Chapter Two : Guns, Guns and more Guns
After receiving the reward for finding King Charlemagne, Dina gave the money to the Mayor. He plans to use some of it to improve the defenses against the Grimm, and with Dina's help, use the rest to build a school for Kuroyuri. The Mayor explained that upgrading the defense will take approximately two months, while building the school will take three months. However, since the defense upgrade is a priority, the Mayor is focusing the resources on that first. This means that it will take at least five more months before the school can be opened.
While the the town defense is getting upgraded Eren, Cinder and the rest of their friends continued to train nearby the farm today is special because unlike four weeks ago Eren only train them in Hand to hand combat and other melee weapons today Eren decided it times for there next phase of training : Guns
It took a lot of convincing since both Carla and Dina are highly against the idea of giving the children firearms, but Eren manages to persuade them by assuring them that he knows what he is doing since he has years of experience.
Although Eren wasn't as good as many other Scout members in ODM, he was still one of the best in the Survey Corp. He spent years after reclaiming the walls learning how to use Marleyan weapons which included Rifles, Sniper Rifles, pistol, revolver, shotguns, submachine guns, machine guns, rockets launcher, Rifle grenades, flamethrowers and many other weapons the Anti-Marleyan Volunteers brought when they first came to Paradis and when he infiltrated Marley he trains amongst their soldiers though the quality of the training wasn't as good as the regular soldiers since he was a conscript since Eldian are mostly use as cannon fodder for weakening their enemies so that the real Army can finished up the job though he only trained in the more specialized part since he already spent years learning how to use Marleyan weapons so it was a cake walk when he trained during the basic despite so he trained on how to be a leader despite not being in a leadership role since he was an Eldian he still study there tactics and strategies so he knows what to do when the day he attacks Liberio.
He fought during the last month of the Marley MidEast War, and he still remembers clearly how he would charge the MidEast trenches along with his fellow soldiers in the Eldian unit and how they would die to machine gun fire, mines, and artillery fire. At how he bayonets the enemy force at how he uses grenades to cause chaos amongst the enemy rank at how he killed soldiers points blank with a shotgun to the face, he doesn't remember how many people he killed since it was all chaos during the fight in trenches. If he were to guess between a hundred or hundred twenty, he still hears the scream, the rage, and the bloodlust of every single one of those battles; it still haunts him to this day.
He still remembers the time he spent in Marley. The day he left scouts during the meeting of the leaders of Earth on what to do with the subject of Ymir, it still saddened him every time he remembers it. The entire room cheered and applauded on how Paradis was the true enemy that they should hate. He knew it would happen but a part of him still clung onto this small spark of hope, begging for them that peace was possible between Paradis and the world. But in the end, he knew it couldn't be changed, and it was the only way to save Paradis. Even now, after the Rumbling, he's not naive enough to believe that he ended war. War was a part of humanity's nature, and no matter how much humanity modernized, no matter what social structure we pledge to live by, humanity will always have war. When people are overcome with hatred, they keep fighting no matter the cost, and in the end, it will be humanity's downfall.
Regardless he still was one of the best soldier Paradis ever have and the reason why Paradis won the war so he knew training Cinder, Ren, and Nora would be safe and after showing both Carla and Dina his memories they finally give in even he only show him training not the war itself since he doesn't want to traumatize them since they already had enough.
And with that here on the field with his precious little pryromancing adopted sister and Ren and Nora with me carrying a multitude of different firearms pistol, rifles, shotgun and even a assault rifle when Marcus died i went back to that cabin with Dina since she was there to get the evidence on Marcus crime and his link to King Charlemagne and we did but when we will about to get home I accidentally fell onto a hidden floor and found an abandoned armory with enough weapons to give fill a full squad of soldiers it also took me a lot of convincing so that I can keep it so that I can train with it where Marcus got this amount of weapons is anyone questions but hey I'm not complaining.
I'm a bit excited because when i first discovered it I immediately disassemble it and found out that it doesn't use gunpowder and use a different kind of propellant, Dust so called Nature wrath an crystal like substance that can harness the power of the elements how does that work is beyond me but I call it magic because it's completely unnatural I'm no scientist and my expertise ends in general maintenance and repair.
