It had been a few days since the flashback and the couple had bounced back once again. They stood tall when they entered the district the very next day and every day after that. Today though the couple would be facing off against Upton. They needed this handled and over with. The gossip needed to be done once and for all. As they entered the Commanders office they notice Voight and Platt were already there. "Good morning Sergeants." Kim offered as she took one if the available seats. "Morning both of you. Are you ready for this?" Platt asked. "Ready to understand why? Ready for it to be done. I want the drama left behind. I want to enjoy my pregnancy, I want to be happy and healthy. Maybe that's asking too much but that's where my head is at." Kim,sighed a bit resting her hand on her very tiny bump. "It's not too much to ask at all. It's what everyone deserves. Hopefully you get answers today." Voight replied knowing they may not answers at all. Though they had some clue already.

They waited till Upton showed up on bated breath. It was tense especially when she showed up for the meeting. "Why am I here?" She snapped. "Officer Upton we are here to try to figure out if we can fix the tension between you and Officer Burgess. Burgess would like to understand why you feel the need to attack her personal life." Platt sat down between the two officers. "Well for starters she got my boyfriend transferred to another district. And now I've been suspended twice because of her!" She yelled. "First calm your tone. You will not talk to us like that. Second Roman did that to himself. He made an inappropriate comment towards his then partner and never apologized. So he was removed. Third you got yourself suspended. You took private information and spread it and commented on the sex life of a fellow officer." Platt took a second to calm herself.

"Now tell me Officer Upton does this have anything to do with your parents and a bankruptcy from 12 years ago?" Voight asked. "I have no idea what you are taking about!" Upton called out. "So this right here is proof that your parents filed for bankruptcy 12 years ago after being sued for negligence. Still not ringing a bell?" Voight asked. "No need to answer. This document shows the plaintiff in that case to be the parents of Officer Burgess. And this shows the amount they won in a trust for their daughter. Are you really going to tell me that has nothing to do with this?" He asked loudly. Kim gasped loudly. Adam just placed his hands on her shoulders trying to steady her. "Really I have no idea what you are talking about!" Upton yelled once more. "Your parents hired my rapist? They didn't run a background check which put me and everyone there at risk of being raped. You are fucking kidding me?" Kim slammed her hands on the table.

"Kim. Try to calm down. Think of the baby and our children. Just try to calm down some." Adam say next to her trying to calm her. "Answer me!" Kim screamed. She moved to stand but Adam kept her seated. "Answer me you bitch!" Kim screamed louder. "You should have just given him what he wanted you stupid bitch! It's your own fucking fault!" Upton screamed back. Kim stood no matter how much Adam tried to hold her back. "It's not my fault! It never was! I was a child. How dare you blame me for this fucking shit! You seriously need help and I can't be here anymore." Kim moved to leave but made one last minute change. She got right in Upton's face slapping her across her face. Leaving everyone stunned. Adam picked her up and carried her from the room. He took her straight to the bullpen and into the break room. The team looking at them trying to figure out what just happened.

He sat her on the couch getting an ice pack for her hand. "Please ice your hand and please try to relax some. I can't say I blame you for that but it might not have been the smartest move. But I'm sure Voight will fix it." He sat next to her hugging her tight. "I'm sorry I just couldn't listen to that anymore. I couldn't have her blame me for what happened. It took years of therapy but it was never my fault. I know that and I refuse to allow that bitch to try and put that on me. So where do we go from here?" Kim asked confused. "Not sure it changes much. We just continue to live our lives and work our jobs. Our family will continue to live, love and grow. What she said changes nothing for me, for us. But now you understand why she's been raging on you. You have answers. They might not be the answers you wanted but you have them." He held her tight noticing she never cried.

The couple stayed together till they saw Voight walking towards them. "Looks like we are going to find out the deal." Adam pointed towards the door. "How are we holding up now?" Voight asked looking at the couple. "Angry but at least I know now. How much trouble am I in?" Kim asked looking conflicted about what she did. "Well it will be a write up in your file it nothing will come of it. Trust me the commander is on your side. And wouldn't take action on this. So let's just move forward. When you are ready you can head down for your shift." He left them alone after that. "What happened?" Kevin asked. "Upton basically told Kim that she should have just given the guy what he wanted and she wouldn't have been raped. Kim flipped her shit and slapped her. Just giving them a minute to relax before she goes back on shift." Voight watched the faces of his team turn to shock. "What's happening to Upton?" Erin asked. "Change of district but we don't have much else." He shrugged unsure what else could be done.

