Chapter 3

Remus and Sirius started in on their plans, coming to conclusion that maybe opening their own business would be the best option. Being owners they would be able to gain income but keep their secrets. Figuring out what to do came down to what they both could bring to a business. Remus had experience working with muggles, Sirius only had one muggle skill. Putting together both is how they became the proud owners of a garage. Sirius knew how to work on the cars and Remus knew how to run the business.

Now to figure out the papers for Iris. They decided that going with the truth would be hard, so they kept it as close to the truth while leaving certain Dark Lords out of it. Iris would be their niece; they had adopted her when her parents died. It was easier for them all to have the same last name. Sirius knew Remus was hesitant to be together in front of Iris but that was put to rest quickly.

Iris walked into the room they were staying in, not thinking she needed to announce herself but wishing she had now. Sirius and Remus were on the bed, luckily still dressed. If she had been another five minutes, she was sure they wouldn't be. Trying to back out of the room unseen, she tripped over the rug by the door and crashed into the doorframe. "Ouch", Iris said rubbing her shoulder. She looked up to find both men staring at her, a shocked look on their faces.

"Pup, I wasn't expecting you back so soon" Sirius said, she had gone for a walk around the B trying to clear her head.

Iris took a good look at both of her uncles, why did they look so nervous. She knew they had feelings for each other, you would have to be blind to miss it. "I came back hoping we could all grab some lunch, and I could share an idea I had." Iris replied.

The men looked at each other before looking back at Iris. Remus was the one who asked the question, "We're sorry you had to see that. We meant to keep you away from it if we could a little longer. Are you ok?"

Iris looked confused, "What do you mean? I've known about you two for a while. I mean anyone with eyes could see it".

"You're okay with us being well, being together, romantically?" asked Sirius.

Smiling at them both Iris chuckled, "If I wasn't okay with you two, why would I have planned the escape for all of us?" Both men sighed in relief. Iris laughed then; they were definitely odd men, but she loved them both.

"I love both of you just the way you are and if you two being together makes you happy then I'm ecstatic." Iris said. "Now can I please tell you the idea I had? This actually makes what I wanted a whole lot easier".

Remus hugged her as Sirius said, "Let's hear it pup".

"I had an idea of how to find somewhere to live, there are a few old properties around here that need a lot of work. The price is fairly low on them, and we could make the house exactly how we want. Even a Moony safe space." Iris explained. "I talked to the owner of this place earlier and she was telling me that this town needs new life and that a cute little family like ours would fit right in. She showed me the listings and gave me copy for you. Also, there are a couple of places off Main Street that you could open a garage."

In the two months since they had arrived, they were able to accomplish so much. It started with getting all of their paperwork sorted, each taking a driver's test for their license, to purchasing the location of their business and their home.

The family had found a four-bedroom house on three acres of land going up for auction. Luckily, having cash on hand they were able to buy it quickly. The house needed a lot of work but that would be easy with three magicals and an elf. That actually made the house more of a boon because they were able to make it exactly how they wanted.

Once they had the keys in hand they began the hard work. Since there was no Ministry, that meant there was no Statute of Secrecy or underage restrictions. Iris was ecstatic that she was able to help decorate. Dobby was the main character here, that amazing little elf transformed the dilapidated house into an amazing home. The hardest part of it all was keeping Sirius from decorating everything in red and gold. Remus was able to talk him down, now the house was decorated in neutrals with minimal green.

The new business was where Sirius was allowed to take creative control. Remus handled the office and setting everything up, but Sirius decked out his garage. Magic was a very useful tool for him as well.

Both men knew that certain objects would need help to work around magic. They didn't want to handle every problem with magic, but certain items seemed to combust just being near the magic.

Since it would be suspicious if the opened to quickly, Remus and Sirius were able to tinker with electronics they had picked up. Starting with the computer for the business, they etched runes on the insides of it and managed to get it to run. Now they were working on a laptop and cell phone for Iris. Her being a teenager in this time, having a cell phone is a must.

Iris's birthday was tomorrow. She would be seventeen. Remus and Sirius were planning a party to celebrate but Iris didn't suspect anything. This meant they had to make it one to remember. Since getting the shop they had gotten a car for Remus and a motorcycle for Sirius. They hadn't been anything to write home about, but Sirius had fixed them up like new. Now it was time to make sure Iris was taken care of and would have a way to get to and from school. Sirius had found her a 1999 convertible VW Beetle. It was a cute cream color and in excellent condition for being ten years old.

Remus had sent Iris to the store to pick up something he had forgotten for dinner. Sirius and Remus knew she wasn't expecting anything for today which made this all the more important.

Sirius pulled up in the beetle and drove into the garage. His bike is usually parked in there so she would suspect anything. Remus ushered Sirius in and they helped Dobby decorate. The cake was placed on the table and the balloons were blown up, streamers strung, and party hats put on everyone. Even a very unhappy Hedwig. Dobby snapped the lights off when they heard Iris pull up.

Iris opened the door, "Remy! They didn't have the size you wanted but..." she was cut off by the three people she loved yelling, "Happy Birthday!" The lights popped on and she was shocked. Sirius and Remus walked up to hug the shocked girl as she still hadn't moved. She was teary eyed as she looked at everything.

"Thank you" Iris whispered. Thats when she caught eye of Hedwig and Dobby in their party hats. She lost it. Everyone started laughing then, minus the haughty owl.

They sat and ate dinner then cake. It was the best birthday she had ever had. Sirius stood and Remus followed, both men holding a hand out for Iris. She stood and followed them to the garage. Sirius opened the door, "Now its time for your present pup!"

"You guys didn't have to get me anything. I loved just having the party", Iris said.

Remus smiled and replied, "Iris, you deserve the world but we hope this will work for now."

She finally looked into the garage to see what he was talking about. "Suprise!" both men shouted.

"Is this really mine" Iris asked.

"Of course pup, you deserve a car of your own. You'll be going to high school soon and don't need two old men cramping your style" Replied Sirius.

Remus rolled his eyes at him and said softly, "What Sirius is trying to say is that you need to be a teenager. You made it so all of this was possible but its our job to take care of you. Now let us do that and you get to enjoy what's left of your childhood."

'What an amazing birthday' Iris thought.

I do not own Harry Potter or The Vampire Diaries unfortunately. I write this just for fun. All original characters belong to their respective universes. All mistakes are my own. Thank you!
