Heaven, Exorcist Training Grounds
Adam and Lute were walking together enjoying the peaceful serenity of a silent morning. They held each other and gave one another quick kisses and whispered sweet nothing in each other's ear. Last night they made love 3 times and they were enjoying the afterglow of their shared bond. As they were about to round the corner they caught sight of Dhalia, their mood was instantly soured. Dhalia caught them looking and sneered (think Alan Rickman as Professor Snape). Shaking their heads in exasperation, Adam and Lute continued walking through the training grounds when they got a huge shock.
A swirling portal appeared 20 yards from them and deposited four dozen beaten and broken angels at their feet and two unharmed ones flew behind them. The portal closed and Adam rushed forward with Lute not far behind, he knelt by one of the injured angels who had a hole in her chest (Blake) and asked "Blake, what happened? How did you all get hurt?" Blake let out a cough and said "Our orders came from Cassidy and Sadie. They said we had orders to exterminate the hotel and all the souls." As she continues she gets weaker and weaker until the life fades from her eyes and her body shines with a golden light. As the light fades her body disintegrates; as all things must return to dust. Her soul is then erased from the cosmos.
Adam and Lute are kneeling there shocked. Lute starts to softly cry at the death of her sister and Adam lowers his head as he begins a prayer for her; "Cinis ad cinerem, Pulvis ad Pulvis. Una die nos omnes movendum est, Pacem invenias in altera vita Blake. Tu ad caelos iterum pervenias. Vale soror." Adam finished his prayer and slowly stood up, his hands charged with angelic power. Sadie and Cassidy were about to say something when Adam lashed out. He grabbed them with his power and brought them to one of the storage rooms. When he got there he immediately started interrogating them, "BASTARDS, WHO PUT YOU UP TO THIS!"
They remained silent and just glared at him. Adam's long-suppressed anger started boiling out of control, He started to squeeze them tighter with his power and growled out "Not chatty? Fine! If I don't get an answer I'll break you in two!" The prisoners remained tight-lipped but before Adam could carry out his threat, Lute burst into the room yelling out "Adam, that's enough!" She walked over to him and put her hand on his arm, she sighed and said "I miss her too but, more violence won't bring her back. That's not what Blake would have wanted. We do what is right, not what is easy." Adam sent a stream of power to knock them unconscious before he set them on the ground and released his power. He sank to his knees and started to shed tears as Lute gently held him. They sat on the ground for a few minutes before Adam stood up and said "Thank you, Lute, I needed that. Let's get these two to Emily and figure out exactly what happened." Lute nodded silently and Adam grabbed Sadie and Cassidy before flying away. Dhalia was lurking in the corner listening, as Adam and Lute flew off, she pulled out her communicator and called Sera.
Sera's Chambers
Sera was looking over some paperwork in satisfaction. She had gotten word that a discussion between the remaining Archangels would be taking place tomorrow and that they would decide whether or not to support the end of the extermination. Micheal may be swayed by Emily's bleeding heart but the other angels would see that Sera was right. She was looking over her paperwork while a song called "Hell is Forever" played in the background. She didn't know who sang the male vocals but damn he had a nice voice.
Suddenly her communicator rang, and the private number she gave Dhalia popped up, she answered with a smile hoping for some good news; "Hello Dhalia, are you calling to let me know the mission was a success and the fallen's brat is dead?" She heard a hitch in Dhalias voice and clear signs of hesitation. Dhalia took a deep breath and answered "No, ma'am. The mission was a failure. We lost half of the angels we sent down there including Commanders Callie and Fiona. I still don't know what happened but I will look into the matter. Unfortunately, Sadie and Cassidy were captured by Adam and Lute upon their return. They were swiftly interrogated but they refused to divulge any information. I choose them specifically for their discretion and dedication. I swear that they will take any secrets to their graves. They are currently being transported to Emily. You have my apologies for this failure; I will double my efforts."
Sera sat there contemplating everything she knew so far. While it was unfortunate that the mission was a failure, she may be able to turn this around in her favor. She looked back at the communicator and saw that Dhalia was still on the line waiting for her. She stood up and cleared her throat "Dhalia, we will discuss this failure at a later time. I think I have a way to turn this around in our favor. Whatever happened during the mission the end result is over four dozen dead angels. That will not go over well. At the meeting with the Archangels tomorrow I will bring up this point and see what they have to say then. Thank you for the report Dhalia. As you always do keep an ear out and report back to many with any new important updates."
Dhalia responded with an affirmative "Yes ma'am" before she hung up. Sera sat down thinking how she would spin this at the meeting tomorrow. The news of dead angels would undoubtedly enrage some of the Archangels and bring them over to her side. With that thought in mind, she made her way from her desk and got ready for bed. Tomorrow would be a showdown and she would need all the rest she could get.
Review: I ask that all reviews be constructive criticism with suggestions on how to improve my story and writing overall. If you have nothing constructive or nice to say please do not leave a review at all. Don't like the story, don't read it. I know that many people loved the characters created by Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano exactly as they were but I wanted to write a story and put my own little twist on it. I also saw a disturbing lack of substantial Adam/Lute stories so I wanted to try and rectify that. Best wishes all and hope you enjoy :)
