It was seen as a blessing how quickly Rin appeared to recover from the disaster that was his injuries. Surviving such dangerous odds against a demon king and standing at the brink of death, seemingly ready to fall over the edge, only to return to health and be up and moving before anyone wanted him to. Yukio especially, insisting that just because he felt better, didn't mean he didn't have healing to do.
Rin knew better. The slow bleeding through of his unholy blood from his biological father had always assisted him in recovering quickly. Even the exorcists didn't assume anything odd about his healing as Rin appeared to be blessed by divine might. As much as Yukio and Shiro did try and hide how well he was actually recovering. Rin was remarkable in both his swordsmanship skill and healing prowess.
But healing came with it's own concern as he could no longer hide behind the array of doctors who clamored for his recovery. He had to walk forward, into the arms of fate, balancing the tightrope between his father, brother, the whole of the exorcist society, and the angels that had guided him throughout his life.
Well, there was no more putting it off. Dressed in a new uniform for his new school he would be joining his brother. More importantly it would be nice to talk to his family about demon related incidents like they all did without him.
Positive thoughts. Positive thoughts.
Don't even think of the drama that the doctors whispered behind his back thinking he couldn't hear them or that the angels wouldn't tell him-
"Ah! There you are Rin!" Yukio's voice cut through his intrusive thoughts. It was no trouble to smile at his twin, thrilled to see each other, this time with less secrets on both their parts. Still, the truth of their fathers identity was still unspoken between all of them. The knowledge of demons was the first step. Rin kind of hoped it would be the only one they'd have to deal with.
"Hey little bro!" Rin responded. His smile large and his arms were thrown wide as he pulled his younger brother into a hug. Normally, he would be stiff and awkward with the physical display of affection. But the near claim to death and his stint missing due to Angel deciding he had no say in his recruitment, left his younger brother with a desire to reaffirm that he was really back.
"Ready for school?"
Rin turned away from his brother, his face cringing. He was... okay when it came to school before he was kidnapped by the Vatican. Their desire for a blessed individual exorcist had them focus solely on his physical training. Who knew how far behind he was in class?
He almost wanted to cry at the thought of the studying his brother and the angels would put him through to make sure he had decent grades.
"It won't be that bad. You'll be in class with me."
"Yay," Rin weakly cheered. He loved his brother. He really did. But being in the same class as his smarty pants brother was a nightmare. Was it too late for everyone to think he was missing or dead? His eyes darted over to Sandalphon in hope he would do something.
Sandalphon merely shrugged his shoulders, his lips were twitching, fighting his smile of amusement. His wings shook slightly as laughter threatened to escape despite how only Shura and Rin were the only humans there who could hear him.
Rin mouthed the word 'Traitor!' to the angel.
"Don't be so down Rin. Metatron and I will be by your side the entire time."
Rin knew it was true, if only because Sandalphon would be watching Yukio and Metatron floating over his shoulder like a mother hen.
"Aw, my boys are acting cute," Shiro chuckled from behind.
"Da-ad," the twins whined as they let each other go in embarrassment.
"Don't you da-ad, me. Why, I can remember when you two would run up and call me 'Daddy!' over and over again," he laughed. "Now look at you. Going off to school and hunting demons."
"Rin."
The comradery died down almost instantly with the arrival of Angel. Shiro and Yukio stood between Angel and Rin, the tension between them thicker than a demon boar's hide.
"Dad, Yukio. It's fine," Rin assured as he slid past his brother and next to his dad to face his kidnapper/teacher/exorcist/Shura's-target-to-annoy. "Angel-san?"
"Should you change your mind about being at True Cross Academy, the Vatican will be here for you."
That may have sounded like a reassurance to Angel, but it was more like an unknowing threat. At least, to Yukio and Shiro.
"Call if you need assistance from that demon running the school."
That- That Rin may have to take him up on that offer. Even if his dad and brother didn't fully understand why. Sure, there was the Satan thing that they thought they were the only ones that knew about it- but even more concerning was Rin's Clairvoyance. He would not put it past the ever amusement seeking demon not to bring it to other people's attention.
Me having just thrown this in and saying see you next time!
