As Issei approached the client's home, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The front door creaked open with an eerie groan, revealing a chilling sight. Bloodstained furniture and shattered glass littered the floor.
Issei's heart raced like a wild animal, pounding in his chest with a mix of fear and adrenaline. He felt his eyes widen with fear as he took in the scene, his mind racing with questions. Who could have done this? And why?
Issei's gaze lingered on the pool of crimson on the floor, his mind reeling with the implications. Whoever had committed this heinous act could still be nearby, lurking in the shadows, ready to strike again.
Then, a voice cut through the silence, chilling him to the bone. "Punish the wicked," it echoed, dripping with fanatical intensity. Issei's blood turned to ice.
"I'm Freed Sellzen. A holy priest."
Issei's eyes darted around the room, searching for the source of the voice. His heart sank as he spotted Freed, sitting calmly in the corner, his white priestly robes stained with the evidence of his atrocities. His grin widened, his eyes flashing with madness.
"Oh, but I am," he said in response to Issei's whispered accusation. "I serve a higher purpose than you could ever understand."
Issei felt his legs tremble with fear as he tried to take in Freed's words. He was paralyzed with fear, unable to move.
"You're nothing but a murderer," Issei whispered, his voice shaking with terror.
Freed laughed, drawing a gleaming sword of light and a handgun from his side. "You think you can stop me?" he sneered.
Before Issei could react, a searing pain shot through his leg, and he stumbled forward, a sharp cry escaping his lips. Freed's attack had struck true, a beam of light piercing through Issei's flesh.
"These bullets have been blessed by an exorcist..." Freed said while licking his gun.
Issei's vision began to blur as he fell to his knees, clutching at his wounded leg. He was consumed by fear, unable to think or move or do anything but feel the overwhelming terror coursing through him.
Issei turned in fear and tried to run. "I'm going to die again, why does this shit always happen to me?" With a fluid motion, Freed danced into the doorway, slashing across Issei's back with his holy blade.
A scream drew the attention of both men. Asia had walked into the room and was horrified to see the murder scene and her friend covered in blood.
"What the hell...? Asia, what are you doing here? Are you done creating the barrier already?" Freed yelled.
Asia's arrival seemed like a fragile beacon of hope amidst the darkness. Her eyes, wide with shock, locked onto Issei's, and he could see the horror reflected in them.
"Asia, get out of here! Run!" Issei's voice was weak, each word a struggle against the pain searing through his body.
Freed's maniacal laughter filled the room again, cutting through the air like a knife. "Oh, don't leave yet, Asia," he taunted, his eyes gleaming with cruel delight. "This is divine retribution in action. You should witness it."
Asia, frozen in place, seemed to be wrestling with herself. Her instincts told her to stay and help, but the terror of the scene before her was overwhelming.
Issei's mind raced, desperately searching for a way out. He couldn't let Asia fall into Freed's hands. Gathering what little strength he had left, he forced himself to stand, using the wall for support and summoned his sacred gear.
Freed turned his attention back to Issei, an amused smirk playing on his lips. "Still standing, huh? Impressive. But futile."
Summoning the last vestiges of his courage, Issei looked Freed in the eyes. "I'll... never let you hurt her," he gasped out, his voice filled with determination despite the agony he felt.
Freed's expression darkened, his amusement replaced by irritation. "Heroic last words won't save you," he snarled, raising his sword again.
But before Freed could strike, Asia said softly, "Issei, why are you here?"
Asia's question hung in the air, a momentary distraction that caused Freed to pause, his sword still poised to strike. Issei's vision swam with pain, but he forced himself to focus, to grasp at the opportunity Asia had unintentionally created.
"Asia, get out of here!" Issei shouted, the urgency in his voice clear despite his weakened state.
Freed sneered, his eyes shifting between Issei and Asia. "What's this? A touching reunion?" he mocked, his grip tightening on his sword. "Too bad it ends here."
Issei found himself too reliant on the wall. Freed's sword swung down with deadly precision, and Issei braced himself for the impact, knowing he couldn't move fast enough to stop it. But just as the blade was about to strike, Asia jumped in front of him, and Freed stopped short of killing her.
The room fell into a tense silence as Freed's sword hovered mere inches from Asia's face. Her eyes were wide with a mixture of fear and determination, and the light from the blade cast eerie shadows on her pale skin. Freed's face twisted in a cruel smirk, clearly savoring the power he held over them.
"How noble," Freed drawled, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You'd sacrifice yourself for this devil?"
Asia, trembling but resolute, stood her ground. "Please don't, I beg you for mercy... Forgive this man his sins, Father...! Couldn't we just let him go?" she said, her voice barely above a whisper but filled with unwavering resolve.
"That thing isn't a man. It's a devil." Freed's smirk widened, his eyes glinting with a maniacal gleam. "How touching," he sneered, "pleading for the life of a devil. You're more pathetic than I thought."
Asia's trembling increased, but she didn't back down. Her voice, though soft, held a firm conviction. "Everyone deserves a chance at redemption. Please, let him go."
Freed's laughter echoed through the room, cold and mocking. "Redemption? For a devil? You're deluded." He moved his sword closer to Asia's face, the light from the blade casting eerie reflections in her eyes. Swinging, he cut through Asia's clothing.
"I'm not supposed to hurt you, but I don't give a damn about that now... You know what happens to naughty girls, don't you? Asia! Why shouldn't an upstanding priest do what he wants with a filthy tramp like you? That's not so wrong, is it?!" Freed laughed while leering at Asia's body.
