Sunlight streamed through the slightly parted curtains. Adam leaned against the headboard with one hand on Ruby's head; his fingers ran through her hair. A light smile crossed his face when she buried her face further in the pillows. He didn't see a problem with letting her sleep a little later, after all, she'd worked hard yesterday. The vibration of his scroll on the bedside table caught his attention but he ignored it. Even from here he could see it was Siena calling. He'd rather not deal with her this early in the morning.

The only issue was that if he didn't deal with Siena soon, she might become a problem. He hated to kill his old leader, but he'd also hate for her to turn his life upside down if he didn't kill her. Sienna wasn't a perfect leader, yet he'd served her for five years. If he killed her, then it'd be a necessity not a desire. He knew that she'd be better as a general than a ruler.

The tension in his shoulders loosened when Ruby reached up to grip his shirt. Ruby Rose wasn't someone he'd expected. Now that she was by his side, he could no longer hesitate to simply purge his enemies.

Unfortunately, his scroll caught his attention. He eyed the vibrating device with more than a little annoyance. On the one hand he'd have to deal with Sienna eventually. There was no way to avoid her forever no matter how much he wished there was. The fact Tyrian was now her right-hand man was bad enough although he doubted whatever the man had planned would end in Sienna's favor. Maybe Tyrian would solve the issue for him.

When he picked up his scroll and saw that his guess was correct, he barely held back from tossing it across the room. Only a sleepy giggle kept him from acting on his emotions. He dropped his scroll onto the bed then turned his attention to the woman beside him.

"Good morning."

"Is it," she asked with an amused glint in her eyes.

He chuckled only to be cut off when his scroll began to vibrate again. Yeah, he was going to have to kill Sienna just so she'd stop calling him. He might be her general but that didn't give her permission to call him fifty times in less than an hour. This was worse than the time that he had to deal with the Atlas cargo train missions. At this point he might just have to kill her a lot sooner than he'd thought that he would.

The sharp laugh from Ruby startled him.

"Do you have a clingy ex that I don't know about," she asked.

He smirked. There was a hint of bloodlust in her eyes. If he set her free on Sienna what would she do? He had a feeling that his little lover would put Sienna in a grave. Part of him was tempted to let her loose, but it was his turn to play around and impress Ruby.

"I might soon," he admitted. "I guess I'll see what she wants at least."

The ship docked in two days. She looked up at the blue sky from the highest point on the ship and counted the clouds. Two days until she landed in Adam's trap. Of course, she'd known that Ilia was feeding information to Adam. There was no way that the woman would betray Adam, not when she'd been so terrified of his second in command. There was a reason she'd put herself on the advance ship while her parents and militia members were arriving a week later.

It was just her, Sun, Ilia, and the deputy captain who found her insistence to take the faster emergency boat into the city a bit suspicious. Given that she'd saved his entire crew, they were willing to do what she ordered. Now that Ilia was thrown off her game, the woman was scrambling to get into contact with her masters. Unfortunately, she'd swiped Ilia's scroll hours ago. She sighed in contentment and shifted to wrap her arms around Sun's waist.

Her lover instantly began to pet her hair. If she was being honest, she hadn't even tried to convince him to stay behind. She was afraid of what she'd do the moment he left her side. There were a million ways to handle the current situation, but she intended to take the path least traveled. It was time to settle her old debts, starting with Adam.

When the stolen scroll in her pocket vibrated, she sat up with a groan. She didn't hesitate to pull it out of her pocket. Ilia had never changed her password in all these years. With Sun leaning over her shoulder, she read the new message. It was a message to confirm proof of life and ensure that Ilia still complied with Adam's forces. This also acted as a warning for the chameleon. If this had been a few months ago she might have felt sorry for the other girl.

"So... we going to reply," Sun asked. His chin rested on her shoulder and his arms wrapped around her waist.

She let him pull her into his lap with a roll of her eyes. Should she reply? It wasn't totally necessary that Adam continue to believe that Ilia was on his side. If he thought she betrayed him, it might end up being for the better. Or at least, it'd get Ilia killed faster. She reached up to pet her lover's hair before exiting out of the message.

"No," she said. She locked Ilia's scroll and shoved it back into her pocket. Her ears twitched when Sun's heartbeat sped up. With him this close it was easy to lock onto the drumming of his heart.

