Not a Chapter, just a lengthy author's note explaining some things about the story and a few warnings about it.
I've read a lot of Avengers/Harry Potter crossovers. I know it's common to come across a fic where Loki is one of Harry's parents, and I decided it might be fun to write one myself, but hopefully, this one is different; I think I have done a decent job of making it original. For example, I paired Loki with someone I've never seen him shipped with before, and second I've made Harry's father someone I've never come across a fanfic story with as his father. I haven't mentioned who because I'm trying to let it be a little surprise, though some might have guessed after reading this.
First, the warnings, this is a story about a genderfluid character that shifts between male and female in a relationship with a male character that is straight in canon as far as I know, but for my story, he is bisexual; I don't think it's considered a mpeg story since Loki is genderfluid and female when Harry was conceived; then all during pregnancy and birth. Also, I don't think it's regarded as a slash, either. Not according to the definition of slash I found online. I've never written a story like this, and I do not mean to offend or disrespect anyone.
To stop any confusion, when Loki is female, she'll go by she/her, male he/him, and sometimes them/they. In the comics, Loki is mostly in male form, so he usually goes by him/he. And when Loki is female, it's changed to she/her.
This story will also have violence and fighting and may even, at times, get a little gruesome; I'll try to remember to leave warnings on top of the chapters that will have this.
In chapter 1, Loki's thoughts will tell the backstory of when he was in the wizarding world before. Who Harry's father is, and why Loki abandon them. After that chapter, Loki will mostly be female at the story's start since she's using that form to hide and not to be recognized. And the form she was mostly in when she was in the wizarding world before, but will be in his male form at times.
Albus Dumbledore will not be a bad guy; I know he's done some questionable things in the books, but it's done a lot in these kinds of fanfics, so if I want my story to be different, then I'm not going that route.
I've never been good with spelling or grammar, but I'm not as bad as I was in my first stories. I have grammar and spell check, and some mistakes still slip in, but I'll do my best to have a readable story; I don't mind if anyone points out any mistakes I might make so I can go back and fix them.
This story is set mainly in Harry Potter's universe; the Prologue has Harry fighting the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets; after that story will start in the summer before Harry's third year and go to either 5th or 6th. There are no Hollows, but they will have Horcruxes. I am cutting out the time travel plot in POA; it won't be necessary for my story. That also means Hermione won't take more classes than she can handle. There will be other things not in this story that are in canon, and things happening differently or at different times in canon. I didn't want my story to read as I had just added Loki to the Harry Potter series. Here are some explanations.
I had to change ages and dates since the story will be set in the MCU timeline and for Harry to turn 13 in 2012. I changed the birthdays of the characters a little. I kept months and days but altered years.
Lily Potter, in canon, was born on January 30, 1960; I changed her birth year to 1977, so she was 23 when she died, not 21.
James Potter's birthday is now March 27, 1977
Sirius Black's birthday was November 3, 1959, making him a bit older than James, Remus, and Lily, so his birth year has been changed to 1976.
Remus Lupin was born on March 10, 1977
I had to look up Peter Pettigrew's birthday and couldn't find an exact date, so I'll put his birthday on September 2, 1976.
The Marauder's and Lily's Hogwarts years have been changed to 1988-1995, Graduating from Hogwarts in June of 1995. They immediately joined The Order of the Phoenix right after graduation.
In canon James and Lily got married at age 18, not long after they left school; according to what I found online, I'm changing that to somewhere in the summer of 1997, mostly so I can have that Loki was at their wedding.
Loki arrived in the wizarding world in January of 1997 and began their affair with Harry's father in March of 1997; Loki leaves the wizarding world but stays on Midgard in February of 1999, Harry was born on July 31, 1999, and three days later Loki abandons him with his father and goes back to Asgard.
While on Midgard in the wizarding world, Loki was mainly in female form and used the name Reigna Ikol. Ikol comes from the comics. And it is just Loki spelled backward, and there is a reason for using the name Reigna that will be explained later.
On October 31, 2000, the downfall of Voldemort happens, Lily and James Potter are killed, and Harry is left on the Dursleys' doorstep (There is a reason he was living with them)
Sometime after Midnight on November 1, 2000, just two days before his 24th birthday, Sirius Black is framed and locked up in Azkaban without a trial. On July 10th, 2012, Sirius Black escaped prison. Sirius will be a little different in my story, hopefully not too much, but he'll have his health and mind back and act a bit more like an adult. Also, Sirius is known to be intelligent and powerful in canon; he might be a little more so in my story.
