It was late at night in the Azalea Town Pokemon Center, when a blue light filled Ash's room, waking him and Pikachu up.
"Gah, who turned on the flood lights?" Ash said, shielding his eyes to see a familiar and yet unfamiliar being in front of him. "It's you, the being that helped me find my way to New Bark Town!" Ash exclaimed, uncovering his eyes as the light dimmed. "Wait, who are you, and what are you doing here?"
The creature turned pointing its head out the window, towards the forest.
"Do you want us to follow you again?" Ash questioned.
The creature nodded in response, before walking through the wall to the outside.
"Yeah, you'll need to give us like five minutes, we can't do that." Ash admitted, grabbing his jacket.
Like five minutes later, out back of the Pokemon Center
"Alright so where are you taking us?" Ash asked, only for the creature to start walking.
"To?" The Totodile from earlier said, having just arrived.
"Hey it's you, what are you doing here?"
"Tototototototo!" The Totodile exclaimed, doing a little dance.
"Alright, you can come along, just be quiet, people are trying to sleep." Ash whispered, before following the creature.
The creature stopped at the edge of the forest in front of Kurt's workshop.
"Okay, what are we doing here?" Ash whispered, as the creature looked inside.
Ash peered through the window, and could see the light to Kurt's kiln was still lit in the back room, meaning he was still there, but on the counter was the GS Ball.
"You brought me here for the GS Ball?" Ash questioned, the creature nodding in response before pointing at it again. "No, I know it's there, I'm the one who brought it here. Kurt is still trying to figure out how to open it."
The creature shook it's head before pointing one of it's ribbon like tendrils at the GS Ball, then at Ash and then into the forest.
"You want me to grab the GS Ball, and bring it into the forest?" Ash said in confusion.
The creature nodded, waiting for Ash to get it.
"I can't just take it, that's, that's stealing, and if I tell Kurt, what reason am I supposed to give him?!" Ash whispered in angered confusion.
"To To To To." Totodile said, waddling through the workshop towards the GS Ball.
"Totodile!" Ash hissed, causing the water type to turn around.
"Tototototototototo!" Totodile said, giving a happy dance.
"No, shhh! Get out of there!" Ash hissed, as the back curtain opened.
Ash, the creature, and Pikachu all moved away from the window as Kurt walked into the front area of his workshop.
"Is someone there?" Kurt called out, walking into the main area right past Totodile hiding behind a flower pot. "Could have sworn I heard someone." Kurt said, before going back into his work shop.
"Totodile! Get. Out. Of. There." Ash half whispered half yelled.
"Toto!" Totodile grunted, jumping onto the desk where the GS Ball.
"Nooooo." Ash groaned.
"Dile." Totodile said, picking the GS Ball up and hopping back off the desk.
"To To To To." Totodile said, waddling back out with the GS Ball, before proudly holding it up to Ash. "Dile!" Totodile said happily.
"Why did I say yes to letting you tag along." Ash sighed in defeat as he took the GS Ball from the wild water type.
"Tototototototo!" Totodile cheered, having done good in his own eyes.
The creature satisfied with them having the GS Ball continued into the forest.
"Hey wait up, I still don't know where you're taking us!" Ash said, chasing after the creature, Pikachu and Totodile right behind him.
"Good luck Ash, stay safe." Kurt said, seeing the young trainer walk into the woods.
Ash followed the creature into the woods to a familiar location from his last visit.
'Please help me, you're so close, let me go home.' The voice said again as Ash got close.
"That voice, but… wait are you in here?" Ash asked.
'Please free me, I want to go home.' The voice said.
"Is this voice you?" Ash asked, looking at the creature as it walked off.
"Wait, hold on, I still don't know who you are, or why you brought me here, should I let them out?!" Ash asked, as the creature disappeared into the mist. "Alright, show of hands, who thinks I should try and open this?"
Pikachu rose a hand as the wild Totodile rose both of his hands, jumping up and down excitedly.
"Alright, here goes nothing." Ash said, grasping the GS Ball. "Come on out!" Ash said, the GS Ball finally opening.
'Free, Free, Free!' The voice said, as a pink Pokemon flew around.
"What are you?" Ash asked, pulling out his Pokedex.
'Celebi, the Time Travel Pokemon, a Psychic and Grass Mythical Pokemon. This Pokemon wanders across time. Grass and trees flourish in the forests in which it has appeared.' The Pokedex said.
"Celebi, is that your name?" Ash asked.
'Free, free, so many fun adventures!' The Celebi said.
"Fun adventures?" Ash asked.
'Gyms, Charizard, Lapras, Snorlax, Lugia, trophy!' Celebi listed.
"Wait, you remember our adventures?!" Ash said in shock. "But you were in the GS Ball, how do you…". Ash asked in confusion.
'Trouble, need to go, danger coming!' Celebi said, the shrine glowing.
"Trouble where, I can help!" Ash said, grabbing his Pokeballs.
'Back, must go back!' Celebi said, the shrine glowing even more. 'They are coming for the shrine!'
"Back, back where, what other shrine are they at? Shamouti?" Ash asked.
'No, back back, here.' Celebi said, spinning around.
"I'm still coming, I promised I'd help you, and I'm keeping that promise." Ash said.
'Back, back, back, here we go!" Celebi said, spinning around Ash, Pikachu and Totodile, sending all four of them back in time.
