"The real me is a villain?! That's not possible!" The boy asked in a surprised tone.
"He would never do such a thing unless he had a good reason to." She said to herself.
"Keralynn! Is something wrong? I heard glass break." Koda said as he ran towards her.
She comes back to reality to see the broken glass on the floor. She bends down to pick up the glass. "Sorry. I was caught off guard with what the news said." She said in a low tone.
"Are you okay? You're not hurt are you?" He asked in a worried tone. He bends down and helps her pick up the glass.
"I'm fine Koda, really." She said as she smiled cutely, making him blush.
"It can't be possible, can it, Kera? The real me can't be a villain!" The boy asked as he looked at her.
"Dude! You know that Villain?" Sero asked as he, Kaminari, Kirishima, and Bakugo were sitting on the couches, watching the TV.
"Well duh, He's the real me! I'm the illusion that was based after him when he was six!" He explained.
"If you know the damn villain, then maybe you can tell us why he's here in Japan." Bakugo said as he looked at him.
"We don't know." The boy said.
"Bagheera huh, why would he choose his father's name for his villain name?" The little Keralynn asked herself as she appeared beside the boy.
"I have to admit, Bagheera is a really cool name. But it could be because his father was a villain?" The boy said questionably.
"Maybe he chose that name so that Mayson would immediately recognize him. If you were based off of him when he was six, then it's possible that he might have found out that Mayson is staying in Japan and might be looking for her." Midoriya said as he looked down in thought, beginning to mumble to himself.
"He wasn't just a villain……Lord Chuck was also the leader of a major underground crime syndicate in the U.S. Axel never wanted to be a part of it, but I guess he was forced into it anyway." Keralynn said sadly with her ears pulled back.
Koda looks at her worriedly, feeling a large twinge of jealousy in his heart. "I-I could tell that he's a childhood friend of yours f-from the way this one tries to defend your child form. He must be someone special to you." He said as he smiled at her.
"He's always been like an elder brother to us but we're technically cousins on our real mother's side. His great grandmother and our great grandfather were twins who were separated at birth, their mother rejected my great grandfather because he was the smaller and weaker of the two. Axel and I met by pure chance when my mother took me with her to run some errands. But my mother grew up with Axel's father." The young Keralynn explained.
"Her real mother and my real father were supposed to be mated shortly after my real mother passed away. But her real mother fell in love and became humanoid to mate with Kera's real father." The boy finished.
"That's enough, you two. I'm sure the Bakusquad doesn't want to hear our life's story." Keralynn said in a stern tone.
"Awe okay." The boy that was called Axel said in a sad tone as he disappeared.
"But there's one person that does want to hear our life's story." The young Keralynn said as she smiled cutely at Koda before disappearing. He blushed slightly.
"I'm interested in hearing about it. Who knew it was possible for humans and animals to reproduce together." Mineta said.
"Under normal circumstances, it's not possible at all. The only way is if someone has a transmutation quirk that allows another person or animal to become a humanoid. Even then, my mother had to learn to walk and use her new humanoid body like a human would. The same would be the opposite for a human that turned into an animal." She explained.
Iida looks down in thought before he looks at Keralynn, adjusting his glasses. "I just realized something. If your mother was supposed to marry Bagheera's father but married yours instead, then wouldn't the responsibility fall to the two of you getting married after you graduate?" He asked. Koda's eyes widened. He turns to Keralynn as she looks down in thought.
"I haven't really thought much of it. I suppose it would. But he's more of an elder brother to me than anything. I'm not interested in him in that sort of way. If we were to marry, my mother would have told me something about it a long time ago." She said.
"Y-You do have a point there, Iida. But if she doesn't want to marry him. Then we'll do whatever we can to make sure she doesn't." Koda said shyly.
She looks at him and smiles. "That's really sweet of you to say, Koda, but you don't need to do anything, I doubt he would try to force us to marry anyway. He's nothing like his father." She explained in a calming tone.
