Chapter 3 is done, I'm actually liking how this is going so far. If you have any ideas then let me know. For now, I will continue with my ideas.
I do want to make this clear, about Munfurawa's fighting style, and his strengths and weaknesses. He will not theoretically be able to beat Ayanokouji, but also will likely not fight him at all. Both rely on an aggressor to activate their "will" to fight. The other possibility is their good will to others. However, they both are similar in those views, and despite suspicions and distrust from both sides, they have similar goals and views, meaning they won't fight because of conflicting views. So do not expect Ayanokouji to beat down Munfurawa. He will honestly be more comparable to the other white room students, like Ichika Amasawa, or Kazuomi Hosen. He also has a similar mysterious persona around him, like Koenji Rokusuke, so perhaps keep up with them but struggle.
He specializes in kicking, rather than punches, and will use his arms to block, or grab opponents, allowing him to kick them. In particular, the velocity and snaps of his kicks are enough to rattle the insides of someone's body. He has incredibly fast reflexes, and can feel the air around him, making sucker punches ineffective to him. He also has a very high endurance and agility, which I'll explain why later.
Anyways, here's chapter 3.
Chapter 3: The Midterms
Third Person POV:
The month was already given a bunch of drama. To the dismay of everyone, the classes' weekly private points gain had fallen to 0, meaning Class 1-D was receiving no class points whatsoever.
This was somewhat significant, as beforehand, most of the class were enjoying themselves, in the swimming pool or acting like school was the easiest thing in the world.
Now, they were seeing the consequences of their actions. And Munfurawa was also there to suffer because he was a part of the class.
The solution to regaining private points. It was simple, take studying seriously, and not always have fun outside of school. Do well on the assessments and special exams, and your class could get bumped into the next category.
In the events leading up to this, the sheer amounts of people joining the martial arts room had tripled, from roughly five to fifteen. The spread from class was as followed, including first and second years.
Class A: 5 (two 2nd years, three 1st years)
Class B: 4 (three 2nd years, one 1st year)
Class C: 2 (two 2nd years)
Class D: 4 (one 2nd year, two 1st years)
Due to the increase in regular attendance, the martial arts room was forced to expand, and become a whole new club.
Of course, with everyone doing different martial arts, like taekwondo, karate, judo, and more, the school decided that putting them all into one was easier. This made some of the members upset, but they then realized it meant everyone could learn different aspects of different martial arts, allowing them to learn off each other.
Munfurawa was learning multiple karate and judo techniques, which allowed him to use his hands more effectively. He still resorted and preferred his kicking techniques, but it gave him more variety.
He particularly liked Judo, grabbing opponents in the right areas to maximize the amount of damage he could give off, but he lacked the muscle and strength to lift opponents. He would need to do more muscle development if he wanted to do so.
Regardless, while he didn't talk much to the other club mates now, he did learn a lot, as each would have their own days willingly to teach the others how to do some techniques from their own section of martial arts, whether it was kung-fu, judo, or karate.
When it came to him, and others wanting to learn taekwondo, Munfurawa would merely go to the punching bag, and showcase a kick.
He never really said much, as he felt it was irrelevant. Of course, teaching each other wasn't mandatory, and thus they could only pressure him into teaching them some techniques, which he declined for obvious reasons.
As Munfurawa finished his martial arts, he eventually found himself in quite the interesting area of the school. It was a specific room, where a lot of individuals were within the area. Because Munfurawa put on a mask he had worn before, the same one he used to protect himself whenever he went out. Thus, many of the individuals did not know who this masked person was.
"Who the hell are you?" One of the larger men asked, approaching the newcomer.
"Is this a betting club?" Was all Munfurawa asked.
The man eyed him before nodding, "What, are you hear to critique us?" The individual was clearly on edge, and on the defense.
Munfurawa shook his head, "No, I'm here to bet for private points."
The individual seemed shock, before relaxing, "Very well, what year are you in?"
"1st year, got 100,000 private points, what exactly are we betting on?" Munfurawa asked, eyeing a chess board. Munfurawa could already tell what they were betting on.
"Place some private points down, and you will play against the better on the chessboard." The individuals spoke, "You can face him, he put 50,000 private points on the sideline."
Munfurawa nodded, before he approached the other end of the chessboard. Not speaking too much, he put 50,000 private points, meaning he could get up to 150,000 private points.