The team headed to the break room to see the couple. "Hey can we come in?" Erin asked. The couple nodded. "We are here for you both. I know it's not the answer you were looking for but at least you know. And now you can leave it behind. Focus on the baby and your family." Jay pulled her up for a hug before everyone hugged her. "I think I'm gonna head down to my desk. It's not perfect by any means but it's an answer. I'm ready to move on." Kim hugged Adam giving him a quick kiss before heading to her desk. They watched her go before turning to Adam. "How ugly did it get?" Antonio asked. "It was brutal. Kim was screaming at her. Calling her a fucking bitch. I tried to hold her back but momma bear was not having it. Upton's lucky to be alive." Adam gave them a knowing look. "Let's just be thankful she didn't kill her and now this is done. You have too many good things going on to worry about Upton anymore. I think this is closure." Al nodded at them.

"Yeah I completely agree! Next week we move so that's all I want to stress about now. My family is happy, healthy and thriving. Moving is all I need to stress over." Adam smiled wide knowing they would be just fine. The team got to work on their current case while Kim worked desk duty. It was nothing glamorous but it helped solve crimes and get justice for the victims. This was what she was meant to do. Help victims anyway she could. Today was going through stolen property and matching it to open cases so the items could be returned to the rightful owners. It was definitely not fun work but all these items meant something to those it was taken from and that brought her joy. After several hours her back was starting to hurt horrible so she decided to take a quick walk towards the front desk. She talked to Platt for a few minutes before asking to be let into the bullpen. Adam had snacks in the fridge for her and she was pretty hungry.

She walked in and headed right to the fridge opening the snack bag Adam had packed for her. She found her fruit right away and headed back towards her desk. She noticed lots of activity in the lobby so she moved behind the counter to prevent getting hit. She made it to her desk and started to eat as she continued to work. She was completely in the zone and didn't realize that Adam was calling her name. "Sorry! I was trying to meant a dent in this work. These people deserve to get their property back." Kim smiled. "Hey it's all good. Platt said your back was hurting and you got some snacks. Are you okay?" He asked concerned. "I'm good. Just hurting from being hunched over looking at this stuff. Might need a massage later but I'm good otherwise." She smiled loving how sweet he was. "Okay well stand up for a minute. Let's see if I can give you some relief." He started to massage her lower back a little bit.

"Thank you baby! I greatly appreciate it!" She giggled. "Well I promise you will get a full rub down later. Just try sitting up straighter while you finish your shift. It will help out more." He wrapped his arms around her. Kissing the side of her head. He wanted to do anything possible to make things better for her. Even if it was only a small help. "You never have to thank me. This is what you do for the ones you love. And you are uncomfortable because of me so this is a small price to pay." Adam turned her around to kiss her properly. "I have to head back upstairs. I will be back later with more snacks." He kissed her again before heading to the bullpen again.

The couple returned to their work Adam trying to solve the case while Kim trying to give people closure by getting their personal items returned. It was tedious but fulfilling since the victims were crying tears of joy getting their beloved possessions back. It made her want to work harder seeing the joy people were getting. It was close to her shift ending when she made a call to a victim only to find the victim had passed away. She was distraught knowing the women passed never getting her necklace back. She full on crying which they all knew was hormones but still she was crying. Platt happened to check on her during that time hugging her tight letting the emotions out. She sent Adam a text to let him know. "Guys heading down to see Kim. Apparently one of the victims passed away before her things could be recovered and Kim's full on crying. Platt's with her now." Adam sighed headed to the break room before leaving. "She's fine. It's her hormones. Once she gets it out she will be fine." Erin tried to assure him. "Oh I know. But I also know a little snack with help too. Going in armed with goodies." He showed the team the food as they all laughed knowing it would help and it was very true. You never came between a pregnant woman and food.