A red summoning portal appeared in front of Issei, shocking everyone. Kiba leaped out and attacked Freed, who had grabbed Asia's hands. Freed jumped back, dodging the attack as Asia fell to the ground. Issei's heart lifted with a surge of hope as Kiba emerged from the red summoning portal, his sword glinting with righteous fury. The air crackled with tension as Kiba faced off against Freed, his expression one of cold determination. Akeno and Koneko also walked through the portal, which stayed open.
Freed's eyes gleamed with twisted delight at the sight of the newcomers. "Oh, my lucky day, a busty devil slut and her gang have come to play. Now we've got ourselves a good old-fashioned gang bang!" he cackled, his voice dripping with mockery.
Kiba's jaw clenched, his sword at the ready as he eyed Freed with disdain. "For a priest, that's quite a mouth you've got there."
Freed, undeterred, waved his gun between Kiba and Issei, his smirk widening. "What's the deal...? You're the pitcher, and he's the catcher?" he taunted, trying to provoke a reaction.
Before Kiba could retort, Rias stepped through the portal, her presence commanding attention. With a wave of her hand, she unleashed a powerful attack at Freed, forcing him to dodge. "If you want it, come and get some! But I really don't think you can handle it... Nobody hurts one of my servants," she declared with steely resolve.
Freed's expression twisted into a mix of shock and anger as he recognized Rias Gremory, the heiress of the Gremory household. "Rias Gremory..." he muttered, realizing the gravity of the situation.
Koneko, ever vigilant, sensed the presence of fallen angels nearby. "Fallen angels are here," she warned, her voice low but resolute.
Freed's grin widened, feeling emboldened by the arrival of reinforcements. "Just in the nick of time too...! Hope you're hungry; cause light spears are on the menu!" he taunted, preparing to retaliate with his own attacks.
Rias quickly formulated a plan to get Issei out of harm's way. "Right now, we just need to get Issei out of here," she instructed her team, her voice firm and decisive.
Akeno, her expression focused, nodded in understanding. "Prepare to jump," she replied, readying her own powers for teleportation.
Koneko, her grip firm on Issei, nodded in acknowledgment. "Got it," she affirmed, ensuring their safety was her top priority.
Issei's mind raced as he realized the gravity of the situation. Asia was in danger, and he couldn't bear the thought of leaving her behind.
"We can't leave! What about Asia?!" Issei's voice trembled with desperation, his eyes darting between his friends and the perilous scene unfolding before them.
Rias, her expression pained, shook her head. "I'm afraid only members of my household can jump with this magic circle... Sorry, but it wouldn't work," she explained, her voice heavy with regret.
Issei's heart sank at her words. He couldn't abandon Asia, not when she risked everything to stand up to Freed. "No... Please wait... Don't do this! I'm not going to leave her behind! You have to put me down so I can rescue her!" Issei pleaded, his voice filled with determination but only to watch as they teleported but to the club house.
Issei's determination burned brighter as he made his decision. "I'm weak right now...! But I won't be after I pump some iron and get jacked!" With resolve in his heart, Issei decided to head to a nearby playground to do pull-ups on the monkey bars, hoping to build his strength and clear his mind.
As Issei reached the playground and grabbed onto the monkey bars, doubts crept into his mind. "'That blew. I'm a sissy boy. No... I'm not gonna bitch out and throw in the towel... I've gotta save Asia from that angel douche!'" he muttered to himself, his determination resurfacing with each repetition.
Meanwhile, Asia, still shaken from the encounter with Freed, wandered aimlessly until she spotted a figure doing pull-ups on the monkey bars. "Issei, it's you," she said softly, her voice tinged with relief.
"Asia?" Issei's shocked voice echoed across the playground as he turned to see her standing there, her presence a welcome sight amidst the chaos of his thoughts.
"If your free wanna go get something to eat?"
Asia's cheeks flushed slightly at the suggestion they spend the day together, but she nodded eagerly, secretly thrilled at the chance to spend more time with Issei and let him take the lead.
Issei picked up his burger and demonstrated, holding it firmly in both hands. "First, you gotta squish it down a bit," he explained, pressing the burger gently to compress the ingredients together. "Then, take a big bite like this," he said before taking a satisfyingly large bite, letting a bit of sauce dribble down his chin for dramatic effect.
Asia watched Issei with rapt attention, feeling a flutter of excitement in her chest at his playful demeanor. "Like this?" she asked, mimicking his actions as she squished her burger and took a cautious bite.
Issei chuckled warmly, nodding in approval. "Exactly! Now you're getting it," he praised, his smile widening at Asia's adorable attempt.
Encouraged by Issei's reaction, Asia took another bite, this time with more confidence, enjoying the explosion of flavors in her mouth. She stole a glance at Issei, feeling a rush of happiness at the shared moment.
With each bite, Issei and Asia chatted and laughed, their worries momentarily forgotten as they focused on the simple pleasure of enjoying a meal together. And as Asia savored her burger, she couldn't help but admire Issei's easygoing nature and the way he made even the simplest moments feel special.
After their hearty meal, Issei suggested they head to the arcade for some fun. Asia's eyes lit up with excitement at the idea, her heart fluttering at the prospect of spending more time with Issei.
