My dear little broccolis💚💚💚

💚 So, this story is dedicated to two particular authors with whom I have briefly touched on those issues, and who make amazing stories. paleseptember10 & Krooela. Go check them out, you won't regret it.

💚 So, I know, I know, it's been a while. Life was not the greatest, and long story short, I didn't feel like doing much. Getting back to it because I don't want to leave the stories unfinished, and I am getting back together, of sorts, but anyway, let's finish Fallen Angel and other stories in the process.

💚 Just so you don't have to reread all the previous chapters, the big threads that you need to keep in mind

- CG + AS are an item and CG has asked her to move in.

- Ray has proposed to CG to end Elena's life, and we don't know what was CG's decision in that regard

- Ana has gifted a puppy to CG to help him with his touch issues.

- CG has seen Carla only once and Ana and Carla look nothing alike, so adultery is the only logical reason why she is no longer in Ana's life and why Ana looks like no one.

- Elliott wants to move in with Kate

- CG is super jealous of Jose, even though Ana has told him time and time again that he is like a brother to her

- Ana does not like pictures or compliments concerning her looks and she has been followed by someone ...

💚 Fallen Angel💚

How would have Christian Grey's life turned out if the Greys had intervened when Elena tried to sink her claws into him? Would he still be the same man as we know, or someone completely different ...

Chapter 53: Necessary Deceits

Christian's PoV

Ana barely texts me for the rest of the day, though she at least lets me know when she is home with Kate. Originally, I wanted to go there as well, but since the Colonel told me that he would see me at GEH, I can't. As clockwork, the Colonel arrives at 9pm. My floor is empty, since I made sure that I would be alone. Though to be fair, at this time, most of the building is empty.

The moment the Colonel steps in my office, without knocking, I am taken aback by his appearance. He looks like … Hell. he is completely bruised, bandaged and exhausted.

"Shit!" I exclaim, barely able to mask my shock.

"Don't tell Annie," he admonishes, his voice strained. "I've been back for a couple of days now, but I haven't told her. Carla's been patching me up."

"You want me to keep this from Ana?" I question, my voice barely hiding my disbelief. If Ana finds out, she will skin me alive. The Colonel glares at me, sitting in the chair in front of me as he says with a voice that leaves no argument,

"She doesn't need to worry. I've always left and come back in good health, to her eyes. She doesn't need the ugly side. I won't let my daughter see me like that."

I frown, the weight of his words sinking in.

"It could have waited," I tell him, because he really looks awful. And whether his ex-wife is at her home or his, it is still a long way from Seattle.

He gives me a hard look, daring me to linger any longer on the matter and asks, "What's wrong?"

I hesitate, maybe he doesn't need the worry that my words will bring him. He needs to rest. But then I decide to come clean. "Someone followed Ana last night."

His expression darkens, and I can see the protective instinct kicking in. "Got someone on her now?"

"Yes. I'm reviewing applications." I show him the files that I asked Taylor to compile for me, because I am not giving up on the idea of having a bodyguard on her. He briefly look at them, before sliding one back toward me and tapping it.

"Take Sawyer. He's good," he nods approvingly.

"Do you know him?" I ask, surprised.

"I know a lot of people, Grey," he replies, struggling to breathe. I look back at the file, hiding my disappointment. I was leaning more toward Ryan, the woman so I wouldn't have to worry about the bodyguard's wandering eyes. But I will trust the Colonel's judgement.

"How is she?" he asks me, concern etched on his face.

"Pissed because I want to put security on her," I admit, feeling a mix of frustration and helplessness.

It must be showing on my face because the Colonel looks at me, his eyes piercing through the exhaustion as he lets out a small sigh, telling me, "You're a good man, Grey. But I know that my daughter can be … stubborn.

The best way to get her to go your way with no argument is by playing a special card that I will give you. Tell her that you'd never forgive yourself if something happens and you could have prevented it. This is the only way that she will stop arguing, I promise you."

"Thanks," I mutter, appreciating his blunt advice.

"I'll drop by in a couple of weeks, when I'll be better looking" he says before he leaves, his steps heavy but determined.

The next morning, I brace myself for another conversation with Ana. I know she'll be pigheaded, but I also know I have to protect her. So I ask Taylor to drive us to her place, so I can pick her up and drive her to work. She seems still in a foul mood, despite the smile on my face and the tea in my hand.

She sits on the backseat, next to me, and as Taylor starts to drive away, I bring up the sore spot again

"Ana, we need to talk about your security."

She rolls her eyes. "Christian, I've told you how I feel about it."

"I know, but it's not up for debate. Your safety comes first. Please, just hear me out."

She sighs, crossing her arms. "Fine. I'm listening."

I sigh as well, reaching for her hand and she uncrosses her arm. "Ana … you mean the world to me, and what happened last night … It really scared me."

"And your solution is to smother me?"

"No … But I wouldn't be able to live with myself if anything happened to you and I could have been able to prevent it."

She doesn't retort anything … she looks down on her knees and think for quite a while? In fact, she thinks for the whole drive. This must be hitting a nerve that the Colonel knew would ring. Finally she looks at me, her eyes searching mine, "Okay, but no more than one bodyguard. And I don't want them interfering with my life."

"Deal," I agree, relieved she's finally seeing reason.

She shakes her head, a small smile tugging at her lips. "You're impossible, you know that?"

"I've been told," I chuckle, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders.

As she gets out of the car, she turns back to me. "I'll see you tonight?"

"Of course. At home," I say, watching her walk into the building. The sight of her safe and sound brings a sense of peace.

Later that day, I finalize Sawyer's assignment. I feel a bit more at ease knowing he'll be watching over Ana. It's a step towards ensuring her safety, and for now, that's enough.