However, since Munfurawa had played a lot of chess within his dojo, don't ask how or why, but he had the experience on what others do for their moves.
To say they were experience, it simply was not true. He had beaten them nonstop five times. He know had 350,000 private points.
"Well, I think it's late, I'm heading out now, thank you." Was all Munfurawa said, not hearing the others confused about his identity.
In the end, he had added 250,000 private points to his account.
In general, after the days had past, once the revelation that they wouldn't get their private points, it did seem like Class 1-D, was finally taking their studies seriously. Of course, there were the occasional ones who still didn't agree with most of the class, but Munfurawa could care less.
He simply didn't need to change his habits and schedule, as he had already been scoring consistently high in his assessments.
The only thing different about these midterms were the fact that the class was going to try, meaning the average may be higher.
Of course, Munfurawa didn't care, he was fine in the subjects required and taught.
He excelled in the sciences, like chemistry, alongside mathematics, did fine in civics, and only English and modern grammar may stump him, but he wasn't too worried.
He felt confident in his abilities, to study hard and get a good mark as a result. He just needed to be in the middle, meaning he would have to score higher. This just became a game of prediction.
Was this going to change how he studied? Perhaps not. Maybe he may focus a bit more to get a stronger grade, but he didn't care.
What he did care about was the serious, cold girl and the emotionless boy creating a study group. Like hell he was going to join. He had never studied with others in the past, and he wasn't going to again right now.
Luckily, it seemed that being invisible had its benefits, as that was what allowed him to mostly stay away from their eyes.
Mostly.
That same girl he had encountered late night, the same day he had encountered Ryūen and the other girl. He could feel her stares piercing through his back and exiting his abdomen, but he didn't care.
It's not like she remembered him either way.
Hell, he wasn't sure if anyone even knew his name.
And he was fine with that.
When the teacher asked the class about specific elements and transformation states, Munfurawa had written the answers down, before when no one answered.
After class was done, Munfurawa would approach the teacher and give the correct answers to her questions, as if everyone was quiet, she wouldn't reveal it. He could see the surprised look Sae Chabashira was giving him.
She knew of his potential in intellectually and academic abilities, but she didn't expect a student to write the answers and give them to her, without expecting anything in return, showcasing his potential willingly. Munfurawa was truly a strange student, even when he was the only one excluded from an invite to this study group.
Regardless, she was intrigued to see how this class would do with the midterms in general, considering what was at stake.
But even then, Munfurawa was an interesting student in her eyes. This whole class was interesting.
Yet again, he ate alone outside, enjoying the environment, and avoiding any delinquents that may try to pick fights and cause attentions. Similar to what he expected, he saw Ryūen outside his peripheral view, but since Munfurawa was mostly hidden away, he was left unseen by the delinquent.
After finishing afternoon classes and lectures, he went to his martial arts club, that he reluctantly joined. Ever since the room became an official club, Munfurawa had been sparring more with the others. Clearly wanting to know the mysterious student.
And Munfurawa was so far the only student who had not officially lost a sparring match. While he did tie, or win. He would rarely win by knockout, something only he could do. Perhaps it was because Munfurawa was the only know to strike the sensitive parts of the human body? He never knew. All he knew was that sparring should be taken as an actual fight, something he emphasized when he fought and was brutal to all his opponents.
He showed no regret and hesitation in his actions. This spar match was the most difficult and formidable he had done.
The opponent he had emphasized in judo, which was a martial arts Munfurawa found himself getting increasingly interested in.
As a result, blocking most of his opponents' attacks were difficult, as being grabbed by them would be a devastating effect towards Munfurawa.
What helped him, instead was the fact that his overall attacks were relatively easy to predict. His kicks were somewhat strong, but not as strong as Munfurawa. Whilst leaping to perform a hook kick, Munfurawa was struck unexpectedly by a punch to his abdomen.
The airborne taekwondo fighter grunted, still going through with his attack, striking his opponent in the shoulder blade, before he landed, taking a breather from the punch. He eventually realized that his fist was more akin to a knife-like motion, which explained why that blow hurt.
Quickly dodging a follow-up blow, he kicked the hang away before twisting his body to kick behind him, which struck his target.
Munfurawa's opponent tapped out afterwards, which gave Munfurawa the win. He took a sigh of relief.