At the arcade, Issei showed Asia how to play various games, from classic pinball to racing simulations. He effortlessly maneuvered the controls, his competitive spirit shining through as he aimed for high scores.
Asia watched Issei with admiration, her eyes sparkling with delight as she tried her hand at the games, occasionally seeking his guidance with a shy smile.
"Okay, watch and learn!" Issei declared, grabbing a light gun as they approached a shooting game. He expertly aimed and fired, hitting target after target with precision.
Asia giggled at his enthusiasm, feeling a rush of affection for the boy who had become her friend and protector. "You're amazing, Issei," she said softly, her cheeks flushing pink.
Issei grinned, enjoying the praise as he turned to Asia. "Your turn, Asia! Let's see what you've got," he encouraged, handing her the gun.
With Issei's encouragement, Asia took aim, her focus intense as she concentrated on hitting the targets. Despite her initial hesitation, she soon found herself immersed in the game, her determination matching Issei's.
As they moved from game to game, Issei and Asia laughed and cheered, lost in the joy of the moment. For Asia, every shared smile and playful banter with Issei was a treasure, and she couldn't help but hope that their bond would continue to grow stronger with each passing day.
As the day began to wane, they found themselves sitting together at the local park, the fading light casting a soft glow around them.
Asia's voice trembled slightly as she began to share her past with Issei, her eyes reflecting the pain of her memories.
"When I was a baby, I was abandoned by my real parents. They left me in front of a church in a small town in Europe..." she started, her voice soft but filled with emotion. "I was told when they found me I wouldn't stop crying... The sweet nuns there brought me up."
Issei listened intently, his heart aching for the young girl who had endured so much hardship. He reached out and gently squeezed her hand in silent support.
"One day, when I was about eight... A sad little puppy who was hurt real bad, found its way into the church where I lived..." Asia continued, her voice growing softer. "I prayed as hard as I could that God would spare him... And when I did... A miracle happened."
Issei's eyes widened with wonder as he listened to Asia's tale of her miraculous healing powers. He couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the girl sitting beside him.
"Because of my power... I was immediately taken to a larger church... Men and women from all over the world would visit when they were injured or sick, and I was told to heal all of them..." Asia explained, her voice tinged with sadness. "But then one day... I came across someone who had fallen and was in bad shape. I was able to heal him, but he wasn't a man."
Issei's heart sank as Asia recounted the persecution she faced when her healing abilities were revealed. He couldn't imagine the pain she must have felt at being branded a heretic and forced to flee.
"That's awful..." Issei murmured, his voice filled with sympathy.
"So after you took off, is that when you decided to join the fallen ones?" Issei asked gently.
Asia nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Yes... But I'll never forget who I am... I say my prayers and try my best to live a good life."
Issei reached out and gently wiped away a tear from Asia's cheek. "You're amazing, Asia... I'm glad you're here with me," he said sincerely.
As Asia opened up about her dreams, Issei listened attentively, feeling a deep sense of connection to the girl beside him. He couldn't help but smile at her sincerity and determination.
"Our dreams aren't silly, Asia... They're beautiful," Issei said softly, his gaze meeting hers. "And you're not alone in them... I'll be here to support you every step of the way."
Their conversation was interrupted by the sudden appearance of Yuma, and Issei's expression hardened as he prepared to protect Asia at all costs.
"Isn't that sweet?" Yuma's mocking voice cut through the air, her presence sending a chill down Issei's spine.
Issei's grip on Asia's hand tightened protectively as he glared at Yuma, his determination unwavering despite the threat before him.
"Crap... It's Yuma," Issei muttered under his breath, his mind racing as he assessed the situation.
Asia's expression tightened with worry, but she stood her ground, her eyes filled with determination. "Lady Raynare," she addressed Yuma with a mixture of fear and defiance.
Yuma's gaze shifted between Issei and Asia, a cruel smirk playing on her lips. "Right. She's a fallen angel," she confirmed, her voice dripping with malice. "So the rumors about your downward spiral into the wickedness of devildom are true... And I had such high hopes."
"Don't even try to run, Asia," Yuma taunted, taking a step closer, her wings unfurling ominously behind her.
Asia's heart pounded in her chest, but she squared her shoulders, refusing to back down. "I want no part of the evil you and the other angels are up to...!" she declared, her voice filled with conviction.
Issei felt a surge of pride at Asia's bravery, but his concern for her safety grew with each passing moment.
Yuma ignored Asia's protest and turned her attention to Issei, her eyes glinting with malice. "Whaddaya want from me, Yuma?!" Issei demanded, his voice laced with anger and frustration.
Yuma's smirk widened as she stepped even closer to Issei, her hand reaching out to touch his cheek. "Oh, don't worry, my business here has nothing to do with you, little boy," she taunted, her touch sending a shiver down Issei's spine. "Though, I guess we could finish what we started, couldn't we? Let's... have... fun."
Issei's blood ran cold as he felt the familiar surge of power emanating from Yuma. He knew he had to protect Asia at all costs, no matter what.
"A spear of light..." Issei muttered under his breath, his expression hardening with determination. "Oh shit."
With a swift motion, Issei pushed Asia behind him, shielding her from Yuma's attack. "Get down!" he shouted, his voice filled with urgency as he prepared to face the fallen angel head-on.
"Sacred Gear! It worked!" Issei exclaimed, relief flooding through him as his Sacred Gear activated, enveloping him in a faint glow.
