"It's Karaoke Night—" Covering my ears at the foghorn that my cousin, Alex, had blown, all because of his little sister's dirty mouth. College Karaoke Night just got to love them, as I raise my glass of water to Amelia, who is laughing, "Come on, Russell. It's time to party. You just got yourself engaged to the most beautiful girl there is." We lift our drinks to Russell, who covers his face with his big hands, while his new fiancée, Sarah, giggling at us. Amelia sits down, then stands back up, "Before we forget our Cecilia," She moves to point at me, girl! You have done everything in your power, and we are so proud of you for getting your degree in Ocean Science. Suppose mermaids were real because of how you swim so naturally in the water. You had to be a fish in a previous life or maybe a dolphin." Everyone is laughing as I lift my glass in thanks to her.
As I look at Russell and Sarah, we are enjoying ourselves as I stand up to exit the room, knowing that it was nearly three in the morning. Oh, yay. The witching hour, our favorite part of the night, or it is morning. I walk out only to see people huddling down under tables, looking up to see that there was a man with a shotgun. He looks strung out as I silently shut the door flicking the lock. Sorry, guys. He looks at me as I kneel to a little girl who is ready to cry. Seeing a Rapunzel book in her hand, whispering to her, "You must like the woman with the long hair." She nods as a woman looks at her, "Is that your mother?" She nods; well, the kid is way past her bedtime, "Do you want me to sing you a song? My little sister has a song that she sings from the movie Tangled. Do you like Tangled?" She nods as I sing at her, "Flower, gleam and glow…Let your power shine…Make the clock reverse…Bring back what once was mine…Heal what has been hurt…Change the fates' design…Save what has been lost…Bring back what once was mine…What once was mine."
She smiles at me when a group of men jumps up, struggling with the man and gun. I move in front of the girl when a loud bang and pain flare up in my back. There are shouts as I look down to see blood starting to form on my stomach; the little girl screams as her mother comes to shout, "We have to stop the bleeding." Something didn't feel right. My heart was beating loudly in my ears; there was no pain like there should be. "Jacob, we have to get her to the hospital."
"Scarlet, it's too late for her. She'll die before she gets there." The bullets were full of lethal poison. I can hear them around me as the little girl starts crying. She is leaning over me as I turn my head; oh, wow, my head feels like it is so bulky.
Cupping the little girl's cheek, why do my hands feel like they are weighed down by weights, "It's okay. Here let us sing that song again." She nods as I look at her, her long blond hair flowing down her back, "Flower, gleam and glow…Let your power shine…Make the clock reverse…Bring back what once was mine" It was getting harder to breathe as I took a breath, "Heal what has been hurt…Change the fates' design…Save what has been lost…Bring back what once was mine…What once…was…mine." The room spins as I am facing the girl and her parents. I never knew that bullet wounds could be like this. It hurts so bad while it will happen to me as the world begins to black around the edges. The world would fade away from me. I feel so cold.
Gasping at feeling a strange feeling looking around…Clockwork's place, how? Sitting up only to see that my hands are their standard color. What the heck? Standing up, I turn around to see that… a screen, hey, this is the screen where Clockwork looks at everything, so this is how he sees things, rubbing my chin, "The Observants look at time like they are watching a parade: one thing after another, passing by in sequence right in front of them. I see the parade from above—all the twists and turns it might, or might not, take."
"You are correct." Shrieking in surprise, whirling around to see him floating toward me, "Hello, Cecilia. You know me as Clockwork, but my true name in your oldest speaking language is Denbora."
Bowing my head in reply, "Uh, seeing how I ain't a different color as a ghost, but am I dead?"
"Yes, you are dead, but you are in a transition. You are changing; a child is going to be born. He will have a destiny that will change your world, but you will change him for the better after all. He didn't have anyone to help him. Anyone to share the pain, but you can be someone to share the pain. The person that can make him understand what it is like to have powers, and possibly help him learn how to be the hero that he meant to be before the appearance of Dan Phantom appears."
Clear as a bell ringing as he smiles at me as I realize that I was to help Danny, but how can I help Danny, when I would have to be family, before I could say anything to him, "Everything's the way it's supposed to be." Okay, he is a smart alerk, opening my mouth to call him that, when he smiles, "I know, but then…I know everything." Rolling my eyes at him, seeing my hands as I lift them and seeing them begin to fade away, "It's alright. You'll know what to do, and you'll remember everything. I wish you luck. We will meet again, after everything as it meant to be."
Being a teenager is stressful and dealing with teen hormones. I went through puberty once, but this time I am dealing with it all over again. Here is the funny thing, I had died, like literally died, not pretend died, but I was born to a familiar known people. I was born to the Fentons, as in the Danny Phantom cartoon Fentons. I accept as a twin to Danny Fenton, and now I am a halfa just like Danny. It is strange to be on the other side of the screen. Right now, I can't believe this is the start of the world of Danny Phantom, when my Dad, that's is so weird to say, "So, Danny…."
Making me jump in my chair, making Danny snort as I sit on Danny's right side; he is wearing his usual white shirt trimmed in red with a red oval on his chest with matching sneakers and blue jeans. He wears a chain with his wallet tuck into his back pocket; I brought him a blue jean jacket for Christmas after our parents, still strange to say that, forgot to buy him something. He has worn it every day since that Christmas we were left behind at the house, and our parents and Jasmine went to visit family. I sit on our Dad's far-right, then going from my Dad's left to right is me, then Danny, then Sam, who is wearing her usual black and purple tank top that is short exposing her stomach, and then she has her black skirt with green plaid stripes with purple tights and her black boots that is steel toe. The difference is that she is wearing a black lace choker with a white chrysanthemum pendant standing for truth. Tucker is at the end of the row wearing that red hat with his long yellow sleeve shirt, green pants, and military brown boots. He is wearing on his bicep a holder for his PDA, "You and your little friends want to hunt ghosts?"
Damnit, Jasmine owes me big! Clockwork, no Denbora, owes me big, "Dad, I rather do self-defense from ghosts, not hunt them. They were once people too." He raises an eyebrow turning to Danny, basically ignoring me as usual. It is like being a woman is nothing to be proud of, but I keep forgetting that it's a man's world right now. He was like this with Jazz, like it is a firstborn daughter is a bad thing. Danny is the second born, and I was the third born only an hour later. It is like having his firstborn and the third born being girls is a bad thing. Crossing my arms over my chest at his attitude, luckily, Mom took my interest in being a black belt. It was only a black belt. Danny is below me, but we are having a few issues with our new powers right now. Besides, Danny and I are twins, he has the brawn, and I have the brains. It was a balance out between us as Danny did kickboxing while I was the researcher. He and I are a great team, including when we had to deal with Dash.
Danny points a finger as to interrupt him, yeah, right, "Uh, actually, Dad? I want to be an astronaut while Elle wants to be an Oceanographer and a marine biologist." Whirling to look at Danny at him betraying me, where was the sibling code? He looks at me, "Hey if I have to go down, you are going down with me." He whispers to me.
Sam crosses her arms over her chest, "Sorry, Mr. Fenton. I was into ghosts, but they're so mainstream now. They're like cellphones."
Tucker lays his hand on his chest, "Waste these looks and all this charisma hunting ghosts?" He holds out his hands out wide to show himself, "Criminal." Rolling my eyes at the comments, only to know that we were doing this to throw Dad off, but I wish Danny could see that they will always support him. I swear there has to be a girl that can deal with his kind of charisma.