"Darling! It's okay. The family will be thrilled to get this back. It's not your fault. And I know the hormones are crazy right now. So how about you try to eat a little bit okay?" He handed her the food as he sat down next to her. He watched her nod still sniffling. With each small bite the smile got larger. She eventually was bouncing in her seat with happiness again so they left her be. "Okay so healthy snacks fixes that. Good to know. Thanks Ruzek!" Platt had no idea how to handle Kim in that situation. Adam got back upstairs seeing all eyes on him. "She's bouncing with joy. Some smoked cheese, some turkey pepperoni and some crackers fixes everything." He smiled knowing she was happy again. "Good job Ruz!" Kevin smiled knowing he was doing a great job supporting his best friend.

Kim left shortly after she finished her snack. She was at a good stopping point for work and she needed to get the kids from school. As she clocked out she headed for her car feeling lighter than she had the hour before. After she got both kids they headed home. The kids talking the whole way about their days. She loved hearing about their days. It made her happy knowing they were adjusting so well to school and that they were happy. "Alright so the grass is pretty wet right now with all the melted snow so how about we have a dance party while I make snacks for you two?" Kim asked as they entered the garage. "Yes please!" Allie cheered while Riley started to dance in his seat. Kim just laughed getting the kids in the house and turning the music on for the kids.

In the kitchen Kim cut up some fruit and veggies for the kids making them each a plate. She brought them to the table to eat their snacks where both kids continued to talk about their days. Kim only wished Adam was there to see it. He loved it more than she did since he didn't get to hear it as often. After snack time the kids returned to their dance party. Kim took lots of videos to share with both Adam and Eric. Things were still tense with Eric but they were all still trying their best to make the modern family thing work. Kim and Adam never changed how they did things with Eric but he had to adjust to how things were changing. He had to step it up again and he was trying. They would see him tomorrow for the first time since they told him about the baby. It would be awkward for sure but they had to hope it would all work out.

The small family continued to dance till Kim got up to make dinner. Adam had texted that he was on his way home from work. The dead ends were piling up and they needed a break from the case. The kids were ecstatic about dad being home for dinner. He always read the best stories so always listened so intently to their stories about their days. He loved helping them with their latest art projects which seemed to be growing by the day. But neither Kim nor Adam cared because it kept the kids busy and away from the tv. As she made dinner she listened to the music but also the sound of the kids laughing and having fun. And she definitely wouldn't have missed Adam coming home. Because as soon as the door opened both kids screamed his name running for him. It was absolutely adorable. He walked back towards the kitchen with a kid on each hip. "Hey darling! Dinner smells delicious!" He kissed her softly hearing the kids gagging. The couple laughed setting the kids down to run off to dance again.

"Dinners got maybe 20 minutes left if you want to shower." She smiled up at him. "Sounds good. I will be right back." He kissed her softly before heading to their room. He loved to shower after a long day at work. Washing off the stress, truly he needed something stronger but that could wait till the kids were in bed. When he returned he joined the kids who were now crashed on the floor playing with toys, exhausted from dancing around. None of them noticed Kim watching from the kitchen. She took a few photos before stirring dinner once more. It was the end of the week so she was trying to use up the food in the house before heading to the store the next day. She liked to shop on Fridays because Allie was with Eric and she was more free to shop and look. Not forced to rush with an impatient child. It also allowed her to shop in the store and not from the app.

She set the table before calling the family to the table. The kids ran to wash their hands as Adam came to get drinks for everyone. Kim plated the kids meals first allowing them to cool a bit before the kids dug in. Only once everyone was sat did they start to eat. Each kids talking about their day at school. Allie was excited about starting karate and Riley was excited about all the friends he was making. Both taking after their parents. The couple was still very leery about karate but it was only because of the building it was located in. They had agreed that they would take time going to the location together to build up her confidence before she tried it on her own. It also helped that one of the nights for classes was Fridays so Eric could handle that day.

Dinner finished and Kim played a game with the kids as Adam cleaned up after dinner. He could tell something was on her mind. It wasn't a bad something but she was definitely thinking long and hard about whatever it was. He honestly would let her stew for now because she was fine. She was engaged with the kids, she was happy and still nightmare free. So whatever it was was nothing negative. He was confident in that. The loved hearing the laughter from his little family. He loved the glow Kim had laughing with the kids. It was a perfect moment. It was only paused when Eric called to talk to Allie. She was dancing around as she spoke to him as the couple watched chuckling at her antics. It had been a good call and he promised to be there the next day as scheduled. Both Kim and Adam sighed in relief.