"Is that really all you've got...?! It's nothing but a 'twice critical'... Coming up short, as usual!" Yuma taunted, her voice dripping with disdain.
Issei's eyes widened in confusion. "Wait. A twice what?!" he muttered, trying to make sense of Yuma's words.
"It's also called a 'dragon's hand'... That thing only doubles your power temporarily. You might as well be fighting me with sticks and stones," Yuma explained, her smirk widening with superiority.
Issei gritted his teeth, frustration boiling inside him at the revelation of his Sacred Gear's limitations. "Man, that's all it does?" he muttered, feeling a surge of disappointment.
Yuma continued to taunt him. "Word upstairs is you're a devil to watch out for. They said your Sacred Gear was a force to be reckoned with, that's why I put on that dumb little girl act. 'Please, Issei... Be my boyfriend'... Ridiculous... You sure bought it though. Hook, line, and sinker!"
"Shut your face... and fight!" Issei retorted, his determination resurfacing as he prepared to face Yuma head-on.
"You're an idiot if you think you can take me on with that tiny thing! Give me the girl, take what's left of your dignity, and go," Yuma sneered, her wings unfurling menacingly behind her.
"Not happening!" Issei declared, his resolve hardening as he shielded Asia from Yuma's gaze.
"Please be careful!" Asia pleaded, her voice filled with concern for Issei's safety.
"If I can't take care of my friends, then what good am I?!" Issei thought to himself, rallying his courage as he activated his Sacred Gear once more. "Double my power...! Boost!"
As his power surged, Issei felt a rush of strength and determination coursing through him. "It's working! I feel the power!" he exclaimed, his eyes blazing with newfound confidence.
But before he could act, Yuma launched another attack, and Issei instinctively moved to protect Asia, taking the brunt of the attack himself. "Issei, no!" Asia cried out, her heart lurching with fear.
Issei winced in pain but pushed through, determined to keep Asia safe. "Nice catch," Yuma mocked, her voice dripping with contempt.
But to Issei's surprise, Yuma approached him and began to heal his wounds. "What are you doing?" Issei asked, bewildered by her sudden change in behavior.
"I'm healing you, silly," Yuma replied casually, her expression unreadable.
Issei couldn't help but feel amazed by her healing abilities. "Wow... That's handy," he remarked, feeling the pain subsiding under her touch.
Meanwhile, Asia watched with a mixture of concern and confusion. "This is awesome... The pain's almost gone away completely," she murmured, relieved to see Issei being healed.
But Yuma's intentions became clear as she turned her attention back to Asia. "Now, Asia, be a good little girl and come with me... Your healing power is far more rare and infinitely more valuable to our kind than his Sacred Gear ever could be," she said, her tone persuasive.
"I knew it... You're only interested in me because of my power!" Asia realized, her heart sinking with disappointment.
"How about you and I make a deal...? If you agree to come with me then I won't murder your friend," Yuma proposed, her voice dripping with malice.
"Screw you, lady...! No way she's going with you!" Issei interjected, his protective instincts kicking in.
But before they could react, Yuma launched another attack. "Look out! Issei, no!" Asia cried out in horror as the spear of light pierced through Issei's body.
"I've never seen a spear that strong," Issei thought as he felt the searing pain coursing through him.
"I spared his life on purpose. If I had wanted to, I could've delivered a fatal blow... Your friend would've shattered into a million pieces," Yuma explained coldly, her gaze flickering to Issei before turning back to Asia.
"I'll go with you," Asia said, her voice trembling with resignation.
"Good girl... No need to fret-after the big ritual tonight, all your worries and troubles will be gone forever... I'll see you soon, Issei," Yuma said, her voice echoing with ominous finality.
"No, stop! Asia!" Issei called out desperately, his heart breaking as he watched his friend being taken away.
"Goodbye, friend. I'll miss you," Asia whispered, her eyes filled with sorrow as she disappeared with Yuma, leaving Issei alone with his pain and regret.
Gohan sat with Akeno and Rias in the clubhouse, his expression grave as he listened to their conversation about Issei and Asia.
"So explain why I can't go help Issei and his friend. I can sense they are in danger," Gohan insisted, his concern evident in his voice.
Rias sighed, her brow furrowing with worry. "Gohan, we understand your concern, but this situation is incredibly dangerous. Raynare, the fallen angel is powerful, and she has other fallen angels near her. We can't risk another confrontation without a solid plan," she explained, her tone serious.
Akeno nodded in agreement. "She's right. As much as we want to help Issei and Asia, rushing in without a plan could make things worse. We need to gather more information and come up with a strategy before we can intervene," she added, her voice calm but resolute.
Gohan frowned, torn between his desire to help and the need for caution. "But what if they're in immediate danger? I can't just sit here and do nothing," he argued, "I think you both clearly understand how strong I am, from that night with the stray devil."
Rias put her head in her hand, her frustration clear. "I understand, Gohan, but there's more to this than just rushing over there and helping. There's a whole political system. Do you know what your power would upend if people knew? Plus, you don't know if you're not affected by other magic. Like mental manipulation or power theft."
Gohan's expression softened as he considered her words. "I hadn't thought about the political side of things, or the potential risks from unknown magical attacks," he admitted, his voice quieter. "But what are we going to do? We can't just leave them."