As for the weapons on Remnant is very different compared to Earth because the way it work is nothing short but magic in my eyes they have the ability to transform into different kinds of weapons with a push of a button some of them make sense while others are nothing more than black magic seriously where do they even go when you store it these Remnantian are breaking the laws of physics to the point that Titan made more sense
"Hey Eren"
Yes, I know it's not magic and there is some sort of engineering behind it but when I first saw it transform it simply didn't make any sense.
"Eren"
I may not be as smart as Armin, i still did well during my days at the Cadet Corp in academics, and with the knowledge that Marley has I could say that I'm pretty good
"Hey, Eren ! when are we going to start"
Eren quickly turned around to see Cinder Standing next to him "Sorry space out for a second what were you saying ?" he quickly said to her
"When are we going to start the training ?"
"Oh yeah sorry I just had to bring this here," Eren said as he took off the backpack that was carrying the weapons and put it on the fence just as Ren and Nora came to him
"So Eren what are you going to teach us now" Ren asks his friends curious about the backpack he carries.
"Oooh oh, are you going to teach us how to use a Gun ?" Nora asks enthusiastically about the fact there going to be taught how to use a gun.
"No Nora I don't think we're allowed to use firearms we re still kids after all" Ren shook his head as he told his newly adopted sibling.
"Actually she right Ren today i am going to teach you how to use firearms"
"Huh I was right " she said pointing her finger at Ren
"Wait Eren is this even allowed I mean we're still children " Ren said worried at the prospect of being taught how to use a firearm because he doesn't know how they're parents would react when he told his parents that Eren is going to teach him and Nora how to defend themselves his father was very proud and glad that his son is going to train himself so he could protect his family while his mother at first was against it have the same reason as Dina and Carla as she find it to be wrong to teach children how to fight but thanks to her husband and her son reasoning she relented and ask him to promise her to keep each other safe.
But with this, he doesn't know how his parents will react. While his father may approve, his mother may be upset.
"Don't worry about that I already told your parents about this and they said it's fine as long as you don't get injured you must remember that I am technically nineteen years old so and a war veteran so it's alright"
"If you says so" Ren said though he still felt unscrupulous.
"Yay Renny Eren going to teach us how to shoot a gun it going to be fun"
*Bonk*
"Ow what the heck Eren" Nora suprise by the fact that Eren just smacked her head in the back
"First lesson guns are not toys It's a weapon meant to kill whether it's people or Grimm "as Eren walk back and forth in front of them " and I want you all to treat it as a tool, no better or no worse than any other. tool: an axe, a shovel or anything" when he finished he picked up two handgun from the backpack a revolver and a pistol
"Now today I am going to teach you the basic of firearms and what to do when you hold one I want yo-" before he could finish he saw Nora raising her hand up
"Yes Nora?" He asked
"Why do we need to train don't you simply point and shoot" Nora confused due to her young age still not understanding why you need to learn
Thankfully Cinder decided to tell her " because it's not that simple Nora there a method to it isn't that right Eren?"
"Smart girl like she said Nora there a method to it you don't just point and shoot because if you do that it the easiest way to get shot now before I teach you to use one yourself I need to teach you about gun safety and I want you all to pay attention because it can be the difference between life and death and if you can take note if possible" as Eren stop walking he stood up in front of them holding his left hand up with one finger he saw Cinder take out a notebook and a pencil as she prepared to write down everything he has to says
"Rule number one Treat all guns as if they are loaded. Always assume that you're weapons is loaded even if you think it is unloaded. Every time a gun is handled for any reason, check to see that it is unloaded do you understand" they all nod
Rule number two Keep your gun pointed in the safest possible direction. Always be aware of where your gun is pointing. A "safe direction" is one where an accidental discharge of the gun will not cause injury or damage. Only point a gun at the target you want to shoot. Never point a gun toward yourself or another person.
