taken it home.
It had been useful to her during the cooped-up summer in truthful and when she realised that something was wrong with Hermione, she had coaxed the girl to have a glass and loosen up.
Hermione had never tried the drink before, and curiosity got the better of her.
Hermione was a lightweight like her mother. Two glasses of firewhiskey had Hermione Granger become a whole new person.
Hermione with the first glass had told Ginny how she really felt about everything.
She was afraid for her parents and for her own life what with being Harry's best friend. She was afraid for Harry's of course. She was afraid for all muggleborns. That night at the ministry had rattled her because she had been taken down so quickly and could've easily died.
She was stressed that the now open war would affect her grades this year.
She was also stressed that she hadn't lived her life much. That her head was always in books. How she barely had friends outside Harry, Ron, herself, Neville and Luna. How she thought she would die fighting in this war because she would do everything in her power to stand by Harry's side if the rumours of him being the chosen one were true.
The second glass turned Hermione into something else, however.
She was giggly, flirtatious and a blabbermouth.
Ginny had been wise to also use sleeping draught on her brother that night so they could talk in peace. Her father being at work and Phlegm being on a date with Bill. So, no one but her had heard about how Hermione Granger fantasised often about being with Ron rather intimately going beyond wanting to kiss him.
No one heard how Hermione Granger had relayed tales of her parents' intimacy when they thought she hadn't overheard them and how she wished she could be like them, playing muggle games like spin the bottle and never have I ever. Which rather intrigued Ginny.
No one heard how Hermione complained that she didn't believe she was a good kisser and how she wanted to redo her first kiss over with Ron instead of Viktor Krum.
No one heard how Hermione granger wanted to be much more of free spirited like Ginny herself.
No one saw how Hermione Granger had turned to Ginny and asked her how to be like her before smashing her lips down on Ginny's.
Ginny had been taken by surprise by the action but didn't back away and kissed back.
Ginny had no feelings for Hermione, but she realised that drunk Hermione with all these rabid desires was clawing her way to the surface, who had been locked behind book smart, always perfect Hermione.
She needed this moment and Ginny obliged her.
Ginny surprisingly found it nice, even tingle worthy. The firewhiskey taste of her tongue infused Ginny to deepen the kiss, and push Hermione down, showing her what kissing really could be.
Her kisses with Michael had never been that good but they had with Dean. Kissing Dean was much more intense, attraction wise. They had only broken up because romantic wise their connection wasn't the same and they had chosen to remain friends.
So, using that as inspiration she used her tongue exactly like how Dean did with her.
It had the desired affect because Hermione moaned in her mouth before pulling away, clearly tipsy and flustered. Her eyes were closed as she panted.
"Wow..." Murmured Hermione sleepily. The firewhiskey was now taking a hold fully. Ginny was impressed that Hermione had lasted this long.
"We...sh... should... do that again... sometime Ron." Said Hermione before drifting off entirely.
Ginny's eyes had widened before a snort escaped her and she silently laughed to herself for a few minutes.
"Gotta love the one-track mind Mione." Said Ginny as she watched the sleeping girl before covering her up with a blanket.
She didn't mind at tall that Hermione thought she was Ron. It was the firewhiskey talking and it had revealed a side to Hermione Granger that Ginny didn't think she was truly capable of having.
When the next morning arrived Hermione, Ron and Her mother couldn't remember any of the nights pervious events although Hermione had stared at Ginny for a long moment when she thought Ginny wasn't looking but shook her head. Ginny didn't bring up anything to Hermione.
Except small hints about missing dating and kissing, throughout the summer causing Hermione and Ron to flush and take secret glances at one another.
The rest of the summer had gone off without a hitch and when Harry arrived Ginny found herself thinking more about her kiss with Hermione and wishing how it could've been him instead. Every time he was near her, her mind went back to that kiss and even some of her dreams had continued the fantasy further that drunk Hermione would be proud of.