Being struck that effectively had surprised Munfurawa, but he still came out on top. Still, those punches hurt, and considering Munfurawa always struggled with the power and speed of punching forward, rather than for defending himself, he did consider asking his opponent for advice on a stronger punch.
He certainly will have to ask after when midterms were over. Speaking of those within the club, Azuma had not joined the club recently, probably to focus on the midterms, and joining that ice girl's study group.
Sighing, he passed the library, seeing the majority of Class 1-D showing up, much to his relief. He did not have to worry about her clinging to him, something made obvious when he saw her among the group.
Making his way past the library and towards his dorm, not really caring for what they were thinking about or doing. He could study on his own, and get the marks he deserved based on his own studying habits.
Sitting down on his work, he basically worked until he began falling asleep on his desk. He had never really dreamed before, compared to the average person. He was somewhat taught not to, as it could impact his function.
As a result, he rarely got dreams these days. He just went blank.
Waking up early and heading to his bed, he hoped the rest of his day tomorrow would be as uneventful as the coming days hopefully.
Unfortunately, he would wake up to some drama straight off the bat. He decided to walk and get a drink with the private points he had saved up. Thankfully he was smart in saving his private points, so he was able to at least buy some stuff. Considering he didn't really eat dinner and instead plopped to get extra sleep, he needed something to fill him up.
He figured a simple vending machine treat with an additional drink would be nice to help him get focused on the upcoming class material he would probably need to know for the midterms.
As he was walking back, however, he saw something that made him confused slightly.
It was the same girl from that night when it was raining. And she was staring right at him.
He figured that pretending he didn't know her, could help get past and maybe avoid this confrontation
"And where are you going? You know classes don't begin until an hour, so why don't we chat?" The petite girl mentioned, and Munfurawa silently cursed. He really didn't want to talk to her. She was on his case ever since she met him. She had an aura of power, and thus he did not want to get involved in that.
What was he supposed to do? He looked around, but seeing no specific gateway to avoiding this.
He looked down at his uniform for martial arts and he pondered if he could say he had a morning sparing season, but the room wasn't even open, and she could ask if she could walk him there.
He decided to do the same strategy he did for that other girl. He looked behind and saw someone quiet a bit away, and used that as a steppingstone to leave.
Staring at the girl briefly afterwards, he left, giving her the impression that he thought she was referring to perhaps someone else.
It did seem to work, and while the girl did look somewhat shocked, she knew she couldn't keep up with Murdurawa.
"That boy is more of a struggle than I thought. Oh well, it only intrigues me more." Sakayanagi merely responded, watching the boy move away from her.
Meanwhile Munfurawa was absolutely in a pickle. He had two people wanting to interact with him. This was something he did not want to be involved in. He needed to find a way to avoid these people. It's not like he could move secretly. He needed to move from his classes to his martial arts club, and back to his dorm. They could meet up with him anywhere. In addition, judging by their overall persona, both Skayanagi and Ryūen were powerful figures within the school.
Here he was, trying to avoid commotion and be invisible, but now he had the eyes of very powerful individuals.
This was bad… he needed to do something.
But what could he do? Maybe try and stay hidden until they lose interest in him? That could work. Or, he could try and walk with the crowd.
The best way to remain invisible, is to be within the crowd. Perhaps he should actually try walk, when the commotion was at its highest. He would head to the club just after class when others were trying to move around. As for these martial arts to his dorm, he could walk with the other martial art club. Even if he didn't talk to them, perhaps if he silently went with them, he could avoid them.
Eventually deciding that was the best course of action, he walked into the room, took the complete corner of his class. Once again, Sae Chabashira looked at him, expecting his early arrival these days.
She sighed, clearly upset that the antisocial loner has yet to improve in his ability to speak to others, she felt somewhat sad regarding his state in the classroom. Even the fact that none of the students within this class knew of his name, was saddening enough, and he had done nothing to stop that.
She sighed, feeling she needed to do something regarding his state in social life. However, hearing he was in the martial arts club did make her feel somewhat hopeful.
In particular, when another student entered, her eyes went straight to the loner, and this intrigued Chabashira somewhat.
"Hey!" Azuma exclaimed to Munfurawa, who yet again ignored her.