"Rule number three Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. Always keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot. Even though it may be comfortable to rest your finger on the trigger, it also is unsafe. If you are moving around with your finger on the trigger and stumble or fall, you could inadvertently pull the trigger" as he showed t which part they should put their finger on
"Rule number four Know your target, its surroundings and beyond. Check that the areas in front of and behind your target are safe before shooting. Be aware that if the bullet misses or completely passes through the target, it could strike a person or object. Identify the target and make sure it is what you intend to shoot. If you are in doubt, DON'T SHOOT! Never fire at a target that is only a movement, color, sound or unidentifiable shape. If you are in the middle of a place with a bunch of crowds be aware of all the people around you before you shoot"
"Rule number five Know how to properly operate your gun. It is important to become thoroughly familiar with your weapon . You should know its mechanical characteristics including how to properly load, unload and clear a malfunction from your gun. Obviously, not all guns are mechanically the same. Never assume that what applies to one make or model is exactly applicable to another. You should study the operation of your gun to understand how it works" as he hold an open palm
"And lastly rule number six Store your weapon safely and securely to prevent unauthorized use. Guns and ammunition should be stored separately. When your gun is not in your hands, you must still think of safety. Use a firearms safety device on the gun, such as a trigger lock or cable lock, so it cannot be fired. Store it unloaded in a locked container, such as a lock box or a gun safe. Store your gun in a different location than the ammunition. For maximum safety you should use both a locking device and a storage container"
"And that is all you need to know about gun safety if your still confused I already made a note about the rule and I will handle it to you so any questions"
"Wait you made me take notes when your going to give us one anyway?" Cinder said exasperated with the fact she had to make notes of it all on her notebook only to find out she didn't need to
"Yes Cinder because I want to see if you're all paying attention It good for discipline" he said as he look at her grumbled he then add "I buy you strawberry milkshake after this" she then smiled
Honestly it's so fun to tease her sometimes especially with her making that adorable face
"Now before I teach you the guns themselves I will show you what the most important part of firearms bullets, a bullet is a metal projectile that firing from a rifle, revolver , or other small firearm, typically cylindrical and pointed, and sometimes containing an explosive" As he showed them a single bullet
"Now back in my world we use a different kind of propellant to make the bullet propels but on Remnant it use a different kind of propellant" as he points at the colorful stripes on the bullet" that is dust now I'm still new to the whole concept of it but when it fires it more or less the same now they are many type of Dust bullet but due to my lack of understanding of it I only got the most basic one Fire, water, Electricity, and Wind the name is self explanatory" as he showed the the different colors of stripes on the bullet which represents what dust is use
"Next is the storage where you put the bullet" he then picked up two devices "now they are two type of storage you can put your bullet" he then hold two device for them to see
"First, a magazine, or simply called a mag, is a device used for storing and feeding ammunition in a repeating firearm. It can be an integral part of the gun or externally attached. Second, a clip is a device that stores several rounds of ammunition together as a single unit for quick insertion into the magazine or cylinder of a firearm. This speeds up the loading process by allowing multiple rounds to be loaded at once instead of one at a time. After explaining these two devices, he put them down and went back to the fence to pick up two handguns"
"Now that you understand the basic of safety and bullet now I'm going to show you the different type of firearms with the first is the one that i am holding" he showed them the handguns that he is holding" this is a revolver it contains a revolving cylinder in which bullets are loaded, usually holding six shots" he showed them the revolver while taking out the cylinder he then took out the other handgun" And this pistol, unlike the revolver it , does not contain its ammunition in a revolving cylinder and typically has a removable magazine into which bullets are loaded" he showed them while also taking out the magazine
"Now the difference between these two comes in Ammo capacity while revolver will hold only about six rounds while a pistol will hold more than that depending on the variant it can hold between fifteen or more" they look at him nodding with Ren having a particular interest in them
"Handguns are hold with a two-handed grip on the firearm and brings the weapon to eye level so that the sights may be used to aim at the target, you can use one hand to shoot but it is preferable to use two hand for increased stability but with longer experience you may be able to use it one handed " he showed them the technique and the stance of how to hold the firearm
"You can also duel wield but it is considered impractical by most people unless you are highly skilled at it but besides that it allows you to target two enemies at once, have a higher rate of fire, hold twice as much ammo without having to reload and have a backup pistol if one jams in the middle of combat but it's preferable to use just one until you have the skill to properly use two" remembering the few time he had to duel wield with the new ODM gear back on Paradis although he never actually use it he did train with the integrated pistol that the new gear had its actually quite a shame he never use the upgraded gear because he was getting tired of using the old one.