Ginny had put those fantasies away when school had started back and had kept an eye on Hermione to see how she would act.
Of course it was ridiculous to assume that Hermione would become a completely new person without the influence of firewhiskey but Ginny had expected her to at least act on some of her desires as they had clearly been plaguing her all summer but other than Ron which was a bare minimum of her desires, she had been working herself like crazy, not letting loose and had had her head stuck in the Daily Prophet when she could. Keeping up with everything that was going on outside the castle.
Ginny had decided enough was enough.
She set to put a plan in motion one which included sending an owl to her brothers.
After Gryffindor won their first quidditch match of the season, the post-match party was kicked into high gear.
Butterbeer, punch and snacks were everywhere, someone had put on their wizard wireless to play music and spirits were high. Ron's especially. After Luna had come to the table and informed Ron that Harry had put Liquid luck into his drink, Ron had swooped up the goblet and drank every last drop. Ginny saw the smirk on Harry's face and immediately realised it was a ploy of Harry's that Luna had been in on to make him play as well as he did.
Ron was marvelling in the attention everyone was giving him, but Ginny was close by and had to fend some of it off discreetly including the attempts from Lavender Brown who looked like she was eager to snog his face off.
Ginny had noticed the crush weeks ago and she was sure Hermione had too.
Luckily, she knew how to divert Lavender and two hours into the party she had intercepted the girl for the sixth time by complimenting her hair and feeding her some gossip she would go wild over with Parvati.
It did the trick. The girl went running to find her best friend.
As the party continued some of the quieter Gryffindors were suddenly becoming wilder. The younger Gryffindors were becoming noticeably more tired and all the first to fourth years retreated to their dormitories.
Ginny turned to where Hermione was standing. The bushy haired witch was swaying to the music, her eyes closed, her hands in the air, in a world of her own with a massive grin on her face.
Ginny smiled at her work.
The girl was finally letting loose and looked like she didn't have a care in the world.
Hermione wasn't alone. Others were dancing in their own worlds, some kissing and some like Neville who was suddenly stood straight and started dazzling a couple of girls with a story and some jokes.
Ginny's smile widened.
She felt a little bad about spiking everyone's drinks, but it was only a little and no one would be forced to do anything they didn't want to do. The potion that she had asked Fred and George for was to loosen everyone's inhibitions, with the pretence that she was gonna unleash some massive prank on the Slytherins.
Her brothers had obliged her. She then put a strong charm on the punch making sure that only the younger years would drink from it and be affected by the sleeping draught she put in it and the older years would get confused and want butterbeer instead which was laced with the inhibition potion and was charmed so that the younger ones wouldn't want the butterbeers.
Ginny turned her eyes back to Hermione who had stopped dancing and to Ginny's surprise had found Ron and began kissing him.
Ron was taken by surprise but only for a moment because he began kissing her back ferociously. His hands cupped on her cheeks.
There was a cheer in the common room and a few wolf whistles from those who were actually paying attention to the pair.
Ginny saw Lavender Brown in the corner burst into to tears and run out of the common room at the sight of Hermione and Ron kissing.
She felt bad for the girl.
She knew what it was like to have an unrequited crush and watch that crush like someone else.
Speaking of!
Where was Harry?
Her eyes scanned the common room, and the raven-haired boy was nowhere in sight. She suddenly wondered if he was off kissing anyone passionately like both her brother and ex-boyfriend were currently doing.
Her chest tightened at the thought, and she decided that she didn't want to see what he was up to.
She took one last look at the common room. The party was still in full swing, even with a majority of its numbers asleep in their dorms.
Ron and Hermione were still going at it like too rabid dogs, devouring each other's faces. Neville was still impressing some girls with his stories and several others were all having a blast. Seamus Finnegan was for some unknown reason hanging from the ceiling whilst Dennis Creevey was dancing up a storm in his own litttle bubble.