As Adam took the kids up to bed Kim laid in the couch with Tiger. She was looking at her phone but was content. She knew Adam loved this time if night so she allowed him this time alone so he could really soak up the one on one time with both kids. He returned an hour later to find Kim still on the phone with the cat still in her lap. He was awake and purring, just shaking up all the scratches he could get. Adam grabbed them drinks before joining her on the couch. "What on your mind darling?" He sat next to her. Close enough to hold her but also see her face. "Well I know I've been back and forth on when to get married. I dint want to be a house but I also want to be married before they come. So I had a crazy idea that I hope yo7 are okay with." She paused allowing him time to process. "Okay so what's this crazy idea?" He was very curious of where her mind was going.

"So I thought maybe we get married just the four of us when we are on vacation. No family, no friends, just us. Then after the baby is born and the baby weight is gone we have a big wedding with everyone. I know it's maybe not how you saw things but I really thought it might be perfect for us. There used to be this church on the sound that has this outside chapel area. That literally over looks the water and boardwalk. What do you think?" She looked up shyly afraid of his reaction but she didn't need to be. "I love it. It's perfect. It's us. It's our relationship. We need to do this. Having everyone go would be too much hassle so the four of us it is. And I love that it's not a courthouse thing. It would still be a church ceremony but in our safe, happy place. It's absolutely perfect." He moved them slightly so he could kiss her long and slow.

"Have you looked into this idea and how it would work?" He asked pulling back slightly still touching though. "A little. It's 75, no wait on the license. Just need a valid license and social security card. But I need to get a hold of the church in Duck to see if they will do it or not. I can also asked the rental company I use if they know of any pastors that will work outside the church. I want the big wedding here but I really want something with just us. And I couldn't dream of anything better than that." Tears were falling but they both knew they were happy tears but also hormone based. Adam wiped her cheeks before kissing her again. They only broke apart because of a meow sound. They both looked to see Tiger quite unhappy about his lack of attention. "Sorry buddy! My bad!" Kim started petting him again but noticed he was moving around to get his chin scratched. "What is it with boy cats and chin rubs? Huh?" Kim smiled before looked back at Adam who was just watching in awe.

"I already knew you were a great mom but watching you with an animal is another level. So tender and so kind, even when he's being a brat. I feel like this is how it will be with a small child. Not sure how he will do with a baby but we will protect the baby for sure." He pet the cat before resting his hand on Kim's small belly. "They have nets you can put over the crib to prevent cats from getting in and we can just keep that room closed off when they are asleep. I'm oddly not worried about that at all. I'm oddly not worried about much right now. Which even for me I know is odd. But I'm just so happy with this life we have. This life we built I feel like I'm free. Free to just live again. I know I still need to work on desensitizing for Allie's karate school. And I know I haven't even tired to face the other trigger but I feel like I'm really in a good place you know?" Kim looked over watching Adam watch her.

"You are in a good place. Probably the best since we got back together. Curious though what last trigger haven't we worked through?" He was very confused he thought they worked through them all. "My throat. Not that you would have reason to grab my throat but I've never let anyone touch it before." She watched the light bulb going off. She had told him that one and he had truly forgotten since it wasn't an issue for him. "Okay well is it something you even want to work on. I see no need to ever grab a woman's throat but if you want to try it to see how you react that's fine. But I really have no need or interest in putting my hands on your throat." He knew people got off like that but he didn't. So he didn't care either way. "I don't see a need for it either but I feel like I want to know if you can just touch it or not. Not grab but caress. I don't know if that makes sense at all but it's something to think about." She had thought about it. What his fingers running down her throat might feel like as he kissed her skin. But he never did. He knew it was a trigger so it never happened.

