Cap. 2
"I don't know how he found our number, but he…"
Elliot jumped from the bed and started the search for his cellphone.
"Kathy, what happened to her? he was trembling now.
"Calm down, Elliot! She's fine! Everything is fine!"
"How could you forget to tell me? What if she's…?"
"She's ok. Do you think I would forget to tell you if she was in danger?" she said and thanked God that she was the one picking up the phone. If Fin was going to comment something about him not being there for her in 2013, her marriage would be over then and there.
He left out a long breath and she relaxed a little.
"He called and said she's going to receive an award and it's a great honor for the NYPD and it could be a good time for you two to finally reunite. I agreed because it would be perfect for us to be there because of your testimony at the trial of the case you're working on in New York."
His head was spinning, she was fine and was going to be honored. While Kathy talked, Elliot grew more and more shocked. What the hell was going on with her?
"You're the new liaison in Rome and her former partner. You should deliver a speech or something."
"So you're not only ok with me talking to her but seeing her in person too? Be honest, Kathy. What's going on?"
"Elliot, you be honest. We went back to visit four times. You never went to see her? Not even from afar?
"No."
She looked at him and laughed.
"I don't believe you."
"Believe what you want, I never went to see her or called her. But now, thinking about it I'm sure I should, you never believed me anyway."
"So if he calls again, I'll tell him we're going." Kathy didn't want to push him too far so early in the morning. She knew her husband and the way he was when they were discussing Olivia.
"I can't talk right now, I have to work and to think."
"Ok, El."
He went to the bathroom and locked the door. He wanted to cry, couldn't believe that even after so many years not only his wife didn't believe him about not talking to Olivia but now wanted them to see each other. He felt like the torture, sadness and distance were all for nothing but suffering. He couldn't face Olivia like that, publicly. He deserved a slap, a punch in the face and he wanted her violence, her anger, her vengeance. And she, she deserved the honor, the best, the world! He prayed for her everyday. He thought about her everyday.
"El?" Kathy called him from the bedroom.
After a while, he grunted a "yeah" and she dropped another bomb.
"Olivia is a Captain now. Captain of SVU".
And then he cried of happiness and sadness of not seeing her become a Captain. He cried and cried until his thoughts about her shifted to the erotic fantasies he indulged himself in the shower. In this new one, he tried to relive the dream and closed his eyes. Soon she appeared there, in the bathroom and he went down on his knees in front of her to lick her pussy until she came in his mouth and then fuck her from behind until she screamed his nickname non stop. "El, El, El, Elllll".
He came hard against the tiles. Catching his breath, he finished his bath and opened the door. Kathy was gone. Thank God.
He didn't sit on the table to eat breakfast. He took a bagel and told Eli to hurry because he was going to be late.
The boy kissed his mom and left the kitchen.
"We can talk later, Elliot." Kathy said calm and collected.
"Yeah" he said and left.
While he was driving his son to school, his thoughts were on her once again.
Olivia.
Would she want to see him again after 10 years of abandonment and silence?
Would she listen to his apologies?
Would she give him a chance?
What if she was married? What if…
"DAD!"
It was almost too late, he had to pull the emergency brake and the car almost went flying from the small bridge.
Catching their breathes, Eli started to laugh and said:
"Yo, dad, you may want to be James Bond but this car don't have wings".
He tried to smile and got out of the car to check the damages.
Nothing bigger than the ones he caused in Olivia's life and was about to cause in everyone's lives because if he heard her voice now and saw her, he was sure he wouldn't be able to leave her a second time.