Rias nodded, understanding his frustration. "We won't leave Issei. We're gathering information right now. Our priority is to come up with a solid plan that ensures everyone's safety, including yours. You're incredibly powerful, Gohan, but we can't afford to underestimate our enemies or the consequences of our actions."
Akeno placed a reassuring hand on Gohan's arm. "We'll find a way to rescue Issei. Your strength will be crucial when the time comes, but we need to make sure we use it wisely."
Gohan nodded reluctantly, his determination still strong. "Alright, I'll trust your judgment. But please, keep me informed. I want to be ready to help when the time comes."
Rias smiled, grateful for his understanding. "We will, Gohan."
Rias's peerage and Gohan were all gathered in the clubhouse after the harrowing attack on Issei and Asia. The room was filled with tension and frustration, especially from Issei, who was visibly upset.
"Why couldn't I save her?" Issei's voice broke the silence, his anguish evident.
Rias sighed, feeling the weight of the situation. "Issei, I understand how you feel, but you have to let go of Asia for now. You are a member of the Gremory Family," she said firmly.
Issei's eyes flashed with defiance. "Fine... Then maybe it's time you released me from your household... Because I refuse to just let her go!"
"I'm sorry, but I can't do that," Rias responded, her tone unwavering.
"Of course not," Issei retorted bitterly, "I'm your precious pawn... Can't do without your most important piece, can you?!"
"That's enough, Issei!" Rias snapped. "Pawns are important... They're not the weakest piece in the game by any means. Do you remember when I told you my 'evil pieces' have the same attributes as their chess characters?"
"Yeah, but so what, what can a stupid pawn do?" Issei asked, frustration and confusion mixing in his voice.
"In this chess game, quite a bit," Rias explained. "If a pawn advances deep enough into the enemy's territory, it can be promoted to any other piece besides the King."
"So does that mean eventually I can have all the same powers as everyone else?" Issei asked, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
"Yes, but only if the master declares the place enemy territory... Say, for example, the fallen one's church," Rias clarified. "Now let's talk about your Sacred Gear."
"Oh yeah, it doubles my power, is that right?" Issei asked, recalling what Yuma had told him.
"Just feel," Rias instructed. "Any Sacred Gear works in direct correlation to the current feelings of its owner... Or, to put it another way, the stronger those feelings are, the more powerful your Sacred Gear will be."
"I didn't know... That's cool," Issei mused, beginning to understand the potential of his power.
Just then, Rias's expression turned serious. "Something has come up... Akeno and I have to step out for a moment."
"Wait a minute, I have more questions for you!" Issei called out, desperation in his voice.
Rias paused and looked back at him. "Remember, even if you're promoted... no matter their rank, a single devil cannot stand up to a fallen one."
As Rias and Akeno left, the room fell into a heavy silence. Gohan stepped forward, placing a hand on Issei's shoulder. "We'll find a way to save her, Issei. But we need to be smart about it. Trust Rias, and trust us. We're in this together."
"I guess we'll have to see about that, won't we?" Issei muttered, his fists clenching in frustration.
Gohan looked at him with concern. "Are you going?"
"Yep," Issei replied, his determination unwavering. He grabbed his jacket from the back of a chair, his movements hurried. "And there's no point trying to stop me."
"You're gonna get killed," Kiba warned, his voice filled with concern as he retrieved his sword from a nearby stand, checking its sharpness and balance with practiced ease.
"Well, I can deal with that, as long as I can get her out of there," Issei replied, his resolve clear as he zipped up his jacket.
"That's very brave... Very stupid, too... This is suicide," Koneko added bluntly, not looking up from the snack she was munching on, her tone flat.
"It's none of your business!" Issei snapped, the tension in his voice rising.
"I'm coming with you," Gohan interjected, his voice firm as he crossed his arms.
"Wait, what?" Issei turned to Gohan, surprised.
"Weren't you listening...? The President basically said you get in that church and you're promoted. But she also said you wouldn't be able to do it on your own," Kiba added, sheathing his sword with a decisive click.
"Yeah... So we're gonna back you up," Gohan said, determination in his voice.
"And there's no way in hell we're gonna let you go in there without us so you might as well save your breath, dude." Kiba
"Koneko too?" Issei asked, looking at the stoic girl who was now finishing her snack and dusting off her hands.
"There's nothing else goin' on," Koneko replied with a shrug, standing up and stretching, her casual demeanor masking her readiness for the impending confrontation.
The team exchanged a series of nods, understanding the gravity of their decision. The air was thick with resolve as they prepared to leave the clubhouse, united in their mission to rescue Asia.
Mittelt, dressed in a frilly maid outfit and with a bright smile, stood guard in the branches of a towering tree, her eyes scanning the surrounding landscape with a cheerful glint. "Oh, this is just the most boring thing ever!" she complained, her voice bubbly and enthusiastic. "Standing guard is so tedious!"
Suddenly, she sensed something out of the ordinary and perked up. "Oooooh! Ask and ye shall receive!" she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
As she turned to face Rias and Akeno, who had materialized before her with a sudden flash of light, Mittelt's grin grew even wider. "Hi there, I'm Mittelt! The most awesome fallen angel in the history of ever!" she introduced herself, her tone dripping with cheeriness.
Rias regarded her calmly, her expression neutral. "My servant sensed that you were nearby... Since you're standing guard, I assume your people are worried about an attack."
Mittelt's enthusiasm didn't waver. "Worried? Ha! We're just in the middle of a super-duper-top-secret ritual, and we don't want any devils crashing the party!"