"If he ain't like his dad then why is he going around stealing people's stuff like a villain?" Bakugo said in an angered tone.
She turns to him. "He wouldn't do things like this unless he had a reason or his father forced him to. As far as we know, his father is locked away in prison, never to see the light of day again." She said.
"Regardless, if he is in the syndicate, he could be following orders from a higher up." Iida said.
"It still doesn't answer the question as to why he's in Japan." Bakugo said. Just then, Keralynn's phone rang. It was her mother.
She answered it. "Hello." She asked as she put it on speaker so everyone could hear.
"Keralynn! Where are you right now?" Her mother asked in a worried tone.
"I'm at UA with Koda and the other Class 1-A students. Is something wrong?" She asked.
"Very wrong. It's not safe to go out right now. Lord Chuck has escaped prison with the syndicate's help!" She began to say. Everyone's eyes widened. Koda wraps his arms protectively around her. "Axel came to warn me about Lord Chuck's escape and that he was going to Japan to warn the heroes there. I know he does bad things for the syndicate. But he's not a bad kid, you know this already. You'll have to stay there a while longer until Lord Chuck is caught again. Axel will act as your bodyguard while he's there. Stay safe."
"But we just saw on the news that he's a villain. He stole a purse from an elderly woman." Midoriya said.
"But a couple seconds later he returned the purse to her. He only stole about four thousand yen." Kirishima said.
"That's equal to about twenty-six US dollars, right?" Keralynn asked as she looked up at Koda. He nodded his head yes. "He only steals money when he needs to buy food or a place to sleep. He's a petty criminal, yes, but he isn't a full villain. He's never killed anyone."
"Yeah, and the real me would NEVER kill anyone!" The young Axel appeared.
"Keralynn? Who is that with you?" Her mother asked with suspicion in her voice.
"It's class 1-A and the illusion of Axel, from when he was a young boy. While Reika and Tokoyami are away, I stay with Koda and the others. I'm sure that Mr. Aizawa explained to you about how some of my illusions can appear without me singing." She said.
"Some of her more permanent illusions have become sentient." Koda said.
"Ah, yes, he has told me about your power evolving and that the class is helping you train to control it. Is that Koda kid that you like helping you?" She asked. Keralynn blushes brightly before covering her face with her hands.
"I am, ma'am. I am in charge of making sure that she takes breaks in between sessions and that she's well hydrated. She never leaves my sight." He said in perfect English with no stuttering. Everyone stares at Koda with surprise on their faces, their mouths agape.
"That's good to hear. I'm sure with their help you will grow into a strong hero. Be sure you stay with your friends at all times. I don't want you to go anywhere on your own. Do you understand me, Keralynn?" Her mother said.
"Y-Yes Mother." She said in a low tone, her face still as red as a cherry.
"Don't worry, Mrs Mayson. As the class representative, I will make sure that she won't leave our side. You can count on us to protect your daughter with our very lives." Iida said in English as he moved his arm in a chopping motion.
"We will make sure that a member of our class will be with her at all times." Yayorouzu said in English.
" I trust that you heroes in training will keep your word." Her mother said as she smiled.
She said her goodbyes and hung up, putting her phone back in her pocket. The front door opened as Mr Aizawa, Reika and Tokoyami entered the room. "As you've probably heard on the news, an American villain has appeared. Mayson's mother has contacted us about him and his father." He said.
"She has told us about Bagheera and his father. Her mother told us that he is supposed to be here as her bodyguard and that she would have to stay in Japan longer than anticipated." Iida said.
"We've received word that her father is making plans to travel to Japan with his syndicate in search of her. We don't know all the details but her mother has explained that Bagheera is only a small criminal who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. He was sent here by her to assist in keeping Keralynn safe from his father." Aizawa explained.
"Just like Robin Hood." Keralynn said. "I knew he wasn't a true villain." She said as she looked down and smiled.
Aizawa looks at Reika and nods his head. She nods back then walks towards Keralynn and Koda. "Come with me, Kera. Let's go play with Hoshi in my room. She said.
