Two-Bit, Johnny, and Pony were walking down the street heading back home. They had all just tried to walk a couple of soc girls back home, but their boyfriends came to pick them up. The girls' names were Cherry and Marcia. It isn't often some greasy hoods get the chance to talk with soc girls like Cherry and Marcia.

When their boyfriends came, Two-Bit stood his ground. He busted a bottle, handed it to Ponyboy, and flicked out his switchblade. It may have been a little over the top, but he could tell these girls weren't all for their boyfriends. They took them out when they were drunk, after promising booze was out of the question.

Earlier that night, Two-Bit ran in, scaring all four of them, but once he caught a glimpse of Marcia, he couldn't keep his eyes off her. Two-Bit was known for being with tons of blondes, but she wasn't blonde. More brunette, but she was beautiful. She had blue eyes as blue as the ocean. Her lips are as pink as bleeding heart flowers. She laughed at all of his jokes. Like, genuinely laughed. He knew she was different from the other broads.

That walk home, Two-Bit ripped up the number and threw it to the ground.

"What was that?" Johnny asked.

"Marcia's number," Two-Bit said, sighing. "Must've been a phony one anyways. A girl like her would never go out with a guy like me."

Nobody spoke about that after.

Two-Bit never knew how long Marcia sat by her telephone, reading magazines, just waiting for his call. He never knew that she waited so long, she fell asleep on the couch with something in her gut saying that he'd call.