Already this was weird, to Chabashira. She had observed Azuma multiple times, and she always portrayed as a somewhat bubbly girl who got along decently well with everyone, but also keeping her distance. Kind of like a less energetic and in your face than Kushida.
However, with Munfurawa, she seemed unusually more reserved, more passionate and more serious when around him.
It was a wild difference than how she acted outside of this instance. Perhaps she was more natural around him. Did being around her make her feel more real with herself?
And what shocked Chabashira more, was the fact that Munfurawa responded, "Yes?"
Azuma sighed, "I wanted to apologize for not attending the martial arts club recently, this girl created a study group for the class to do better on the upcoming midterms."
Munfurawa nodded, "I understand, I'll let the others know."
This confused Azuma, "Wait, your not attending it? The study groups? Even if you knew they were going on?"
When Munfurawa nodded his head, Azuma gasped, "But if we don't do well, you run the risk of expulsion!"
Her passionate self was again taking Chabashira off guard, as she watched the conversation. It was more Azuma talking while Munfurawa answering in the simplest of terms.
Munfurawa answered, "Simple, I was never invited to join."
This seemed to shock Azuma, "What? I must tell Horikita to invite you."
"Don't." Munfurawa replied, getting up, "I'm fine without the study group, I can study on my own."
Chabashira sighed, she expected that from the loner. To reject the chance of being within a group. He always left as soon as he could to avoid interacting with others.
But the question was, why? Why was Munfurawa so hesitant and cold towards others? Chabashira thought. Why did Munfurawa managed to get excluded from many class-related ventures. Even in his martial arts club, she could only assume that he was somehow alone during his hobbies.
Chabashira only watched as Munfurawa told Azuma not to ask Horikita, instead insisting he did these things alone.
Chabashira thought, she was the homeroom teacher and thus could maybe pull some strings. Since he was smart, she could make him tutor someone? Or maybe a group project. She didn't know, but for now, she was just going to observe the stuff happening right now.
As she expected, while the other students were interacting and discussing various topics, Munfurawa was yet again quiet and studying.
Still, at least he was now talking to someone, even if it was someone for now. Progress was progress, she thought and perhaps he will eventually fix that defect of his.
Little did she know, however, that was only a part of the many he may have.
While one would be happy of a student focusing on his studies, Chabashira really was concerned for his social life. It was very bad.
Realizing she had a class to start, she sighed, getting the class started.
Once again, he was quiet, calculated, and hard working. The exact qualities that perhaps could've gotten in Class 1-A, if only his communication and social skills were better, then perhaps he wouldn't even be in this class.
As she continued through her lessons, she could see the differences in how the class learned. Some didn't even try, others were listening but not taking notes, while a few took in what they were doing.
Munfurawa was among the last of the groups, and in the mock test she gave the class, he scored average precisely again.
It was evidently clear his academic prowess was very good.
Munfurawa did not care, he remained stoic and composed, as he took down his notes. To him, the day seemed exactly the same. Nothing would really change, and he would just get through the school year, and move with his life.
When he did try to leave for lunch, Azuma stopped him, trying to convince him into joining the study group. Once again, he retained his stance, not caring for the sad look Azuma was giving him.
Whatever people said about "puppy eyes" and the likes, it was a clear mask. It really was not as bad as people made it out to be.
He noticed the angry look the beige petite girl was giving him, but he ignored it.
Heading out to get some lunch, Azuma would not give up, continuing to pressure and ask Munfurawa to join the study group. It's not even that he did not want to socialize, but rather he was fine on his own. He didn't mean to brag, but he felt confident in his abilities, and thus did not seem willing to join.
Thankfully, Azuma eventually conceded, and left the loner alone, as Munfurawa merely went about as if his day was the same. Gathering some food and drinking water, he made his way back and found a nice place to eat outside. That is, if he wasn't being search for both Ryūen and Sakayamagi.
So, to circumvent the chances he meets them, he merely chose to walk back into the classroom, avoiding others to the best of his ability.
Sitting back in the classroom, he quietly ate his lunch as he observed some others, whether it was interacting with others, or if they were in a group eating.
Slowly, he already began to work while he can. He may be a loner, and perhaps a creep to some, but he would always be into his books.
Once class was finally over, he went over to his martial arts routine. At this rate, it was a mundane schedule, but that was what he wanted. A schedule he could repeat over and over. If he were to forget to do something within his schedule, then it would be difficult to repeat it. And therefore, he stuck to this schedule. The days where it was a weekend, were different, as there was no school obviously.