"Now next up" Eren put down the handguns and went to the fence to get two different rifle "this is a rifle A rifle is a long-barreled firearm designed for accurate shooting and higher stopping power now there are many different types of rifles but with the primary being single shot, semiautomatic and automatic"
"First is a single shot rifle holds a single round of ammunition, and it holds it right in its chamber. The shooter must manually reload a single shot rifle after firing every single shot. Its simplistic design means that a single-shot rifle does not need a very large receiver. It also has very few moving parts that could fail. Common types of single shot rifles are the bolt-action and lever-action in which I will demonstrate after this"
"Second automatic rifle often called a machine gun, an automatic rifle is capable of firing for as long as its trigger is pulled and as long as it has ammo to fire"
"And last a semi-automatic rifle may be identical to an automatic rifle save for one exception: it will fire exactly one round for every trigger pull"
Now i would love to teach you about the many other types of rifle but due to the fact that we don't have the money to get the more modern version I will only teach you with the one I have " he held one of the rifle
"This one is a bolt action rifle This type of rifle has a manual action. By pulling its bolt backward, you eject the spent case. By returning the bolt forward, you chamber a new round. A bolt-action rifle may feed rounds from a magazine or require the shooter to insert each new round into the chamber by hand" as he demonstrates how it functions and how to load a bullet in it he then took another rifle
"This is a a lever-action rifle's name is self-explanatory: In order to eject the spent round and chamber the next one, the shooter pulls down and pushes up on a ringed lever positioned next to the trigger. A lever-action rifle stores its cartridges in a tubular magazine that runs parallel to the barrel, and typically requires ammunition loaded with flat nose bullets" he levers the gun with him catching the bullet.
"They both have a very slow rate of fire compared to more modern rifle designs. But it is highly reliable, and its action's solid and minimalistic design promotes better accuracy than an automatic or a semi-automatic can typically achieve and they both have Rifling which is a term for helicals grooves machined into the internal surface of a firearms barrel for imparting a spin to a projectile to improve its aerodynamics stability and accuracy. It is also the term (as a verb) for creating such grooves" he told them he put those two down and then pick up a shotgun
"This is a shotgun it is a long-barreled firearm designed to shoot a straight-walled cartridge known as a shotshell unlike normal bullet they discharges numerous small spherical projectiles called shot, or a single solid projectile called a slug. Shotguns are most commonly used as smoothbore firearms, meaning that their gun barrels have no rifling on the inner wall, but rifled barrels for shooting sabot slugs are also available." He showed them the shells
"Now they're are three types of shotgun the one I'm holding is a pump action which work by pulling a forearm that slides up and down the magazine tube to eject the fired shell and load a fresh one there two more but unfortunately I do not have those so I just simply tell you what the other two are"
"There a break-action shotgun opens at the breech, usually by means of a thumb-activated lever on top of the gun. The barrel or barrels pivot on a hinge pin or on trunnions, swinging opening at an angle so you can drop a shell into the chamber(s) then close it to shoot. Break-action guns are typically two-barreled over/under or side-by-side guns, but there are many break-action single shots. Some break actions with three or even four barrels have been built, including gun that combines shotgun and rifle barrels.
"And the other one is a Semi-auto shotguns which fire with each pull of the trigger. The gun accomplishes all the functions of ejecting spent shells and feeding new ones from the magazine either by means of the gun's recoil or by harnessing expanding gases bled from the barrel to drive the action. An action spring, found in the stock of most semiautos, pushes the bolt back into battery, picking up a fresh shell lifted from the magazine by the carrier on its way forward" he finishes explaining the different type of shotgun with that he went back to the fence and pick up the final weapon he had
"Now the final one that is an assault rifle" he hold the weapon in front of the to see", assault rifles are short, compact, selective-fire weapons that fire a cartridge intermediate in power between submachine gun and rifle cartridges and a rapid fire, magazine-fed automatic rifle"
Honestly when he first learned of this type of rifle in this new world he was highly impressed because on Earth they don't have anything similar but maybe in a few years they would made it besides that this is a complete game Changer if this does exist on Earth he knew warfare was changing with the advancement of technology the Titan were becoming obsolete despite the fact Marley being the most powerful they lack behind in technology compared to the other nations on Earth when he was infiltrated Marley and pose as a soldier bolt action were the mainstream of warfare and the standard rifle of every Army but with this it changed everything He knew he could close the distance before someone racked their bolt action rifle, but with automatic firing guns on every standard soldier he stood no chance.
