Chapter six
--
The sun had set and the moon rose up in the sky, illuminating the trees and casting a gentle flow around the Lost Mangroves. It was extremely dark, and a bit hard for Donkey Kong to see, he wandered into a rusting building. Parts of the walls had been torn off and the ceiling had been consumed by the trees surrounding it.
The only sounds that could be heard in the distance were the sounds of birds singing their lullaby, nearby frogs croaking and the crickets chirping away. Other than that, it was completely silent. And the silent was eerie.
Donkey Kong wandered through the old building, not quite sure what exactly he was looking for, but knew he'd know where he found it. He could see a row of colourful lanterns close in front of him. He decided to follow the light. Then he came to a ledge. He looked down. Nothing. Quite suspicious... Donkey thought.
Suddenly a bright spotlight shone on him, and Donkey covered his eyes from the blinding light. What in the world is that...? Then a big light lit up the whole place. And Donkey instantly knew what it was. It's an arena. He saw lots of Tucks and other penguins sitting in the background, cheering. Cheering for someone.
Donkey Kong looked back to what was in front of him, and saw two penguins walking up holding a giant target that had a picture of a blue snowflake on it. Their logo, I assume. Donkey thought. But what's the target for? Then their was a loud noise. Someone was coming...
Then, a ginormous purple seal, who wore a Vikings hat and the snowmads symbol around his neck, tore open the target. He slid down the ledge jumping up into the air, probably showing off to his fans. Then when he was done being a show off, he landed on the opposite side of Donkey Kong, looking up at him with an evil smirk.
"Who are you?" Donkey asked, confused. "I am Pompy the Presumptuous!" The seal yelled proudly. "And I challenge you to fight me!" "Why would I fight you?" Donkey Kong said, raising an eye brow. "What? Are you scared?" Pompy asked. "No!" Donkey snapped. "Fine. I'll fight you. And win!" Pompy smiled and clapped his fins with a deep laugh. "Very well. Let the battle begin!"
Two penguins pushed Donkey Kong off the ledge and into the arena. "Rude." Donkey grumbled but then looked back up at Pompy, his eyes fixed on the giant seal. Pompy leaped off his ledge and slid down into the arena, attempting to squish Donkey Kong. But Donkey with his agility, he leaped over the seal and landed powerfully on his back, sending Pompy into the water below.
Pompy's head popped out of the water. "Your gonna pay for that!" He yelled. Then dived back into the water. When he came back up, he had a Green Finley in his mouth. He chucked it at Donkey Kong and dived down to get to more and also throw them at Donkey.
Donkey Kong barrel rolled into the Green Finley's, sending them back into the water. The startled fish swam away as fast as they possibly could. "Is that all you got?" Donkey Kong called out with a smirk. Pompy scowled. He then leapt out of the water and back onto the ledge. Again, he slid down the slope, but faster this time. It had the same outcome.
Once again, Donkey Kong landed powerfully on his back, sending him back into the water with a yelp of pain. Then Pompy dived down under the water. Donkey rolled his eyes. Is he seriously gonna throw fish at me again? Pompy soon came out of the water with a very spikey sea urchin. "Take this!" Then Pompy threw the sea urchin at him, jumping out of the water and doing a little spin as he did.
That was smart. Donkey Kong couldn't barrel roll into this one. The sea urchin jumped around the arena helplessly, until it finally reached the water and jumped back in. Donkey Kong smirked at Pompy again.
Pompy leaped onto the ledge again. He was seething. Then Pompy let out a loud, angry roar. Some of his fur seemed to turn a bit more... pink. Damn, I guess I made him angrier than I thought I did. Donkey Kong thought, wondering if Pompy was going to step up his game,
Then Pompy leaped off the ledge but didn't slide down this time. He rolled down the ledge, protecting his back this time. Donkey quickly leaped over the seal, knowing he couldn't get a hit with him rolling like that. When Pompy reached the other side, he did a little flip and slid down the slope normally. Now's my chance! Donkey Kong smashed Pompy's back, this time with his fists and Pompy yelped. "How are you doing that!?" He yelled. Then jumped back into the water.
What is he doing under there now? Suddenly, some penguins leaped out of the water and landing onto the ground. Donkey Kong had to doge them all. "Hey that's cheating!" He exclaimed. Pompy popped his head out of the water. "I made the rules, so I get to decide whether it's cheating or not! And I say it isn't!"
He ducked his head under the water and seconds later, leaped out. He landed onto the ground with a great big BANG, hitting his head in the process. Pompy sat there for a bit, dazed and Donkey Kong took this as the perfect opportunity to bonk him on the head. Swiftly, he ran over to Pompy and smashed him on the head, causing him to fall back into the water, screaming "OW!"
He then leaped back into the ledge and slapped his tail on the ground. Donkey Kong could basically see his ears steaming (even though his ears were barely visible). Pompy let out louder, angrier roar, parts of his fur turning even more pink. I wonder how he does that. Donkey thought with curiosity.
Pompy clapped his fins about three times. Three penguins leaped out of the water and one by one, they slid off the ledge, coming after Donkey Kong. Pompy followed behind. Donkey Kong dodged all three penguins and then, punched Pompy on the back, hard.
Pompy leaped back into the water and game back with a Gordo. He then threw the Gordo at Donkey Kong and also threw a sea urchin at him to. "Getting smarter, I see." Donkey Kong said. After a while, the aquatic creatures leaped back into the water.
Then Pompy leaped back onto the ledge. He jumped onto the ground of the arena, standing on his two fins (which Donkey had to admit was pretty impressive). He did this again and again, obviously trying to land on Donkey Kong. He leaped onto the ground he landed on one fin, as if trying to show off. Then he did it once more but slipped and he landed harshly onto the ground.
Then, Donkey Kong leaped at him and kicked him in the face. Donkey had managed to weaken Pompy. Now he had to get answer from him. He jumped on top of the big seal and pinned him down, holding him down the neck. "How do I get out of here?" Donkey asked. "ACK! I'm not telling you!" Pompy choked out. Donkey Kong held on tighter. "Alright, alright!" Pompy cried.
"There's a transportation barrel not far from here that'll get you to the next island. Now please get offa me!!" Donkey smiled. "Perfect" he got off of Pompy and immediately headed for the barrel. Pompy sighed. "There goes my dignity."
Donkey Kong soon found the transportation barrel. He saw a label on the barrel and read it. It said- leads to Autumn Heights. "Autumn Heights?" Donkey repeated. "Maybe I'll find my friends there...?" He climbed into the barrel and he was shot through the sky heading towards Autumn Heights, hoping to find his friends.