Dad didn't seem to mind as he kept talking, "Well, if you do want to hunt ghosts, there are a few things you need to learn." He turns to a table filled with laboratory equipment and some beakers, hearing them clicking against one another. Looking down at my right hand, where the scar tissue is from the…accident, it is strange to see it while Danny didn't have any hard press scars. He has a light spot that crawls up from the palm of his left hand up to his left shoulder, traveling across his shoulders down his right arm to right hand where he had been holding my hand. I guess because the hazmat suit Danny was wearing protected him, while I was in a cut-up hazmat suit, all because of Paulina. I came home in fingerless gloves; she had cut up the legs into a shredded skirt, which is a joke. I had to put on my high heels boots instead of my tennis shoes.
Seeing a blue mist escaping Danny's mouth, only for me to sharply inhale at the sudden pain in my throat as I breathe out a red haze from my mouth, Danny looks at me, "Oh no." Turning to see the portal door opening, "This isn't good." We both watch as two ectopuses escape from the portal, growling. How in the world does my Dad not hear them? The ghost grabs Sam and Tucker around the face-covering their mouths lifting them out of their chairs.
"True, I've never seen a ghost, but when I do, I'll be prepared." I stand up to be my Dad's side as turning to look at me, "So you want to have more self-defense." Seeing Danny looking alarmed at the ectopuses floating above the floor with Sam and Tucker still in their grasp.
"Yeah, Dad. What if the ghosts come at me when you and Mom are gone? Then what would Danny and I do? Jazz is thinking of college. You know." Shrugging my shoulders, watching Danny getting a determined look on his face seeing that our Dad isn't aware of anything after Sam and Tucker had yelled. Dad is still messing with the various items on the table, seeing him transform and fighting them.
Dad is obviously to it all, "Alright, it starts with your equipment." He holds up the famous Fenton thermos, jumping slightly; an ectopus goes flying with past with Sam, and Tucker flung back into their chairs. Dad goes over to them with the thermos in his hand, "Sam, Tucker, this is the Fenton Thermos." Seriously, I am right here in front of him. He turns back around, "It's supposed to trap ghosts," Watching another ectopus fly past Dad and me, but he doesn't notice. He is supposed to be a ghost hunter; how does he not catch the noise, "But since it doesn't work yet, it's just a thermos." He looks over his shoulder, then back at the lab table, while other ectopuses are thrown past us, "A thermos with the word "Fenton" in front of it." The ectopuses float by the portal, looking dizzy defeated, flying back into the portal. The portal suddenly closes, making me jump at the sound, damnit. I will have to ask Jazz for some help. Dad points to the now shut portal, "And that? This is the Fenton Portal. It releases ghosts into our world whether I want it to or not. And someday, I'll figure out how that," he taps it with his knuckle, "Works too." Walking over to Sam and Tucker is trembling from the fear as I can hear their teeth chattering as he stands in front of Sam and Tucker's chairs, "Now, who wants to hunt some ghosts?"
"Dad, for the last time, I don't want to hunt ghosts." I try to keep myself in Dad's attention as Danny tries to transform, but I am now worried about how I will fight since Danny does most of the fighting. "I want to be able to self-defend myself."
Seeing Danny lean over with a hand on the back of Tucker's chair, panting heavily, raising an eyebrow at him, "You kids, look at you! You're too excited to speak! So, I'll just go on speaking." Dropping both my arms on the back onto their chairs, gently rubbing my thumb in the middle of their backs, still feeling them shaking as my Dad goes on, "I was born many years ago in a log cabin in the woods. I don't exactly remember where, but I do remember I wanted a pony." Seeing out of the corner of my eye, both Sam and Tucker look at Danny, who hangs his head at our Dad continue talking, "Never got the pony. We had to eat horsemeat during the war. I had a problem with that." God, why is he going to go on talking?
(He's a phantom)
(Danny Phantom, Danny Phantom, Danny Phantom)
Young Danny Fenton, he was just 14,
When his parents built a very strange machine.
It was designed to view a world unseen.
(He's gonna catch 'em all 'cause he's Danny Phantom.)
When it didn't quite work, his folks, they just quit,
But then Danny took a look inside of it,
There was a great big flash, everything just changed,
His molecules got all rearranged!
(Phantom, Phantom)
When he first woke up, he realized,
He had snow-white hair and glowin' green eyes.
He could walk through walls, disappear, and fly,
He was much more unique than the other guys.
And it was then that he knew what he had to do,
He had to stop all the ghosts that were comin' through,
He's here to fight for me and you!
He's gonna catch 'em all, 'cause he's Danny Phantom,
Gonna catch 'em all, 'cause he's Danny Phantom,
Gonna catch 'em all, 'cause he's (Danny Phantom.)
Danny Phantom and Elle Phantom starring in 'Mystery Meat' All new! In terrifying meat vison!
It was my turn to do some ghost dealing last night. I am laying my head down on the table, knowing that Mom had pulled her hood up from that horrible blue jumpsuit and started to use her blowtorch on a new invention, I believe it is called the Fenton Finder. I wince at the sparks hitting me, knowing Jazz since I ain't being hit with the sparks lifting my head to see that she had put up a folder. Looking over to see Jazz glances up from her book of 'Surviving Adolescence through Therapy.' She quickly lifts it to block the sparks from the blow torch, surprised at the book not catching on fire, but she is looking at Mom in annoyance. I can't blame her; I mean, I saw the show but living it in real life, laying my head on the side to see Danny looking at me as he is busy eating some cereal. My eyes widen at seeing his hand disappear; he looks down to see that his spoon goes through his intangible hand. Gasping at the sightseeing that it is invisible now, he quickly hides his hand, whispering to me, "Did they see?" I softly shake my head no; it seems that with stress, we are gaining our powers.
Shrieking in surprise at the suddenness, falling to the floor, slamming my chin into the table, I luckily didn't bite my tongue. Feeling pain in the back of my head hit my chair, "Elle!" Danny scoots his chair back, seeing his arm back visible, while Jazz comes around Danny, "Are you alright?"
Touching my chin and head, I think I see stars, but considering what just happened t me. Now I feel like Danny, when he sinks into the floor, "Where's Mom?"
"Elle, are you alright, dear?" Both Jazz and Mom help me standing up, "You put a crack in the chair."
"You sure I don't have a crack in my head." Seriously, you are worried about the chair. Danny holds onto me as he switches out chairs as Mom shuts off her blow torch, "I'm fine, Danny. I just…I think my bottom half went through the chair while my top half was—"
"Okay, two more days, and it's done!" Throwing my hands up, seriously, I fall, and she should be more concerned that I slam my chin into the table.
She turns the stupid blow torch off; suddenly, Dad appears behind her, "What did you say?" He grabs the invention, raising it, "It's done?" Raising an eyebrow at the position of him, holding it dramatically in front of him, "The Fenton Finder is done! This baby uses satellites to lead you right to the ghosts."
It made Danny scared me, I am nervous, but now, "It uses what to track what?"
We both stiffen in our seats at the beeping in the woman's voice, "Welcome to the Fenton Finder. Ghosts are near. Walk forward." Ah, crap. Jazz looks at the thingy, but Danny had stood up alongside my side, but I can see his right arm went invisible again. Oh god. I am backing away with Danny stepping back with me as we walk away from the invention while Dad moves forward, following the voice. Gasping as I bump right into the wall, Danny backs into me, reaching back hanging onto me, "Ghosts located. Thank you for using the Fenton Finder."
"What? That can't be right." Jumping at both Danny and me, both turn invisible. Looking down at us, crap, crap, there are two of us, not one. We quickly return to normal, then gives them a look of defeat. Luckily both Dad and Mom were looking at each other in surprise.
"Actually…I need to tell you guys something." Elbowing him in the side, he looks at me as I know it would take a while, or it is mostly not the time to say anything.