It was a shame the overall midterms were at the end of this week, meaning there was only a day to study for the midterms.
He did feel better about it, he did also think about the others. Why he did? He'll never know. He stopped caring for people ever since he was betrayed. All he cared about was his own life, and that was his goal.
Making his way to his martial arts room, to his mild surprise, it was empty. Perhaps since midterms were very soon, he digressed.
Still, this gave him a much-needed alone time, to practice his techniques, and even try new ones, specifically judo and karate techniques. Polishing his knife hands, he struck the punching bags.
However, this was perhaps the main reason why he rarely punched with his hands.
He would punch so hard, that his knuckles would start bleeding. Sighing, he gathered some hand wraps to protect his knuckles from the impact from the harsh texture of the punching bag.
Sighing in relief when he finished, he realized it was late. Grunting in annoyance at how his day was messed up slightly, he made his way out.
Gathering his supplies and bag, he made his way to his dorm. However, the sounds of footsteps and a cane made him freeze up, knowing very well who this was.
Looking back, he saw the petite girl, with lilac hair and violet eyes. She was relatively short, and with a cane. However, despite this, he knew very well who this girl was, since he and she had prior meetups before. Beforehand, Munfurawa had been able to escape interacting with her.
He even planned ways to avoid these kinds of confrontations yet again, but since today was the leadup to midterm exams, almost all were probably studying instead of performance techniques.
Munfurawa sighed, knowing he had to talk to this girl.
"Well, I feel this is a long time waiting…" The girl started.
Munfurawa sighed, trying to decipher his mind on what to say.
"Well…" The girl asked, realizing Munfurawa was not talking back whatsoever.
She could see the fact that Munfurawa was deep in thought and she knew she would need to talk.
"My name is Arisu Sakayanagi, representative of Class 1-A." The petite girl, named Sakayanagi had introduced herself, and Munfurawa was still trying to wrap his head around what to say.
"Uhh…" Munfurawa began mumbling, clearly not knowing how to respond.
That changed when Sakayanagi suddenly started laughing, which confused Munfurawa.
"Man, they were not joking when they said you sucked at communication, that's why you avoided me…" Sakayanagi commented, which failed to dent a change in expression to Munfurawa.
"Anyways, I know a bit more of you know, Munfurawa." Sakayanagi stated, and Munfurawa was somewhat confused as to how Sakayanagi knew of his name.
"How do you know my name?" Munfurawa managed to ask finally, and Sakayanagi flinched at the sound of his voice. Rather deep but calm, a bit rough with a neutral tone within it. But even then, she could hear the smoothness within the voice.
"Well, as a representative, we all have access to the class information, and a small look at Class 1-D was all I needed. Your name was the only one I knew very little of, but considering I know the names of the others, I figured it worked with your mysterious profile." Sakayanagi smirked, which only made Munfurawa grunt in response. This was really not how he wanted to spend his night.
"What do you want, Sakayanagi?" Munfurawa asked finally.
"So you can talk? I'm surprised, considering you're the first ever student to receive an F on an assessment." Sakayanagi teased, but much to her surprise he didn't care.
"Apparently you need communication to ascend in the class. I was told I could've made it to Class 1-A if it wasn't for my F in communication." Munfurawa explained to the girl, who nodded.
"I was told, you have high academic and intellect, and your body and martial arts showcase that you may have lied about you physical abilities. It's a shame you got an F on something. The lowest possible mark I knew of was an E-…" Sakayanagi replied, and Munfurawa merely looked on. "Anyways there has been some questions I've been meaning to ask you.
Munfurawa looked on as Sakayanagi continued, "Where exactly are you from? And what's your connection to Ryūen?"
Munfurawa merely grunted, not wanting to open up to anyone, especially against his will. He couldn't let her know where he was from. If he did, she may find out of his past.
And he would not let them find that out.
"Find out yourself." Was all Munfurawa replied, "And Ryūen seems to like messing with me is all."
"You do seemed skilled in combat, says here you have a passion for martial arts, but I've never seen a typical martial artist used some skills you have shown." Sakayanagi commented, once again breaching Munfurawa's comfort zone.
"Once again, find out yourself." Munfurawa reiterated, walking off.
