Sorry this chapter is so short!
The following morning, Lloyd had mixed feelings on the school bus. He kinda liked Zane, but he still had to avoid Cole and his friend Jay. And Chen and Kai.
So far Lloyd had managed to dodge every potential interaction with them, though. He always made sure that he was the last person to enter class. During break time, he would lock himself in the bathroom (Any claims that he was eating his lunch in there are untrue!).
A week passed, and Lloyd had finished his project with Zane and got a B. It deserved more, but Lloyd didn't really care. Not after he was walking in the park after school one day and met Zane.
"I'm so happy to meet a friend out of school!" Zane exclaimed.
A friend. It was official. Lloyd had a friend.
After that, sometimes Lloyd wouldn't lock himself in the bathroom during the break (and eat his lunch there). He would go outside and talk to Zane.
Unfortunately, Lloyd had let his guard down for a bit too long. He lost track of time one afternoon and walked down the hallway too early. Naturally, he was met with Chen and Kai.
"Look at who we have here," Chen began.
Kai continued. "Haven't seen you since you pushed that boy into the pool. How could you do such a thing?"
"Looks like we have to avenge him for you." Chen pinned Lloyd to the locker and Kai kicked his stomach. He barley missed his liver. Lloyd knew it was over for him. The bullies would keep beating him up until he dropped dead at this point. He closed his eyes and made a prayer. Suddenly, a familiar voice intruded the scene.
"What do you think you're doing?"
Chen and Kai turned around to see Morro.
"Morro, buddy, what's up?" Chen didn't take his hands off Lloyd.
"Let go of Lloyd."
"Why? Don't you hate him?" Kai retorted. "You invited him to your party and he attempted to drown a boy."
"We all know you're lying, Kai."
"Why are you suddenly being so defensive of this son of a bitch?" Chen was getting skeptical of Morro.
"This 'son of a bitch' is my cousin!" None of the three freshmen clearly understood what happened after that. Strong winds started coming from Morro's direction, blowing away Chen and Kai. Lloyd was in shock.
Where did the wind come from? The windows and doors are closed.
Morro grabbed Lloyd's wrist and ran off with him in a flash.
"We're leaving school early today."
"Why? Morro, what did you do to Kai and Chen?"
"I'll explain when we get home. Theres something you need to know urgently, and I don't think you'd believe me if I told you. We're going to Wu."