"Now that is all that I have told you about firearms now there many things I haven't told you yet but due to our limited budget this will have to do so now I am going to train you with these weapons are you ready"
"Yes finally some action!" Nora beamed in delight tired of listening to the long explanation
"About time" Ren said even he was starting to get impatient
"Ok so how are we going train Eren" Cinder ask her Friend as she looks at him

On the field there was chaos with Eren shooting the field with an assault rifle he also have a few Beowolves under his control throwing rock at them while Cinder,Ren and Nora will taking cover at the field while firing back with pistol, rifles and shotgun with Nora killing four beowolf with her shotgun that was closest to her
"Your mission is to kill me my mission is to kill you first your objective is to cross this field and eliminate all opposition i created twelve Grimm on the far side of the field under my control they will throw rock at you while I will be there firing an assault rifle on you now for safety you will all use your Aura one hit and your out and then go back to the beginning" while Eren pointed at the field
"Those bullet do they hurt ?" Nora raised her hand
On the field Nora aim her shotgun at a nearby Beowolve she press the trigger and them prepared to kill it
*BANG*
"Owww !" she yelped in surprise as she got shot in the face by Eren as her Aura flares up
"Dead now go back to the starting line" Eren shouted using a megaphone he had next to him he continued firing at the rest while she hold her head still realing from the Pain
"In order to engage your target you must see your target but your target must not see you
when you're on a battlefield you must hide you will become a tree a rock you are mud, sand and dust you must become one with nature so you can blend in with nature and the enemy will not be able to see you" he explains to them that in order to defeat the enemy they must not be seen.
Ren hide underneath the mud that is the field hiding him from enemy fire he aims his pistol at two Beowolves that are near him
*BANG*

Ren then proceeded to shoot more Beowolves that are further than him but he missed them
"In order to fire accurately you must be able to judge distance and winds direction" Eren to the group telling them how to properly use firearms he then pointed his finger on a specific direction " now how far are those tree how many yards
"Umm 500 ?" Nora said
"No"
"600" Ren said
"Nope"
"300" Cinder said raise her hand
"Yup 300 how did you figure that out ?"
"Umm 10 baseball fields"
"10 baseball fields that right you take what you know and then you multiply don't use something small to make measure it's both time consuming and impractical cause remember in a battle field you need to be on the move on all time staying still will only waste time and will cause the enemy to get a shot at you, got it" they all nodded
The Beowolves throw rock at Ren as ren duck for cover while firing randomly he managed to shot one down but the other managed to flank him and hit him as his Aura flared up
"Dead go to Nora" Eren shouted at him from his position while Ren went back to the fence head down with Nora watching cheering for the last person still on the field
"Go Cinder avenge us!" Nora shouted to her friend who was taking cover behind some boulders she managed to shot two Beowolves who were taking cover with her rifle
She then saw the last three beowolves hiding behind cover and she aim her rifle as she prepared to fire she take a breath and pulls the trigger
"Now wind you use what you have use a flag use a plume of smoke or a little bit of dust these are methods you can use but in the end you have to trust your instincts"
*BANG*
*BANG*
*BANG*
She fired three bullet two find there mark but one manage to dodge and went to cover behind some trees the Beowolves return fire by throwing rock at her she duck and fire back it hit she then run up to that tree while dodging Eren bullet from his Assault rifle she made it and fire back it missed as Eren took cover he peeked out the window ready to fire back
"Details everyone details is gonna be the difference between you killing your target and your target killing you"Eren demonstrates by aiming a Beowolve that is hiding behind a window" if you are lucky in that window will one day emerge the figures of the enemy" Eren focus on his sights with aiming at the Beowolve head emerging from the window" take the shot" the rifle fired
*BANG*
"Oww" Eren recoiled as he got shot in the face his Aura flaring up Cinder saw this and smiles in victory

"Yay go Cinder!" Nora cheers
"Great job Cinder" Ren also said happy that they won
