Chapter 45: Let the Games Begin!
In the Stadium beside the WNA Resort, around 10,000 people are gathered for a cool, summer sports event. A reunion was heart-warming for those that came from the academy in Eagle City they all mingled while waiting.
At a sky box, those from the HQ are there having a good view. Berecca and Jane are looking after their newborns, Burton, Ron, Leonard, Max, Roger and several others waited when another person joins in. "Sam Sucode. Good to see you again after some time." Ron greeted him first.
"I was suppose to serve a long sentence until just yesterday, I was released on parole for good behaviour. Today, you contacted me for some fun event." The 2 partners shook hands and with that, Sam Sucode is officially reinstated back to the WNA as he sat with the others.
Around 9am in the center of the stadium, it opened up and a stage arose from below. All eyes are onto it as a smokebomb took effect and Genryusai appeared before the crowd.
"Good morning fellow students and ninjas from all over the world. I am Genryusai, head of the WNA. Today is a grand day, for the first time, the WNA is hosting the first, Ninjala Summer Sports Olympics!"
All cheered as he spoke on. "In 1945, the WNA was formed and established to preserve the culture and traditions of the way of the Shinobi. It also serves as a branch for world peace and order under the approval of the UN. With it, WNA Academies are formed in the 1990s and in the year 2010, Advanced WNA High Schools are established in 16 countries. These foundations serve to recruit and train those of the shinobi descent to hone their skills and serve as guardians and protectors of this world." (In my own perspective since it's a story)
All cheered some more and the moment they've been waiting for. "This year is the 80th anniversary of the WNA. And the summer sports Olympics is one of the events to be held yearly starting with this year as a start to commemorate 80 years of shinobi and kunoichi hard work and effort! With that, let the games begin!"
A smokebomb took effect in which Genryusai disappeared and from a large screen, Bruce and Spruce appeared in it and they're also in the audio room commentating the event. Plus, it's live on TV but only ninjas can watch it on a private channel.
Even in the high schools, many are watching it as in one classroom, some of the students of Classes 1-A and 1-B are hanging around watching the stuff in class.
"Our school is so gonna give it it's best!" Harry told them.
"Ha! Ha! Plenty of sports and showdowns! These are the thing we can't miss!" Orion exclaimed.
"Some of our peers are participating. Do your best out there!" Midori cheered.
"Agreed." Masai spoke up.
Back to the stadium, "Alright boys and girls! It's time to get your game on! First, we have 5 sporting events to take place! Ninja Basketball will be first followed by Ninja Dodgeball, Swimming, Ninja Track-and-Field and Archery for the morning portion!" Bruce announced. "Those sports events with the word, 'Ninja' on it means that in the matches, you are all allowed to use your awakened powers to turn the tides in battle just like when you're at the beach seeing the high tide become a low tide!" That part confused everyone as it goes on.
"After that, we have a 1 hour lunch break followed by the Close Combat Showdown and the Swordplay Showdown!" Coach Spruce announced.
"There will be rules explained and attractive rewards to win for your respective schools!" Bruce added and the brothers are ready for this. "Are you all ready? GO NINJALA!"
Everyone roared in excitement as Bruce and Coach Spruce head bashed each other and laughed. At the sky box, the WNA members including Genryusai who just joined in smiled for this event will really promote sportmanship and friendship among all the students from the 16 ninja high schools.
Event 1: Ninja Basketball
"Okay...Keith! Let's make a move already!" Van called out to him as he removed his letterman jacket revealing his basketball jersey.
"No problem bro! You've been my coach ever since I sought you." said Keith as he vanished out of sight and reappeared again in his basketball attire with ninja style. "He still remembers the attire swapping ninja technique..." Tyler thought.
"Wait...I know Van plays a lot of basketball but you, Keith?" Kappei asked.
"Let's just say...I could use something active. So I talked with Van and he agreed to whip me in shape. Thanks to him, I am now a team player!" Keith explained to him.
