"Guys is that it?" Alexis asks as group sees a farm in the distance.
"I think so. Doesn't look like we were followed. Okay. We get in, tell Sammy what's up, get her to come with us, and get out." Ben says as the group pulls into the driveway and gets out of the van.
"The direct approach. I like it. No need to confuse her by easing into it and talking about the weather like you did with me." Darius says.
"It is really humid here." Ben says.
"Let's just make it quick so we can get back on the road." Darius says.
"So you do believe we're being hunted?" Alexis asks curiously.
"Okay look I wouldn't go that far but it can't hurt to be too careful. Is that the hay?" Darius asks as he sniffs the air and covers his nose Alexis shifts to wolf form and sniffs around before growling and covering her nose with her paw.
"Nope. That's not hay. Not sure what it is but definitely not hay." Alexis says.
"Have you never been around hay before?" Ben asks.
"No... Something's burning. It smells like... Smoke!" Darius says before the group gives an alarmed look and runs toward the house.
"Sammy! Sammy!" The group shouts as they inside and see smoke.
"What's all the shouting?" A voice says revealing to be Sammy as she squeals excitedly before running over and hugging the group.
"Ow." Ben says as Sammy squeezes the group.
"Sorry about the smoke. Burnt my pie but the back-up's already in the oven. Always make a back-up." Sammy says.
"Nice to see you." Darius says as he smiles.
"Yeah. It's great to see you again Sammy." Alexis says.
"Ugh same! But I remember hugging y'all being a lot easier. You leave any growth spurts for the other guys? What are y'all doing here?" Sammy asks as she lets go of the group.
"We're here because we're..." Ben says.
"Come in. Come in. Welcome to my home. She's a bit of a mess right now but I wasn't expecting guests or anything. Whoop! Keep meaning to fix that. Kitchen's this way. Gosh it's just been a minute since I've seen you three. Love the locs by the way." Sammy says as she goes to step away and steps on a creaky floor board.
"Thanks." Ben and Darius say in union before they look at each other as Alexis chuckles.
"You hungry? Thirsty? I've got just the thing." Sammy says happily as the group follows her into the kitchen.
"Didn't think Sammy could get any more Sammy you know?" Ben says.
"Yeah." Darius says.
"Sammy we're here because we're..." Ben says as a timer goes off.
"Ooh! That'll be the back-up pie." Sammy says as she goes over to the oven.
"How's the back-up?" Darius asks as he smiles.
"Darius." Alexis says.
"Right. No time for pie." Darius says.
"Not there yet." Sammy says as she closed the oven.
"Okay well while we wait we need to tell you s-" Ben then gets cut off by Sammy.
"Have you seen my pitchfork? I swear I just had it. You remember ol' Bessie? Well she had a calf. Oh I just love them baby moos. I need to get some more hay for her but you know what? That can wait." Sammy says as she acts a bit strangely while putting glasses down in front of the group.
"Is Sammy acting a bit weird to you guys?" Alexis asks as Darius and Ben nod.
"Uh you okay Sammy? You seem kinda distracted." Darius says.
"Just busy. It's only me around here with Yaz up north finishing school and my parents..." Sammy says sadly.
"Your parents what?" Darius asks curiously.
"We just don't talk much anymore but that's okay! I'm keeping busy. Did I mention I'm really into capoeira now? You know what they say when life gives you lemons just add sugar." Sammy says happily as she pours the group some lemonade.
"Sammy we have to t-" Ben then gets cut off by Sammy grabbing his arm.
"Oh! Sammy you ding-dong! Of course you wanna go out back and see her." Sammy says a she pulls Ben outside before Alexis and Darius look at each other and follow them outside.
"Uh... I... Wh... Yeah I wanna see her but we have to talk. Sammy stop. Seriously we need t-" Ben then gets cut off by Sammy as the group stops in front of a couple open barn doors.
"Dang it. Not again." Sammy says as the group follows her through a broken area in a fence.
"Why are we running? We do not have a good track record with running." Darius says.