"Well then you tell me when you want to try it and we will. Maybe a night the kids aren't home just in case." He offered that compromise knowing it could go either way for her and being home without the kids would be better. "I like that plan very much. And yes I will let you know. Also we need to plan that weekend to your grandparents house. Let's get with Voight and Platt to figure out a good weekend to get away. I'm sure the kids would love it." She watched his smile grow wider. "Yes! We have to do that! I kind of forgot with all the craziness but yes tomorrow we will look into days off to go visit." He kissed her full of hunger this time. Tiger was not amused and left her lap. Adam scooped her up and headed for their room. Their body's wrapped together as they fell into their bed. Lips never leaving the others. "Are you sure darling?" The day had been emotional so he wanted to double check. "Yes!" She whispered breathlessly. "Double checking! That momma bear show earlier got me hot and bothered and then making the wedding decision has me needing to bury myself deep inside you. Deeper than ever before." He watched her nod knowing it would be new and different but she was up for most things these days.

They stripped each other rapidly before moving her legs into position against her chest. She felt her legs stretch but not in a bad way as he drove inside her. Not giving her time to adjust just thrusting hard and fast inside her. Truly hitting deeper than anyone has before. Her moans let him know that she was enjoying herself and that she was fine. It ended way quicker than either would have liked but it they were both throughly blissed out. "God damn! I don't think I can walk after that!" Kim sighed heavily. "Well what can I say my wife to be is hot!" Adam kissed her sweaty head rolling them to their sides to enjoy the closeness longer. "Well my hubby to be is pretty damn sexy himself. Especially when he feeds me to make me smile again after a hormone fueled sob fest." She giggled knowing that's exactly what happened earlier. "Ha! Yeah Platt had no clue what to do so she texted me. Food always calms it down quickly. And it's good for you so I'm fine with it." He watched her smiling wide. "This is what I always wanted. Feeling supported, understood. Thank you." She never waited for an answer before crashing her lips on his.

Kim took full control something she knew Adam loved and wanted. She rolled them so Adam was on his back and she had full control over his body. He was surprised at first but had learned that she loved having control and loved having sex with him. It was a welcomed change from the beginning of their relationship where she was so scared all the time. He also knew that pregnancy hormones had been raging and she needed this to calm the storm. He watched as her eyes closed and her head was thrown back as she started to ride him. He loved watching her in these moments. She was even more beautiful because she looked free, happy and in peace. Her movements though caused him to close his eyes enjoying the movements. Enjoying her using her body to get them off. It wasn't long till he sat up wrapping his arms around her.

He wanted to feel every movement. Feel every ragged breath. But mostly he wanted to feel her breasts pressed against his chest. He kissed her hard as she moved up and down, bouncing on him. They were both close and wouldn't last much longer. Adam moved his one hand down to her clit massaging it till she came. It wasn't loud but any means but it was just as earth shattering. He came right behind her never breaking his hold on her body. It has been beautiful, intense, loving and exactly what they needed. As the spasms ended he laid them back down rolling them on to their sides. Trading lazy kisses as they came down from their combined high. He found one spot on her neck that he couldn't stop kissing. He saw it was a scar. One he hadn't noticed before. It was certainly old but he wondered where it came from. She actually had several that he wondered about.

He waited till she was calm again. Lazily drawing patterns on his chest. "Can I ask you something?" He whispered not wanting to scare her. "Yeah anything." She never opened her eyes or moved from his chest. "You have several scars all on the left side of your body. How did you get them?" He asked touching a few of them. "Oh um it was my second year on patrol. I took a buckshot through a door. The pellets sprayed across my cheek, neck, shoulder, chest and arm. Took two surgeries to remove them all. When I woke up I found Voight with three donuts, two glazed and a maple bar and an offer for Intelligence. I thought about it I really did. But I wanted to be there for Allie. My parents were still working and I wasn't sure I could do daycare after what happened to me. So I chose to stay on patrol." Kim looked up seeing the surprise on his face. "What? I told you after we reconnected that I was shot on the job." She was confused as to his face.

"I guess I wasn't expecting it to be so many spots and two surgeries. Sounds scary for sure. I wish I had been there. I would have never left your side." He moved to kiss each scar. "Well we can't change the past remember? We just move forward, together. And hope like hell it never happens again." She was pretty sure she was in the clear for a while on that since she was on desk duty but she didn't want him shot either. It was stress none of them needed. The couple continued to hold each other as they drifted off to sleep. Never breaking the connection. The both needed it after hearing about her shooting. She hated reliving it and he hated hearing about it. But they needed to talk about it. Probably should have months ago but they did now and they moved on. It was the past and it needed to be forgotten once more.