Koda lets her go as they walk towards the elevator. Once they were in the elevator he looked at Tokoyami as he looked at him with a sad expression on his face. "I want the rest of you to take a seat. There are some things I need to explain to you all about this situation." As everyone sat down and situated he continued. "As you all know, last week Mayson's father passed away during his tour of America. The main cause of death was his body slowly exploding from the inside. A member of the syndicate has a quirk that allows her to turn organs into bombs, luckily she has been arrested and detained. It was Bagheera's father that ordered her to kill him." He explained. Everyone but Tokoyami's eyes widened.
Koda felt his heart sink. "Reika has asked us to keep this information a secret from Mayson. She has been through enough in the past couple of weeks, she doesn't want her to bear the reasoning behind her father's death on top of everything that's happened to her." Tokoyami said.
"The US believes that Chuck killed her father because he stole her mother from him. Ever since he found out that her mother was pregnant with her out of wedlock, he had devised a plan that took almost sixteen in a half years to kill him. Now that he's killed his main target, his next target will most likely be Miss Mayson." Principle Nezu said as he walked in the door, followed by a tall man with a long black spotted tail and round black ears. The same man that was on the news just moments ago.
Everyone's eyes widened. They wanted to charge at the man but since he had entered the room with Nezu. They were forced to restrain themselves. They look at him with clear anger or rage in their eyes. "What the hell is he doing here, Rat thing?!" Bakugo asked in an angered tone as he stood up, getting ready to fight. He was the only one that couldn't restrain himself from wanting to attack the man.
"Stand down, Bakugo. Bagheera is here to help us protect Mason from his father. Since he has more information on him than we do, He will be a great asset to us, regardless if he's a criminal or not." Aizawa said as his eyes started to glow their red hue and his hair rose up.
"That doesn't excuse the fact that he stole four thousand yen from an elderly woman, Mr Aizawa." Iida said as he made another chopping motion with his arm.
"Relax. I didn't steal her money. I traded it for a couple of twenties. She can exchange those for yen." The tall man said.
"Why didn't you do that yourself?" Kirishima asked as he glared at him.
"I mean the news caught me stealing so it was best if I stayed hidden for a bit before coming here. I was hungry when I got off the plane. It was a very long flight." He explained. He looks around the room. "So where is Kera anyway?"
"Like we'd ever tell you where the furball is!" Bakugo said.
The tall man laughed. "Furball. She's just as fluffy as her mother. That's a good one for her!" He said as he calmed down to a chuckle. When he finally stopped, he looked at them seriously. "I trust that you guys haven't been mean to my little sister, have you?" He looks over at Mineta and gives him a death glare. "Or tried anything on her?"
"We would never do such things to harm Keralynn! She is our friend! All of us have been doing whatever we can to help with training her quirk! She has come a long way in the short amount of time she's been here. Her quirk is just as powerful and just as amazing as she is. Sure she has trouble controlling her illusions at night. But we are here to help her whenever she needs us. So if Lord Chuck wants to get his filthy hands on her, then he'll have to go through all of us first. And we won't let her go without a fight." Koda said in an angered tone as he glared at him.
He looks back at Koda and smirks. "Aren't you supposed to be the shy one in the class? The one that has the quirk to communicate to the animals. What makes you think you can protect Kera from my father with your useless quirk? Trust me kid, you're better off staying on the sidelines. Let the real heroes handle the hard stuff." He explained.
"That's enough everyone." Aizawa said as he glared at everyone in the room.
"Just a moment, Mr Aizawa." Koda said calmly. He stands up and looks at him. "In case you haven't noticed, Skyies. This class is a part of the hero course. Since I am a part of this class, then my Anivoice isn't as 'useless' as you think. My friends can vouch for that. So if you think I'm not good enough to protect Keralynn along with them, then you need to get your eyes checked." Koda argued.
Bakugo smiled. "Would ya look at that. Rock face's balls have finally grown in." He said.