"You got this guys!" May cheered for them.
"Show them your dribbles and slamdunks!" Dan cheered for them with Tyler giving them the thumbs-up.
"All the best out there." Naomi cheered also as Keith gave her a smile and she felt a bit shy and flustered by him. Emma took notice of this when Van noticed something. "Wait...has anyone seen Lucy?"
"Right here Van!" All looked and gasped at the sight of Lucy wearing a cheerleader outfit. It consists of a sleeveless pink crop top with a red trim, a pink skirt with a red trim, white socks and blue sports shoes. Oh yes, she replaced her spike hair rings with blue scrunchies and is holding onto 2 white pom-poms.
"Oh man...she's too gorgeous..." Van is so flustered at her outfit as she jumped up and down doing her special cheer. Even so, he can see her 'milk jugs' jiggle up and down during her jumping. "Give me a V! Give me an A! Give me an N! Win this my sweet, Vanilla Vannie Boo!"
"I like that." Sandy whispered to her sisters as they nodded agreeing with him. Back to them, "Thanks for the cheer! I'm so hyped to win this with the team!" Van thanked her and he even smooched her on the lips as Kappei and Emma squealed together in excitement. As Van and Keith left for their game, "I didn't expect Lucy to be a cheerleader." Emma spoke up.
"In fact, she is a member of the cheerleading squad in our high school." Naomi revealed to her. "According to the senior and sophomore members, they see her as purely cute and beautiful enough to really have the potential to become a member."
"So you're saying she got scouted and she really joined them?" Emma asked.
"Absolutely." She replied back as they looked at the arena. There are 4 basketball courts with 2 teams on each one. Van and Keith along with their captain and 2 other players named Jiao and Shem are in one of the courts stretching. Interestingly, Naomi couldn't take her eyes off Keith as she sighed to herself. "If only I could...oh never mind."
But also, "Oh my gosh! It's Keith!"
"Eeeeek! The no.1 handsome boy from the high school in Oedo!"
"Aaaaaah! He's here! He's playing!"
"Whoa...I didn't expect a lot of girls to fawn over him." Kappei exclaimed.
"In our school, Keith is no.1 in the ikeman list. Dan is behind him." Tyler revealed to him.
"Sheesh mates, we're seeing plenty of fan clubs now." said Davis as Vega offered him some chewing gum and he took a stick.
Now at the arena, "Okay! Here are rules for Ninja Basketball! All players play by the standard basketball rules and they're allowed use their awakened powers to aid them in the game! You have 5 minutes to score high and win up to 20 points! Even if time's up and you scored high but not a the number, it's counted as a win! The team that wins will advance to the quarterfinals! And then, we have the semifinals and finally, the finals!" Bruce commentated.
"The team that wins the entire game wins a gold trophy for their school and all players in the team will earn 80000 credits!
"80000 CREDITS?!" Everyone exclaimed as, "This is some anniversary reward!" Dan exclaimed.
"If I win the big prize, I can throw parties every weekend!" said Sisler.
"We'll be stinking rich if you win it!" Sheila cheered and suddenly, the 2 of them made out on the bleachers stunning everyone.
"Is Sisler participating?" Billy asked Hades.
"Yeah. At the later portion." He replied to him as Heart opened a can of Pepsi and started chugging.
"Alright! All teams get ready!" Bruce called out as on the courts, 4 WNA ninjas smokebombed in the centre of the courts and each has a basketball on their hands.
Focusing on one of the courts, Van and Keith watched as their captain went to the centre and their opponents are from the high school in India. The other captain named Ranjit, too went to the centre as both first, shook hands and then, got ready.
And soon enough, the ball is thrown and they jumped to catch and boom! Their captain caught it as he threw the ball to Van. "Let's get the Orb Bouncer on!" Keith called out.