"Blake are you planning on killing her," he asked.

She could lie. With slow movements, she shifted to face him. The blue eyes that met her own were so filled with hesitation that she couldn't bring herself to hide from him. Instead, she gently rested her hands on his cheeks. Sun was her light, but she'd never lie to him. Without the Monkey faunus she would never have survived these last few months. She brushed her thumb over his cheek.

"Yes, I want her dead," she said. She watched the way his eyes widened and waited for him to push her away. Almost a dozen emotions flashed through his eyes far too fast for her to decipher. Was this going to be the moment that she finally pushed him away?

It should have been.

"Okay."

"Okay?"

Did she hear him properly? He met her eyes with a forced smile and her heart ached. She hated seeing him force cheer into his expression.

His eyes flickered away from her own.

"I mean, if I have to choose then I'd choose you," he admitted. There was a hesitant tremble to his voice.

Blake Belladonna, future Queen of the faunus and High Leader of the White Fang, shivered at the words. She'd expected him to push her away, warn Ilia, or at least try to push back her murderous intent; Sun did none of those things. Her lover simply tightened his grip on her waist and waited for her to speak. She wasn't a fool; Sun hated the idea of killing. There was no way that his acceptance was easy, so when a fire sparked in her veins she stayed still.

"Sun, my Sun," she whispered. She purred when his face flushed a bright red. Her forehead pressed against his own when she leaned forward. "I won't be the one to kill Ilia."

"Blake?"

"That woman crossed a very vengeful man," she said. The smile on her face reflected in his eyes and even she found it a bit unhinged. "Don't worry, I won't touch her."

The words did nothing to settle the flustered man in front of her. She followed his line of sight to her lips. Did ruthlessness turn him on? She found out something new about him every day. Her body moved closer to his own when his grip on her waist tightened.

"Sun, can I kiss you," she asked. She pouted when he only nodded rapidly. "Words."

"Yes pl-"

She surged forward and pressed her lips against his own. Her hands brushed through his hair earning a whine from the man. She watched his eyes slip closed when her nails drifted over his scalp. The next moment, she pulled away from him. His flustered expression brought the coiling fire in her veins to a raging inferno. Her eyes narrowed when he looked away from her with an embarrassed tint to his cheeks.

"Sun, my Sun, I love you," she said bluntly. When his eyes snapped back to her own, she kissed him again. This time she didn't pull away until they were laying on the metal roof. She straddled the man below her with heated eyes.

"I love you too," he admitted. He looked up at her with blatant adoration in his eyes.

In the back of her mind, Blake registered the gasp from below. She didn't care if Ilia was spying on them, she didn't care if the ship captain got off on watching other's make out. What she cared about was the blonde in her hands.

He stepped into the High Leaders throne room without expecting much. His eyes met Tyrian's and he raised an eyebrow at the wicked smirk on the man's face. The glint in the man's eyes was mischief instead of bloodlust, for once, the scorpion wasn't looking to cause a massacre. He'd be more assured if the man was acting normal rather than how he looked right now. At least this wasn't going to be boring.

With feigned indifference he stopped in front of Sienna's throne.

"Ahh our 'hero' finally arrives," Sienna said. She smiled down at him. "I believe congratulations are in order for your most recent achievement."

"My achievement?"

"The destruction of the trafficking operation, of course."

His fingers twitched.

"That was not my doing," he said. It took him a moment to quiet the bloodlust in his body enough to meet her eyes. "My lover executed that operation."

Sienna stiffened with a frown then shook her head.

"Don't be stubborn."

Stubborn? The only reason her head was still attached to her shoulders was due to her role in his upcoming plans. The moment she moved to continue the thin cord of his self-control snapped.

"I will not allow you to discredit Ruby!"

The sharp words left his lips before he could stop them. Adam liked to believe he had lived his entire life fully in control of his own emotions. Now that he stood before Sienna he barely managed to keep his hand off the hilt of his sword. The dagger that buried itself in the floor inches from the tips of his toes brought him back to reality.

"That's enough!"

His nails dug into his hands when he looked up to meet her eyes. He stood glaring at her until she lowered her arm and leaned back. Had she counted his silence as a victory? His fingers twitched and he longed for the opportunity to kill the woman standing in front of him.

