Title: Ship of The Line – Effect 31

Author: Knife Hand

Feedback: Constructive feedback appreciated, flames unappreciated

Spoilers: Nothing Specific.

Rating: R

Disclaimer: I do not own Buffy, Star Trek or Mass Effect... I would buy them all but I am broke.

Summary: Bored with how things are going to play out, Janus interferes more directly in Halloween, making things more interesting and changing the course of the entire Galaxy. (Buffy/Star Trek/Mass Effect)

A/N: in response to some of the Reviews, no, the S31 ships can not simply fire from under cloak. That is not how Cloaking technology works in the Star Trek universe. The cloak takes up so much power weapons and shields are offline. Only once could a ship fire under Cloak, and that was only torpedoes and that specially modified ship and the creator were destroyed before anyone else could investigate or copy. Also please remember this is set 200 years before Mass Effect 1.

"Haven Control, this is convoy Gamma Six from Tycho. Requesting permission to land."

"Rodger, convoy Gamma Six." Came the voice of Haven Control. "Permission granted. Um... is that you Commadore?"

Xander barely resisted rolling his eyes at the comment.

"Confirmed, Haven Control." He replied. "Awaiting pattern course."

"Transmitting." Haven Control replied, a bit of embarrassment tinging their voice.

There were eight Shuttlecraft in convoy Gamma Six, and four escorting Delta Flyers, all of which had been replicated by Industrial Replicators on Tycho. Five of the shuttlecraft had passengers, mostly those who worked on Tycho but had family on Haven, but there four members of other races amongst the passengers as well. One was a Quarian who was doing her Pilgrimage, learning farming techniques from the Haven famers, something that had been an interesting negotiation between a Haven Representative and the Quarians. The other three were all Asari. Two were Asari scientists from Refuge who were investigating stellar radiation from the star Haven orbited. The final Asari, in her late maiden stage, was the nervous girlfriend of one of the original Sunnydale evacuees, who met working on Tycho, coming to meet the potential future in-laws. The other three shuttlecraft were stocked with supplies, mostly science and medical equipment from the industrial fabricators on Tycho.

There were several such convoys making regular routes around Section 31 Space, though there were discussions of changing the name of the territory as it was more than just Section 31 now. Most were between the main colonies, Haven, Refuge, New Rannoch, Tycho, Harmony and Prosperity. Harmony and Prosperity had been established for the waves of immigrants from Council Space who were not joining Section 31. There were also smaller convoys made up mostly of Delta Flyers, which were supplying the various military outposts Section 31 and the Quarians, mostly Marines, were manning throughout the space they had liberated from the Batarians.

"Convoy lead to all transports. We have landing clearance." Xander reported. "By the numbers."

The Ensign in the co-pilot seat was concentrating on her controls making sure she did everything by the book. He could understand her nervousness being co-pilot to the highest ranking Officer in the entirety of Section 31. The landing of the convoy went without a hitch and from the cockpit Xander saw two people waiting off to the side, away from the bustle of the spaceport workers and customs officials. Xander unstrapped from his chair and walked back into the passenger compartment.

"Last stop, Haven. Please ensure you have all of your personal belongings before you exit the shuttlecraft." Xander joked. "Miss Talla'Nerris Nar Hyson, if you will come with me, I will introduce you to some people."

Talla'Nerris nervously rubbed her hands on the thighs of her environment suit as she followed one of the most powerful people in Section 31 Space. Xander headed to the two figures who were waiting off to the side.

"Commadore Harris. Miss Nar Hyson, my name is Ceres." The female figure. "This is Supervisor Harris. He will be overseeing your education."

"Umm… pleasure to meet you, Supervisor Harris." Talla said, before looking between the two men. "I am not fully proficient with Human culture, but Harris? Is that like…?"

"He's my father." Xander said neutrally. "I'm going to see mother. I assume I will see you later."

"She is at the house." Tony replied. "I'll be there in three hours."

Xander left the Quarian Pilgrim with his father and the AI to get her situated, as he walked the few minutes to his parents house in the colony. Xander had the time to come over to Haven on this trip because the Ares was being repaired in the Forge, the last of the Section 31 Ships to be repaired after the fight with the Nightmare Construct.

He knocked on the door and a few moments later the door opened.

"Xander! Please, come in." Jessica Harris said as she cleared the doorway and let him inside.

The house was much cleaner than the house back in Sunnydale had ever been, without the previously ever-present beer and wine bottles which were replaced with vases of Haven native flowers. Jessica was looking much healthier than she had back in Sunnydale.

"So… I am guessing Tony messaged you." Jessica said.

"Yes. He did." Xander replied, before stepping up and hugging his mother. "Congratulations, mom."

Jessica stiffened for a moment before relaxing into the hug of the son she had not seen in almost two years and broke down in tears. While Xander had not spoken or seen his parents since the founding of Haven, he had reports from the colony AI and Joyce Summers on how his parents were getting on, with both of them having become productive and respected members of the colony, having found a purpose on Haven that the never had in Sunnydale. Xander still had some resentments about his treatment during his childhood but he still felt proud of how they had turned their lives around.

"So… when are you due? Do you know yet if it is a boy or a girl?" Xander asked.

The message Xander had received from Tony, which had led to him seeing his parents for the first time in almost two years, was two sentences. 'Your mother is pregnant. I thought you would like to know.'
