*POV BELLA*
I wake up before my alarm goes off. Jess and I had a good time talking on the phone last night. She enjoyed my playlist from the other night and asked for some more songs. We played though a couple on my list and talked about life. I quickly hopped out of bed to shower and get ready. Then it hits me, my car. Shit I hope they dropped it off. I look out the window and see my baby in the driveway. I send Rosalie a quick thank you text. And one to Jess that I'm on my way. She replies that she has breakfast for me. I smile at the thought. It's something about the little things. When I pull up, she's in a simple tee and jeans. I notice how the jeans hug her just right. This time I give her a peck on the cheek and take her bag from her. I open her door and wait for her to get in. Everything is just so easy with us. If only imprinting was this simple. I run over and get in. We exchange small talk on the way to the school. Because of my speeding, we make it early so we decide to hang out by my car. She made me a breakfast burrito and it's very delicious. She laughs at me as I spill some on my chin. As she reaches to wipe it off, we hear Alice's car. She leans in and says show time so low I can barely hear it. I smile down at her and hope the plan works. I see out the corner of my eye Alice and Edward walking over. She has on pink, and I must say it suits her. I feel my wolf get excited.
Alice: you know if you keep eating like that, I'll have to get you a bib.
Jess: its ok Alice, I'll be here to clean her up.
I look down at her and just smile. Before I take another bite.
Alice: first cookies and now burritos. Are you trying to make her fat?
Jess: not at all. Besides, have you seen her abs? I doubt she'll lose them with just cookies and burritos. Don't worry, we can work them carbs out later. Or we can leave the cushion for the winter.
She looks up at me and I chuckle at her boldness. I see Alice's eyes turn black, but she quickly shuts them and they turn back to their regular honey color. Was Jess, right?
Bella: I can think of a way or 2.
Alice: I have to get to class.
Alice turns and walks away leaving just us with Edward. He looks from Alice to me to Jess and has a puzzling look. I feel Jess shift next to me and wonder if it's because she doesn't want Edward thinking bad about her.
Edward: are you 2 really together?
Jess looks at me and I just stare at Edward. Did he see something in Jess' thoughts. I'm unable to tell Jess to be careful with her thoughts without telling her how he knows.
Bella: we don't know yet. We're seeing where this goes. Come on Jess, we have to get to class.
I grab Jess' hand, and we walk to the lockers. Jess leans into me and says good job. I just shake my head and we walk to class. We walk in and go to our seats. Rosalie looks at me and then at Jess.
Rose: that outfit looks good on her.
Knowing that Alice and Edward are next door listening. I just reply "you should've seen her on Saturday." I can't help the smile I get when thinking about it.
Rose: and yet all you did was kiss?
Bella: I have a 3-date rule.
We both share a laugh.
Rose: So, when is date #2?
Bella: hopefully soon. If she dresses like she did on the first date, I don't know if I'll be able to wait for the 3rd date.
Jess: do you think Alice got upset? Was it too much?
Bella: I think she might have. We shall see. Good work though. You're an awesome fake gf.
Jess turns and gives me a smile. I just chuckle and shake my head. Crap! Edward can't read my mind, but she can read Jess'.
Edward: you got some explaining to do bud.
Bella: fuck, I know. Just between us thought please.
Edward: let's go for a walk after class.
Bella: skipping class, our fathers would have both our heads.
Edward: I think we'll both survive. Walk Jess to class and meet me by your car.
When class ends, I walk Jess to her next class. She catches me off guard when she leans in to kiss me. I look at her puzzle, but she walks into class and that's when I see Alice. Looking over at us. I walk out the building and head to meet Edward. Knowing he just saw the whole thing in Jess' and Alice's mind. When he sees me, he walks into the woods. I look around quickly and just follow. We get about 3 miles in, and he turns to me.
Edward: explain.
Bella: it's a long story.
Edward: we have time.
Bella: fine but please not a word.
Sigh. I start from the beginning. Explain the whole wolf imprinting. How it started when I smelled her in the woods. And how the minute I saw her, it was an instant love. At least on my side. Told him about how I feel every time I see her and Jasper. How Jess thinks she likes me but she's with Jasper. How, yes Jess and I aren't together for real and it's all to make Alice jealous. In hopes that it makes her realize or accept her feeling for me. Or hell, even develop some feelings for me. That I know it's not right but it's the best I can do right now. I even tell him about the kiss, the real kiss. When I stop talking, he just stares at me. He stares for what feels like forever before finally speaking.