"Honestly, I allowed your relationship with this human to go on for far too long," she said.

The way she refused to say Ruby's name was enough to enrage him. His hand landed on the hilt of his sword then his gaze flickered to Tyrian. For once the man wasn't smiling. The man looked at Sienna with a heated glint in his gaze that Adam knew meant trouble. Adam stepped back with a false motion of surrender. He refused to lower his eyes when Sienna stood and began walking toward him. Whatever confidence she had in his need for her continued survival baffled him. He stiffened when she reached the bottom of the stairs and laid a hand on his shoulder.

"Listen, Adam, you are the star of the White Fang you can't be distracted by a human," she said.

He considered cutting off her hand. Behind the mask on his face, his eyes were a blue inferno. If he shoved his weapon through her heart, what sound would she make when she died? He wanted to find out. Did they even still need her alive? If he killed her right here and now, he'd be the leader of the White Fang. Except, Sienna needed to die at the hands of Blake for the plan to work. He slowly drove away the tension that had filled his shoulders. Until Sienna did something truly foolish, he would not take her life.

Oblivious to the danger, she smiled.

"I understand," he said softly. He understood that the moment Blake walked into his hands, Sienna would be dead. Only one of the feline faunus were necessary for his vision of the White Fang.

"Good, now there is a banquet tomorrow to celebrate, I trust you'll attend," she said. The smug glint in her eyes only grew when he nodded.

He watched her walk up the steps to her throne with malice filled eyes. When she died, he'd ensure that her supporters burned. If he couldn't kill her, then he'd kill everyone loyal to her until the memory of her was wiped from the world. No one insulted his reaper and got to live. A smile tugged at the edges of his lips. It'd been far too long since he got to cut loose.

"You can even bring that human of yours," Sienna said. She dismissed him with a wave without noticing the danger that lurked in his eyes.

Oh, he would. A wicked smile crossed his lips.

(Ruby)

She sipped the tea provided by Neptune and watched him bury his face in the files she'd provided. They were copies of course. She laid the cup on the table when he finally looked up with a distressed chuckle. Her fingers tapped the teacup when he laid the files down on the table.

"You've calmed down," he said. He interlocked his hands on the table. The man in front of her held none of the nervousness that he'd had at Beacon.

"Is that so?"

"Yes, did you have fun dismantling a criminal organization?"

She hesitated. Did she admit that killing Decker and Avery had settled a bit of the madness in her blood? After all these years she wasn't blind to the monster she had become, but Neptune wasn't one of her people. Not completely. Maybe it was time to change that. She finally offered him a relaxed grin that resembled that of a demon.

"I freed a bunch of kids, adopted some, and committed murder. It's been a good week," she said.

Neptune didn't react with the shock she'd expected, instead he took a drink of his tea. He eyed her closely with an intensity that she hadn't thought him capable of. The man in front of her pulled out his scroll and passed it to her. She took the scroll slowly. Her eyes darted over the words on the screen, and she froze.

"That is a document that reinstates the Rose family to the rank of Noble."

"Why would you do this," she asked. She'd expected him to give her cake not a noble title.

"You wanted a way to deal with Lionheart legally, as a noble you can challenge both him and the council," Neptune said. He stood before walking around the table to poke her nose. "I threw my lot in with you Ruby."

"Only the family head can claim the title," she said. Was he telling her to take over her estranged relatives? She didn't have a problem with taking over the Rose family completely, but she wanted to be clear about the next step.

"Become the head of the Rose family and I will support you," he said.

Neptune was the name of a God. In a few short years the man in front of her would become a General that drowned his enemies in the name of his queen. Neither of them knew this but the threads of destiny linked them together. When Ruby laughed and took his hand it sealed a deal between them reinforced by Death.

Ruby walked out of Neptunes house whistling a tune. She vanished among the civillians of Mistral without a single hint that she was a huntress. The familiar walk to Rose Manor was much easier this time. She didn't have to worry about what they thought about her, nor did she care. Last time she'd allowed them to walk over her because of her own memories. Now, she had a goal in mind, and nothing would stop her from accomplishing it. Two goals if she was being honest. First was the need for a bigger base due to her kids needing more space. While the second was the title. Either Laurence and Cedric would fall in line, or they'd die.