"Sammy would ya slow down? Why are we-" Alexis then gets cut off as the group sees Bumpy in the distance playing with a light blue raptor with green eyes.
"Bumpy? Bumper Car!" Ben says happily as he runs and unites with Bumpy.
"Is that..." Alexis says happily as the raptor sees her and screeches happily.
"Fang? Yep. I thought I told you all that those two were staying with me. We'll go on. Go say hi. He's missed you." Sammy says as Alexis happily runs over to Fang as he nuzzles her chirping.
"I'm so happy to see you boy." Alexis says happily before Fang screeches angrily as a truck begins to pull up.
"Easy boy. Easy." Alexis says as Fang growls as Sammy and Darius run over.
"I love seeing friends reunite but we really need to get outta here." Sammy says worriedly.
"Who is that Sammy?" Alexis asks as the truck pulls into the field and faces the group.
"Trouble. Get outta the way!" Sammy shouts as the group scatters as the truck speeds toward them before Bumpy smacks the truck with her tail sending it spinning to a stop as a man steps out as Bumpy and Fang go over roaring and growling.
"Bumpy, Fang no! Get going. Carl? Are you okay?" Sammy asks as she runs over before Fang and Bumpy go over to the others.
"Did you see that? They're trying to kill me." Carl says angrily.
"To be fair you did try to run her down with your truck." Sammy says.
"I don't wanna hear it. Those destructive carnivores should have been put down months ago!" Carl says angrily.
"She's an herbivore. Can't even give a proper insult?" Ben asks as Alexis nods annoyedly.
"Look at all this. Wrecking my property and nearly crushing me. See what it did to my truck? I just can't wait to call the DPW and see those two creatures dragged outta here." Carl says angrily.
"Now Carl..." Sammy says.
"You know what? There's nothing you can say to defend those monsters this time. You're lucky if those things see another night not mounted on my wall!" Carl says as Alexis growls and walks over towards Sammy.
"I'd like to see you try. Those two creatures have survived as long as they have for a reason." Alexis says angrily.
"They're not the monster here." Ben says as he walks up to beside Alexis.
"Well ain't you brave. Well maybe I'll just skip past the DPW and take care of those menaces myself. Use something a little more effective than a truck." Carl says as he chuckles as Alexis and Ben glare at him.
"Now let's all hold our horses a moment and not do anything more to escalate this predicament than we already have. I'm just gonna assume you all three hear me through those stares. Here's what we're gonna do. I'll get Bumpy and Fang off your property and fix the fence extra well this time. I mean that. Carl go home and I'll bring you over one of my famous pies. How's that sound? Carl. Go home. Okay then." Sammy says as Carl growls and leaves.
"Dude was totally bluffing." Ben says.
"Not really the bluffing of the loose-cannon type." Sammy says as Darius walks over.
"He seems like a guy who owns actual cannons." Darius says.
"You should make him a mud pie." Ben says.
"I'd be put laxatives in it or worse if he talked to me like that." Alexis says as Sammy gasps.
"Oh shoot. My pie. Let's go Bumpy, Fang." Sammy says as she runs off with Fang and Bumpy.
"Wait! We need to talk to you. It's important!" Ben shouts.
"Man she does not stay still for long." Alexis says as Ben sighs before the group runs after Sammy.
"Now stay put while I tend to my pie which I guess is Carl's pie now." Sammy says as she locks up Bumpy and Fang before going inside.
"Sammy stop. This is urgent. Sammy!" Ben shouts as he groans before the group follows Sammy inside as she gets the pie out and puts it on the counter.
"Sammy stop! Please." Alexis says.
"No! No more distractions. We need to talk to you. Someone is hunting us. I don't know who but I think those same people were behind Brooklynn's death. And they're after all of us. That means we need to warn Yaz and Kenji. If these people and raptors apparently find any of us they'll... It won't be good. Which means finding the others before they do." Ben says as Sammy gives a shocked expression.
"Darius? Alexis?" Sammy asks.
"It's true Sammy." Alexis says.
"I don't know for sure but... I don't think we can afford to risk it." Darius says.