"Not to burst your bubble," Rias said with a smirk, "but unfortunately, a couple of the younger members of our team are on their way there right now."
"They're what...?! Are you flippin' kidding me?" Mittelt exclaimed, her eyes widening in disbelief.
"Nope... And they're not being discreet about it," Akeno added, her voice smooth and confident.
"Ooooh! I hate devils...!" Mittelt huffed, turning her back to Rias and Akeno. "I just wanna squish their ugly, stupid, devil faces...! Ugh, whatever! Let them do their worst... Not like they can stop us. There are way more of us than there are of them! So why are you here...? I hope it's not for some sort of rescue operation, 'cause if so, you'll have to deal with me first... I may be little, but I promise you this much: I can pack a mean punch!"
Rias shook her head, her demeanor calm and composed. "They're on their own. We won't be making any attempt to rescue them."
"So what? You're just gonna sit back and watch?" Mittelt asked, her tone laced with suspicion.
Meanwhile, at a secluded entrance to an ancient, shadowy building, Kiba, Issei, Gohan, and Koneko moved stealthily through the underbrush. The night air was cool, and the moonlight cast eerie shadows on the ground.
"Oh, man, can you feel that?" Issei spoke up, his voice tinged with nervous excitement.
"No kidding, there must be a ton of priests inside there," Kiba replied, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the area.
"Seriously... I think I'm glad you guys are here," Issei said, his unease evident.
Kiba gave him a reassuring smile. "Well, hey, you and I are buddies, right? Besides, fallen angels aren't exactly my favorite things in the world. The truth is, I hate them."
"Oh yeah?" Issei said, noticing Kiba's determined expression.
Before Kiba could respond, Koneko started walking towards the door. Issei jumped in alarm. "Hold on...! Don't just go in!"
"No need to be sneaky; they know we're here," Koneko flatly said, her voice calm and unwavering.
"Gohan, why didn't you stop her?" Issei yelled as he rushed past Gohan, trying to catch up to Koneko.
Gohan, his mind still aloft, could feel Rias and Akeno not far away. He was attuned to the energies swirling around the place, both friend and foe. He shook his head, snapping back to the present situation. "Koneko's right. If they already know we're here, there's no point in hiding."
Issei looked back at Gohan, frustration etched on his face. "But we need a plan!"
Gohan's expression hardened. "We adapt. Stay sharp and stick together. We can handle whatever comes our way."
As they reached the door, Kiba nodded in agreement. "Gohan's right. Let's move."
Koneko kicked open the heavy door, launching it across the hall, and the group stepped into the building, their senses on high alert. The air inside was thick with a palpable holy energy. They could hear faint chanting echoing through the hall.
As they crossed the hall, a hidden door creaked open, and Freed stepped out, standing before the preacher's podium. A sinister smirk spread across his face. "So, we meet again," he sneered. "I'm glad you could make it. I'm sure I'm a sight for sore eyes, huh?"
He chuckled darkly to himself. "Yeah, right."
Freed cleared his throat, adopting a mocking tone. "I pride myself on the fact that I never have to battle any devil more than once. And yet, here you are... just rubbing it in."
His expression darkened, and his eyes gleamed with malevolence. "If there's one thing I won't abide, it's being mocked by devils in the house of God. So, what do you say? Let's finish this!"
Freed's smile twisted into a sadistic grin. "The thought of tearing away your flesh and eating it piece by piece makes my mouth water."
Issei's face contorted with anger. "Tell me where she is!" he demanded, his voice echoing through the hall.
Freed's smile widened. "Oh, right... You mean that dirty devil-loving sister who's been causing trouble? She's downstairs, in the basement beneath the altar we're currently standing on."
Issei's eyes narrowed with determination. "Downstairs. Right..." He paused, then growled, "But first, you have to go through me."
With a swift motion, Gohan appeared behind Freed, placing his hand on his shoulder. "Go ahead, guys. I want to have a word with this man," Gohan said, his voice calm but laced with underlying power.
Freed's eyes widened in surprise as he felt Gohan's grip. "What the—"
Kiba, Issei, and Koneko nodded and hurried towards the altar, disappearing down the stairs to find the basement.
As they descended, Gohan's gaze never left Freed's face. He could see the anger and frustration simmering beneath the surface, and he knew that he had to address it before it was too late.
"You think you can just attack people without consequence?" Gohan asked, his voice firm but calm.
Freed's smirk returned, though now it was tinged with desperation. "You think you can stop me?"
Gohan's expression remained unyielding. "Yes, I do. Because I've seen what happens when people are left unchecked. I've seen the damage they can do but I have also seen them change and be a force for what is right"
With a swift motion, Gohan flung Freed across the hall. Freed crashed into the far wall, cracking the stone and falling to the ground with a pained grunt. He quickly scrambled to his feet, picking up his pistol and holy sword.
"I'll kill you!" Freed shouted, firing a barrage of bullets at Gohan.
Gohan effortlessly dodged each bullet, his movements a blur as he appeared in front of Freed.
"You don't get it, do you?" Gohan said, his voice calm and steady. "This isn't about killing. It's about stopping you from hurting others."
Freed coughed, trying to catch his breath. "You... you think you can just stop me?"
Gohan's eyes softened slightly, but his resolve remained firm. "Yes, I do."
With a swift chop to the back of Freed's neck, Gohan knocked him unconscious. He then turned his attention to the stairs, his senses attuned to the battle below.