"No…Don't tell me…You've got a thing for her, don't you?! Well I'll be, so there really is someone other than me that likes her for who she is." He said in a happy tone. "I hate to tell you this buddy, and believe me I don't like this anymore than you do because I love her as a little sister. Nothing romantic ever grew between us and nothing ever will, but my dad is forcing me to marry Kera once she graduates. I asked her mother not to tell her till it was closer to her graduation." He explained in a now saddened tone.
"Once your father is locked up again, will that help get rid of the forced engagement?" Koda asked.
Axelander nodded his head yes. "I think so. I don't want to put her through anything she doesn't want to." He said.
"A-Axel? What are you doing here?" They hear Keralynn's voice. Everyone turned to see her holding Yuki in her arms, a surprised expression on her face. "What is going on here?"
"K-Keralynn! How long have you been there?* Koda asked with his eyes widened.
"Since you said that Lord Chuck would have to go through all of you to get to me." She said.
"That long huh." Axelander said as he looked at Koda, giving him a sly smile.
Koda looks at her with a sad expression before he turns and walks out the door. "I'm going for a walk." He said calmly, shutting the door behind him.
"W-wait, Koda!" She called out, trying to chase after him, but he had already shut the door. She turns and glares at Axel with a growl, her fur standing up. "What. Did. You. Do?!" She hisses.
"Easy sis, I didn't do anything, just got under his skin a little. You know me." He said. She continues to growl at him with a certain glare. "Come now sis, you don't want to challenge me. I always win every time we spar. You don't even have fangs or claws. Just calm down. I was only testing him." He explained.
"You called his quirk useless, that is unacceptable by my standards! He is normally the shyest boy in the class, hardly speaks a word. But you caused something in him to snap and now you've made him mad. That is something I will forgive you for, IF you apologize to him." She growled.
" Alright, alright. I'll talk to him when he gets back." He said calmly as he walked towards her. He booped her nose, causing her to blink and move her head back a little, with a squeak escaping her lips. "Just don't ever try to challenge anyone. You'll always lose in an animal fight."
She looked at him in annoyance before storming out of the door. It was dark out but she was still able to see. She thinks back to when she heard Koda's voice as she and Yuki came through a silver ring. "Her quirk is just as powerful and just as amazing as she is. Sure she has trouble controlling her illusions at night. But we are here to help her whenever she needs us. So if Lord Chuck wants to get his filthy hands on her, then he'll have to go through all of us first. And we won't let her go without a fight." His voice rang in her head.
"What did he mean by that? Are my illusions really as powerful as he said?" She asked herself.
"You've got a thing for her, don't you?! Well I'll be, so there really is someone other than me that likes her for who she is." She heard Axel's voice ring in her head.
'He doesn't like me like that. We're just good friends, nothing more, nothing less.' She thought in a sad tone as her eyes began to tear up. She shook her head and dried her eyes. 'NO! I can't think like that now. I have to find Koda.' She searched tirelessly for him when she finally found him close to Lionzo's cave, headbutting a large tree before punching it, causing his head and knuckles to bleed with Yukihime watching him.
"What did that tree do to make you so mad, Koda?" She asked as she tilted her head.
He sighs and places a hand on the tree's trunk. "I'm sorry, Hime. I've had a lot on my mind and I just……needed a place to clear my head." He said in a sad tone.
"Wanna talk about it?" She asked. He looked at the young pup and smiled. He sat down, leaning his back to the tree as he explained everything that's happened since he met Keralynn. Unbenounced to him that she was sitting on the other side of the tree, listening to him.
As she listened to him talk, she saw a black dove with one blue eye, the other green, fly down to her. It stared at her before its blue eye started to glow. Her eyes widened as she saw an image of Koda in her mind. He held Yuki and the black bunny in one arm, but held his hand out for her with the other, smiling. She hears a young male's voice in her head that wasn't the young Axel's. "Your one true love awaits, yet he is afraid of rejection, just as you." the young male voice said before she came back to reality.
