"I thought you said you knew the way." Casey commented.
"I did, I mean do!" Ash exclaimed.
"So we're lost." Molly pointed out.
"No, I just need to get another vantage point, I had to rush after Team Rocket when I saw their balloon." Ash reminded. "Actually, I think this is where I was. So if I go up there I can find where to go."
"Don't you remember?" Casey asked.
"I mean, I know it was in the direction the cliff pointed." Ash admitted.
"Fine, just don't take too long." Molly sighed, finding a spot to sit.
"You, aren't coming?" Ash asked.
"It doesn't take all three of us to find out a direction, just don't forget it this time." Casey complained.
"Don't forget it this time." Ash mocked before beginning his climb.
"Hey Casey, didn't you say you know how to get to Cherrygrove?" Molly asked.
"Yeah, but I could use a break from your cousin." Casey commented. "So if he wants to climb a cliff, so be it."
"So why do you even stick around? You don't like Ash, and you know the way." Molly commented.
"Maybe, but I figured you're less likely to go insane with me sticking around." Casey reminded.
"That is becoming increasingly unlikely with how the two of you argue all the time." Molly sighed.
With Ash and Pikachu
"I'll show them, I know Cherrygrove is nearby, and then Casey will admit I'm not an idiot, and then we can make our way to Violet City to take on the first gym here." Ash ranted.
"Pi?" Pikachu asked in confusion about his trainer's angry obsession with their new friend.
"This is a lot harder, climbing up this direction." Ash said, breathing heavily.
"Pika Pi!" Pikachu exclaimed trying to get his trainers attention.
"Alright, hold on, hold on, I'm getting out some water." Ash assured.
"Pi!" Pikachu said, firing off a Thunderbolt at a pair of glowing red eyes in the shadows of the cliff, a purplish Pokemon swooping out of the way of the attack.
"Whoah, okay, not a good time to rest, keep it off of us until we can get to solid ground." Ash said, rebeginning his climbing.
Back on the ground
"Do you think we should be worried about that?" Molly asked, seeing bolts of electricity firing off in various directions in the sky.
"I've seen your cousin battle, I'm pretty sure he's fine with whatever is up there, not like anything common around here and up that high could survive a bolt of Pikachu's electricity." Casey sighed.
Back in the air
"Why isn't it doing anything?!" Ash exclaimed in terror as the Pokemon absorbed a third thunderbolt. "WHAT IS WITH THIS REGION AND POKEMON NOT TAKING MY ATTACKS! THIS ISN'T RIGHT!" Ash cried as he continued climbing, finally reaching a point where he could stand on solid ground.
"Pi!" Pikachu said, hopping off of Ash's head.
"Alright, time to see who you are." Ash said, pulling out his Pokedex. "Please work."
'Gligar, the Fly Scorpion Pokemon, a Ground and Flying type. It flies straight at its target's face then clamps down on the startled victim to inject poison.'
"Inject poison, but it hasn't gone for our faces yet." Ash said in confusion as the Gligar latched on. "AGHH GET IT OFF GET IT OFF!"
Pikachu sent out a blast of electricity causing Ash to jerk around enough for the Gligar to need to break free.
"Okay, need, a, new, plan." Ash said, panting and in pain. "Squirtle come on out! Use Water Gun!"
Squirtle flipped on his sunglasses, sending out a blast of water at the Gligar, the ground type sending out a flurry of purple pins from their stinger, blocking the attack before latching onto Pikachu.
"Not again!" Ash exclaimed, grabbing onto Gligar to free Pikachu, only for him to get zapped again as the Gligar rose back into the sky laughing.
Back on the ground
"Are you sure we shouldn't be worried?" Molly asked, seeing the electricity still going off.
"Yeah, but take a look at this, I think Chikorita is starting to get the Electabuzz cheer!" Casey said excitedly.
Back on the cliff top
"Squirtle use Hydro Pump!" Ash exclaimed angrily.
The Gligar swooped out of the way again, laughing menacingly.
"You know, at first I would have just let you leave once the job was done, but now this is personal." Ash said angrily. "Charizard, burn him."
Charizard slammed onto the ground, stopping Gligar's laughing as he looked at the much larger Pokemon taking flight after him.
"Charizard use FLAMETHROWER!"
Back on the ground
"Wow, you and Chikorita are already are in perfect sync!" Molly cheered, fully focused on Casey's cheer, not noticing the increasingly dumb battle going on on top of the cliff.
"I know, I'm so happy for this." Casey said excitedly.
Back on top of the cliff
"Bulbasaur use Vine Whip!" Ash called out, pointing at Charizard who Gligar had now latched onto.
Once the vies had grabbed onto Gligar Ash picked up Bulbasaur and began pulling, with Pikachu and Squirtle trying to help.
"Come on give it your all, we have to get him off!" Ash grunted.
Charizard pulled on Gligar at the same time, finally loosening his grip before starting a Seismic Toss.
"Charizard wait we're all still!" Ash yelped as he and his Pokemon went along for a ride with Gligar on the Seismic Toss attack, all five being slammed into the ground. "Holding on." Ash groaned.
Charizard apologetically looked at his friends and allies not even noticing their extra weight during his attack.
"Okay, time to end this." Ash said, tired of having been attacked in the crossfire from his Pokemon in battle. Ash grabbed a Pokeball, throwing it at the exhausted Gligar, capturing it instantly.
Back on the ground a bit later
"Oh hey Ash, did you figure out which way to go?" Molly asked.
"That way." Ash groaned, walking straight ahead with all his Pokemon sans Gligar still out.
"What happened?" Casey asked, only for Molly to shrug in confusion.