Edward: wow…. I can understand why you're doing it and honestly you have my full sympathy Bella. I can't imagine what it must feel like for you. I do know a little about the wolf imprint. I've seen it before. In your great great grandfather's mind. Him and Carlisle actually talked a great deal about it… if she is your imprint, I'm sure she'll feel it too. Maybe it's just a different timeline with us being vampires. I'm honestly surprised it's happened between you two. Look Bella, I've known Alice for over 100 years now…
Bella: jeez you guys are old! *He raises an eyebrow* Sorry sorry, continue.
Edward: I've never seen Alice with anyone…
Bella: besides Jasper.
Edward: yeah sure. I've never seen Alice smile with anyone the way she does with you. The way she lights up with you. I see the way she looks at you. And the way you look at her. I see the jealousy. In BOTH of you. I don't think Alice realizes her feelings are more than friend feelings yet but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. You just have to be patient. For the record though Bella, if you hurt her, I will hurt you. And I'm sure Rose will help. I don't agree with this method but knowing my stubborn sister, it's possibly the only way.
Bella: for the record Edward, I could never hurt her.
Edward: welcome to the family little sis.
He pulls me into a hug, and I playfully push him away.
Bella: not family yet. By the way, I'm going to tell Esme you made me cut class.
Edward: key word, yet and that's fine. I'll tell her why. I'm sure she'll forgive me.
Bella: uh Edward, why would you help me? Considering Jasper is your family too.
He rubs the back of his neck.
Edward: when Alice came to us, it was because she had a vision of us. After some time, she told Rose and I about her very first vision. It was you, Bella. She draw you and for years we looked for you. We never knew what role you would play in her life, but we knew you would be someone important. When we saw you that day, Rose and I both knew. Yes, you look different because of your wolf. But it was you. We've been just teasing her this whole time… Jasper is great but if you're really her mate, she deserves to be happy. She's my little sister and my best friend. I just want her happy. Rose and I will help you and Jess if you want.
Bella: I know this whole tricking her thing sucks, but I only want her to be with me if she wants to be with me. My wolf would be anything she wants us to be. Even if it hurts me. I just have to have her in my life. Right now, my wolf is being an idiot and not letting this whole romantic thing go. But if at the end, she only wants me as a friend. That's all I'll be.
Edward: jeez this whole imprint thing suck.
Bella: tell me about it.
We talk a little about mine and Jess' plan. He suggests a couple of things. Like inviting Jess to sit with us at lunch. I consider it but at the same time don't know how that would go with her being surrounded with vampires. He tells me what he knows about the imprint gene. And oddly its more than Billy has been able to tell me. I'm sure it has to do with him being able to see it in other's minds. Billy never imprinted. He fall in love the good old fashion way. We start heading back to the school right in time for lunch.
Edward: are you going to sit with Jess?
Bella: maybe, want to sit with us?
Edward: sure, it'll make lunch interesting.
Lunch goes by pretty smooth. I feel the stares in the back of my head. At one point Emmitt comes over and introduces himself to Jess. When lunch is over, I walk Jess to her class. Alice and Jasper are walking behind us. Jess leans into me and honestly it's nice. When we get to her class door, she kisses my cheek and that she'll see me after class. I smile at her and just watch her sit down. Alice and Jasper walk pass me, Alice leans more into Jasper. Did she do it on purpose? My wolf growls but I push it down. I walk pass them and sit down next to Edward. He looks over to Alice and gives me a sympathetic look. When Alice sits down, she looks at me to say something but I just keep reading. Leah said play hard to get. And I shall…
Edward: hey Bella, want to come over and watch a movie?
I see Alice perk up at the suggestion.
Bella: maybe not today. I want to check in with the pack and maybe hang out with Jess.
She quickly looks away and Edward gives me a smirk. She doesn't say anything all period and I can't help but feel bad for my actions. Stay tough Bella. Stay tough. When class ends, I run over to meet Jess at her class. She grabs my hand, and we head outside. Alice and Edward trail behind us.
Jess: want to come over tonight? I can cook us dinner and we can finally watch that movie you owe me.
Bella: I'll let you know; I have some work to do. This weekend for sure though.
