At the office, Paul and Della were talking about Perry as usual.
"What do you think of him since the first day of the accident, Della?"
"He seems to be doing better, Paul. You had a good idea on telling him not to share anything about the car."
"When I was there last time, Jeremy asked about Perry and said he hadn't touched the car since it showed up at the garage."
"So he's the mechanic looking after it?"
"Yes. I still like to think the doctor did this whole thing that made us come to Hamilton in the first place."
"You think so?"
"Yes, I do," Paul replied.
"You can be right, Paul, but we still have a way to go before we figure it out. I think Perry seems to like the Johnsons because of hitting the car."
"You can be right, Della. I don't know what kind of agreement he had with the Johnsons."
Then Paul remembered something.
"Della, do you remember at court earlier that the doctor thought there could be a murderer on the road?"
"Yes, I do. What about it?"
"Maybe that person could be the one who reported Perry to the hospital. And maybe that's why Perry wanted to reopen his father's case again."
"You could be right, Paul. I forgot about that."
"I'm sure you did. And that could also be why he passed out earlier."
Then Della remembered something as well.
"Paul, maybe that could be the same person who murdered Perry's father, wouldn't you think?"
"No, I haven't, Della. That's a good guess. Not sure if Perry thought the same or whatever."
Then the phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Paul. It's me."
"Hi, Perry."
"Will you pass this over to Della that she doesn't need to stay anymore today?"
"I will. What's going on?"
"Mom is coming over. We have a lot to talk about, Paul. Thanks for what you've been doing."
"You're welcome, Perry. We're happy to help out. I guess we forgot that you needed somebody with you for a few more hours until the court date again."
"I know, but it's taking time."
End of conversation.
"Della, Perry said to pass this over to you. His mother is on the way over and you don't need to come and keep him company."
"Thanks for saying something, Paul. I appreciate it. Maybe Dr. Webber would be surprised that we left him alone for a while."
"I don't care what that doctor would think, Della. Perry should've had somebody else when he was reported to the hospital."
"Looks that way."
Note: There will be a new story when this one is finished, so stay tuned. Any guesses on who did this?
