"Lil, this is a horrible idea." Sage said, staring at the toy gun in his hands.
"Correction: it's a horrible mistake made in history that we're reenacting." Lilac said cheerfully.
Purple sighed. These were his friends.
Purple and his four friends, Sage, Saffron, Ruby, and Lilac had been assigned to do some historical moments as part of a history project. While Purple and Ruby seemed interested in doing an election that had the country on the edge of their seats, Saffron and Lilac convinced the three to do a historical duel.
Sage further shortened their project to the 1778 duel between John Laurens and Charles Lee. Lilac was ecstatic about the decision, and quickly got everything put together. She got the guns, assigned the roles, and put Purple in charge of recording.
"Lilac, are we sure we're supposed to be recording this?" Ruby said, standing next to Purple. "The professor didn't say recording was-"
"You weren't there when he discussed turning shit in," Lilac said, taking position. "One of our members is supposed to record the project while the other four participate. And seeing as Purple's overprotective dad would murder us if we put him on camera getting shot, we're making him record."
"King knows what I'm doing. He gave me and Ruby the idea of doing an election to begin with." Purple said, smiling fondly to himself.
What would he do without King and his great ideas?
"Isn't this also the King that...tried to destroy an entire video game because it took his biological son from him?" Lilac said.
"And then tried to kill you right afterwards?" Ruby added.
"And I wonder why you four are my friends." Purple said to himself.
"Hey, I find it pretty cool that your dad made a staff, made an entire kingdom, and then made an entire black hole as well as negative versions of mobs." Saffron said.
"Me, too! I could never do something like that." Sage added.
"Are we going to admire how cool my guardian is, or are we going to record a duel?" Purple snapped.
"Oh, right! Places, gentlemen!" Lilac shouted. "Everyone remember who they are?"
"Lilac is Laurens, Sage is Lee, as we've established through some unspoken 'Lilac hates Sage' statement. Anyways, Ruby and I are the seconds, and Purple's the cameraman."
"Exactly. And I don't hate Sage. Why the hell would we decide that?"
"Because you shoot him in the ribs?" Purple deadpanned.
"Because you seem to have a resting bitch face of "I'm gonna beat the shit out of you" whenever you look in his direction?"
"Okay, okay! Can we get this over with? It's cold out here."
"Whatever."
"Oh, oh! Can we sing the Ten Duel Commandments?!" Ruby said.
"No. This isn't supposed to be long. Let's just get to the point and call it good. Ready, Purple?!"
"Ready!"
"And three, two, one! Action!"
It could've gone better.
The recording went off without a hitch and everything went well. Everything about it looked realistic enough to pass the assignment.
And then an earthquake started.
"Wait...an earthquake?! But how?!" Ruby shouted, helping Purple pack the camera.
"Does it matter?! We gotta get out of here!" Lilac shouted back, already stuffing the guns into her bag. "Just finish packing up the tripod and let's go!"
Purple tossed the tripod stand back into the bag and zipped it shut. Ruby grabbed the bag and pulled Purple to his feet.
"Saffron, call your mom! None of us live close enough to take shelter!" Lilac screamed.
The ground cracked beneath them.
"Ruby, run!" Sage shouted.
Ruby and Purple continued chasing after them. "Come on, almost there!"
Another crack. This one opened the ground wider.
"Shit!"
"Ruby!" Purple jumped to grab her, but missed.
And fell.
"Purple!"
"Ruby, grab him!"
Ruby snagged onto Purple's bag, but lost her grip.
"Fuck!"
Ruby couldn't see him anymore.
All she could hear were police sirens as the ground stopped shaking.
Purple's back made contact with hard and pokey ground below him.
"Ow! Fuck!"
Well, at least his bag was safe. He quickly opened it to make sure everything was intact.
All of his papers and everything were safe, and his phone was still intact.
"Oh, thank Becker you still work!" He said to himself, scrambling to open his messages app.
Only then did he realize that he had no signal.
"Oh for the love of-!"
"Mama?"
Purple blinked. "Hello?"
Purple took in his surrounding area. A forest, and clearly in a colder month. If he had to guess, it would have to be between early-December and mid-March, because it was freezing cold.
"Hello? Anyone...here?"
"Mama? Dad?"
A little kid...? But, it's freezing out here? Who in hell is that irresponsible with their child?
"Hello?"
The little kid in question came into view. He was wearing a very over-sized blue coat, and Purple instantly recognized it as a better-made army coat he and King had worked together on making for his history project.
He had long, curly red hair reaching his shoulders, and he looked to be maybe five or six. Four, even.
"Hey, little guy," He said, mustering up the gentlest voice he could muster. He felt like a mix between his mother's behavior after his father fought him, or King and his gentle approach towards Purple. "What's your name?"
The little boy looked at him, fearfully. "A-Alexander Hamilton.."
Purple blinked.
Okay, what the fuck happened that put me with a child version of Alexander frickin Hamilton.
"Okay, uhm...do you know what year it is? Or how you got here? Or...where your parents are?"
"No..I just woke up here and you were here.."
"Okay, uhm...how do we figure out where I am..." Purple said to himself.
It was gonna be a long day.
