The next week arrived, and on Monday Lloyd was terrified. Even when Morro had exposed his powers to the world the two couldn't miss school. There would be more rumours now. About how Lloyd was a villain.
The cousins boarded the bus once again, and Lloyd tried to ignore the stares in his direction. However, today half of these stares were directed at Morro instead.
At school, Lloyd trailed behind Morro for as long as he could. When Morro had to head for his classroom, Lloyd made a run for his. He ran fast enough so nobody could talk to him, or touch him. He looked at the floor very carefully, so that he wouldn't trip over anything.
And he tripped over his feet.
Lloyd hit his head pretty hard, so he lay on the floor for a while. He forgot what he was doing until he heard footsteps approach him.
Oh no.
Who was it?
Was it Chen and Kai, coming for payback? Or Cole and Jay, also coming for payback? (Sorry guys, my writing skills ended here. -_-)
"Hello, Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon."
Oh. It was Zane.
"H-hey Zane!" Lloyd said while scrambling off the floor. "What are you doing?"
"I was on my way to our classroom when I saw you collapse. I then approached you to assist you in your wellbeing."
"I'm fine, Zane. I didn't collapse, I just tripped over my feet. No concussion or anything. But thanks for caring!" Lloyd tried to run away but Zane grabbed his arm.
"I heard a rumour," he started. "From other human beings. They stated that your cousin, Morro in Grade 12, used wind powers to blow Kai and Chen from Grade 9 down. Is that true?" His light blue eyes pierced into Lloyd's green ones. The blond didn't know how to respond.
"Rumours are crazy, don't you think Zane?"
"Is it true?" Zane's expression didn't change. Lloyd thought for a while. Should I tell him the truth? He's my friend. My only friend.
"Yes."
"So Morro is the elemental master of wind." Lloyd froze. Zane also knew what an elemental master was.
"Hey Zane, what do you know on elemental masters?"
Zane opened his mouth, ready to give a response, when they both heard a teacher's voice booming from behind them.
"HEY! WHY AREN'T YOU BOTH IN CLASS?"
Lloyd and Zane both ran away at lightning speed.
After the first class, Zane was nowhere to be seen, as he took different subjects from Lloyd. The blond was eating lunch alone outside, when a familiar voice haunted him.
"Hey Lloyd!" Lloyd turned to his left to see Cole. He was sitting next to Jay, and waving happily towards him. Why is he so happy? Lloyd thought. Must be a trap.
"H-hi." Lloyd returned an awkward smile.
"Come sit with us!" This was definitely a trap.
"Uh... no thanks!"
"Shy? We'll sit with you instead!" Both of them approached Lloyd and the latter was petrified. What do they want from him?
"How's it going?" Cole didn't hint any annoyance in his voice. "This is my friend, Jay. Jay, this is Lloyd." Jay didn't look bothered either.
"Nice to meet you, Jay." Lloyd said nervously.
"Nice to meet you too."
"It's been so long since we last spoke, Lloyd. What happened?" Cole didn't look as curious as he sounded. He already knew the answer. He wanted to hear it from Lloyd himself.
"Oh, I was busy."
"But you seemed specifically distant after that party we met at." He hit the target. Lloyd couldn't back away now. Not to mention the boy he was accused of drowning was sitting right next to him. It was time to acknowledge the elephant in the room.
"Yeah, I humiliated myself pretty bad after..." Lloyd didn't know how to continue his statement. Cole could probably see how uncomfortable he felt.
"Being accused of drowning Jay in the pool?" Oh dear.
"Cole, it wasn't me. It was-"
"Chen. We know." Jay spoke up. Seeing Lloyd relax a little, Cole decided to continue.
"Lloyd, I know you wouldn't have done such a thing. You're an amazing person who wouldn't hurt a soul of they didn't deserve it."
"And I for one, know I didn't deserve to be drowned." Jay smirked and Lloyd could feel a smile creeping up on his own face. But then he remembered what Chen announced in front of everyone at the pool.
"Cole, aren't you forgetting what Chen said at the party? About me being Garmadon's son?"
Cole's expression became serious. "Are you evil, Lloyd?"
Lloyd sighed. "I'm not."
"Then I'll take your word for it."
Lloyd could feel tears coming to his eyes. Cole trusted him. Suddenly Cole pulled him into a tight hug.
"We're still friends, Lloyd."
"Thank you."
Cole let go. "Wanna play videogames at my house tonight?"
Someone was inviting Lloyd to a party. It was a once in a lifetime chance. He wasn't technically invited to Morro's party and that didn't end well anyways.
"What time?"