Jazz closes her book, "That's not all you need, Danny." She walks over to where we are backed up against the wall, "You need guidance and parents who can provide it."
Mom tried to talk some sense into Jazz, "Sweetie, I know what we do doesn't make sense sometimes, but you're only—"
Jazz makes a stand, "Sixteen. Biologically!" Staying in place, knowing that Jazz will yank us back if we move while she is trying to pull us close to her when she went on a rant, watching Danny back out of the room, or try to, "But psychologically, I'm an adult! And I will not allow your insane obsession with ghosts," Seeing that Danny got caught in her trap hug, "to pollute the mind of this impressionable little child!" Yelping at the sudden hug, "And this precious child too!" Pulling myself out of the tight hug, falling on the floor, wincing at the hard thud, seeing Danny looking down at me, who seems a little weirded out by this conversation, "Come, you abused, unwanted wretches. I'll drive you both to school." She glares at our parents before walking away with her arms still around Danny.
I am hearing my Mom speak, "Huh. That's weird. Jasmine never offers to drive Danny and Elle to school.
My ears catch my Dad speaking, "That can only mean one thing. That's not our daughter; that's a ghost." Hearing him running, great, "Danny, no! It's a trap. Elle! Get away from the ghost."
Leaning my head against the seat as Jazz drives us to school, "Hey, Jazz?" She peeks into the rearview mirror, "Do you think with the way our parents are? Since you are driving us, they are going to think you are a ghost."
She hums, "No. There is no way that they would think I am a ghost. I am human. I am going to prove to you, besides…Mom should have been more worried about you when you hit your chin with the table."
Walking with Danny and the gang as those who were my friends like Paulina and Star, but after middle school, I couldn't handle it and tear them down when they were jerks to my twin. I follow behind Sam, who follows Danny, who is following after Tucker as we climb a flight of stairs, "I think I should tell them, what do you think, Elle?"
Tucker and Danny had stopped at the landing while Sam climbed up the stairs, "Why? Parents don't listen." I move around her, ducking under her swinging arms, "Even worse, they don't understand!" Throwing her head back, yelling to the roof, "WHY CAN'T THEY ACCEPT ME FOR WHO I AM?" Her yelling startles me, making me fall as I trip over one of my intangible legs; looking over my shoulder to glare at Sam, she nervously chuckles, "Oops, sorry. I forgot about the increased hearing that you got."
Danny comes up to help me as he turns to look at her, "Sam, I-I'm talking about my powers, my problems?"
Sam is so embarrassed, as we all know, about the problems she has with her family, "Oh, right. Me too."
Smiling as my leg goes tangible, saying in a sing-song voice, "Sam's in denial." She shoves at me, making Danny snicker behind his hand, raising my eyebrow at her, "Parents ain't accepting that this little princess is wearing black again."
Sam crosses her arms over her chest, shrugging her shoulders, while Danny looks at me, "Elle, it's been a month since the accident, and I still have barely any control, and you are no better. If somebody catches me," Watching him starting to sink through the floor, "I go from geek to freak around here!"
Bending at the waist to hook under his arms, Tucker said, "Kinda like what you're doing right now?" Luckily, I have a long skirt in the back and short in the front; my ankle-high heels boots give me a bit of a height over Danny.
Danny yelps realizing why I was hanging onto him, as Sam and Tucker pull him back up, dusting off my skirt, "Gah, darn it! If my Dad can invent something," Following after him with Sam and Tucker behind us, "that accidentally made me half-ghost, why can't he invent something that turns me back to normal?" We both turn intangible walking through a snack machine; he does it without paying attention while grabbing a snack or two as I follow after him.
Sam runs in front of us, both of us return to normal, but it has been a couple of nights. I have a bit more practice, but it is taking time along with mediation, so maybe Danny can do it too to handle the sudden moments, "Danny, your powers make you and Elle unique. Unique is good! You have seen how Elle is good with children without trying, and then you are good with your parent's inventions by understanding them. Besides, that's why I'm an ultra-recycle-vegetarian." Slapping my forehead while handing Tucker a bag of jerky and putting a bag of chips in Danny's back by going intangible for a second. Passing a bag of chips to Sam, the one she likes, so she doesn't throw a fit about them.
Tucker walks up behind Danny, as Danny has his hands tucked in his blue jean jacket, while Tucker has a white winter vest that I had gotten for his thirteenth birthday, "Which means what?"
Danny turns to him, "She doesn't eat anything with a face on it."
"The perfect examples are grains, pulses, legumes, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits, fungi, algae, yeast, and (or) some other non-animal-based foods like salt, so no dairy products, honey, or eggs. It is a plant-based diet."
Tucker rolls his eyes, "Oh, who cares about that stuff?" He taps his thumb on his chest, "Danny, two words: meat connoisseur." He starts sniffing around Danny, "Last night, you had Sloppy Joes."
Danny smiles, "Impressive."
He starts sniffing at me, leaning my head back, only for him to blink, "You had chopped ham, bacon pieces, chopped bell peppers, mild cheese, lettuce, and Catalina ranch. Wow, nice salad." Raising an eyebrow and looking at Danny, who is snickering, he leans back, "I was right, wasn't I?" Rolling my eyes at that, as he smiles, "Meat heightens the senses, and my all-meat streak is fourteen years strong."
"…And it's about to end. The school board finally agreed to try a new cafeteria menu." Oh, god. This is the start of a war between these two. Face palming hard at this. "I wore them down."
Danny pulls me back as Tucker looks pissed, "Wait…What did you do?"
It is finally lunchtime, standing in the line seeing a big banner over the lunch line saying, "Ultra Recyclo-Vegetarian." Seeing the lunch lady give what looks like literal grass on bread. Grass on a piece of bread. As I feel my lip curling upward on one side like an animal growling at something, Danny looks at me. Danny looks at the grass, "What is this? Grass on the bun?"
Tucker is dramatic to Sam, "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!"
Sam smiles, "Tucker, it's time for a change." Holding up the grass on a bun in her hand, when it was my turn, I just walked out of line, "Elle!"
Turning to her as she had run up behind me, "Sam, you won't get people to think your ways. You should have started with more fruit. The true vegetarian way." I am about walk out the door, when only for me to sharply inhale at the sudden pain in my throat as I breathe out a red mist from my mouth, grabbing my throat, seeing the red mists escape. I turn to Danny to still see him looking at the tables at where to sit. So, what just happened? Looking around, I begin to look around, "Sam, I don't think someone is not very happy that you changed the menu."
"How can you tell?" She puts her hands on her hips, "Was it your ghost senses tingly?"
Rubbing my sore throat, standing tall, "'Ooh! Somebody changed the menu!' That was what came to my mind when my ghost sense went off, so that means something is about to happen." Walking back over to Danny, as he lifts grass on a bun on a spoon, I can see that he is debating on whether it eat it or not. I am not eating it. It looks like I am going to starve this week again, setting my head on my hand, cupping my chin, "I ain't eating that."
Danny looks up at Sam, "Don't you think this is a little extreme, Sam?"
Sam smiles at him before I see Mr. Lancer puts a hand on her shoulder, "Ah, Miss Manson. The school board wanted me to personally thank you for ushering in this welcome experiment to our cafeteria."
Tucker begins to sniff like a bloodhound, "Meat. Near."
It was weird as I watched Tucker looking up at Mr. Lancer, sniffing at the man up close when Tucker glares at him as Mr. Lancer backs away from Tucker. Raising my eyebrows, "Now that is interesting. How sharp is Tucker's nose? I can smell steak from his breath." Danny snickers as Mr. Lancer looks nervous as I whisper to Danny, "This puts a bloodhound to shame."
