A Few Days After Hades Had Been Destroyed
Ruby lay on her bed, sleeping peacefully. "Mmm… yes Pit, I'd love some ice cream with you…" She mumbled in her sleep.
"Ruby…"
"What…? What do you mean it's from the ground…?"
"Ruby…"
"Can we eat something else…?"
"WAKE UP, YOU DOLT!"
"Yagh!" Ruby yelped, falling off of her bed and faceplanting. "Ow!" She groaned as she sat up and saw Weiss tapping her foot impatiently. "What?! What is it?"
"We're almost late for class, you dunce!" Weiss said.
"What are you-" Ruby's eyes glanced over at the clock as she let out a gasp as she quickly used her semblance to quickly get herself dressed.
"Rubes, remember the last time you used your semblance to quickly change?" Yang asked as Ruby would be wearing her uniform upside down, including her skirt.
"Mmph… it's gonna work one of these days!" Ruby sighed as she quickly switched it around. "Alright, let's go!" She said as RWBY rushed out the door and went to their first class, meeting up with JNPR as they walked into class.
"Slept in?" Pyrrha asked.
"Yeah…" Ruby sheepishly responded as they would find their seats.
"Wait a minute…" Yang would peek at the chalkboard.
"What's up?" Ruby wondered.
"We have a new professor today?" Yang wondered.
"Do you know who it is?" Blake asked.
"Nope." Yang responded as Glynda walked into the room.
"Alright, settle down." Glynda said. "You may notice that we have a new professor today. Please, do not give him too much of a hard time. It is his first day after all." She said as they all nodded. "Professor, you may come in." She said as RWBY saw a familiar face walk into the classroom.
WHAT?! All four of them thought at the same time.
"Hello everyone." Lucario greeted.
"Isn't that the guy who hung out with you for a while?" Nora would whisper.
"Yeah, it is!" Ruby responded.
"Good luck." Glynda would say as she walked off.
"Now then, you may be wondering who I am. I am Lucario, though you may call me Professor Lucario." He said. "In this class, I am going to be teaching you all about aura, as it is my specialty." He would then notice a hand being raised. "Yes, you… what is your name?"
"Cardin." He responded.
"Yes, Cardin, you have a question?"
"Yeah, since when did they start hiring dirty animals as teachers?" Cardin asked as CRDL started snickering at this.
"Ah, I am more than just an "animal", as you speak. I am a Pokemon."
"Oh, is that what they call Faunus these days? Please, as if a freak show like you can teach us anything."
"Mmm…" Velvet let out a groan.
"Easy there…" Coco said, putting her hand on her shoulder.
"Is that a fact?" Lucario let out a smirk and then raised his paw as a purple flame surrounded his paw. "Now, my aura is different than yours. While your aura is the bloodstream of your world, it works a little differently in mine. You see, I am not the only Lucario in my world. We all have aura within us as soon as we are born in this world as a Riolu. With our aura, we can enhance our strength the more we take damage. Plus, we can see things far away from us when we channel our aura."
"You're exaggerating." Cardin said.
"Am I now? Let us initiate a battle then, hot shot." Lucario said as Cardin got up with a smirk, approaching the front of the room.
"You got this Cardin!" Dove called out.
Cardin pulled out his mace, smirking at Lucario. Lucario folded his arms and closed his eyes. "To demonstrate, I will put on this blindfold." He said and put it on him. "Now Cardin, come at me."
BGM: Battle! Dialga/Palkia - Spear Pillar (Super Smash Bros Brawl/Wii U/Ultimate)
"Perfect." Cardin smirked as he rushed at Lucario and swung his mace, but through Lucario's aura, he saw him coming from a mile away as he ducked. "Huh?!" Cardin would look at him in shock before swiftly swinging his mace, to which Lucario would gracefully dodge each attack, even bending backwards when Cardin swung upward, while everyone else was looking at him in awe.
"He's incredible!"
