Sesshomaru knelt down to be closer to her face. "Kagome,"
She was humming, then smiled as the tiny baby took her finger. He wasn't even sure she knew he was there.
"Isnt he beautiful,"
She was talking to him like he was. It was clear that she though he was in her mind, something she drew up as part of her heaven. Her wants and desires.
"Kagome, I do not have much time,"
She didnt respond,
"Time," She whispered,
"If I could bring you back, would you want to go,"
"Go?"
"Home,"
"We are home, silly," She rocked the baby,
He stood and ran his hand through his hair. "Return to me, be my mate,"
God, was it really too late?
"Kagome,"
"Time," She whispered. "All that time,"
"You dont even know I am here," He turned away, then turned back to her. She stood now, facing him, baby gone.
"I know you're here," Her face was stern,
"Kagome,"
"You had all the time in the world, and now you ask?" She looked at her hands "Im dead Sesshomaru, this is my wold now, they are my children,"
"Yet I did not give them to you,"
"You could have,"
"I will,"
"Im dead,"
"I will free you,"
"You mean you have regrets, and now you wish to be selfish,"
"If wanting my mate with me is selfish, then yes Miko,"
She looked away.
"You said you would always love,"
She closed her eyes. "I do," She whispered. "But I dont want to be clay and bone," She would have shed a tear, but there was no crying in heaven.
"I will defeat the demons within the jewel and bargian for you,"
"Are you telling me or asking me?"
"Do you want to bear my children,"
She laughed; that was Miroku's line,
"You would do anything for me?" She asked,
"Hn,"
"Then I will do anything for you," She turned away and sat back down; the baby and older child appeared again in the fog; he knew it was time to go.
The baby cried, "Dont worry, Daddy will be back soon,"
He worried. Was the conversation real? Did she understand?
He felt a tug, and he knew he had to leave. He turned away, and she looked back.
"You want to cry," His father said,
"Does he not know,"
"If it were easy, he would never learn,"
"What if I dont want to leave,"
"Then dont,"
She looked at his father. "But I love him,"
"And he is desperately in love with you,"
"He doesn't know,"
"You will not be clay,"
"But I have to be reborn,"
"And grow,"
"What if he doesn't love me anymore,"
"Kagome,"
"What if I dont remember,"
"Soulmate, always remember,"
"He said he didnt have a soul,"
"Maybe not, but you are his heart,"
"Then why did he let it stop beating,"
"Because he realized a little too late what he knew all along," She could have told him too; they dance around each other, her to spare him, him because of pride. It was fear on both sides. What felt so wrong but so right.
"What do I do now?"
"You wait, child, for he will find you or dying trying,"
"Will I be sad,"
But he did not answer, for he, too, faded away into the fog. Kagome sat there a moment and then, she forgot it all and looked back down at her baby.
"You have forgotten already, Miko; no sadness can touch you here, but fret not her soul, for when you kiss, the heart will remember,"
If Sesshomaru died trying, Kagome would be none the wiser here in heaven, but if he succeeded and he was able to get her to fall in love with him again, it would unlock her past life.
But with anything of power and magic, there was a price. Kagome would have to be reborn, grow, and learn, and he would have to work for her love, but he did not know that yet.