Marge visits on July 20th instead of on Harry's birthday; on July 27th, Harry runs away from the Dursleys.
Harry, too will be a little different, not too much, but considering who his parents are, he'll be a little more sneaky and a little more sarcastic and might show a little more intelligence. In the books, Harry could be a bit sassy and sometimes showed some intelligence, so it's not too far off canon for Harry.
I hope none of this confuses you; I did their age the way I did and had Loki show up when he did because I wanted the Marauders to be at least 20 when meeting Loki, I know most places in the world 18 are of age and legally considered an adult, (17 in HP's world) but still, I didn't want Loki hooking up with a teenager.
Now the Avengers/Loki side of my story.
On June 9th, 2012, The Avengers stop Loki's attack on New York City.
I do not believe Loki was Mind Controlled in Avengers; the scepter influenced him in a way it was fueling his anger and hatred, making him act more violently than he usually would, but he was still in control of his mind to fit my story; he does have an understandable reason, there has to be for Harry to want anything to do with Loki. It's just not Mind Controlled.
Loki's birthday in MCU canon is supposed to be December 17, 965 AD (he's much older in the comics). Thor says in Infinity War he is 1500, yet he and Loki are shown as children together in the first Thor movie, so his suddenly being more than 400 years older than Loki makes no sense; MCU messed up somewhere. I will fix it in my story. If Thor is 1500 in IW, that makes his birth year 518 AD. According to Google Viking area was from the 8th-11th century, so it makes sense for Thor and Loki to be born before that, at least to me, so I'm keeping 518 Thor's birthyear, and changing Loki's to 520, making Thor two years older than him.
So at the start of this story, Loki is 1492, Thor 1494; I keep hearing that Loki's age in MCU canon is supposedly the equivalent of a Midgardian teenager, but he's not in my story because it makes no sense; plus that's not how their ages work in the comics where Loki not only has children but grandchildren. Also, Loki and Thor are gods in my story, the way they are in both Norse Mythology and the comics, not aliens believed Gods. Which also explains their longevity and youthful looks. Idunn's magical apples have a small role in it also.
I'm not sure if there is supposed to be a difference in how time passes on Midgard and Asgard; in my story, time goes by; differently; it goes by a little faster on earth, which will explain how Loki was in the wizarding world for almost two years, without being made to go back to Asgard.
Loki will likely have a lot more of his powers and abilities from the comics that MCU has never shown him to have. So if you're not familiar with the comic Loki, please don't think I'm giving him abilities to make him more powerful. I will do my best not to have him overpowered, but he is supposed to be the most powerful magic user on Asgard, so there is that.
Loki will have his villain-like attitude at the beginning of the story, especially toward certain people, and his reasons for going back to the wizarding world are selfish at first. He'll change over time and become less selfish, but he will stay true to his trickster self and won't be all good—more of an anti-hero or anti-villain. Hopefully, I can do it right.
I'm keeping Harry looking like his dad, but with his mother's eyes, though he'll have other features of Loki's besides eyes; in the comic canon, Loki's eyes are green; in MCU canon, they are blue, but I'm keeping comic canon because I don't want to change Harry's eye color; I looked up different shades of green and decided to go with describing them as bottle-green, which is a beautiful eye color.
Once Loki escapes, the Avengers may not be shown for a while; there might be a chapter or two showing what they are doing, but not much else until later; since Loki escapes, stuff happening on the MCU side will be different, not sure how yet. I'll have to think about it.
I may sequel this story with things being on the MCU side. It'll take place after this one; I haven't decided yet; it depends on how much I enjoy writing this one and if it's well-liked.
I try not to bash characters, but with many in a story, there are going to be ones that don't like each other, and they'll be snarky marks between those characters and dislike shown, but I don't mean it to be bashing.
I'm uploading the Prologue and Chapter 1 together, but after that, it'll be one chapter each time I post; I've got a few written, but I have to go over them. I'm not giving a set time when I'm going to upload chapters because I don't know if they could be close together; I might have a time when I get stumped, and it will take a little longer.
Also, the first few chapters will have the dates at the top, but after that probably won't keep up doing that unless it's to show a new year.
Though there will be romance, I'm hoping to make this story more of a family/adventure, with a bit of romance.
Well, that's all I can think of now. If anything comes up later, I'll write it down in AN in a chapter; if you're reading my story, thank you for giving it a try, and I hope you enjoy it.