"Gotcha!" Van created an orange orb in the size of a basketball and threw it down as it bounced around while dribbled the ball. "Intercept him!" A player from the opposing team called out as he transformed his left hand into an Iron Claw and blocked him. Van smiled and the orb soon bounced onto him 5 times and the 5th one went, "BOOM!"
This caused 2 other players to be knocked down as Van threw the basketball to one of his teammates who then threw it to Keith as he attempted a 3-point shot. "Not on my watch!" Ranjit then morphed into an Elephant and caught the ball with it's trunk!
"That can't be good." The captain thought as the elephant hurled the ball and it went straight into the net! "Yeah! We're on a lead! Nice move Ranjit!" One of the players called out as they cheered for their captain.
"Okay, game plan. Draw the elephant out and flank him. Understand?"
"Yeah right Tsujioka!" Van agreed to their captain's plan as they got ready. When the whistle blows, all followed the plan as Jiao and Shem created and fired Explosive Orbs hitting the Elephant while Tsujioka stomped the ground and Rock Spikes shot out in front of the 2 opponents running to block him.
"Bad move." The elephant stomped his way to them but soon enough, "Here comes a slamdunk!" Van flanked at the right timing and score!
From the bleachers, all cheered and Lucy jumped for joy while cheering for her boyfriend.
Back there, "This ain't gonna block us!" The 2 opponents then used their awakened powers with one activating Saber Arm as he sliced the rock spikes in half, and the other used Chomper as he bit the rock spikes into pieces with his mouth.
"This game gets even more tense!" Keith thought as he dribbled the ball and passed it to Van who created and shot out his orb with one hand and it used it's effects.
"This is why it's called Ninja Basketball! Everyone plays the game ninja style with their powers and abilities! Woo-hoo!" Bruce and Coach Spruce cheered together and the whole audience is hyped at the gameplays.
A while later, 3 out of the 4 matches are concluded and Van and Keith are still in the game with their team and likewise, their opponents. "We just need one more shot and we'll advance to the next stage." Tsujioka told the team.
"Perfect. Let me take the shot." Keith requested. "For I'd like to soar and claim the victory for our team and our school."
"You got a plan I see...okay, make sure Keith has the ball. Got it?"
"Yes captain!"
"Let's win this!"
"OH YEAH! YEAH!" All are hyped as they got ready. One minute left and they all got ready.
The whistle blows and Van created 2 orbs and sent them bouncing. The captain of the Indian team morphed into his elephant mode to squash the victory out of them.
Tsujioka summoned more rock spikes from below as Shem threw the ball to Keith. "Perfect. Time to shine with fire and beauty!" He threw the ball up in the air and suddenly, fire engulfed him completely and, "FWOOSH!"
"Look! Something is rising from the fire!" Archie pointed out and then, it appeared!
"No way...Keith turned into a Phoenix?!" Kappei exclaimed in amazement as above the court, the fiery, mythical bird has manifested and the basketball thrown up soon reached it's height as all were amazed and the girls are screaming in excitement. The phoenix then sent it flying with it's fiery wings as down there, "Oh no...we've lost." Ranjit realized and score!
"Team Oedo wins the match! They advance to the quarterfinals!" Bruce declared as all cheered and the phoenix burnt up and Keith soon appeared touching ground as his teammates pounced onto him while cheering.
"I'm so glad to see them win. And Keith did a fantastic job out there." Naomi thought with a smile.
And through the entire game, Van and Keith dribbled with their all the way to the finals and there, they beat their opponents representing South Korea thus becoming the official winners for the Ninja Basketball Event thanks to Van doing the slamdunk at the remaining seconds left on the timer.
"Now that it's settled, the next event is Ninja Dodgeball! Oh yeah! I like the sound of people getting pelted and hurt on the face!" Bruce announced as Coach Spruce laughed and they hi-5 each other.
Event 2: Ninja Dodgeball
"Perfect! You guys will soon see our powers in action!" Hades told them as he, Gaia and Caribou left to get ready.
"Same goes for me!" Joey also left right after he fist bump Shane, Yamikage and other boys.
