Chapter 605 Resurrection

Scarlett pulled into the parking lot at TM. Jax wiped his hands on a rag and walked out to where she was standing beside her van.

"And to what do I owe the pleasure of your company?" Jax asked giving her his killer grin.

"I just wanted to see that handsome face of yours," Scarlett retorted.

"Uh-huh," Jax said skeptically raising an eyebrow.

"OK, I bring news. Tara's alive again."

Jax opened his eyes to express his surprise. It was the same expression he used when confronted by law enforcement about club crimes that he knew they'd done and the cops would never be able to prove.

"How did that happen?" he asked although he knew the answer to the question.

"David faked her death to protect her until he had enough to make arrests."

"Did he arrest everyone?"

"He made a good enough start that she's safe. He arrested Dr. Namid, Margaret and Eric. He's also linked the death of a man that Steve shot. That's self-defense but because the man was killed while committing a felony, they are looking at trying at least Namid and Eric for murder under the felony murder rule."

"Yeah, gotta love that felony murder rule," Jax said drily. "They don't kill Tara and get tried for the murder of one of their own. Is it official?"

"Yeah, you can tell people. Tara called me and told me. She's back in her house. She was at PD when they arrested Namid and faced him. Eric's singing and Margaret's ratting her little rat heart out. Turns out this is even bigger than Tara suspected. There's a whole network. Some of the parents may face charges and after the news conference this afternoon, St. Thomas is going to take a huge hit."

"The town needs a hospital. I hope it just only takes down the neonatal unit."

"I never understood why anyone would come to St. Thomas for that kind of surgery when Oakland and San Francisco have excellent top tier hospitals. It just seemed like it didn't fit."

"Maybe the whole unit was a cover for the body parts and baby killing business. That makes more sense than small town Charming having a neonatal surgical unit."

"That makes a lot of sense," Scarlett said thoughtfully. "I guess we'll learn more as David's investigation plays out."

"Thanks for the official word."

"I know you weren't a fan of this plan, but at least it's over."

"Thanks for the heads up."

"I'm going to be late tonight. I'm going to do some grocery shopping for Tara. She's on crutches and the grocery store has mobile scooters, but she doesn't want to go out in public just yet."

"Why don't you stop by Fast Food Palace and get some foot long chili dogs and onion rings on your way home?"

"Typical man. Always thinking with his stomach."

"That's an improvement for me. I usually think with the part of my anatomy that's a bit lower."

"Don't I know it," Scarlett said laughing before getting in her van and driving off.

Jax walked back to the garage less than pleased by the news. When the plan was put together that day in the hospital sitting beside Tara in her room, it was designed to give him and Scarlett deniability.

Hale was going to take the credit and blame for faking Tara's death under the excuse that it was the only way to make her feel safe. There was some truth to that. Tara was sure there would be another attempt on her life if word got out she was alive.

He hated to see the career boost this was going to give Hale, but he had no control over that. What he needed was control over Hale in the form of leverage so Hale would understand even when he took over for Unser, he would be under SAMCRO's thumb. They just needed to find that leverage.