"No, no. The rumors about the new all-steak buffet in the teacher's lounge are completely untrue." Seeing him pull out a toothpick and uses it in his teeth, disgusting, shuddering as he puts a hand on Sam's shoulder, "Thanks again."
Tucker glares at her, "Yeah, thanks again for making us eat garbage, Sam."
"I usually don't agree with Tucker on a few things," Tucker scoffs at me, raising my hand before he can argue with me, "This time, I will agree with him. It's garbage."
Sam scoffs, "It's not garbage." Lifting the grass on a bun, leaning away from her, lifting it, "It's recyclable organic matter."
"It's garbage." The three of us say it to her with a stare. I don't want to eat grass. I did that in my previous life enough. I look toward the lunch lady behind the counter to see her give a shifty-eyed glance around, seeing her pull a hamburger out of her pocket and walking away. When I see something that makes me stiffen in seeing a ghost of a Lunch Lady come down, shifting to look through the window to see her look at a book. Uh, oh, it's the book I know to be the Ultra Recyclo Veggie Lunch Menu cookbook. Sam showed it to me the other day, seeing her glare at it, turning to look at Danny, who is still holding the spoonful of grass on a bun. My throat begins to burn, releasing a column of red smoke while Danny breaths out a stream of blue mist.
Danny looks at me, then at Sam and Tucker, "Uh, guys? I've got a problem—" A handful of mud hits the side of his head, when some of it hits me in the face, shrieking in shock, both Danny and I call out, "UGH!" I shout in surprise.
I slam my palms against the table, standing up to see Dash walking over, "Fenton!"
Danny groans, "Make that two problems."
"Three." Growling out as I stand up out of the way seeing Dash Baxter, one of our stupid high football jocks, seeing a plate that is full of mud in his hands. He was so angry that he didn't notice me standing up, but everyone else did and backed away.
Dash angrily speaks to Danny, "I ordered three mud pies. Do you know what they gave me? Three mud pies. With mud. From the ground! All because of your girlfriend!"
My foot goes intangible, sinking through the floor releasing a scream, "She's/I'm not my/his girlfriend!" Tucker reaches over to pull me up as I pull out the plop of mud, gasping at seeing the amount in my hand. I am watching as Dash grabs Danny by his shirt, hauling him up a few inches off the ground.
"These are the best years of my life! After high school, it's all downhill for me! How am I supposed to enjoy my glory days eating mud?!" Rubbing the bridge of my nose as I duck down under the table, picking up some mud, standing up to walk to the other side of the table.
Sam replies, "Actually, it's topsoil."
Whirling around to glare at her, "Not helping, Sam."
Jumping in surprise at Danny hitting the table, turning to see Dash frowning, "Whatever!" Danny had landed on the bench with Dash walking over to shove the plate of mud toward his face, "Eat it. All of it."
Danny looks at me and then the plate, "Uh…uh…." In a quick session, he grabs the plate; as I hold two mud pies, we both yell; the plate hits Dash's face as I launch mud pies at Star and Paulina, "GARBAGE FIGHT!" Ducking under the table as other students start throwing food, making chaos happens. Sam peeks out from behind a table.
"It's not garbage! It's—" Both Danny and I grab her shirt, yanking her back down toward the floor when we showed Sam our red and blue breath. She nods as we begin crawling through the crowd, "Never mind, we'll continue this later."
Danny turns as I see Paulina is looking around while Star is trying to get the mud out of her hair, "You're gonna pay for this, Fenton!"
Watching him get hit with mud twice, snickering at this, but Paulina throws her head back, mud caking her hair, "Danielle Fenton! When I get my hands on you, you won't have that pretty face!" A handful of mud slams into her face making her fall into the crowd.
Danny and I look at one another and start crawling away, "Great. I'm still their favorite." We fist bump one another, crawling catching up with Sam and Tucker, who are peeking their heads around the door to see…the Lunch Lady. She reminded me of one of my favorite lunch ladies when I was in high school.
Tucker raises an eyebrow, "Huh. Shouldn't be so bad. She looks a little like my grandmother."
"You mean your grandma is a ghost." He sticks his tongue out at me, "I'm sorry, you know what I mean. Your grandma is a sweet lady."
Danny and I come into the room, "Shouldn't she be haunting a bingo hall?"
I close the door behind the trio when the ghost turns around at the sound of me closing the door, "Hello, children. Today's lunch is meatloaf, but I don't see the meatloaf. Can you help me? Did someone change the menu?"
Slapping my hand over Tucker's mouth, "They are going to change the menu back the way it was after an experiment of doing the ultra-Recyclo-vegetarian idea that a student suggested." She tilts her head as I take my hand off from the suffering Tucker, who is gasping for air as I walk to her, "Listen, I don't think it is fair to you lunch ladies. You spend a lot of time cooking, standing on your feet, and washing dishes. I have done volunteer work to help with the lunch ladies here at the school. The students here don't apprentice what you do, but I do."
"Thank you, dearie. Would you like some cake?" She holds out a platter of chocolate cake, taking a small slice from her. She smiles as I happily eat it, handing her back the empty plate, "I'm glad you enjoy the cake, dearie."
"Yeah." Tucker throws his thumb over his shoulder as he surprises Sam, "She changed the menu."
The Lunch Lady moves me out of the way, sticking me to the wall while I have a plate of chocolate cake in my hand. Blinking in surprise, then watching her transform with her hair flailing around her on fire, creating the illusion of horns because of her hairnet on her head, her eyes flashing red, with green flames starting to surround her, "YOU CHANGED THE MENU?!" Seeing the trio gasp as I had finished the cake so that I could toss it in the wash water, "THE MENU HAS BEEN THE SAME FOR FIFTY YEARS!"
Danny yells over the noise, "Get behind me!" Sam and Tucker promptly jump behind him.
Sam looks bored, "Wow. I feel safe." Hearing the sarcasm in her voice.
Both of us yell, "I'm going, ghost!" Feeling the change goes through us both, feeling the natural energy in the air, he still has his standard hazmat suit, while I go intangible through her binds, landing in the wedge boots that come up to my knees. A skirt that comes down to my upper thighs, while I was wearing a halter top that wraps in the front but is low in the back. My left arm was a fingerless glove that comes up to my bicep, while the right arm barely reveals the scar-like black vines from the palm of my hand traveling up my arm across my upper back and upper chest stopping at my heart on both sides. We both float up toward the pissed-off Lunch Lady, "I command you to…go away!" Face palming hard, making Danny look at me, "Wrong thing to say, isn't it?" He turns intangible just in time as piles of dishes pass right through him. The dishes hit the wall and flew out of the way to catch the dishes heading toward Sam.
Looking at the Lunch Lady, "Stop! We don't want to harm you. We are just protecting our friends." She flings a refrigerator at me, slamming into the wall, only to go intangible, flying back into the kitchen to see Danny.
Seeing Danny catches dishes heading toward Tucker, seeing the guy wincing only to stop seeing Danny had stopped the plates smiling at him. Danny flies to return the plates on the counter, following after him with my dishes seeing that he has a few dishes in his mouth. He removes them, seeing how shiny they are as they reveal his reflection to him, "Well if this superhero thing doesn't work out, I can have an exciting career as a busboy."
I look back behind us to see the stoves beginning to move around, more like starting to rattle heavily. Seeing Danny as the Lunch Lady hollers, "I control lunch! Lunch is sacred! Lunch has rules!" Suddenly she returns to her calm state, into the sweet lady I was talking to earlier, "Anybody want cake?" She holds up a slice of cake, handing it to me, while Sam and Tucker nod their heads, but she gets that pissed-off look at them, "Too bad! Children who change my menu do not get dessert!" Watching her phase up through the ceiling, I quickly eat the cake; I may be fighting against a ghost, but I will not be rude to her.