Alice walks pass us, and I swear I see a smile on her face. On my way to drop off Jess, I tell her about Edward knowing. Of course, leaving out the part of him reading her mind. She feels more confident now that Edward believes Alice likes me too. She thinks it won't be long before Alice comes around. I smile as I leave her house and head over to the Res. I run around with the guys a bit before heading to Leah's house. When I leave, I send Charlie a quick text that I'll pick up dinner and see him at home. He lets me know he'll be late and to eat without him. I decide to shower quickly before eating. As I come back upstairs with my food, I smell her. I can't help the shit faced grin I get.
*POV ALICE*
I debate for an hour before heading over to her house. Besides this morning, I didn't get a chance to say much to her all day. It felt like Jess or Jasper were there at every turn. And honestly, I just missed her. I look to see if Bella's home or if she did go to Jess'. When I see her walking in with food, I make up my mind. I speed over to her house. Jump in through her window and wait for her to come back upstairs. The smile on her face lets me know I made the right choice.
Bella: you know, you can come in through the front door.
Alice: now what fun will that be?
Bella: I'm sure a heart attack is less fun but pleasant surprise to see you here pixie.
Alice: really? Or would you prefer Jess?
Bella: I enjoy time with you. So, what's going on with you?
Alice: just wanted to see my best friend. Since she was busy all day with her gf.
Bella: she's not my gf, we're just talking.
Alice: seems like your gf.
Bella: we'll see.
I wait for Bella to finish eating before I pull out our homework. We talk about her childhood and my traveling. It sounds like she was a very clumsy kid till she phased. Charlie gets home just as we finish. He knocks on the door and smiles when he sees me. Ask me if I'm staying over because he enjoyed my breakfast the other day. I smile and just say it would be my pleasure. She goes downstairs to fix Charlie a plate and hops in the bed with me after. We continue our conversation from before. When I see her eyes start to close, I tell her to go to sleep. She looks at me through sleepy eyes, asking if I really will be staying and I response with "only if you want me to". She doesn't answer, she just grabs my hand and pulls me back on the bed to lay next to her. I have to stop the urge to cuddle next to her. Instead, I grab a book and relax next to her. Soon the only sound I hear is her heartbeat. I wonder if she'll say my name tonight and in less than an hour, she does.
Jasper: where are you?
Edward: Jasper is looking for you.
I sigh and debating if I should reply. I see that Jasper will come looking for me if I don't.
Alice: I'm out. See you at school tomorrow.
Jasper: hmmm
Edward: he knows you're with Bella.
I turn off my phone and focus back on Bella's heartbeat. She says my name 3 more times before the night is over. At one point she rolls over closer to me, and I feel her friend rock hard next to my leg. My mind goes back to my shower the first day I was here. Want flows through me and I know I should leave. But I can't. Instead, I slowly get up and sit at the desk. Looking over to her and wondering what she's dreaming about. I hear Charlie waking up and I head downstairs to start breakfast. We sit down and chat about the town while he eats. I hear Bella waking up just as Charlie's finishing his plate. I managed to make him some lunch and he smiles at me as he takes the bag. As he heads out, he tells me I'm welcome to spend the night anytime and to have a good day at school. I hear Bella get in the shower and decide to fix her plate for her. When she comes down, she takes the seat Charlie was in.
Bella: good morning, thanks for breakfast.
Alice: I did it for Charlie not you.
She throws a piece of bacon at me, and I throw it back at her.
Alice: so how did you sleep?
She looks at me and I see nervousness?
Bella: I slept well. I would ask about you, but you don't sleep.
Alice: my night was pleasant. You know you talk in your sleep.
She stops mid bite and just looks at me.
Bella: what did I say?
Alice: I don't know. It was a mumble.
I see relief cross her face and I just smile. I tell her I have to go home; shower and I'll see her at school. In all honesty I have to go hunt. After last night, I need it. I spot a couple of deer on my way home and go after the bigger buck. After 3 bucks, I'm full. Esme is sitting in the living room. "Another night with Bella? You know she can spend the night here. Tell her Hey for me next time." I smile and head upstairs. The hot steam makes her scent stronger. It completely surrounds me and before I know it, I'm thinking about Bella saying my name. I wonder what she was dreaming about that made her hard and say my name. I start touching myself and it doesn't take me long to climax with just the thought of her. I take a minute to catch my breath. And not a second later, guilt slowly creeps in. Sigh, I quickly shower with my body wash to get her scent off of me. I dress quickly. Have 5 minutes to get to school and I make it right on time to see Jess and Bella walking to class. Everything this morning just fades into the back.