Ginny chuckled and nodded her in approval and then headed up the spiral stairs.
At the top of it and out of sight to the common room was one Harry Potter, sitting on the top step, an open, near full butterbeer in his hand and a questioning look on his face.
"Harry!" Yelped Ginny in surprise.
She was thankful that she could actually talk to the boy like a normal person otherwise her entire face would've gone scarlet red.
"Ginny." He replied with a small smile.
"Why you not celebrating at our victory party Potter?" Asked Ginny quickly to avoid thinking about those dreams of hers.
Harry just stared at her for moment.
"It was... heating up down there." He answered.
"Indeed." Replied Ginny with a slightly nervous chuckle.
"And why aren't you celebrating our victory party Weasley?" He asked suddenly.
'Because the thought of thinking you was kissing someone was enough to make me want curl up in my bed and cry, not to mention, watching Ron kiss is gross even if I am happy for him and Mione.'
She thought to herself.
"My brother's eating Hermione's face off and it's embarrassing to the Weasley name if you ask me." Answered Ginny smoothly.
Harry smirked at that.
"Yeah, I noticed that. Couldn't quite believe my eyes. Quite out of character for Hermione in my personal opinion." Said Harry staring at Ginny.
His emerald eyes made her heart skip a beat.
"Yeah, funny that but good for her. It's about time one of them finally made a move." Said Ginny as she began to move past Harry on the steps.
His staring was making her lose her senses almost and she had learnt to get past all that schoolgirl harboured feelings that made her a near mute and a human tomato. She would not be reduced back to that because of Harry's dazzling green eyes.
"Yeah, I suppose you're right about that but still I wouldn't have believed she could do it... well not without some... motivation." Said Harry, his tone suddenly slick. Ginny who had moved toward the balcony to head for the dorms had turned back to see Harry standing and looking at her with an arched brow.
"Motivation?" Asked Ginny slowly?
He couldn't possibly know, could he?
He took a step closer now standing directly in front of her. If anyone walked up the stairs, they would look like they were in a very compromising position.
"Hermione couldn't even ask Ron to Slughorn's party without it deriving from an argument, where she didn't even actually ask him Ginny, more or less her being as bold as to make out with Ron like her life depended on it. Also, I couldn't help but notice how a bunch of our housemates suddenly shifted. Some becoming livelier and others sleepier. Romilda Vane was accosting me when her and a bunch of other fourth years around me all started yawning at the exact same time. I looked around the common room and saw others yawning too but only fourth years and below who were the ones to having punch, not butterbeers. I also saw that no one else seemed to be affected by the sudden departure of half our house except you. Thoughts?" Said Harry smugly.
She just looked at him. She could deny it but what was the point? He was already onto her.
"Oh alright. I was only trying to help Hermione. During the summer she let it slip that she wanted to be a bit more carefree but hasn't kept to that desire since being at Hogwarts so I thought I'd give her a boost but I had to cover my tracks you know and I knew we'd win the match, I could just feel it so I thought the party would be a perfect cover." Said Ginny folding her arms hoping Harry couldn't hear her pounding heart.
He smirked at being right.
"What did you do?" He asked with a tone of amusement.
"Laced the punch and butterbeers. Punch with sleeping draughts and the butterbeers with an inhibition potion. Not enough for anything crazy but just enough to let loose and for Hermione to give into her desires." Said Ginny before arching her own brow, Harry. She then said "There you go. I've told you my dirty secret. Are you gonna tell on me?"
Harry looked thoughtful for moment and then took the butterbeer in his hand and took a small sip before turning back to Ginny.
"Only if you don't tell on me." Replied Harry.
Ginny's brow furrowed.
"What do you m..."
Her question was cut off when Harry smashed his lips onto hers. Ginny was taken by so much surprise that her mouth opened, and Harry slid his tongue into hers.
A moan erupted in her throat.
As the thought hit her.
Harry Potter was kissing her.