"Holy crap, what IS he?!"
"Amazing!"
Cardin would swing his mace down, but Lucario grabbed his wrist. "Now it's my turn." Lucario said, delivering a palm strike that sent him flying a few feet and had him crash to the ground.
"Wh-HOW?!" Cardin said as Lucario took off his blindfold.
End BGM
"Now then… where were we?" Lucario turned to the rest of the class. "Ah yes, aura. Through training, we can enhance our aura and strengthen it. And in my case, the more hits I take, the stronger I get. It's… complicated." He chuckled. "But with your aura, it's everyone's lifeblood and you will have to nurture it and strengthen it in order to be efficient in battle. Now, shall we begin our lesson?" He asked as everyone nodded while Cardin returned to his seat with a grumble, mentioning "showoff".
"Oh, I like this guy already." Nora said.
"He was definitely graceful." Ren agreed as RWBY looked at each other. They did not realize that this same Lucario that traveled with them for a short time was this strong.
Later in the day, outside of Beacon Academy…
"An outside lesson… with another new professor?" Jaune wondered.
"Wonder who it is?" Pyrrha wondered as they heard footsteps approaching.
"Greetings everyone." A voice said as they turned to see Robin approaching.
"Wait, is he that Robin guy in that… Smash Mansion?" Yang whispered.
"I believe so." Ruby whispered back.
"I am Professor Robin, I will be teaching you Tactics and Strategy." He said. "Now then, let me see your weapons. All of you." He requested as they did so, but Velvet didn't take one out. "Excuse me, miss…"
"Velvet."
"Velvet, you haven't taken our your weapon. Why is that?"
"Oh, you see, she has a very special weapon." Coco said and would whisper in Robin's ear.
"Oh… that would be important." Robin nodded as he took out his Bronze Sword. "Here Velvet, you can use this for class." He said, handing her the Bronze Sword.
"Thank you." Velvet said, holding the sword.
"Now, I see you have very… interesting weapon choices. Scythes, gauntlets, rapiers, maces-"
"Some of these are also guns!" Ruby chimed in, causing Robin to sweatdrop.
"I see… now then, back in Ylisse, which is my world, we typically have more traditional weapons. Swords, spears, axes, bows, tomes and the like. Plus we have an interesting set up in our world, the weapons triangle, if you will. Sword beat axes, axes overpower lances, and lances typically do well against sword users. If you happen to have a tome or a bow, then you'll have to experiment on what works best. You have to be strategic before you run in swords blazing."
"Pfft, strategy? Please, we can beat the crap out of anyone." Yang said.
"While that is true, Yang… beating the "crap" out of someone would be an interesting tactic. However, there will come a time where that tactic will no longer work unless you prefer dying on the battlefield, looking at the clouds and waiting for death's embrace to take you. By the time help arrives, it will be too late."
"Not true. Ruby's the fastest girl here. My sis will definitely come to my time of need!" Yang grinned.
Robin smirked. "And what if Ruby doesn't come? What if she's caught up on something else? The battlefield is an ever changing area and every decision you make will alter the fight. Ruby may be on your side in one moment, and in the next, she'll be nowhere near you. You must strategize your every move, otherwise it will cost you dearly."
Yang's grin disappeared. "…Oh… but what if you're wrong?"
Robin frowned. "Yang, I've been in too many battles and I've nearly lost a dear friend or two due to an error that I've made. You think you have what it takes to be in war? You wouldn't even last five minutes."
"I… mmmph…" Yang let out a sigh.
"Let this be a lesson to you, Yang. If you keep running into things head on, it will cost you dearly."
"Like my life?"
"Amongst other things. You'd be lucky to even be alive. If you keep recklessly charging into things, you may lose a limb or two, friendships may be strained or lost completely… this also includes family members."
"…You're wrong… that's not going to happen."
"It always happens." Robin said. "…Now then, changing the subject… there are lots of enemies that you may face in battle. Bandits, archers, ninjas, Pegasus Knights, Manaketes-"
"Pegasus?" Pyrrha asked.
