Holding the jewel in his hand, he prepared.
"Anything I should do?" Inuyasha asked,
"If I do not return within three years-
"Oi, you better return your taking my sword!"
He looked at his brother. "If I do not return,"
"Yeah, yeah, get rid of the jewel, got it." Though he wasn't sure how he would do that. "Just come back and save me the trouble,"
"Hn,"
Sesshomaru dropped the jewel and pointed his brother's sword at it, and tapped the jewel. Inuyasha stood back as a portal opened, and Sesshomaru did not think twice; he walked into it, and it closed behind him.
It was dark but he could feel the energy. It was massive. Good and evil, right and wrong, power and weakness. It was a battle.
Suddenly a ground of demons appeared, moving slowly in the distance. Then the jewel's creator, the Miko, appeared. Her armor was impressive, her sword mightily. She to took to the dark void to attack.
She then looked over. "Why have you entered here, demon? State your purpose,"
The demons asked the same of him.
"I have come to bargain," He said,
The Miko narrowed her eyes. "What you ask for is dangerous,"
The demons whispered they could give him what he wanted, but wisely, he ignored them.
The Miko did not look amused. "Bargain, what right do you have to ask?"
"I will defeat them and release you,"
"Demon Lord, do you think it is that easy?"
He said nothing,
"You would die to save her,"
"I am here, am I not?" He moved the sword lightly, and she looked at it. "The sword of heaven," She whispered. "You may try demon Lord, but know I have been in here for long that you have been alive,"
It was a risk he was willing to take. As his father said, what use was all this power if you didnt use it for something good?
Sesshomaru would not fight alone; the Miko would help.
He could touch the sword, but he hoped it would react as it had once before.
Channeling his power and his wants, the sword grew in size and power, and he smirked and swiped. Hundreds of demons vanished, but more just kept coming more and more, Thousands and thousands.
"Do you not see, Lord," She spoke. "When no one holds the jewel, it is never ending; when she held the jewel, I was winning; when Naraku held the jewel, they were winning; it is a balance,"
"Are you telling me there is no way to win?"
She smiled and went back to fighting.
He could win. The jewel never had power over him, but the truth was that Miko had hope that he would be the one. A soul dark turned to light.
Sesshomaru never stopped. With the jewel creator by his side, they made way. He didnt know how long, and he didnt slow down. He didnt grow hungry, but ever so often, he felt a shift in his energy. The sword held fast for a long time. But days turned into weeks, that turned into months, that bled into years.
His eyes slowly bled, his markings went jagged, and his demonic side took over.
The Miko worried when he turned his red eyes to her.
"You are doing this for her," She said. "Remember, Kagome,"
Sesshomaru fought on and on and on.
Outside, Inuyasha grew worried. He could not wait years; he had a building built around the jewel, and many monks and Mikos protected it, but he was never too far away in case they needed help.
He came and went, always a watchful eye for anyone who would slip to gain its power. They could all feel it, the war inside.
Somedays it felt like the jewel was winning, someday he swore his brother would come out the victor, yet day after day the jewel stayed as a powerful becon. No winner, no loser. But at least his brother wasnt dead, at least not yet.
When his mother came down from her clouded home, the Monk and Mikos feared guarding the jewel back to back, but Inuyasha came and stood next to her, calming their fears somewhat.
"He still fights for her,"
"There ain't no way to pull him out," Inuyasha said,
"He will have to choose that, fight or die,"
"Well, he ain't going to die,"
His mother turned. "You have such faith in your brother; tell me, have you come to care for him?"
"I didnt give him my sword for no reason, lady,"
"Then I will leave him to you," She vanished.
Inuyasha sighed. He hoped it would end soon because Inuyasha didn't know how long he would live.