"Goodbye, hope we don't meet again." Munfurawa stated to Sakayanagi, before he walked off, the darkness making it hard for the girl to see Munfurawa.
The petite girl chuckled, clearly intrigued by him even more. Even if he did not reveal a lot of information regarding his personal information, it only made her more passionate to finding out the secrets behind that boy.
"Oh, if you only you got what you wanted…" Was all she replied with, to no one in particular, before she walked back, her cane in her hand.
Munfurawa was not in a good mood after that encounter. He really did not need that in the come up to the midterms. Hoping he would finally be able to get into his dorm, he was yet again met with another confrontation, that he wished he could ignore.
The sound of a commotion was evident, and Munfurawa noticed two boys fighting.
He could see the emotionless boy, he called him, defending himself from what appeared to be an older boy. He also noticed the ice girl, her usual serious face instead in a more frightened tone. It was strange seeing the usual serious girl terrified, but he digressed, instead watching the fight go on.
Considering he spared a lot, and loved fighting, seeing two others fight somewhat intrigued him.
Despite being in the pitch black of night, he was able to see the figures move well. Probably because his eyes reflected a lot of light, even the smallest he could get.
He didn't care for the commotion that was happening, nor the conversation the older boy was having with the emotionless boy. All he cared about was going to his room.
In fact, he could recognize these two as being in the same class as he is. Regardless, he realized the older boy and the ice girl looked familiar, were they related?
Eventually, the older boy left, the two looking at each other. The older boy seemed to be staring down Munfurawa, observing him, and clearly confused at his overall appearance.
What made this interesting, was the fact that it was Munfurawa was still wearing his martial arts uniform, which was white in the night.
"Who is doing club activities the day before midterms…" Was all the older person said before leaving.
Before he knew it, he had the emotionless boy and the ice girl, yet again staring at him. It was clear he could be seen due to his white martial arts uniform, however.
Munfurawa stood his ground, ignoring the strange looks given by the two students. He knew the two well, because of Azuma and Sakayanagi. In addition to them being in the same class.
They were Horikita, and Ayanokouji. He had heard of the two quite a bit, and according to his surroundings had developed a reputation, as they sort of led class 1-D.
Sighing, he merely walked past them, pacing himself for any possible aggression from either of them, verbally or physically. He certainly was anticipating it.
So it was somewhat surprising to him, when he received none. He was just allowed to go, like that. He sighed, at least he was finally able to rest for the upcoming midterms.
He didn't get to study, but he could do some last minute if he got to class early. Oh well, even then he understood everything, and it was just a matter of getting everything done. It was somewhat weird that the midterm day occurred on Thursday, but he digressed. At least he got the weekend off to relax afterwards.
Even though midterms sucked, and were a huge spike in stress, afterward was the "start" of new taught material. He always felt the greatest in the aftermath of midterms.
Heading to bed, all he thought about were the strange interactions he had with those people. He once again hoped they would've keep seeing each other. He doesn't need to lose is invisibility status.
Eventually, midterms were starting. Unfortunately, they were starting with Munfurawa's two main struggles in terms of subject: English and Modern Grammar. He really did not enjoy these subjects, but atlas he had to learn them, as he was bored. When someone is bored, they desperately will do anything that gets rid of it.
The next was one of his strongest points: Chemistry. He was strong in science, and Chemistry was a small subsection of the field.
Civics was alright for Munfurawa, he understood it well.
And finally, mathematics would be a strong end for Munfurawa. It was clear that he would end strong, he just needed to get through the first two.
Eventually, he got through the first two, which he felt like he struggled on, before pushing through chemistry, civics, and mathematics. He finished first for the last three, and somewhat in the middle for the first two.
Of course, he didn't care how he did, nor were any of these midterms actually difficult. He knew how he did, purposely getting the easy questions wrong, and the hard questions right. He knew the class would aim higher to assist in the weekly points, but he also had to make sure none of the students get expelled.
Heading over to the martial arts room, he was met with celebrations from those in the club, who apparently said today wasn't a day for practice but for celebration. Munfurawa groaned, not wanting to celebrate but train and practice his techniques and others. To say the celebration came to a surprise, Munfurawa decided to leave early.
With nothing else to do, he didn't know what to do. He couldn't study anything new, but he didn't want to just sleep.
As a result, he went walking around aimlessly, not really knowing what to do.