"Yes." Robin nodded as he walked toward a bush and uncovered a few pegasi. "I even brought a few pegasi for this lesson." He said.
"Ooooh, pretty!" Nora grinned.
"You will ride these pegasi to get a feel for them. I've a feeling we're going to be having a lot of fun in this class. Now then, who wants to take the first flight?"
"I will." Cardin said as he walked over to a Pegasus. "Heh, look at this creature, it looks like he was made for me!" He said, hopping on him as the pegasus let out a huff and glared at Cardin… before bucking him off and making him faceplant. "OOOF!"
"You shouldn't do it so roughly. They like it when you're gentle." Robin said.
"Mmph… now you tell me…"
A few minutes later…
BGM: Barracks Theme (Fire Emblem Awakening)
"Whoa… WHOOOOOA!" Weiss yelled, getting a hang of being on a Pegasus. "Okay… I got it… I think I got it!" She said as rubber arrows would be flying at her. "AAAH! What the?!"
"Don't be so comfortable on a pegasus! Pegasus Knights are typically in danger when they're in the presence of an archer." Robin said as the pegasus would be struck by a rubber arrow as it let out a pretend pained whinny and would fly toward the ground as if it were about to crash into the ground, with Weiss screaming on the way down, but it landed gracefully as Weiss had paled up.
"You okay?" Ruby asked.
"I think so…" Weiss said, getting off and shaking like a leaf.
"Just walk it off." Robin said, patting her on the shoulder and turned to see JNPR sparring against CFVY with wooden spears, swords and axes. "Now then, we have a special guest here. Come on out, please." He requested as Nowi approached them.
"Hello~!" Nowi greeted and would spot Weiss. "Oh! Hi Weiss~!"
"H-hey…" Weiss said, still shaken up.
"Now, we will begin a battle against a Manakete." Robin said. "Nowi."
"With pleasure!" Nowi said, transforming into her true self.
"WHAT THE…?!" Coco yelled.
"That is… oh my…" Yatsuhashi said as Velvet had no words, her mouth having jawdropped.
"Alright, let us begin the battle with-" The bell started ringing. "Oh, class is over already?" Robin wondered. "No matter, we will continue this tomorrow."
"Aww." Nowi pouted, turning back to normal. "Oh well, tomorrow will wait!"
"Tomorrow, we will continue our discussion about tactics and strategy. You are dismissed." He said as the group walked off.
End BGM
Later…
"So, how was your first day?" Ozpin asked.
"Pretty good if I say so myself." Lucario said.
"It was satisfactory, although Yang has me concerned." Robin said.
"Oh?"
"I just hope she doesn't do anything reckless that will endanger her or her comrades… especially Ruby."
Ozpin let out a chuckle. "I see you two are adjusting well." He said and walked off.
"Tomorrow's another big day." Lucario said.
"Indeed, but it's nothing we can't handle."
"You got that right." Lucario said, both of them taking their hands and grasping it with a smirk as Lucario would head back to the Smash Mansion while Robin headed back to his new home, where Tharja, Morgan and Noire would happily welcome him home with open arms.
This was a fun one to write!
Also, the Game Awards have been announced. I'm questioning why Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit was considered as a nominee for Best Family Game... every time I would see gameplay, i'd get a bit nauseous...
Though i'm getting some major Death Stranding vibes this year, what with Last of Us Part 2 dominating nearly half of the nominees.
But here's what we got for Game of the Year: Animal Crossing, Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy VII, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades, and wouldn't you know it, Last of Us Part 2. (I predicted the first three would be a contender for Game of the Year and I just had this gut feeling that Last of Us would be one as well.)
Anyone gonna watch it? I'm gonna skip it this year... again. I dunno, 2018 dragged on for me (as did 2017, the only two years i've watched it) soooo, i'm not real "hyped" into watching it.
