change comes like a little wind that ruffles the curtains at dawn, and it comes like the stealthy perfume of wildflowers hidden in the grass.
Awhile later
Karen's Cafe
"Hello sir. I think us making this quick is the only way to go."
"My husband wouldn't like me having such a handsome lunch date." Brooke said.
Lucas smiled. Getting up where he was seated.
He kissed her. She kissed him back.
His hand going to her stomach.
"How are the two of you?" Lucas asked.
"The cramping stopped. I went in to see my doctor."
"I got an ultrasound. Heartbeat is strong." Brooke replied.
"Good. Now i ordered for us. I know how hungry you get. Especially now." Lucas said.
"You take the best care of us. I love you." Brook replied.
"I love you too." Lucas said with a smile.

Sometime Later
Lucas almost threw his laptop. Everything is attempted to write or wrote done was terrible or overdone or meant for an audience that wasn't his fans.
He went into his desk drawer. With the office door locked.
""Aren't you tired of it? The expectation. The stress. Never being enough?" Peyton's voice echoed in his mind. More often then it should.
And he was. Tired of all. Constantly being picked apart and looked down from Ted and Victoria on top of it all.
Not being able to care for his family the way he envisioned he would be able too. He hated that. Brooke being able to cover their expenses without a second thought.
What kind of example of a father or husband was he going to be to Bailey and this new baby. With the strong feeling this is how life would remain? Lucas questioned himself.
He opened the bag and used the tools. Peyton had used that night.
Minutes later. The drugs in his system. Taking those negative thoughts and feelings away.
And Lucas was relieved.