Danny and I watch as flames discharge green flames. Oh, boy. The green flames launch out of the oven toward Sam and Tucker. Thank you, Clockwork. They were able to dodge the fire. Seeing Danny avoid out of the way only for me to lean back like a shot of flames come at me. Flying toward Sam and Tucker, along with Danny, he grabs Tucker while I grab Sam. We all go intangible, catching her as Danny holds Tucker. We all fly through the kitchen wall. Once we are out of the kitchen inside the hallway, we turn intangibles looking back in shock at seeing the wall's cracks. Oh, wow. Property damage, lovely.
Danny wraps his arms around me, shaking me back and forth, "Hey! It worked!"
Sam, irritated, growls, "This is the thanks I get or thinking like an individual?"
"No! It's for trying to make others think like you. Everyone has a right to be themselves. She has a right to be angry." A loud crash makes me grab my head, seeing Danny and Tucker turn to look for the reason. Gasping at seeing the hallway violently shaking, and then the lights go out. Danny backs away with me as Sam and Tucker follow, watching as two lockers open, seeing school supplies begin to fly out. Grabbing Sam as a locker opens right beside her, soon many lockers start the same as the first two. The school supplies start to fly to Lunch Lady, swirling around her like a tornado, then behind her. Tucker's eyes widen, making me groan as he sniffs the air, only to duck as various meat products fly over my head and past him, "Steak…! Rib-eye…! No, porterhouse! Medium-rare!" Oh, crap. She turns into a meat monster; it covers her until her red eyes become green eyes are showing, "But where did it come from?" Turning to look behind him, seeing his glare, I turn to look to see that it had come out of the teacher's lounge, "Lancer!"
She towers over us, "Prepare to learn why meat is the most powerful of the five food groups!" Suddenly her rage is gone, and she goes back to the innocent lunch lady mode holding up a cookie, politely asking, "Cookie?" As I nod, Sam shakes her head, and she is surprised by Sam's answer, giving me the cookie, "Here's a cookie." Turning on Sam, she reverts to evil lunch lady mode, "Then perish!"
Danny slides in front of Sam, pointing to Lunch Lady, "Forget it! The only thing that has an expiration date here is you!" He points to the Lunch Lady only to see his hand frizzle watching the power transform down to being human, "Whoops! I didn't mean to do that."
"Danny! This is not the time for powers to malfunction." Only for me to fall on the ground seeing that I had changed too, "Never mind, I turned into a hypocrite myself." Shrieking in shock at seeing Danny go flying from Lunch Lady's throw, seeing that he flies into Tucker, "Danny!" Seeing them hit the lockers behind them and watching papers cover them up. Yelping at the weightlessness, seeing that the Lunch Lady had grabbed Sam flying down a hallway, "Whoa and me! Where are we going?" As she had caught me around the waist taking me too, "This is going to be insane!"
The Lunch Lady transforms back as she hands me a slice of ham, "Here you go, dearie. You need some meat on those bones. No one likes a thin girl."
Sam gags as I bite into the ham, "Sorry, Sam. But I haven't had a good meal with my Mom cooking with ecto-flour again this week. It poisoned me. So, no food at home."
The Lunch Lady turns to me, "Lunchtime is the only time you get a proper meal, dearie."
"Yes, ma'am." She floats away, then comes back with a plate, "Thank you, Miss."
"You are such a polite thing." She pats my head with softness like that of a grandmother, "I notice that young boy sniffing knows his meat, please give them to him." I nod as I wink at Sam; she nods as I transform into my ghost form floating up to Mr. Lancer's office to see Mr. Lancer, Dash covered in mud, and Danny and Tucker sitting in chairs in front of the desk.
Standing in the room, I see Dash leaning against the wall looking proud, of course, big baby, I swear. I was intangible and invisible; Tucker started sniffing around as I placed a box of meat on his lap. He quickly inhales when Dash looks over while I fly over to tie his shoelaces together. Seeing Mr. Lancer pull out a file and start reading it out loud, "Tucker Foley. Chronic tardiness, talking in class, repeated loitering by the girl's locker," Seeing Tucker smiles slyly, popping him softly on the head making his beret go forward, he nudges it back, glancing over his shoulder.
In contrast, my brother glances over his shoulder only to look forward when Mr. Lancer begins speaking to him, walking back to his desk to sit down, "Danny Fenton. Thirty-four dropped beakers in the last month; luckily, your sister caught them. Banned for life from handling all fragile school property, but no severe mischief before today. So, gentlemen, tell me…." Oh, this is going to be loud, as he slams file on the desk, angrily yells at them, "WHY DID THE TWO OF YOU CONSPIRE TO DESTROY THE SCHOOL'S CAFETERIA?!"
Danny tries to defend himself as I take some of the mud out of my hair, waiting for the moment, listening to the noise, "Dash started it! He threw—"
Rolling my eyes floating above them as I see Dash being smug, "Four touchdown passes in the last game is thereby exempt for scorn. You two, however, are not. I'll map out your punishment when I return." Danny and Tucker look at one another, seeing him standing in the office doorway, "Mr. Baxter, watch the door." I am at ceiling height; I drop the mud, making him scream in angry.
Returning tangible floating in front of the standing boys, "Hi, guys."
Tucker grabs me, nearly shaking me in fear, "We gotta find Sam. For some reason, I feel like I got her kidnapped."
Danny pulls me back, hugging me, returning the hug; we turn to Tucker, "Maybe because you told the ghost she changed the menu? How about that? Elle was making progress with the ghost before you said something."
Tucker sighs, "Yeah. I should have kept my mouth shut." Suddenly he starts sniffing, "That steak is still in the building. Two hundred yards tops."
Flying over to the wall of TVs showing the different security camera views of the school, "Seriously, with all this recording, how can they not tell that you are being bullied?" Danny pulls me down as I float upward, "Whoops, the wrong way. I wasn't even paying attention when she let me go."
Seeing a trail of meat juice in front of boxes leading off the screen, "Check it out." Pointing to the screen, "Meat trail."
"Hey! That's where she was holding both me and Sam." Danny transforms, grabbing my foot and Tucker's arm, turning us both intangible, phasing us both through the floor, "Danny!"
"Whoa!" Hearing Tucker yelling since he wasn't ready for it like I was. It is a Fenton thing that we would grab each other when one would go flying, like when we were babies. Dad would lift me, and Danny would hold onto my ankle. It is normal when Mom would grab Danny; I would grab his ankle. They think it is a twin thing.
Lifting my head to see Mr. Lancer walking into the room, "Gentlemen, your punishment will be—" Only to hear the angry voice through the ceiling as we are going down, "WORSE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE!"
Shrieking at the sudden stop, Danny and Tucker enter the meat storage room that we had seen from the security footage, "Mr. Lancer isn't very happy about you guys disappearing."
Stepping behind Danny to see him looking at Tucker with the look of how we friends are. I blink in surprise at Tucker's behavior, "Sweet mother of mutton!" Hugging a box of meat, looking at Danny, he shrugs his shoulders, "I'd dreamed of it, but…I never thought I'd live to see it!"
"How is it that I have the ghost powers, and you're the weird kid?" We peer around the corner of a stack of boxes to see Lunch Lady floating in front of Sam. Elbowing him in the side, only to jump at the cackling, well, Lunch Lady must be trying to get Sam to eat meat. Wow, karma bite her in the butt as The Lunch Lady traps her in a neck-deep pile of meat.