Eventually he found himself in the library, looking at books to read. He read quite the number back in his early life, to escape reality, so perhaps now he could start on a new series. He never understood why many English professors choose such boring books for the class to read. He really didn't.
Eventually finding a drama and adventure filled book, he was about to head his own way to rent the book, when he stopped, realizing a boy was staring him down.
It wasn't just any boy. It was the boy from yesterday, the emotionless one.
Munfurawa sighed, not really caring, going past Ayanokouji.
"You didn't eavesdrop anything about what happened last night, right?" Munfurawa heard Ayanokouji ask, more of interrogating him for answers.
Munfurawa sighed, "Whatever happens between you and that girl is your business. I don't pry into people's lives, as I don't want the same to happen to me."
With that, he walked out leaving Ayanokouji pondering on the mystery that was, wait what was his name?
Munfurawa got to his room and began reading his book. He hadn't realized how late it got until he got tired.
The next thing he knew was that he fell asleep.
When he woke up, he realized he woke up somewhat late, and that he may be late. Thankfully seats were assigned so it didn't matter.
He ended up being only three minutes early. Wasn't bad, so that he wouldn't be seen if he was late, but many were already in class.
Azuma noticed Munfurawa just joining the classroom. Sitting down, she almost yelled.
"You're much later than you usually were, I thought you weren't coming today?!" Azuma silently yelled somehow, and Munfurawa sighed.
"I just stayed up late reading a book." Munfurawa stated, which made Azuma interested.
"Oh wow, it must be a good book if you stayed up late to read it." Azuma commented and Munfurawa nodded, before seeing the teacher enter.
The teacher seemed somewhat intrigued with a mix of expectations.
Eventually, she began to talk about the class average, and how each individual student performed.
Looking at the leader board, he noticed his own markings and took it in.
Vahesh Hashi Munfurawa: Midterm Results
English: 69
Modern Grammar: 69
Chemistry: 75
Civics: 72
Mathematics: 75
Average: 72
Surprisingly, in terms of average throughout the class, he had scored eighth lowest only. Thankfully, no one seemed to care, which made his life easier.
He looked at Azuma's for some reason
Suna Azuma: Midterm Results

Civics: 100
Mathematics: 78
Average: 88.4
Huh she did better than Munfurawa thought. Then again, he didn't really know her performance prior so perhaps she was smarter than he perceived. Oh well…
Of course, the teacher emphasized that one of the students in the class, Ken Sudo, had failed an exam and therefore would be expelled.
This caused somewhat of a train storm, as multiple peers began to defend him. Whilst the other argued, he merely left, considering that's all the teacher wanted to talk about.
Sighing in relief, he felt a lot of stress escape him once he knew about his midterm score. Well, more that his prediction for his mark was right.
However, as he heard about Sudo defending himself and the others standing up, he felt somewhat weird, as if he felt bad, did he pity him? Perhaps, but he wanted to help him. Why? He doesn't know. He shouldn't be caring for those around him, yet here was considering to help someone in his class he hadn't even talked to.
Why should he help him? He doesn't know.
And so, he walked off, trying his best to not care. Getting his lunch, he was about to head back to class, after having a long lunch, when he heard something.
"So your willing to trade some of your private points to help Sudo, you are an interesting group of students I have taught…" Munfurawa could hear the noise of his teacher, Chabashira.
"Yes. I feel that everyone must have a chance to showcase their full potential." Another girl's voice can be heard. He looked out and once again saw those two: emotionless boy and ice girl standing, seeming to make a deal with Chabashira to save Sudo from expulsion.
Munfurawa merely scoffed, why help those who never helped you? He would never know.
And so, he made his way to his class, before lying down.
"Spending private points to save one student from expulsion…" Munfurawa mumbled to himself. He looked at his phone, and saw the amount he had. Because he had missed two weeks of school, and with betting over chess, he was rewarded the 250,000 private points. Meaning he technically had bonus private points. Further compounded by his ability to spend them when needed. As a result, whilst some had between 0-100,000, Munfurawa somehow had 350,000 private points.
Now, what made this weird was the fact that it was supposed to theoretically cap at 100,000. However, since he joined later, but was enrolled, and his class was decided before he began moving, he was rewarded like every other student.