Cinder went out of her cover and went to Eren who was sitting he saw her and stood up looking at her smiling they started to walk back to the fence and rejoin there friend
"I'm impressed Cinder you won on your first day of training too"
"Thanks it's not that hard to be honest" brush of the compliment
"No Cinder you did great with that skills you are a prodigy and I'm proud of you" she said to her
"Really ?" Now blushing at the compliment he gave her
"Yes really you reminded me when I was your age when I first joined the Army and I can tell that you will become a great warrior" which was true she truly did reminded him of himself both a prodigy and a good fighter now that he think about it he's actually the best soldier on Paradis and he should have been ranked number one if it wasn't for the fact that Mikasa was an Ackerman and the Warrior trio have had training before they came to Paradis in all technicality he actually number one
"Huh I'm actually supposed to ranked one in the Cadet corps" Eren thought to himself suprise that he just realized this
"Thanks Eren" he quickly looked at her forgetting she was there he quickly replied "your welcome"
They got back to the fence with Nora running up to Cinder with Ren following
"That was awesome! You were amazing Cinder" Nora smiling at her friend
"You did great I couldn't have done the same way you did" Ren said
"Oh thanks guys I'm sure you could be as good you just have to keep training" she said to them to cheer them up
"She right this is only the beginning from now on you three will continue training" he stand before them looking at them one by one" now I want you all to take go home and we will continue this tomorrow
"Ok" yes "definitely" they all said tired after the exhausting training
"Ok than by Cinder" Nora hugged Cinder before she left
"See you guys tomorrow" Ren followed her
"That was fun did you have fun Ren " Nora asked as they walked back to their house
"Yes despite the pain it was quite thrilling"
"I know right maybe we should ask Eren if we can have our own weapon oooh maybe I can have a hammer or a grenade launcher ooh maybe a Hammer grenade launcher" she told him excitedly
"Your right maybe we should have our own weapons" chuckling at her antic really a Hammer grenade launcher ? She really have an imagination.
"What about you Ren what about your weapon"
"I don't know maybe those pistol" he said unsure what it should be he already tested all the weapons but the handguns seem to be the most natural
"Really just pistol come on Ren you could come with something better than that" she exclaimed at the boring weapon of choice he picked
"Let just talked this back at home Nora"
As they vanished from view both Eren and Cinder were smiling at their antics glad they had fun with the training Eren put everything back to his backpack and they than walked back to the town before with Eren holding her hand before remembering something " Cinder " she looked him still have one of her hand with him he took something from his pocket with his other hand and took out a few lien "let go buy milkshake" he smiled at him
Cinder smiled as well "yes lets go"'

Ok this took me three days to make it and boy was this long i had to do a lot of research and a few copies and paste with a few modifications because i have no idea how to explain gun safety and the different types of weapons in a simplified way so sorry about that
Honestly this feels less of a story and more of a explanation of Gun safety and firearm yes this is Eren training them obviously but it still feels like something you read out of wikipidea
when I made this chapter I wanted to continue Eren and Cinder training with there friends since in Chapter 11 of A New Path we didn't really see the full extent of there training so i wanted to explore more of this there will be multiple chapters of this and this is only part one of many chapters with the appropriate name "Training"
Anyway there are three things i want to point out in this chapter
Yes i did copy a lot of things since i don't know how to explain gunsafty and firearms in the simplest term
The last part where Eren trained them in combat was inspired by the movie Jarhead
You read the part where Eren is ranked number one in the Cadet corps h technically is as I wrote above
I hope you like the fight scene in the end and also a little foreshadowing of Ren and Nora future weapons since we never know where they got those ideas from in the first place so I hope this will somehow connect it to it
Anyway that is all I'm still new to this whole writing thing and now I can understand the stress of many wrtiter themselves i hope you the dialogue between the characters aren't bad