"My dear child… Meat is good for kids! It helps them grow and makes them smile! Why don't you eat it?" She tries again, "You can take lessons from the young lady that was here earlier."
"We don't need meat. That's a fact!" Motioning in front of Danny, I walk in front of them, walking to see Sam looking at me, "Elle, what are you doing here?"
"Getting rid of the nonsense that you can change a person." Bowing my head to the Lunch Lady, "Sam, lunch ladies have a duty to us, students, to feed us what they cook." Rubbing my forehead, as I see the Lunch Lady smiling down at me, "She knows these recipes as they have been for the last—" Looking up at her, "Fifty years, ma'am?" She nods at me, "Sam, they have always used the freshest ingredients for cooking for students."
Sam glares at me, "That is something I will not accept." Turning her nose up my words, fisting my hands tight, "These are made from animals." I GET THAT!
"SILENCE!" The wind throws me back, seeing her point to Sam, "You need discipline, manners, and respect! Do you know where that comes from? Meat!" I land on the floor after hitting some boxes, hearing her revert back to the lovely Lunch Lady, "Are you alright, dearie?" Nodding my head as I see Danny look at me, seeing her turn back around to Sam, shrugging my shoulders as I fly over to them, hearing her say, "Chicken or fish?"
Rubbing my head as I know that had to be meat with a bone in it, Danny looks down at me, "You alright?" Nodding as I stood up, I was not ready for that wind to burst from her; Danny turned to Tucker and me, "I'll take care of the ghost. You both find a way to get Sam out of that pile of meat."
He holds up a fork and knife, "Waaaay ahead of you."
"You eat meat. I'll try to get her out of the meat. Hoping my powers will work for me." Danny flies over my head, launching toward Lunch Lady; she was surprised by the punch to the face. She slams into the wall, seeing Danny land in front of her and seeing her glare at him. I fly over to Sam, who is watching Tucker cut into some meat, "I'll have you free in no time, Sam!"
"You've gotta be kidding me." Sam frowns in debrief; when I fly over her, she nervously grins, "Uh, I guess we are in a draw."
Turning her intangible after seeing Tucker eating a streak, "Sam, I know you want to do good for the planet, but would you go after a tiger who hunts after a deer in the jungle."
"No. It's a natural way." She looks at Tucker as I can see the determination, "But people are destroying the Earth. They should be eating what nature provides for them."
Sighing at her stubbornness, only to fly back as the meat swirl around the Lunch Lady, looking back at Sam, "You can't change people's minds; the Lunch Lady knows the menu over fifty years. She is angry that her hard work at making meals for students has been the ruin. Think of it from her point of view," Turning them tangible as more food flies over us, the wind drowning me out, "She isn't angry at you, but the way you have changed something that has been a normal thing for her."
Seeing Tucker striking a determined pose with a fork and knife handy, "Help's on the way, buddy!" Watching Danny get thrown, he yells, turning intangible flying through the wall, shit. She looms over Sam and Tucker, flying in front of them, touching her shoulder, hearing Tucker, "Run?"
"Run," Sam mutters to him.
Sam and Tucker run off as I look at her green eyes; tears flow down my face, "A student poisoned your food, killing you. They changed the menu on you." Shrieking in surprise at her throwing me toward Sam and Tucker, seeing the exit block. Grabbing Sam as Danny flies next to me with Tucker turning intangible, we pass through the wall. We land outside, turning back tangible landing on the school grounds. Danny is panting as Sam turns to Danny, "Gee, Danny. Fighting meat monsters, flying through walls…You must be exhausted."
Danny glares at her, "What? Of course not! What would give you that idea?" He trails off defensively, only for him and Tucker to fall to the ground watching as Danny passes out from exhaustion. He returns to his human form, seeing Tucker look at Sam and me are still in the air.
I land on the ground letting go of Sam, "Great! Do you think you all can carry him while I distract my parents? I'll make up some excuse."
They nod as I fly toward home, landing in the alley, looking around the corner to see Jazz walking up the front steps, waiting for when I can go in, only to hear Jazz calling out puzzled, "Mom? Dad?" Watching her step into the house, knowing what was going to happen next, the door suddenly slams closed behind her. Oh, my shoulders slumping down, the parents think she is a ghost. I forgot about this part of the episode, hearing sizzling, making my ears perk at the sound. Oh yeah, I forgot about the smoke bombs.
Walking up the steps, "Now, Maddie! Hit her! I'm moving in!" Hearing Jazz shrieks, "Get my back!" Opening the door, waving my hand in front of my face clearing the smoke, only to see on irritated Jazz with her arms crossed over her chest. Only to see our parents are on the floor with their hands latch around her ankles. Looking to see part of her hair is attached with the Fenton Xtractor sucking her hair, Dad sees me, "Hey! Elle, welcome back!" He and Mom let go of Jazz's feet; she walks off a bit with the Xtractor still in her hair.
"Uh, Jazz? Are you trying a new hairstyle?" Wow, that vacuum is stuck well on her hair, well, she does have long hair, but I rather not have my hair since my hair is longer than hers.
She turns to me, "This is all going in the memoir."
I was looking at my parents, who finally got off the ground, "Hey, Mom. Dad. Danny passed out from sweeping up some mess that happened in the cafeteria. We had to sweep and mop the mess up, and even I am tired." The front door opens to reveal Sam and Tucker carrying Danny, who is still knocked out. Crap.
Tucker smiles, "Hey, Mr. and Mrs. Fenton! What a school day! Poor Danny nodded off. We figured we'd just carry him all the way home and tuck him into bed," Watching them carry Danny upstairs, "Without any parental interaction whatsoever."
Sam yells out, "Don't get up! We know where to go. Bye!"
Slapping my forehead, Mom walks over, pulling some dried mud out of my hair, "What happened today?"
"Dash tried to shove three real mud pie into Danny's face, so we started a mud fight—" Dad pats me on the head as I begin walking upstairs, "I will see you all at dinner."
"Have a good night, Elle." Listening to Mom and Dad as I listen to Dad humming, "Hmmmmm…."
"Jack, Neither Danny nor Elle is not a ghost." Hearing my Mom explain to my Dad as I quickly jogged up the stairs stopping around the corner, wondering what they were thinking.
Peeking Around the corner to see Dad looking into the hallway, which I know where Jazz is, "You're right." Knowing that Jazz is trying to get her hair out of the vacuum, "Jazz is." I warned Jazz, but does she ever listen to me.
Disappearing away, knowing that they will be on watch with Jazz, opening the door to see Danny sleeping, he slams upward with a yelp, "Ah! Aha! Wha? What's going on?"
I am behind my two friends as Danny looks at them, not seeing me; Tucker and Sam are looking down at him. Tucker is the first one to speak, "You passed out. We took you home. You've been asleep for four days!" Danny sits up in the bed looking at me, then at Tucker and Sam.
Tucker chuckles Danny's scream, "Four days!"
"Na, it's only been a couple of hours." He waves off the joke as I rub my temples. Is it possible for half-ghost to get headaches because I swear I am getting one from Tucker's craziness?
"Knock it off, Tucker." Rubbing the bridge of my nose, watching Danny slam back onto the bed at the volume that Sam hollers, "This is the second time today; your carelessness almost got him killed."
"Me? I almost got him killed?" Tucker points himself with his thumb, nearly getting into Sam's face, while watching Sam put her hands on her hips, glaring at him, "The only reason this happened is because you had to be unique. You had to take the meat away!" Sam crosses her arms and turns away from him. Watching him storm off to the door, "And I'm going to get it back!"
