When Lincoln woke up he expected the afterlife or a forest of some kind cause that's how it goes in most books he's read when you fall through a portal
being under a bunch a scrap metal was not on that list of possibilities
now Lincoln is terrified as he can be considering he is made of metal now so if he's in a scrap yard he's screwed
and he doesn't want to know what happens when you die in a robot body when you were human
luckily for him he seems to have protected the now organic Lily from the fall and the metal surrounding them
(she's probably gonna need a tetanus shot after this.) Lincoln thought to himself (if there are some here.)
Lincoln tried to look for an opening to blast out without getting Lily impaled but couldn't find any openings
then he heard foot steps
"Help!" Lincoln yelled hoping for someone to hear him "we're trapped under the scrap metal!"
"hold on sir!" A British robotic voice said "we're on our way!"
soon the scrap began to move away and a crab pincer came through offering assistance
Lincoln grabbed hold of lily and took it
it pulled him out and he got a better look around the area
there was scrap metal everywhere in piles and piles
he saw many different robots all beaten up some looked like they had taken two different parts and put them together
(kinda like him when he was first put into his robot body.)
"by Jove!" The voice from earlier said "he's in incredible condition!"
he turned and saw some more robots more put together than the others
his mechanical brain actually had information on them
3 eggrobo's (what is with the eggs?)
an E100 unit specifically E117 sigma whatever that means
(he assumes the E stands for egg)
and a...Mecha...sonic?
Lincoln remembered that there was a metal sonic in fact he had his head
he also noticed that Mecha sonic's original arm was similar to his old one
Lincoln wondered who was this "sonic" guy and why was there so many robots made in his image
he noticed Mecha sonic staring at him with his singular eye
"Sigma he's most likely still affiliated with eggman." Mecha sonic said "perhaps the doctor has found us and him here to destroy Scrapnik island."
"who?" Lincoln asked
"I will not be taken in by your lies!" Mecha sonic said before going for a kick
luckily for him, Lily (or the phantom ruby) instinctively put up a barrier protecting him
he then noticed Mecha sonic's buzzsaw foot
(talk about Deja vu.) Lincoln thought to himself
"is that..." sigma began now noticing Lily
"I am not your enemy." Lincoln said "I don't know any eggman. Or any food based doctor."
"then why are you here?" Mecha sonic asked
"I don't know I just fell through a portal and next thing i know I'm under some scrap metal." Lincoln said
"I don't detect any sort of dishonesty in your voice." Sigma said "very well then. welcome to Scrapnik island!"
Lincoln now noticed the giant Death Star looking building in the distance
"this place is where us abandoned badniks can have a new life." Sigma explained as they walked around the area "of course most of the badniks here are damaged when they arrive so I repair them and they become Scrapniks."
"badniks?" Lincoln asked "Scrapniks?"
"you really must not have anything to do with the doctor if that's your reaction." Sigma said
"I think? Honestly these past couple days have been nuts." Lincoln said "my whole conciseness gets shoved into a bunch of stuck together parts, kinda like you guys, by my sister and then she does the same thing to my other sister and then said other sister absorbs some weird gem and turns into a fox and then me and the sister who made us robots fight and finally me and the fox sister fall into a portal and here we are now."
"wait put your conciseness into a robot?" Sigma asked "were you organic originally?"
"yeah I think that parts I was made of were from that eggman guy you mentioned." Lincoln said "I'm pretty the original robot is in my body."
"I see. I knew the doctor was working on a device to control badniks with his mind but never thought he had one to put someone else's mind into them." Sigma said
Lincoln noticed Mecha sonic glitch out for a moment
"is he ok?" Lincoln asked
"I think so." Sigma said "my coding abilities aren't exactly that profound."
"hey we all try our best." Lincoln said
"if you were really a Scrapnik before then why do you look like this now?" Mecha sonic asked
"well this weird gem in lily's chest made her organic again but as a fox and it made me well this." Lincoln said "my database, god that feels weird to say, says it's called the phantom ruby."
"she won't last long here." Sigma said "there's no crops here no food of any kind."
"anyway off this island?" Lincoln asked
"there is one way but it's no where close to being done." Sigma said "follow me."
they followed sigma
on the way there Lily woke up
"linky?" Lily asked looking around
"hey there." Lincoln said "don't worry we're safe."