"I've been jealous of Shoji for having a crush on her. When he asked if we've been good to her but making it sound and with him acting like a total dick about it. Something inside of me snapped and I told him off, without thinking. No stuttering, no pauses in between my sentences, I sounded like a normal person defending his friend. But then hearing the ONE thing I didn't want to hear straight from her REAL childhood friend that they're engaged because of his damn, good for nothing, monster of a father that LITERALLY ABUSED her as a child. So she either has to marry him or be killed by his father unless we catch him and put him back in prison." He explains in an angered tone. He looked down as his eyes began to tear up. "I-I don't want either of those to happen. She's only been here for about two weeks, but I've been slowly realizing that I'm……falling in love with her. With all these emotions swirling around in my head and with everything that's been happening, I feel like there's a large hole in my heart. And with the hole there, I feel like my heart is slowly crumbling to pieces." He cried as he buried his head in his arms.
He sees a small white mouse look up at him from between his legs as a tear drops on the mouse's nose. "For now, the only thing you can do to fix your aching heart, is tell her how you feel and help your friends protect her with your very life. Who knows, if your will to protect her is stronger than your fear of losing her, then I know that something amazing will happen when the time comes. Prove yourself to all your classmates and your enemies that she belongs to no one and that she is her own person. It's her choice on who she wants to be with." the little mouse said as she smiled.
Keralynn put her hands over her mouth with a surprised look in her eyes. 'H-He's…falling in love…w-with me?!' She thought. She looks to see Lionzo sitting in front of her, holding a first aid kit in his mouth by the handle.
"Only you can decide your own path. Just as it is your own choice to walk with or without someone down that same path." He said as he laid the first aid kit in front of her. "You are the master of your own destiny, but there are many fates to choose. It is up to you on which fate you will take."
She looks down at the first aid kit for a while before she smiles. She looks back at Lionzo and nods in thanks. Koda was still holding his head down, thinking of what to do. "There you are. Guess you were able to get some pent up anger out." He jumps when he hears Keralynn's voice. He feels a pair of soft hands gently grab one of his, beginning to clean and disinfect it.
He looks up to see her cleaning his knuckles. "K-Keralynn, How? How did you find me?" He asked, drying his tears with his palm.
"It wasn't easy, thankfully I have the sight and smell of a cat." She looks at him and smiles, causing him to blush. She looked back down to put disinfectant on his wounds. "I understand that you were angry at my brother, I am too. Hell, I almost fought him even though I'm weak. Compared to me, he is a full blooded black spotted leopard. Much stronger than a domestic house cat." She explains as she started putting bandages on his hands. "Your quirk isn't useless at all. It all just depends on what kind and how many animals are around to hear your voice. I'm sure that once you become a Pro Hero, you will be a hero specifically to help any and all animals in need. Maybe you'll be able to travel the world to different nature reserves or even the Amazon Rainforest, depending on what agency you choose." She said as she started mending the other hand.
He looks at her before he looks down, blushing slightly. "I'll have to start out by working for an agency, but what I really wanna do is start my own agency that will handle missions regarding the animal kingdom. During the mission to save Hoshi and the others, I realize that the animals don't have anyone that could help them. Most of the pro heroes that know about them are too busy helping the humans. So I want to make my own agency that will help animals as well as humans, all around the world!" He said smiling.
She looks at him and smiles. "That would definitely be an agency I would want to work for. But the problem with that is, most of the humans don't know about the animals that have quirks like us and the animal kingdom wants it to stay that way. The less people that know, the better they can live in peace." She said as she started to mend the wound on his head.
"It's because I met you that I thought of it. Ever since I met you, I haven't been acting like my usual self. I've been talking to others more, and voicing my opinions, like how you saw with Bagheera. I'm…not as shy as I used to be. It's only been a week and a half, but already you have turned my life to a full one eighty. Who I am now, is all thanks to you, Keralynn." He explained as he looked down and smiled, blushing a deep red.