Wincing at the volume of the angry in Sam's voice, "You want to change that menu back?" She goes to the door too, "YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH ME TO DO IT!" She leaves, slamming the door closed with the frames on the wall rattle heavily.
Danny looks at me, sitting up looking at the door, then back at me, "Oh well. I'm sure everything will be back to normal by tomorrow."
Sitting on the bed, "Two weeks' worth of allowance to say that they make this a big thing to do and they will get the school involved."
"Three weeks' worth of allowance, plus I cook those weeks when we aren't fighting ghosts." We shake on it, getting ready for bed, climbing up on the bottom bunk, while Danny climbs up the top bunk so he can look through the window to see the stars as I turn on the lamp that allows me to have my ocean at the bottom of the room, and the top of the room can be a solar system. The following day Danny and I are walking toward the school, seeing the disbelief, "Or not. Maybe it'll be worse."
Danny grabs me, making me yelp in surprise, nearly tripping over in my black wedges. We both look to see a bunch of meat lovers decked out in meat merchandise. Today was black jeans with a blue blouse long on the right side, while the other is sleeveless with silver bangles on my wrist. My left wrist is pulled only for Danny to stop seeing that some girls dance in hot dog outfits on a stage. The girls dance offstage only to have Tucker appearing, carrying a microphone in his hand, shouting into the mic, "What do we want?"
We see a group of people, "MEAT!"
Back forth between Tucker and the group, "When do we want it?"
"Now!"
We took over to see on the other side of the protest. It is like a scene from the 1970s; it is a vegetarian equivalent of the meat protest side because it is full of hippies, laid-back people, and…goths. I begin tapping on Danny's shoulder, pointing to Sam standing on top of the school bus and yelling into a microphone while holding up a sign that said, Now.
"VEGGIES NOW! VEGGIES FOREVER! VEGGIES NOW! VEGGIES FOREVER!" She spots us getting off her platform.
Sam and Tucker are opposites sides of us, glaring at each other; Danny and I speak, "You guys put together two protests in one night?"
"Meat-eaters, Danny. Always ready to fight. And our high-protein diets give us the energy we need to do it quickly."
"Ultra recycle-vegetarians are always ready to protest. And because we don't have to waste time cooking our food, we can move even faster."
"Don't you guys think this a little extreme?"
"No choice, buddy. You're either with me!"
"Or you're against him!"
Ducking down a bit behind Danny as Sam and Tucker lean over us, "So whose side are you guys on?"
I was blinking at the surround sound, feeling the burning sensation, gasping at the stream of red. My hair starts flying up, seeing the sky turn gray. Danny grabs onto me as the noise of cackling is loud. Danny's ghost senses go off. Danny and I look at one another as the crowd is bewildered and confused, but the four of us know the real culprit. Watching meat fly through the air in various directions. Only to see that meat swirling like an upheaving tower to form a gigantic version of the meat monster that the Lunch Lady had the previous day, hearing her shout, "It's lunchtime!" Wow, watching both groups of protesters run away while screaming in terror.
Only to watch Tucker cover his face, "Meat! Why have you betrayed me?!" Seriously, Lunch Lady has an advantage with all that meat, so in a way, it was his fault. My eye is twitching horribly, jumping at Danny's hand on my shoulder; he shakes his head, not the time to chew Tucker out. Nodding in agreement, got it.
"Guys, time to makeup. Now!" Sam and Tucker hug Danny and me in the middle, transforming beneath their cover. Breaking apart, we reveal ourselves, Phantom and Lady Phantom, flying into action. I spot Mom and Dad; oh great. He nods at dealing with the food monster as I pass to deal with our parents.
Landing on the roof listening to Jazz talking to one of the goths, Spike, who was sitting on a table, "It's not like they're gonna attack you or anything—." A green net suddenly captures Jazz, hearing her yelling in surprise only for Spike to watch her get dragged toward some bushes only to see that it is Dad reeling in the net like a fishing line. Hunkering down, so they don't see me as I hear Dad yelling, "I've got her!" Seeing Mom poking herself out of the bushes only to have Dad look at her, "And the Fenton Grappler is working like a charm!"
Mom looks at him, "I don't understand. If Jazz is a ghost, why isn't she passed through the net?"
Watching the conversation between Mom, Dad, and Jazz, when I hear hollering to see Danny intangible flying toward him, groaning, I glide toward the Lunch Lady, "Miss?" Ducking under a giant arm, "Whoa!" She stops, handing me a small plate of a ham sandwich, "Cold ham sandwich, dearie?"
"Yes, please." She hands me the sandwich, eating it when Danny slams into the ghost sending meat flying everywhere. Luckily, I had turn intangible, swallowing the last piece of the sandwich—seeing Danny struggling weakly pull himself out of the crater flying to his side, turning tangible, pulling him out of the hole seeing the Lunch Lady standing before us, "Oh, dear! What a mess! Are you okay?"
Danny rubs and rotates his left arm, "Yeah. I think so."
She has a smile on her face, then transforms into the evil lunch lady, "TOUGH! BECAUSE YOU BEING OKAY IS NOT PART OF MY BALANCED DIET OF DOOM!"
Shrieking as she grabs me as meat suddenly jumps out of the crater, similar to water splashing onto the land to form five small piles of meat in front of Danny, only to watch them turn into meat monsters, gasping, "That is so cool and very crafty."
He flies away with a few meat monsters jumping after him. Watching Danny do a flying kick slicing through the little monsters landing on the ground, digging his foot in a semi-circle. Gasping as the little meat monsters reforming themselves, Danny looks at them, "Wasn't expecting that." Suddenly he turns human again, "Or that." Screaming in fright, I pull at the Lunch Lady's stronghold on me to watch the meat monster grab Danny. They fly up with him seeing him trying to fight them off. Gasping at seeing two of those monsters let go of him while three of them dangle him upside down by his legs. Hearing Danny yells, "Elle!"
"You are to be the Empress of the Infinite Realms." Turning to the Lunch Lady, she looks at me with eyes that spoke wisdom; lower myself and her to the ground, she looks at me, "Prophecy foretold that a child would be reborn again into a human life instead of being a ghost. Only the pure of heart may be reborn; who did you sacrifice yourself for?" Wait, that wasn't in the original series, "A human soul reborn in front of the Time Master is to be the Empress of the Infinite Realms will go through trials that will test herself against Death."
"I used myself as a human shield to shield a little girl to shield her from poison bullets. She was an innocent little girl." The tears run down my face, remembering that blonde-headed hair, "Flower, gleam and glow…Let your power shine…Make the clock reverse…Bring back what once was mine…Heal what has been hurt…Change the fates' design…Save what has been lost…Bring back what once was mine…What once was mine" Feeling something change, she gasps as I feel normal, well, still a ghost—hearing my Dad holler, "HA! Ghost kid! I was right!" He sings in a sing-song voice, "You were wrong! Ghosts exist!" Hearing him joyfully laugh, "I never doubted for a second!"
She releases me when Danny phases out from the ground with the Fenton Thermos in his hands; she angrily shouts, "NO! Soup's not on today's menu!"
Flying to Danny's side, "I'm changing the menu permanently!" He grabs the top of the thermos, whispering to me, "I hope this works." Pulling the lid off of the thermos, aiming it toward the Lunch Lady, "I hope I'm right!" A blue and red aura surrounds us and the thermos as I hold his shoulders, giving him my energy, seeing it powering up the thermos, and seeing it releasing a stream of energy. Witnessing the energy form a net surrounding the surprised Lunch Lady.
Watching her struggle against the net, "NOOOO!"