Meanwhile, Kiba, Issei, and Koneko had reached the basement. The air was thick with energy, and the oppressive atmosphere seemed to grow heavier with each step they took. The faint sounds of a struggle echoed ahead, filling them with a sense of urgency.
Descending the final steps, they entered a dimly lit chamber where a grotesque ritual was unfolding. In the center of the room, Asia was bound to a cross, her delicate form illuminated by flickering candles. Raynare stood on a raised platform beside her, exuding an aura of triumph. A formidable barrier of a hundred priests, all armed with holy swords, stood between the group and the stairs leading up to the platform.
"Come on in, devils. Welcome to the party... Though I'm afraid you're too late," Raynare's voice dripped with malicious delight as she addressed the intruders.
"Asia!" Issei's voice broke with emotion as he saw the state she was in, his eyes wide with horror.
"Issei... You came," Asia's weak voice was barely audible, but it carried a profound sense of relief.
"I'm here... Hold on!" Issei shouted, charging forward. However, he was quickly intercepted by a priest swinging a holy sword, forcing him to dodge and fall back.
Raynare laughed, her eyes glinting with dark amusement. "This really is an incredibly touching reunion... Unfortunately, the ritual's over."
Issei's fists clenched in rage. "What are you doing to her...? Let Asia go right now! She's dying?"
Raynare's smirk deepened. "Twilight Healing... At last, it's in my hands," she gloated, holding up a glowing artifact extracted from Asia.
"Asia!" Issei's voice was filled with despair and anger.
"Yes! I've been lusting after this power for years! Those miserable hearts are in the palm of my hand... perfect. I'll be beloved. I'll be the most powerful fallen angel there is! All those pricks who screwed me over are going to regret it!" Raynare's voice rose in a crazed crescendo.
"Oh, screw you!" Issei shouted. "All right, let's go! You asked for it!"
"I don't have time for this! Move it!" Raynare ordered her priests.
"No, you don't!" Kiba and Koneko stepped forward, their determination palpable. With coordinated precision, they engaged the priests, clearing a path for Issei.
"Thank you! Asia!" Issei yelled, not wasting the opportunity. He sprinted towards Asia, his heart pounding.
Raynare's voice cut through the chaos. "Oh no. You deserve a reward for making it this far." With a sinister flick of her wrist, she released the bonds holding Asia.
Issei reached Asia just in time to catch her as she fell. "I got you! It's me... Are you okay?"
"Issei... you came," Asia whispered, her voice frail but filled with gratitude.
"Yeah, and we're not out yet... so stay with me," Issei urged, his eyes filled with determination.
"Kay..." Asia's voice was faint, but she managed a weak smile.
Raynare's laughter echoed through the hall, cold and mocking. "Go ahead and take the girl. I got what I needed."
"You crazy bitch...! Put her Sacred Gear back where you found it, right now!" Issei's voice shook with fury.
"So tough... Sorry. I had to betray my superiors to snag that little gem. Unfortunately for you, you're about to become my dénouement. But the good news is... you get to die together," Raynare sneered, her eyes glinting with malevolence.
"Issei!" Kiba called out, his sword clashing with the priests'. "I'm afraid they've got the upper hand!"
"You know I can't believe... I ever wanted to be with you. As if I couldn't tell you were a virgin the first time I saw you. Made my job easier, you pansies will believe anything if you think you'll get your pole greased," Raynare's voice dripped with cruel amusement.
"I actually liked you... or Yuma," Issei muttered, his voice filled with regret and anger.
"Sweetie! That was the point! I needed you to play superhero to my damsel in distress. Poor thing. You wanted to believe it so badly you never even caught on. I wish you could see your face! It makes the torture of spending so much time with you worth it!" Raynare's laughter was shrill and mocking.
"Why...? Why would you even let it go that far...? You had to've known it was pointless from the start... why let me worry so much about that stupid date?" Issei's voice was thick with emotion.
"Don't worry... That date was everything a girl like me could want... I was so bored the whole time I couldn't wait to kill you," Raynare's voice was filled with sadistic glee.
"Yuma. Meaning 'Evening Daze.' I found it appropriate since my plan was to kill you at sunset," Raynare explained with a twisted smile.
"Let's talk inappropriate... First you refuse to die, then you replace me with some pious, platinum, nun-slut," Raynare spat venomously.
"Ugh. Issei... I'm hurt... Weren't we... special? You're making me jealous. I bet you took her on one of your yawn-athon dates, too. But I guess for a sheltered little prude, a night with you is a hoot!" Raynare taunted.
"Oh Issei, how do you expect to get laid if you keep putting your victims to sleep?!" Raynare mocked.
"Shut up, Raynare!" Issei shouted, his voice echoing with raw emotion.
"I love a man who takes control! Where was this when we were dating?! You might've gotten some!" Raynare's laughter was filled with mocking glee.
'I may be a devil... but this bitch is just evil!' Issei thought as he picked up Asia and started to run out of the room.
Kiba and Koneko formed a protective barrier in front of Issei and Asia. "We've got this! Get out of here, now! Hurry!" Kiba's voice rang out, his sword gleaming as he deflected the attacks coming their way.
"We'll be fine," Koneko added, her stance unwavering, her eyes sharp and focused.
Issei hesitated, his gaze shifting between Kiba and Asia's pale face. "I can't just leave her..."