"is the little one alright?" Sigma asked
"no injuries besides from the blast injury that caused her to make the portal here." Lincoln said "I still should probably get her a tetanus shot though."
Soon they arrived in a hanger with a massive battle ship inside
"behold scrapnik island's pride and joy the scrambled egg carrier!" Sigma said
(what is this guy's deal with eggs?) Lincoln thought to himself
"our wish is to day leave the island however we are held back because of us being failures in our creators eyes." Sigma explained
suddenly Lincoln felt an attack coming his way so he dodged
"uh who is that?" Lincoln asked as he saw the attacker
they had a mace for a hand and the other hand had sharp claws
they were very rusty but Lincoln could see specks of silver
they were wearing a torn hat which from under it Lincoln could see a red eye
Lincoln's data base gave him an answer
mecha knuckles
"that's mecha knuckles." Sigma said "his original eggman directive was to protect the master emerald shrine on angel island however it was so deeply embedded into his programming I was unable to remove them so instead i diverted his protective instincts to guarding the scrambled egg carrier."
"so he's just a little punch happy got it." Lincoln said
"stand down lad. ...I just realized we never got your name." Sigma said to Lincoln upon realizing he never told them his name
"oh it's Lincoln." Lincoln said
"Lincoln and Lily are our friends." Sigma said
Mecha knuckles looked he was about to stand down only to glitch and punch sigma in the face
"Sigma!" Lincoln said
Mecha knuckles then turned his attention to Lincoln
but Lincoln on instinct threw a punch
his arm stretched to close the distance between the two grabbing Mecha knuckles by the face and pulling him towards Lincoln
"sorry." Lincoln said "this body just does stuff on it's own."
Mecha knuckles was about to throw another punch but Lincoln grabbed him by the face again
"chill out!" Lincoln said
suddenly Lincoln's hand glowed pink as the leftover phantom ruby energy overwrote Mecha knuckles's old eggman programming
Mecha knuckles fell over as Mecha sonic helped sigma up
"is he alright?" Sigma asked
"he's just resting." Lincoln said
"in pieces." Mecha sonic said "he's dead."
"he's so sleepy." Lincoln said
then mecha knuckles rebooted now docile
he tipped his hat before going on his way
"that was weird." Lincoln said
suddenly the phantom ruby in lily's chest began to glow again
"oh that can't be good." Lincoln said
it fired a beam at the scrambled egg carrier and when the smoke cleared it was fully repaired
"Gears and starters!" Sigma said "It's repaired!"
"that's not the only thing fixed." Lincoln said "look."
He pointed at Mecha sonic who was no longer rusty
he still had the parts sigma gave him but overall he was in much better shape
"it seems miss Lily here needs to release the phantom ruby's energy every once in a while." Sigma said as Mecha went inside the egg carrier "though it seems like she can't control it."
"so we're basically playing a coin flip here either repairs or complete destruction." Lincoln said his voice sounding agitated
"are you alright?" Sigma asked
Lincoln punched a nearby wall denting it
"I'm fan-fucking-tastic." Lincoln said "thanks for asking."
"I have some bad news." Mecha sonic emerging from the carrier "there's not enough fuel for a long flight."
"that's not good." Sigma said "even if everyone on Scrapnik island was working together to add solar panels and making a hole for the sun light to reach previously mentioned solar panels that would Still take weeks not even mentioning the time it would take to charge something as massive as the egg carrier."
Lincoln flew up to inspect it
"surely there's a way to get some power to this thing right?" Lincoln asked
"Lincoln you can fly?!" Sigma asked
"yeah?" Lincoln said
"why can't you just take miss Lily to land?" Sigma asked
"two reasons." Lincoln said "1 I have no clue where I'm going 2 I'm not gonna leave you guys here!"
"thank you for your kindness." Sigma said "but miss Lily will die here if we don't find a power source."
"there is one power source." Mecha sonic said looking at Lily more specifically the phantom ruby
"no we are not ripping the phantom ruby out of lily." Lincoln said "we need a better plan."
"wait Mecha do the electronics on the egg carrier work?" Sigma asked
"yes the lights were on when I was in there." Mecha sonic said
"I got an idea!" Sigma said

also for those wondering why I didn't mention mecha sonic's flower well it's my way of showing that this is before the metal virus arc
since it's most likely the flower that eggman tested the virus on is the same one that Mecha sonic is taking care of