Meaning, he had to get rid of these amounts, or he wouldn't get rewarded with the others. He had over the limit of private points. And it's not like it was a benefit whatsoever. Any private point gains he could possibly get afterwards would be rendered useless due to the fact he was far past the cap.
Once again, his mind was working in two ways. On the one side, he yet again reiterated he owed this person nothing. However, he also for some reason wanted to help. Was it his deep desire of wanting to have friends? Or to be a good person, after years of torment of being called a murderer, he did not know.
As a result, when everyone left, he noticed Ayanokouji and Horikita both looking at their digital phones, cringing from the loss they took to save Ken Sudo from expulsion.
Why should he help those two, both he never talked to?
He was not going to help them, he told himself. However, later that afternoon, he fell back on his own mind. Something telling him to help. He sighed, at least he wouldn't really be affected by this…
Approaching Chabashira after class, when everyone was gone, her face seemed shocked, as Munfurawa placed his digital phone in front of her.
"Is there something you need?" She asked, and Munfurawa nodded.
"Did those two students spend their private points to prevent Sudo from expulsion?" Munfurawa asked, which Chabashira flinched.
"How did you find out?" She asked, somewhat surprised that a student from her class found out she was doing this, something she shouldn't be. Especially someone like him.
"It doesn't matter, I would like to offer you 100,000 private points to make up for his expulsion." Munfurawa stated.
Chabashira rolled her eyes, "Silly, the points have already been transferred."
"I know." Munfurawa replied, which made Chabashira look at him seriously. "I'm giving you the 100,000 private points to evenly give 50,000 to both students who evenly split it."
Chabashira looked shocked, "You don't possibly have enough private points to give 100,000 private points."
"Take a look at the digital phone." To Chabashira's shock, there were around 350,000 private points on his digital phone.
"How…" Was all she asked.
"Since I was two weeks late with the acceptable excuse of travel, and was already enrolled, I was given the 100,000 private points weekly. For some reason they stacked up. As a result, I have this amount of private points."
Chabashira looked at the phone, "there's no way, how did you…-"
"Accept it, either take the 100,000 or I can walk away with my 250,000 points." Munfarawa stated in a more serious, colder tone, giving the terms of the deal.
Chabashira looked at the serious expression Munfarawa displayed before sighing.
"Very well, I will split your 100,000 into two and give them to Ayanokouji and Horitkita." Chabashira stated at last.
Munfarawa nodded, watching as he was deducted 100,000 points, which really did not impact him as much as the others, before walking away.
"I told those two this, but you may seriously have a chance at making it to Class A…" He heard Chabashira comment, to which Munfarawa stopped.
"Perhaps, but I'm my own person, and I do what I think is right. If anyone asks, keep my name out of the behind the scenes" Was all he said before leaving.
As he walked, looking at his now 250,000 points, all he could ask was: why?
Why did he sacrifice a piece of himself, for three people? He did not want notoriety, but here he was being nice.
He didn't know Sudo, nor emotionless boy and ice girl, yet he helped them. Why did he? He shouldn't be caring about them. He should be focused on himself. Was it because he wouldn't really get hurt by his sacrifice? Was it because he secretly wanted to have connections? Or was he just a nice person, wanting to make up for his previous actions?
It became quiet the nuisance, as he entered the martial arts room late, which Azuma noticed, but didn't comment. Right now, Munfurawa was confused with his actions, and he had yet to figure out a definite answer.
All the while, Chabashira was out, still smoking, wondering and intrigued about that boy. He had yet again, in the midterms, scored a perfect distribution. Like his entrance exams, his English and modern grammar were -3 of the average he got, his civics was average, and his mathematics and chemistry were +3 average. He had yet again gotten a precise spread chart of his results.
And so, Munfurawa was the second boy of interest she begun to look at more carefully. As like the other one, he also seemed to hide his potential.
A.N / Third chapter is out! What did you think? It may be confusing as to why this character went from I don't help anyone and I'm invisible to this. It's understandable because even he is confused. Munfurawa wants to help those secretly, but doesn't want the notoriety, because he likes being invisible. He's a loner because he's awkward and scared to make connections, but he still tries in his own ways.
So it isn't that he is cold and doesn't want friends, he does. He just wants to have connections that won't impact his life. I think that's something a lot of us want.
Anyways, that's it for the third chapter. I'll see you later with the fourth chapter, which also has Ken Sudo…