Now this would be a best out of 3 as the basketball court disappeared down and then, a new platform arose with 4 dodgeball courts. The first 8 teams took up positions as on one court, Hades, Gaia, Caribou and 2 other muscular boys named Titan and Ares are going up against another team representing Australia. There are 6 dodgeballs arranged in a line in the middle of the court and that also applies to the other courts.
"Just like the previous sport, awakened powers can be used in the game and yes, just hit each other until one whole teams gets booted out and the other wins! There will be matches until the finals where the last remaining 2 teams will dodge and attack with everything they got!" Coach Spruce announced.
A WNA ninja readied the flare gun and once ready, "BANG!"
"Get the balls! I'll cover you!" Hades ordered as his left palm fired a Laser Beam followed by his other palm and both of his eyes! The others ran with cover fire as their opponents saw the beams. "Crap! Dodge them all and take the dodgeballs!" One of them called out as he fired Electric Rays from his palms.
While 2 students provide cover fire, the rest got the balls, 3 each as they regroup. "What's the plan?" Ares asked Hades. "Play rough and take no prisoners!" He ordered as the game begins!
Dodgeballs are hurled to the left or right as both groups of players dodge or catch the ball without slipping. "Check this out! One shot, 3 kill!" Caribou got a dodgeball ready and it glowed green. He then threw it and, "KNG! KNG! KNG!"
"Some Ricochet you displayed!" Gaia called out.
"You literally took out 3 players out of the opposing team!" said Titan as Gaia noticed some rubble formed from Hades' laser beams. "It's Crushing Grip time!" He used his right hand and moved it up and suddenly, the rubble all went up in the air. "Bye, Bye!" Gaia then clenched his fists and all the rubble were crushed onto each other and stuck together as he lowered his arm down and the crushed rubble fell, "BAM! BAM! BAM!"
"You kidding us?!" Their remaining 2 opponents weren't prepared for this as, "Finish them!" Hades ordered as Titan and Ares used Charge Shot as they powered their dodgeballs and threw them at supersonic speed and power! "BAM! BAM!"
"Well done bros!" All 5 muscular dudes cheered for their victory and they're able to play all the way to the finals. Even though their opponents have Joey who used his shield power to shield his teammates, they lost due to hard and powerful hits from them.
"Looks like Joey's gonna have to improve his energy shield abilities." Anais stated.
And back to the brothers, "Dodgeball is officially over with the winning team representing UK. Up next is the swimming competition, those participating, suit up and get wet!" Bruce announced and laughed at his pun though everything else is dead silent about it.
Event 3: Swimming Competition
"Wish me luck everyone!" Dan stood up to make his move as May grasped onto his hands. "You got this Dandelion."
"My beloved Mayflower. I always treasure your support for me."
"Sounds like ever since he learnt how to swim, he's become more confident with the water." Van spoke to Tyler.
"You said it." He replied and they fist bump each other.
It now cuts to the area as a large swimming pool appeared with 8 lanes. There will be 100m freestyle swimming followed by the 200m freestyle swimming for both boys and girls.
"The first 4 swimmers in the 100m freestyle swimming will move up to the next round. And in that round, the remaining 8 will swim and there can only be one winner!" Coach Spruce commentated. "That also applies to the 200m one."
At the pool, Dan along with 15 other boys got ready as the first 8 including him got ready. Plus, all the boys are in black swimming trunks.
"There he is! That handsome boy named Dan!"
"Oh my gosh! His body is so hot!"
"I wanna make him mine!"
"We love you Dan!"
"Dan! Sign my T-shirt!"
"You weren't kidding when you mentioned that he's second behind Keith." Caribou told May.
Back at the pool, all are in position as a WNA ninja readied the flare gun and, "BANG!"
All dove into the pool as Dan swam as fast as he can. Girls are screaming and cheering in excitement as Dan easily finished the race first as the crowd cheered for him.