"Good enough for me. We gotta warn them." Sammy says.
"Yes. Great. I was thinking we... Now where are you going?" Ben asks as the group follows Sammy into the hallway.
"I can't just leave straight off. Gotta get some supplies for our trip." Sammy says as she opens a door and freezes.
"Sammy?" Darius asks.
"Are you okay?" Alexis asks as the group sees Brooklynn's jacket on a chair in the room as Sammy steps away from the doorway.
"Kenji's place is on the way to Yaz's. He keeps changing his number but I can call Yaz while we're on the road. I think there's a map around here somewhere. Service is terrible from here to Wyoming." Sammy says as she hands a box of stuff to Ben.
"Sammy stop. Please, just... Stop." Darius says as Sammy looks at him sadly.
"And what Darius? Stop and think about Brooklynn dying or my family not speaking to me or Yaz pulling away from me? No. I... I can't stop. I won't." Sammy says sadly as Alexis looks at her sympathetically.
"Sammy I..." Darius says as the lights suddenly flicker off.
"I just fixed the breaker box last week. Carl." Sammy says angrily as Ben hands Darius a flashlight.
"If he's messing with Bumpy he's getting more than a mud pie. He's getting a knuckle sandwich." Ben says angrily as Alexis shifts to wolf form growling.
"And a bite to boot if he tries to hurt Fang." Alexis says as she snarls.
"You kiss your mother with that mouth?" Darius asks as he smiles before Alexis looks at him and smiles before shaking her head.
"I got the breaker. You go check on Bumpy and Fang." Sammy says.
"On it." Darius says as the group goes outside and sees Carl's truck near the fence.
"There he is." Alexis says.
"Guess he wasn't bluffing. We know that's you Carl! Stop messing with our dinosaurs!" Ben shouts as the group begins to go toward the truck only to stop seeing Carl is dead and immediately hide behind some hay and look around hearing noises as they see the raptors from before.
"The raptors." Alexis says worriedly as the group turns off their flashlights.
"They found us." Ben says.
"How? We're over 1,000 miles from my cabin." Darius says as the group hears Bumpy and Fang inside the pens.
"Oh no. We can't leave them in there." Alexis says as she shifts to human form.
"They're sitting ducks in that pen. I gotta go help Bumpy." Ben says.
"Ben and I'll go free Bumpy and Fang." Alexis says.
"I'll get Sammy. Meet up at the van after." Darius says.
"Be careful." Alexis says before the group splits up.
"Hey girl." Ben says as Bumpy bellows at him as he and Alexis go up to the pen doors as Fang chirps seeing Alexis.
"Easy boy. Don't worry. We're gonna get you out." Alexis says before Ben and Alexis quickly hide in an open pen behind some hay seeing one of the raptors and trick it into going into the pen before trapping it inside as it comes to the door growling and roaring angrily.
"Get somewhere safe girl." Ben says as he owns Bumpy's pen while Alexis opens Fang's pen.
"Go boy. Go with Bumpy." Alexis says as Fang and Bumpy run off before the two meet Darius by the van.
"Sammy let's go!" Darius shouts as the group quickly get into Ben's van and begin to make a get away as they see Fang and Bumpy fighting the raptors in the mirrors before seeing the two dinosaurs run off.
"So this is really happening?" Sammy asks.
"Yeah. It's happening." Darius says.
"Let's go see Yaz and Kenji." Sammy says.
"Um... Do you have a map to get to them? 'Cause I do not." Ben says.
"Actually yeah. It fell outta Brooklynn's jacket when I was hiding from that muscly raptor." Sammy says as she pulls a map out of her pocket.
"Her jacket? Why did she have a map?" Alexis asks.
"Not sure why she had it. She marked all our addresses." Sammy says.
"Hey check that out. That address in Colorado whose is that?" Darius asks as he and Alexis look at the map.
"That one's Kenji's but the one right near it I don't know." Sammy says.
"The date and time she wrote down that's... That's not long before she died." Darius says.
"If she wasn't gonna see Kenji..." Ben says.
"Where was she going?" Alexis asks.
