A midsummer heat wave had come to Tree Hill. Lindsay was lying leisurely in bed next to Jake.

"Mmmm," she smiled as he fed her grapes, "I love being spoiled by you."

"Get used to it," Jake said, "Gosh, I can't get enough of your beauty," he told her. "I do have to get dressed soon though. I'm closing on a house today."

"That's okay" Lindsay said, "I have a little errand to run as well."

Brooke walked down the stairs to the delicious aroma of pancakes and bacon.

Luke had set the table for them and already had the twins in their highchairs eating banana slices.

"Good morning," Luke said standing at the stove.

"Wow, this is impressive," Brooke smiled, taking in the moment. She grabbed the twin's bibs and put them on before sitting down.

"I hope you're hungry," Luke said, bringing her some coffee.

"I can't believe you did all this," Brooke said, adding French vanilla creamer to her coffee.

"I didn't want the boys too wake you, so I brought them downstairs. Then we just started breakfast. No big deal."

"It is a big deal," Brooke told him. "I'm not much of a morning person so this is nice."

"I've missed so much time with them," Luke said, "I want to make up for it."

"You don't have anything to make up for," Brooke insisted.

"Dammit they're burned," Luke said, turning back to the stove. "Sorry."

"It's fine," Brooke came up next to him. "You just have the temperature up too high," she turned it down as the twins started fussing.

"Why don't we make the next batch together?" she suggested.

"No!" David said in a whiny voice, throwing his banana on the floor. "Yucky nana."

"Mama, mama!" Jude started crying and threw his sippy cup.

"Maybe I'll just grab them yogurt pouches first," Brooke suggested.

"I can get them," Luke turned to the fridge the same moment as Brooke did and they collided. Feeling Luke's body against hers sent shivers through Brooke. Luke held her to steady her for a moment.

She breathed in his body wash, he still used the same brand as in high school.

"Umm you get those I'll mix the batter," Brooke suggested, breaking the tension.

After opening their yogurt pouches, he returned to Brooke watching over her shoulder. He had an overwhelming desire to wrap his arms around her.

"I'm starting back at Keith's auto shop today," he said.

"Really?" Brooke asked.

"Think you can manage the boys til I get home?"

Brooke nodded. He was so close, she was having trouble concentrating.

Later on, Lindsay appeared at Karen's café.

"Lindsay you know you shouldn't be here," Karen stated.

"Why is that?"

"You broke into Brooke's house and attacked her. Leave now. Please don't make me call the police."

"You have that backwards, mom," Lindsay replied.

"My son is divorcing you. I think its best if you stay away from all of us."

"Brooke attacked me and she's just using Luke." Lindsay pushed out a few tears. "How would you feel if Keith had gotten another woman pregnant and left you for her? Would you be so understanding then?" Lindsay demanded.

"That's not what happened. Lucas wants to raise his sons. That's the kind of man he is," Karen said.

"He's an adulterer, that's the kind of man he is," Lindsay argued.

"Just leave," Karen insisted.

"You always hated me," Lindsay said.

"I gave you a chance, but you and Lucas moved to New York, so how could I ever really get to know you?"

"Admit it, you're happy about this turn of events that brought Lucas back to you," Lindsay scoffed.

"It's time to leave. I never knew you could be so cruel," Karen said.

"I'll leave I just want you to have this goodbye gift."

Karen accepted the bag.

After Lindsay left, Karen lifted a card out of the small gift bag it read, 'Congratulations grandma your treasure is on the way'. Karen's eyes widened in shock she felt something else wrapped in tissue paper. She pulled out a positive pregnancy test and gasped.

"It was a pleasure doing business," Jake said, handing Nathan the keys to their new home. "Here's the file with your mortgage agreement and home insurance policy," he handed Nathan the paperwork before leaving.

"Let's check it out," Nathan said, turning the key and pushing the door open.

Peyton smiled excitedly as Nathan wrapped an arm around her.

"Wait," Nathan paused.

"What?" Peyton wondered if he was having second thoughts.

"I want to do this right. C'mon I'm going to carry you over the threshold," Nathan said, setting down the paperwork he was holding.

"That's only when you get married," Peyton said.

"Practice," Nathan told her.

"I'm almost 8 months pregnant and what about your injury?"

"It's better now," he said.

"You don't have to show off. I know how strong you are," Peyton protested.

"Don't you know me better than trying to talk me out of something I have my heart set on?" he met Peyton's gaze, lifting her and carrying her into the foyer.

"You're the best," she said, giving him a kiss.

"Oh Luke! I was hoping I wouldn't catch you at a bad time."

Lucas, had been fixing the brakes under a car and hit his head on the fender at the sound of Lindsay's voice.

"What are you doing here? How did you get back here?" he asked, seeing her leaning on the car wearing a short lemon sundress.

"The oldest trick in the book, show a guy your cleavage and he's like putty in your hand."

"I don't want to see you," Luke said roughly, standing up.

"Have you seen Brooke's cleavage yet or are you just her slave?" Lindsay laughed.

"You should be locked up," Luke gripped her arms forcefully not letting go.

"I told you I was getting a good lawyer. An old lawyer friend from Yale owed me a favor. The judge took a lot of sympathy on me, seeing as how my cheating husband left me for his mistress. All I did was follow you here to save our marriage and got attacked," Lindsay pouted.

"I don't care what happens to you anymore," Luke shoved her back into the wall, so she couldn't move. "Stay away from us," he said. He pushed all of his weight against Lindsay, holding her against her will, making his point.

"Watch it," Lindsay whimpered, struggling against him.

Luke held her tight, "If anything happens to Brooke or my sons, you won't live to regret it," he said, looking deep into her eyes, before releasing his grip on her.

"I have to get back to my man anyway. I'm glad you're employed, as you're going to have a big child support bill coming your way. I already told your mom the good news." Lindsay said. She looked down to see Luke's handprints on her arms.

Luke stared at her, they were inches apart. He didn't trust himself to put his hands back on her, he didn't want to do something he'd regret. Lindsay stepped back as if sensing his hot temper.

"I've missed shopping for you, I see princess Brooke has you just wearing rags these days," Lindsay drawled, tossing him a shirt before hurrying off.

Luke read the pink letters on the shirt Promoted to Girl Dad. He threw it in the trash.