"He's used to the water now." Kappei thought as the female category began and some girl from his school was able to make it.
After the second rounds, those in the top 4 gathered for the final lap. Dan won it and a girl from a high school in Brazil won it.
Up next is the 200m swim. Interestingly, Dan is also participating in this and won the whole thing like just now! For the girl's side, one representing Egypt won it.
"Yeah! Dan is the best! He's my handsome Dandelion!" May cheered.
"Yeah I bet you're gonna blow him down there between his legs." Lucy teased and all gasped at her statement. May even turned extremely red as, "Sh-Shut up Lucy! Says the girl who dreams about the number '69' relating to herself and Van!"
"What the?" Van was stunned as Lucy and May argued a bit and laughed together while Emma and Naomi sighed and shook their heads.
Back to the commentary, "It sure is hot but swimming is cooling and refreshing! Next will be the Ninja Track and Field. We have the male and female categories for the 100m dash and relay race! Get ready to speed things up! Ha! Ha!" Bruce's pun once again confused everyone.
Event 4: Ninja Track and Field
No one in the group is participating as the arena opened up a track and field running course. "Guys. I can see Reiji and Reiki participating!" Yamikage told his classmates. "Fitting for them since they're members of the track-and-field club and with their awakened powers related to speed, it'll be a race against time and power." said Jeong.
On track, Reiji and Reiki raced on the relay race for the males only as Reiji ran ahead leaving a trail of fire behind thanks to his power. His competitors also sped up with 5 using Dashing Speed and 2 using Wind Speed.
Reiji finished his lap and passed the baton to his younger twin brother as Reiki dashed away with lightning zapping around his legs. The others soon made their move with 3 using Blazing Speed and 4 using Lightspeed.
Nevertheless, the twins won the relay race and other students won for the other categories like a male student representing Saudi Arabia won the 100m dash for the male section, a female student representing Argentina won the race for the female section and 2 female students representing Russia won the relay race for the female section.
Event 5: Archery
Same thing. No one's participating and at the arena, WNA ninjas brought in target boards and those students participating have arrived at the arena early set up their archery equipment.
At the bleachers, "Dudes, Aretha and Athena are there." Kanisuke brought up.
"Classmates of yours?" May asked.
"Yeah. The Ninja Archer Twins are the eagle eyes and the pro shooters in our class." Tobias told her.
On the arena, the girls did great on their shots in the team category. Thanks to their experience, they won the category. For the solo one, a student representing Mexico won the category.
"And there you have it! The time now is 1pm so it's lunch time! The WNA Resorts Mall is where you can dine in! Be back here at 2pm for the second portion of the Summer Sports Olympics! That is all and have fun!" Bruce announced.
Lunch Time...
At the WNA Food Court, the group split into 3. Kappei, Emma and their classmates along with Alec, Van, Lucy, Hongfa, Damien and Elena sat together on one table, the bottle collectors, Cluv, Billy, Dia, Heart and the Class 1-B students sat together on another and the muscular clique sat together.
Now this place has everything they want to eat to their hearts' content. As long as they don't overspend their school credits. Right now on one of the tables, Kappei is eating 2 double quarter pounder cheeseburgers with turkey bacon and onions with a large serving of fries and a large coke, Emma is eating spaghetti Bolognese with meatballs and cheese along with a side of crispy onion rings and a coke also. Van is eating a triple steak sandwich with cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms with a large serving of waffle fries and a large Pepsi, Lucy is eating carbonara with chicken, ham and onions and a side of coleslaw with lemonade, Alec is eating a grilled chicken club sandwich with potato wedges and orange juice, Hongfa is eating fried rice with a bowl of wonton soup and grape soda, Damien is eating pizza with chicken tenders and lime juice and Elena is eating salmon carpaccio with a bowl of cream of mushroom and orange juice.
The rest picked whatever they like and had a good meal. "I hope next year, football will be part of the Olympics." Cruz spoke first.
"You're in the Football Club I see." said Damien.