A sudden, calm voice interrupted the chaos. "How about you all leave?"
Gohan stepped into the room, his presence instantly commanding attention. His eyes scanned the scene, assessing it with a composed demeanor.
Raynare's face contorted with fury at Gohan's interruption. "And why would I let you just leave?" she challenged, her eyes narrowing dangerously.
Gohan's expression remained stoic. "I don't think you have a choice," he said calmly, his voice carrying an undeniable authority that made the priests take a step back.
"You think you can stop me?" Raynare's defiance rang out, though uncertainty flickered in her eyes as she faced Gohan's unwavering gaze.
"Yes, I do," Gohan replied firmly, his presence exuding confidence and determination.
"I'm sorry I took so long to step in, but I wanted to see what you all could do," Gohan spoke, walking past his friends towards Raynare. With a swift motion, he launched every priest into the back wall, leaving them incapacitated.
"Well, I guess you're stronger than your friends, but you can't stop me," Raynare taunted, summoning a spear to attack.
Before Raynare could react, Gohan moved with incredible speed, delivering a powerful punch to her gut. Raynare crumpled to the ground, knocked out cold by the unexpected blow.
With Raynare defeated, Gohan turned back to his friends. "Let's get Asia out of here. Rias will know what to do next."
Effortlessly, Gohan lifted Raynare, preparing to take her to Rias for further action. "Sure glad Gohan is on our side," Issei remarked, relief evident in his voice.
"You said it," Kiba nodded in agreement, gratitude washing over them for having such a formidable ally in their midst.
In the dense forest near the church, Rias stood calmly beside Akeno, her crimson eyes fixed on the three fallen angels before them. Mittelt, Dohnaseek, and Karawarner sneered arrogantly, their disdain evident in their expressions.
"That moron's abilities don't matter; he doesn't stand a chance against Lady Raynare," Dohnaseek boasted, his voice dripping with overconfidence.
"Even if she is his ex-girlfriend! Oh, we heard all the tragically lame details of their little fling!" Mittelt added, her tone dripping with mockery.
"Now, stop! Mittelt...! You're evil!" Dohnaseek snapped, though his amusement was apparent.
"What a joke!" Karawarner chimed in, sneering at Rias and Akeno.
Before they could react, Akeno summoned lightning, bolts crackling towards the fallen angels. "Watch out!" she warned.
The three fallen angels dodged the lightning and retaliated with light spears aimed at Rias and Akeno. But Rias was prepared. With a wave of her hand, she effortlessly deflected the spears.
"He's not a joke... No one laughs at my servants," Rias declared, her voice carrying a dangerous edge.
"Look what you did, now... Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to taunt her like that. Whoopsie on you," Akeno teased, her expression turning serious as she prepared for the next attack.
As Gohan appeared, carrying the knocked-out Raynare, his presence alone shifted the balance of power. The fallen angels exchanged uneasy glances, realizing they were outmatched.
Rias's relief was palpable as she thanked Gohan. "Thank you, Gohan. It seems you've handled Lady Raynare."
Gohan nodded in acknowledgment, then turned his attention to Mittelt, Dohnaseek, and Karawarner. The three fallen angels took a step back, realizing their perilous situation.
Sensing an opportunity, Rias summoned her demonic power and unleashed a devastating energy attack that engulfed the fallen angels. Their screams echoed through the forest as the energy consumed them, leaving nothing behind but fading echoes of their arrogance.
As the smoke cleared, Rias stood tall, her expression resolute. "Let that be a lesson. No one threatens my servants and gets away with it."
Akeno smiled in approval, her respect for Rias evident in her gaze. "Well done, Rias-sama."
Gohan's expression turned somber as he sighed. "Was killing them necessary?" He shook his head. "Never mind. Asia is dying, and this one took her Sacred Gear. Can we save her?"
Rias's expression softened as she looked at Gohan, understanding his concern. "They left us with no choice, Gohan. As for Asia, we must act quickly. Meet me at the church."
Back at the church, Rias teleported in to find Issei sitting beside Asia's lifeless body, while Kiba and Koneko stood guard nearby.
Gohan walked in, dropping Raynare's body onto the floor. "So what do we do?" he asked.
Rias approached Raynare's body with determination. "This," she said, killing Raynare with a swift motion of her hand and retrieving the Sacred Gear.
"I'd like to show you something," she said, holding up the chess bishop.
Issei raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "A chess piece?"
Rias nodded. "Yes, Issei. The bishop's position of power is to protect and heal the other devils in the household."
Issei's eyes widened as he realized the significance. "What does that mean?"
Rias explained, "It means we could use a good clergyman."
Issei's gaze shifted from Rias to Asia's lifeless body as comprehension dawned on him. "Wait... are you saying...?"
Rias smiled mischievously. "Our good Sister is about to be born again into the underworld."
With authority in her voice, Rias declared, "In the name of Rias Gremory, I call to Asia Argento... Hear my command."
Raising her hand, Rias began the ritual, and Asia's body began to glow with a faint light. The air around her seemed to shimmer and distort as Rias spoke again:
"Return thy soul from the shadows of death to the human realm... Rise once more as my demon servant."
The air crackled with energy as Rias continued:
"Rejoice! For you have been given new life!"
As Rias finished speaking, Asia's body glowed brighter, and her eyes flickered open. She took a deep breath, and everyone could see the spark of life return to her eyes.
