Hello everyone! I was on my way home today and had the most out-of-this-world Chaggie AU and I had to write it! lol I hope you guys enjoy this story idea and let me know what y'all think! I don't know how far I'll continue with this or not so I'll post it as its own thing instead of an addition to my "Stories From Hell" series.
Also, this story is based on the song Author by Luz and it's the gay fuel to my fire due to my girlfriend lol Anyway!
Hope you all enjoy it!
If there was one thing I learned in my life, it was that humans are incredibly untrustworthy. I learned that quickly as a little one and I protected myself from the pain that came from that lesson ever since. I knew the effects this lifestyle had on me, but I didn't care. As long as that ruthless and relentless pain never occurred again.
My fingers grazed the "X" shaped scar that went over my left eye.
Never again.
And that's why I'm here at the Happy Redemptions Academy.
"This will be for the best, Vaggie." I didn't look at Sera as we waited patiently together in boring office chairs outside the principal's office. "Our program isn't suited to help you with these circumstances and Mr. Morningstar accepted the application with open arms when I spoke to him about everything."
"Taking the harmed out of a fucked up equation doesn't fix the solution."
"Language." Sera narrowed her eyes at me as I crossed my arms over my chest. "And you know why we can't punish Adam and Lute. There isn't-."
"There isn't enough evidence to back my claims, I know." I pulled my attention away from the older woman and looked down toward the tiles under us. "You and the rest of the board told me that enough." I grumbled to myself as I stared daggers into the floor.
"This is the best solution for all those involved, Vaggie."
"The best solution to keep me from being harmed again or for them to stay out of trouble? Because either way, on both ends, someone is going to take the other's place."
"Vaggie Motha, you stop that right now." I flinched at Sera's stern voice though I refused to look over toward her again. "I know you want justice for what happened, but that cannot be done with such a hostile environment at the group home. Coming to this academy will allow you to meet others in your shoes as well as be taught the tools needed to explore yourself and your emotions while I settle the situation back at Golden Gates." I rolled my eyes at the mention of the social sanctuary.
Golden Gates Social Sanctuary. The little heaven on earth for troubled youth.
I snarled at the slogan before bringing my attention up toward the door in front of us once more. Not once moved since Sera and I arrived.
The safe haven for damaged kids my ass. All those little 'angels' they have can eat dick and die.
Suddenly, the door swung open and a shorter man with bright blonde hair that reminded me of a small pale-skinned Russian doll stood before Sera and me. He smiled wide with his rosy cheeks on grand display as he walked out from the doorway with open arms.
"Sera! Nice to see you again, sister." He placed his hands now on his hips as I shot Mr. Morningstar and Sera a confused look. She rose from her chair in the meantime to greet the smaller man with a smile.
Sister? Are they related?
"Been a long time, brother." She then gestured an open hand toward me. "This is Vaggie Motha, the young lady we spoke about."
"Oh, yes!" He smiled at me before stretching a hand. "Lucifer Morningstar, principal and the headmaster of the academy. A pleasure to meet you, little lady!" I stared at his hand blankly for a moment which seemed to cause the smaller man's features to soften in response. "It's okay not to shake if you're not comfortable. I know how hard it can be to want physical contact after what I heard happened to you and that's okay. It's what we're here for!" He took back his hand before placing both of them behind his back to give me a small nod. "We can help you learn your boundaries while giving you a well-rounded education. I heard you're quite the musician and writer as well! Luckily for you, we have a musical program that our lovely teacher Rosie is in charge of while Mrs Carmine does Spanish and creative writing. I bet they'll love what you'll be able to show them."
"How'd you know I-?" I gave him a confused look as Sera stepped in.
"I showed Mr. Morningstar a few of your performances back at the sanctuary and the talent program's progress reports with you. His daughter is also quite the creative musician as well so I figured it would be a talking point in our first meeting." I looked back over toward Mr. Morningstar as he now put his hands in his red and white suit pockets.
"Mr. Morningstar sounds so formal for such a situation though. Please, feel free to call me Lucifer. I see every child that walks in these halls as an extension to my family and therefore my children and it always feels so wrong to have that title given by them." Sera seemed to roll her eyes discretely at the smaller man as I felt a small smile spread across my lips.
Lucifer then was already quite the character, to say the least.
"Now, shall we take this into my office, ladies? I have much I want to speak to you two about before showcasing the school to Vaggie." He smiled at me once more before gesturing behind him toward the open door. "I know my daughter who is also a student here is dying to meet you already as it is. She loves to greet the new students when afternoon classes are over to help them settle in and I would hate to leave her waiting."