"Kicking balls, passing balls and scoring goals is what defines football." He replied to him as he ate a piece of his roast beef.
"Dude. Your friend here eats a lot like us." Van told Kappei and pointed at Davis eating 8 slices of pepperoni pizza followed by 5 hamburgers.
"Yeah. We beefed sometimes in training and other things but in a friendly way." Kappei told him.
"The mate's right. We always wanna aim to be the best and prove each other's strength." Davis told him. "We even got that chance in the Elite Stage."
"Speaking of which, how did you win the tournament? This is the first time I heard you won." Elena brought up. Kappei then told those from the other ninja schools about the Finale Stage and Ryotarou.
"Whoa dude. Now I fully understand your battle." said Van.
"Wow...you really have gone stronger." Lucy stated.
"By the way, why do you have one red eye and one blue eye?" Maeve asked as those from Kappei and Emma's class all looked at Lucy.
"Um...it's my main source of my power." She replied.
"What can you do?" Archie asked as Jeong summoned his holographic webpage and searched through the archive. "I found it! Metal Manipulation! Through her red eye, she can control metal."
"Dope! I wonder what it'll be like to have eyes like hers?" Vega asked. "Maybe I'll have one green eye and one purple eye who knows?"
"That's amusing." Lucy replied as Van placed his arm around her. "My Lovely Lucy is making new friends from other schools."
"Hey you're also doing the same." She replied and suddenly, the 2 of them started to make out in front of everyone as, "Oh no mate, can you and your chick get a private room in a hotel?" Davis asked as many laughed.
Also, Alec took out his sketchbook and in a swift move, sketched them making out. "Nice drawing." Hongfa noticed.
"Thanks. You wanna see some more." Alec showed her his many artworks as she browsed through. "This talent of yours is incredible." She exclaimed and also, "He's kinda cute...and handsome..."
"Hey Damien, you're seeing this?" Elena whispered to him.
"Ha! A lot of boys wanted to date Hongfa but they're no match for her martial arts when she challenges them to test their strength and see whether they're worth dating her." He whispered back.
Just then, Gumchi showed up and he has a platter of 50 chocolate donuts. "Dessert for us?" Kappei asked but to everyone's surprise, Gumchi chucked all the donuts one by one into his gummy mouth!
"Yummee! Yummee!" He cheered and let out a loud burp causing everyone to laugh and mingle some more. Even so at the other table, Keith and Ryotarou talked with each other, Kanisuke offering Cluv some chili crab and Billy is arm wrestling with Tobias.
Later on since there is still time, many explored the mall and did some shopping while Kappei, Emma, Gumchi, Van and Lucy went to meet up with Burton, Berecca, Ron and Jane. They're at some cafe when they arrived. "Hey guys!" Burton greeted them.
"We got you some cheesecake in case you haven't had your dessert." said Ron. Berecca and Jane on the other hand are feeding their little ones and the adults are seated on separate tables. Male and Female as Kappei and Van sat with Burton and Ron while Emma and Lucy sat with Berecca and Jane.
On the male's side, "How is everything for you guys?" Van asked.
"It's all good. I got a new house with everything I need for science and research purposes. Berecca moved in with me and we've been happy together doing research and stuff." said Burton. "We also have a lab in the WNA HQ whenever we report for work. For our job, we work on new ninja gums and weapons."
"Cool!" said Van.
"As for me, I still undergo missions and stuff and now, I'm a certified shinobi trainer to provide training to those working in the WNA as shinobis and kunoichis. I'm also in charge of security in the HQ." said Ron. "I even got a nice and expensive house near the workplace with Jane moving in to stay by my side."
"And both of you got married indeed." said Kappei and then, "Oh yeah, is Goro still around?"
By the mention of the name, the cat jumped on the table. "Goree! Goree!" Gumchi cheered as he hugged the cat on his furry body. He meowed and rubbed himself around Gumchi. "Ha! Ha! Goro sometimes misses his company." said Burton as he sipped his coffee.