When she was done cleaning and mending his head, She kissed the bandaged wound before sitting in front of him, putting the first aid materials she used away. "You're not the only one that has turned a full one eighty. Don't tell Reika or anyone else this, but before I came here, I was suicidal and I was thinking about ending it all. When I heard the news that dad passed away, I felt like I wanted to dig myself a hole and be buried alive. But ever since I met you and your other classmates, I haven't, not once, thought about suicide. It's because of you that I'm beginning to accept the part of me that I have shunned for most of my life. My mother's heritage is a part of me, I've always known that. But you were the first person, that wasn't Axel, that told me they liked how I looked…Y-You were the first person to ever tell me I was…beautiful." She explained before she realized what she was saying and looked away, blushing.
He looks at her and smiles before taking her hands into his own. "Because you are, you're the most beautiful and the most amazing girl I've ever met. Even though I never said anything about it, I knew that you weren't really smiling when you first arrived, only hiding how you truly felt. Even before I met you, Just thinking about what I imagined that day we talked over the phone, I could tell by the tone of your voice that you weren't happy. So I wanted to surprise you with a homemade Japanese meal, to give you the warmest welcome I could give when you first arrived. And when I saw how Yuki acted when the two of you first met. I knew that there was something special about you, because she never acts like that around anyone else but me. That made me want to get to know you even more." He explained as he stared deep into her eyes.
"You don't look so bad yourself, handsome and…I'm really glad I met you, Koda. To be honest, meeting you was the best thing that's ever happened to me, and not many good things have happened to me over the years. I often told myself that my quirk was useless and I'll only be a sidekick or a street performer if I fail at being a sidekick. I never thought much about my quirk evolving or some of the illusions becoming sentient." She said as she blushed.
"Keralynn! Don't EVER think that your quirk is useless. Your illusions are so powerful that, in my opinion, it rivals Tokoyami's Dark Shadow! You're doing everything you can to better control the non sentients so that they won't come out on their own at night. And with the help of those that are sentient, as well as Hoshi, Takami and I are always by your side when your illusions do go out of control." He explained as he smiled at her.
She smiles back at him before they both hear a loud thundercrack. She jumps before pouncing into his arms. "Not another storm. I hate storms." She said in a fearful tone, hiding her face in his chest, making her voice sound muffled.
He wraps his arms around her, holding her close. He places one hand over her ear while her other is over his heart. "It's okay, Keralynn. You're safe……You'll always be safe when you're with me. I won't let anything happen to you, I promise." He said as he hugged her tightly. "I swear, I will protect you with my very life. You're far too precious to me to just simply let go." He says in a low tone, almost a whisper.
She blushed a deep cherry red when she heard what Koda just said. He realized what he just said and also blushed an even deeper red than hers. She starts to hear his heartbeat faster but just quiet enough to lull her into falling asleep. 'So…peaceful…NO! I don't want to fall asleep. Not this time.' she thinks to herself as she pulls herself away from him.
"What's wrong?" He asked in a worried tone. She turns and lays her head down on the right side of his chest, beginning to purr, smiling.
"Much better." She said to herself. She jumped again when they heard another loud thundercrack. She feels his arms safely wrap around her.
"Why…did you want to lay on my right side?" He asked nervously.
"I don't want to fall asleep this time. Whenever I'm with you, I feel safe. I feel a sense of protection when I'm in your arms like this." She said shyly, hiding a blush from him.
She felt his left arm under her knees and he stood up, picking her up in his arms. "We should get back to the dorms before people start to worry." He said as he looked at her, smiling sweetly.
"I-I can walk on my own you know." She said, slightly pouting.
"I know, but I don't want to risk you running away from me the next time it-" He began to say before he was interrupted by another thundercrack then it started to sprinkle. He feels her jump and hides her face in his chest, her ears pulled back. He looks at her before he holds her close. "You're safe. Nothing will hurt you, as long as I'm with you, Keralynn." He whispered.
