With power brings responsibility. Kagome had power, and a lot of it, and she needed training. But finding the right Miko to train her would be hard. Her father had not been thrilled with the news; her mother simply smiled.
Konna had to warn Kagome to be careful. At night, when they all slept, Konna hopped down from the roof, staying a little further away from Kagome till she learned control. She found Sesshomaru.
"Where should I take her?"
There were not many around anymore.
"I shall ask mother,"
Konna raised her eyebrows. "You have a mother?"
He never understood why everyone asked him that.
"Come, girl,"
She shrugged her shoulders but followed.
His mother greeted them as coldly as ever. "Oh, Sesshomaru, you are alive,"
Kona's mouth dropped open, which made his mother look at her. "A halfbreed?"
Her ears went flat.
"Inuyasha's" Sesshomaru told her,
"I thought he had a human child?"
"He did," Her son told her.
She looked between them but did not press more, simply because she did not care.
"So, you won," She stated,
"Indeed,"
"Why are you here?"
"The Miko needs a miko,"
She stared. "And you think I keep one?"
"i have long been gone, or have you forgotten,"
Konna watched the two in bewilderment.
His mother turned from him. "You ask a lot of favors, pup,"
Konna cringed,
Sesshomaru stayed silent.
His mother waved her hand. "Take her to where the well once stood, there is a small shrine there,"
Without a word, Sesshomaru vanished.
Konna stayed for a second longer. "Um, thanks?"
His mother glanced back for a mere second before ignoring her and walking off.
Sesshomaru went straight there to check the place out. True to her words, there was a shrine built around the well and the God tree. If he recalled, Kagome's once home in the future was said to be just like this. Their future was now altered and she would never come through that well.
But he was sure this is where she belonged, for now.
He told Konna what to do.
So Konna packed Kagome up and went to the shrine. They were not accepting at first, till Konna said her name. Whispers flew, and they took Kagome in without question.
Konna returned to her uncle "Well, she will be there for a few years more,"
"You will stay,"
"I dont think im allowed,"
"Do not be fooled; they know who she is, who I am, and what I want with her,"
After all, they protected the jewel while he was in it. The story, the legend, had been told.
Konna looked up at him, and he looked down at her and her twitching ears.
"They will think to turn her, you are to stay as a reminder of who she really is,"
Konna tucker her head to the side. "But what if she isn't the same?"
He looked away and said nothing.
Konna's ears went flat. He didnt want to think of the possibility.
So with her fathers last plea in mind, she returned to the shrine. Never going in but staying close. She saw Kagome only when she came out of the shine which was almost daily. After a few months the Monk and Mikos even ended up using her as a training tool.
Thankfully, in the first few months, Kagome did not change, but her control did grow, as did her power.
Sesshomaru stayed close as well but never seen. He knew they knew. His presence was her protection and their warning.
Often, at night, he would stand outside the walls, near where her room would be, and let his power dance. Sometimes, he felt nothing; sometimes, he knew she noticed.
Kagome knew his signature, and he remembered hers.