His lips were soft, and his tongue tasted of butterbeer and caramel which danced against her togue passionately. Her hands found his messy locks which caused him to moan into her mouth causing her entire body to vibrate in pure ecstasy.
None of her kisses with Dean, Michael or even Hermione was this heavenly although she would place Hermione in second place for the delicious taboo of it, but Harry was everything and more, she had dreamed about.
She felt butterflies in her stomach and felt heart do summersaults in her chest and thankfully he was not eating her face like Ron.
After a moment they both parted for air. His face was flushed, hair even messier and his eyes were glistening even brighter with pure passion.
Ginny just stared at him stunned.
She had dreamt about this moment. Prayed for this moment and now that it happened, she couldn't think of a word to say but she needed to. Declare her love for him, ask him if he truly liked her, ask him to be her boyfriend.
"Wow." She said after a moment.
That was it? Wow!
Harry Potter had just snogged her and all she could produce was a wow?
"Wow indeed." Said Harry in a husky voice.
"Not that I'm complaining Harry but what in the world possessed you to do that?" Asked Ginny practically flabbergasted.
"You said the butterbeers are laced with inhibition potion. I've been wanting to do that for a while now." Answered Harry.
Ginny gaped.
Harry had wanted to kiss her for a while? She gasped.
Of course he did. The potion couldn't force the idea in his head it would allow him to lower his inhibition and give into his desires to do whatever and kissing her had been one of them.
Ginny was sure she had turned red from head to toe now.
"Oh, since when?" She asked unable to avoid the shyness that crept into her voice.
"Far too late if I'm honest, but to answer your question probably sometime after Christmas last year, but I didn't understand then what with me and Cho and then everything with Sirius, it just didn't click until the summer when I got to the burrow, and I couldn't help but keep staring at you. I kept telling myself you're Ron's sister but then every time you mentioned missing dating there was this ripple in my chest and suddenly, I wanted to be the one you dated." He said his voice becoming gentle and filled with emotion.
Harry stared deeply into her eyes, and she knew it was the truth.
Suddenly a small smirk curved on his lips, and he added "Not to mention this surge of jealousy I suddenly felt when Hermione let it slip that she kissed you in the summer."
Ginny eyes widened and he snorted with laughter.
She stuttered over her words, unable to get them out.
"She only told me that today after her first butterbeer but the feeling that something had happened had been bugging her a lot, so she managed to get her hands on a seventh years pensieve and rewatched the memory back in September. She then made me swear to never tell her precious 'Won Won'. She also told me some other stuff she said to you that night. Under the influence Hermione is a bit of a blabbermouth." he said with a lopsided grin.
Ginny's lips curved into a wide smile before she launched herself at Harry and kissed him again. The kiss was slower and deeper but every bit as amazing as the first one.
She couldn't believe it. Harry had feelings for her. The idiot had taken his bloody time about catching them, but he finally had them for her.
They parted again and both of them gave each other goofy smiles.
"I could get used that." Replied Harry dreamily.
"You should." Replied Ginny with a smirk.
"There's still the matter of your brothers, one of them being my best mate and all." Said Harry anxiously looking down the spiral stairs.
No one would see them from that angle but if anyone did walk up the stairs, there flushed faces and messy hair would've been a dead giveaway on what they had been up to.
"Oh, please like my idiot brother wasn't hinting for us to date last year on the train but if he does have something to say, he better pray his nostrils can take the constant hexeses." Said Ginny firmly
Harry burst out laughing.
He was very worried about Ron's reaction and would have to get it out the way sooner rather than later but right now all he could think about was kissing Ginny's soft, delicious and warm lips again and truthfully now that he had done it, it wasn't something he was prepared to give up either.
He had lost out on far too much time on kissing Ginny Weasley and with or without Ron's approval he was going to rectify that mistake.
Who would've thought that Hermione Granger being a drunk blabbermouth would be the best thing to ever happen to him.