Meanwhile on the female side, "Hey! Tell us how your life is!" Lucy asked as she ate a portion of the cheesecake.
"Alright. I moved in with Burton and we've worked together on our projects. Sometimes, I'll visit Ron so that I can learn how to cook." Berecca began.
"Oh yeah. I remember before, you burnt a stack of pancakes back at the academy while you're still children like us." Emma recalled.
"True. Ron was patient and caring enough to teach me. Even until now, I still drop by to learn from him." Berecca continued with a chuckle. "Eventually, our marriage came and we went to visit a few countries in Europe for 2 weeks for our honeymoon."
"Cool." said Emma.
"My turn. I still work at the WNA making use of my computer skills." said Jane. "And at one point, Ron and I got married and we spent a week at Las Vegas. We visited expensive places and even went to a casino. I won a lot of winnings."
"Ha! Ha! Ha! I bet you charmed the stud muffins easily and they fell for it!" Lucy exclaimed while laughing.
"You bet! Thanks to that, we're able to afford a lot of creature comforts in our house." said Jane as she checked on her baby boy.
"Roderick looks just like Ron..." Emma noticed. "And Beatrice looks just like you, Berecca."
"She is. Though she has her father's eyes." said Berecca as she checked on her little girl.
"Roderick on the other hand has my eyes. Say, how are you 2 doing? So far, both of you are dating those boys right?" Jane asked even gesturing to Van and Kappei as Emma and Lucy smiled with hearts in their eyes.
"Yeah...Kappei and I spent a week going out on dates..." Emma replied.
"My Vanilla Vannie Boo and I hang out sometimes." said Lucy and then, "I wonder what it'll be like to make love to him?"
"Oh my gosh Lucy! We're only 17!" Emma reminded her as Berecca and Jane chuckled at her comment. "Have you ever done anything 'naughty' to your boyfriends?" Jane asked quietly and Berecca grinned cheekily.
Emma and Lucy just turned red but never mind, they continued to bond until, "Oh look at the time, better head back to the stadium. Expect a lot of action." said Berecca.
Wasting no time, the girls polished their dessert and now, everyone is heading back to the stadium for the second portion of the Summer Sports Olympics.

The Basketball Prodigy and best friend of Kappei, Van is ready to dribble the ball ninja style!
In the past, he had a dream about his father, Max being attacked by assailants and went to check on him. There, it was crisis until he was fed the ninja gum and shinobi power boosted him though his father is sent to the hospital to recover.
Under Genryusai's recommendation, Van attended the WNA Academy and had fun balling with his Trick Ball in battle and eating a lot of good food but he tends to sleep in class and leave his homework empty. He also has beef with Kappei sometimes but they're still best friends hanging out together or sometimes, with Emma and Lucy. During his time, Max recovered and guided his boy throughout the 3 years. When it comes to losing, he gets annoyed and pissed off but soon was able to accept what it's like to lose and become better in the next round or game.
After graduating, Van played more basketball until Max handed him a letter which read that he's enrolled to the Ninja High School in Oedo. So with that, he began his high school journey there and met the Bottle Collectors and Lucy whom he's in the same class with and dating currently. And also, he's a member of the Basketball Club along with Keith who came to seek him for some physical activity and he was nice and cool enough to teach him. Awakened Power: Orb Bouncer
Van's Awakened Power enables him to create up to 2 orange energy orbs at the size of basketballs and send them bouncing to his opponents. These bouncing orbs automatically seek out and once up close to a target, they bounced right onto them 5 times and for the 5th one, it explodes dealing knockback and AOE damage.
During battle, Van can employ his basketball skills in tandem with his power by dribbling his orbs, employing a few tricky moves with his orbs and shoot them onto his opponents letting the orbs use their bouncing effects easily. He can also shoot them up high and let the orbs seek and bounce down and right onto anyone and boom, direct hit!