The energy swirls around like a funnel sucking Lunch Lady into the thermos as Danny and I turn back human, putting the lid back on the thermos. He smiles at me as I smile back at him, walking over to Sam and Tucker, who is peeking out from underneath a protest balloon where they are trapped. Danny helps Sam up while I lift the balloon to allow Tucker to crawl out.
Sam looks around, "What happened? Where's the ghost?"
Danny and I look down at the thermos smiling, "Our parents have their moments."
We jerk at hearing a familiar beeping, faint, only to be louder hearing it coming closer to us. Hunkering close to Danny, we hide the thermos behind our backs, hearing the Fenton Finder, "Ghost directly ahead." Looking up to see our parents covered in meat, walking up to the four of us, I know that it is my Dad holding the Fenton Finder in front of him, "You would have to be some moron not to notice the ghosts. Directly ahead." We weakly smile at him, only for our parents to look up from the Fenton Finder is pointed right at us.
"Oh, sorry, Dad." Pointing behind him at the mess, "You just missed him—" Slamming my elbow into his side, "Her!"
"Yeah! I think it was the ghost of a lunch lady!" I said excitedly to him.
"We got a runner!" Our parents run off only to reveal Jazz with her arms crossed.
Looking at the irritated Jazz, "Great!" Watching her walk away, "Back to square one." Jazz tries so hard to give us a way to be expected.
Tucker looks at me, "So, you're not gonna tell 'em?"
"Nah. I think we might've finally figured out what these powers are for they make me—" A hand suddenly grabs Danny by the shoulder, handing me the thermos; we turn to see Mr. Lancer looking furious at Danny. Oh, yeah. I am turning to clip the thermos on my belt, hiding it under my blouse.
"In a world of trouble." It is nighttime, and we are still cleaning up, as Mr. Lancer told me that I wasn't in trouble, but the thing is. I wasn't going to let Danny get all the blame, so I admitted that I threw mud at Paulina and Star; he had sighed as I wince at Mr. Lancer yelling into the megaphone, "Manson!" I am lifting my head to see Danny, Sam, and Tucker lift their heads while lifting my head from a trashcan. I had smelled some cooked meat, and the memory of being fried, oh, that was horrible, "Pick up that T-bone!"
Sam looks disgusted as I gag again, feeling my stomach wanting to come up through my throat, "With my hands?" She had walked over when I had shoved my head into a trash can, "Uh, Mr. Lancer, I am going to give Elle a hand."
I didn't hear what Mr. Lancer said, only him yelling, "Foley! Pick up that Turfwich!"
Lifting my head to see Tucker also equally disgusted as Sam, "With my hands?" He holds up a turfwich by its corner. I cough, spitting out salvia, hearing Tucker, "Hey, dude, is your sister going to be okay?"
Seeing Mr. Lancer please with the clean-up's progress, seeing him take a bite out of a turkey leg, he walks away from us. Seeing Danny sweeping some meat, but only to see Dash leaning against the dumpster looking pleased seeing all the meat in the dumpster. He laughs as Danny sweeps by him; Danny looks back over at Dash as I go to pick up a broom, and a stabbing stick, when I see Danny go to the side of the dumpster. Seeing him grab it, it turns intangible, allowing all the dumpster's meat contents to spill out all over Dash, trapping him over the massive pile of meat. Dash pokes his head out from under the meat pile, "FENTON! A little help?"
He looks pleased, turning to look at me, "Whatever you say, Dash." He looks at me, snickering, "Whatever you say." Watching his eyes glow green as I am smiling at him.
Later that night, it is like one in the morning; Danny stumbles against me as I hold him up, Jesus. I finally had him in bed. Sighing as I walk down to the basement, hearing my screams echo through my mind. I shake my head, I am here, and I am here-blinking away the tears, gripping my right arm, feeling my left hand, the fingers digging into my shoulders, "I am here. I have a beating heart. I am Danielle Esmeralda Fenton," Feeling a tear fall down my cheek, "In my past life, I was Cecilia Ellnore Ravencroft…." Dropping down on steps, looking up at the black and orange door, then at my hands only to see that they were trembling. Danny is usually with me, but …I can't handle the basement. Running up the steps, bumping into someone looking to see that it's Dad, "Dad—"
Dad looks down at me, then at the portal; he holds out some fudge, "It did some damage to you, didn't it, Danielle?" He doesn't share his fudge as I look at him, taking a small bite.
Nodding as he lifts me, seeing the thermos in my lap, "Keep the thermos; it may come in handy for you. Now that I proved to Jazz that ghosts are real, your Mom and I will think of gadgets to protect you. I wish you kids would be more into what your Mom and I do."
"Dad, sometimes we have to go to what we want. Jazz wants to see into people's minds, and I want to see the ocean, while Danny…Danny wants to see the stars. There are some things that we can use…Jazz can use her psychology to figure out why a ghost is a ghost. There could be a ghost from poached animals, but Danny has something greater. Dad, stars die, he will see something more…the ghost of stars. He will see something greater, possibly."
Dad stares at his hands as we are sitting on the couch; as I curl my arms around the thermos, "I…I never thought about it like that. The possibilities," He stands up, hugging me, "We're going to be the greatest scientists of the ghost study. Right now," He sets me down, looking at me, "Both Danny and you are going to stay home today, and," He lays a hand on my shoulder, "Get some rest."
I go up to the bed, seeing Danny sitting on my bunk, looking up at me, "I hear everything." Setting the thermos on the bed, kicking off my wedges, feeling my numb feet ache as I put my feet back on the ground, he lays on the bed as I lay next to him. Tears are running down his face, lifting my hand to apply it on the pillow. He looks up at me with tears streak down his cheeks, raising his hand to lay it on mine; his thumb rubs over the scars, "I didn't know you suffered from attacks."
"Jazz tried to do her psychology, but I couldn't do it with her. I didn't want to have her…she was always badmouthing Mom and Dad. It's in our blood. You'll see as for The Fenton family was always connected to the supernatural; now you and I are part of the supernatural world." He chuckles as I smile, "For real, one of our ancestors was supposed to be a witch hunter, and then his son became a ghost hunter after seeing his first ghost at a witch's trail."
"Elle, do you think we are freaks?" Shaking my head, leaning forward to touch my forehead against his, "When did our lives go to this craziness?" It was something that we always did in comfort with one another. "Can you sing me that song? That song…that strange song that you always hum."
Humming deep, "Flower, gleam and glow…Let your power shine…Make the clock reverse…Bring back what once was mine…Heal what has been hurt…Change the fates' design…Save what has been lost…Bring back what once was mine…What once was mine." Feeling the blanket pulled over us to see that it was Mom smiling down at us, "Night, Mom."
"Night, Danny. Night, Elle. That's a pretty song." Humming as I shut my eyes hearing the door click shut. My mind and body drift to sleep.
In front of a portal appears to be a ghost hovering; this ghost wears a violet cloak with the hood pulled up only to reveal the pale blue face with a scar across his left eye. He lets a smirk cross his face, "So many timelines and possibilities that will make you all grow." He looks into one portal seeing Elle's arms wrapped around a man that looks like a werewolf in a thousand years. In other outlets, Elle and Danny helping a red dragon. Then another showing a man in his early twenties with freckles across his cheeks with black hair, "There will be a time that I must challenge you. There will be alternate timelines but relax; I know you will help Danny know the true path to his destiny." He turns, revealing a clock-like mechanism embedded in his chest; looking at other windows into time, he sees Danny and Elle getting crowned by the ancient ghosts. He smiles, "Elle, I know you will lead Danny to his true destiny, and Dan…." Seeing into the alternative timeline, "You will reunite with Elle, and remember why you were Phantom." He looks back in the portal to see Elle and Danny sleeping peacefully, "Everything's the way it's supposed to be."
