Inside the stables it was not a silent night. Mary had gone into labor. Joseph was rubbing her back and trying to keep her calm. Mary suddenly had a thought.
"Joseph," she said, "What if this baby is a girl?"
Joseph paused. He never considered that this baby might be a girl.
"If it's a girl," he said, "Then Her name ought to be Yahsourah"
"What does it mean?"
"Yahsourah means Daughter of the Heavenly Father," Joseph said.
"Will you still love me if She's a girl?" Mary asked.
"Mary, I would love you even if it was a Monkey," Joseph replied.
He meant it too.
A few minutes later the pain was unbearable. She started pushing. Seven minutes later they heard the sound of a baby crying.
"She's beautiful," Joseph said, kissing Mary.
"I want to hold Her," Mary said.
Joseph smiled and handed Yahsourah to Mary. She instantly fell in love with Her."
"We have to take her to be blessed," she insisted.
Joseph nodded.
"That's going to be a bit tricky. Rabbi Isaiah doesn't bless girls. He says girls are the helpmate for the men and that as such a woman needs instruction on how to obey her husband."
"It sounds like he's stuck in his ways of thinking," Mary mused out loud.
"Absolutely, but Rabbi Daniel blesses everyone, girls and boys."
Three days passed before Mary was strong enough to travel. Mary and Joseph brought Yahsorah to the temple to have Her blessed..
"She is beautiful," Rabbi Daniel greeted them.
Mary beamed
"Thank you," she said, "Her name is Yahsourah and She's three days old. We have taken Her to the temple to be blessed."
"Oh," Rabbi Daniel smiled, "It's against my boss's rules to bless girls"
There was a pause and then he added, "So please don't tell him. I could get in serious trouble."
He took Yahsourah from Mary and blessed Her.
"There's something special about this child," Rabbi Daniel said.
He felt it when She was in his arms.
"Yes, there is," Mary replied smiling.