"Charlie is still the light of the building then I see." I glanced over toward Sera as I stood from my chair to walk into his office room. At first glance, you could tell the principal had a kid. The array of little trinkets and sensory toys scattered around the room with old frayed crayon drawings framed and on proud display on his desk. There were even a few rubber ducks and items that were detailed with images of the bath toy. Even the pen on his desk had a little rubber duck with a top hat on the top of it.
"She's not so little anymore though! Can you believe it? She turns sixteen this year! Sixteen!" The man chuckled to himself before letting out a sigh and flopping into his ironically large office chair behind his desk. "I'm getting so old, I swear." He reached to pick up the rubber duck pen before gesturing for Sera and me to sit down across from him. "But let's get back to the priority here. I want to get to know you better before setting you on your way toward the dorms. I want to make sure I have a solid schedule set up for you that works for what you enjoy and know you need work on as well as whatever credits you didn't complete at the sanctuary."
"You take this very seriously." I moved to sit down across from the man as Sera took the seat next to me.
"Deadly serious, little lady!" He chuckled to himself as he now fidgeted with the pen that caught my eye from before. "Every student that comes in here is unique and needs specific aid in becoming the best person they can be. Not everyone learns the same, after all, and that's something I know personally from my own experiences as well as from raising my daughter." He gestured to the sensory toys on his desk before smiling up at me. "I for one have ADHD and so doesn't my daughter. I also have Autism that was undiagnosed until I reached my twenties. It takes a while to learn what helps you, especially past your developmental years, which is why I do my best to have assistance and programs in place to help kids that were just like me!" I couldn't help but smile a little at the man before looking over toward Sera.
"I like him already."
"I'll take that as an accomplishment!" He chuckled to himself once more as I brought my attention back toward him. "Now, what can I do to help you feel comfortable here? How can I help you?" He leaned back in his chair as he still fiddled with the duckie pen in his hands.
"Well, Vaggie's family came from a war-torn country which did not help with her inability to create physical or emotional connections with others. This was why she was adopted into Golden Gates by her father. She showed great potential in her creativity and academics but needed somewhere to teach her to create connections with others and allow herself to coexist with those around her." I looked at the woman blankly before crossing my arms over my chest and giving a stern response.
"Thanks for jumping straight to the trauma."
"This is good information to know though," Lucifer took over as he gave me a soft expression in return. "It helps me understand what programs would work for you and I can already tell some of the trust-building groups my daughter leads would help you out greatly! I bet you two would get along well anyway."
"I bet they will."
"Now, I want to hear from you, Vaggie." He smiled at me as he now leaned forward on his desk to give me his full attention. He did so in a way as if telling Sera to let me speak for myself. "How do you view yourself? What kind of progress do you want to make?"
"I'm a musician and I want to become the best one I can be." I shrugged. "I guess I would like to make some friends too? The last ones I had weren't really-." I hesitated for a second before taking a slow breath and continuing. "Friendly. As you might have heard."
"I completely understand." He nodded as he gestured for me to continue. "But what do you want to learn about yourself?" I took a second to think before responding.
"I guess." I stopped for a moment as I gathered my thoughts silently. "I don't know. I guess we'll figure that out as we go."
"And that's completely okay!" He smiled brightly as he twirled the pen in between his fingers. "Now, lets speak academics. I know you were and honors student at the sanctuary. Would you like to continue those types of courses here or would you like something more relaxed for now then we can switch you when you're more comfortable?"
"Normal classes make me want to shoot myself, not going to lie."
"Good to know! Advanced classes it is! Guess you like stuff that really stimulates the brain, huh?"
"Well I can't stand it when a class stays on the topic for too long. I get bored of it quietly."
"Me and you both, kiddo." Lucifer smiled wide as he grabbed a piece of paper that was folded neatly on his desk and unfolded it. "Looks like the schedule plan I made before might fit out well then. I based it on what a general kid like you would be doing for advanced classes for your age and you can let me know if you want to change anything." He scribbled something at the top of the paper before handing it over to me. "At the top is your room information but I also added in a phone number to call for an evaluation schedule with our counselor. I think by the way you're talking you may have an attention disorder like me and it might help us in aiding you in your journey."
"We already had her tested at the sanctuary, Lucifer-."
"And it doesn't hurt to have a second test. I think something was missed and I want to be sure we have all the information we can to help Vaggie here become her best self." He gave Sera a cheeky smile despite the undertone of 'I don't give a shit' being hidden behind his words. I smiled in reply as I took my schedule from the man before crossing my leg over the over in my chair and relaxing a little bit.
Yep.
I shot Sera a cheeky smile as well as she seemed pleased with the situation despite basically being told to fuck off.
I like him already.
