Chapter 3 : Team 7
Early Morning, In the Ninja academy,
"Starting today you all are a real shinobi, but this is just the beginning of the hard path that is ahead" Iruka announced to his class.
"You all will soon receive missions, you all will be divided in three man teams"
"three man team, that just keeps more people in my way" Sasuke thought to himself
"Man I really want to be in same team as goku and Sakura" Naruto thought to himself
Iruka soon assigned his students into teams until only, four students were left Naruto, Sasuke, Goku and Sakura.
The four of them were left and looked at each other in confusion, how would they would be assigned.
Just then, Iruka announced All four of them as team Seven.
Naruto had mixed feelings about this on one side he was happy being with Sakura and Goku, on the other hand he was with that guy sasuke.
The bell rang and Iruka left the class and told them that their assigned sensei would take them for missions.
As one team after another left with their jounin sensei, only team seven was left waiting for their jounin.
After a fair bit of waiting, Goku opened the door and peaked outside, he closed the door shut "why is our sensei so damn late" he exclaimed
"all the other teams have gone with their sensei" Naruto expressed his annoyance
"why don't you two just sit down or something" Sakura yapped
Naruto grinned and placed a dirty duster on the door as booby trap
"as if jounin would fall for that" Sasuke said
Just then the door opened and a tall man entered and the duster fell on his head, he picked the duster and shaked the hair to remove the dust.
Naruto laughed "HAHAHAHA you fell for it!"
"is he really a jounin, he doesn't seem reliable." Sasuke doubted
On the rooftop of the academy,
"Well, let's begin by introducing yourselves" the jounin told
"what do you want to know"
he shrugged "I don't know, your name, likes dislikes, goals"
"why don't you go first"
"Oh me? Well, my name is Hatake Kakashi.. I have no desire to tell you my likes and dislikes"
"Dreams for the future... hmm"
"and I have lots off hobbies"
"So.. all he told us .. is his name" sakura whispered
"now it's your turn, let's start on the right" he said pointing at Naruto"
"Yo! my name is Naruto Uzumaki, I love instant ramen in a cup" Naruto said
"I love it even more when iruka sensei pays for my ramen. What I dislike is waiting 3 minute for the ramen to cook.."
"does he only think about ramen?" Kakashi thought to himself
"my dream is to surpass the Hokage and make the people acknowledge my existence"
"Believe it!"
"he's grown in an instresting way " kakashi thought
"hobbies... pranks I guess" Naruto finished
"I see, next"
"my name is Uchiha Sasuke, I dislike many things, I don't like anything in particular"
"I can't call it a dream but an ambition to resurrect my clan and kill a certain someone" the team stared at him as finished his sentence
"he better not mean me" Naruto thought
"cool" sakura thought
"Good luck with that" goku gave a sarcastic remark, Sasuke scoffed at Goku's reply
"your turn"kakashi told
"I am Son Goku.. I love eating and training.. I guess, I don't dislike anything. Hobbies.. fighting strong people"
"he is so similar to Naruto yet so different" kakashi thought
"My dream is to surpass all and become the strongest" Goku
Kakashi nodded and said "lastly, the girl"
"My name is Haruno Sakura . The thing I like is..
..well the person I like is..." sakura blushed as she said while looking at sasuke.
"OH YEAH"
"..." kakashi looked at her in blank confusion
"what I dislike is NARUTO! " naruto was left in awe as she said that.
"Ok, so far for the introductions, tomorrow we'll start out duties as Shinobi"
"Yeah! What kinds of duties!?" Naruto questioned cheerfully
"First we are going to do something with just the four of us" Kakashi told
"what is it" sakura questioned
"Survival Training"
"Survival training?" goku asked in confusion
"why is our first duty survival training? we've had enough training at the academy" sakura expressed
The bell rang and Iruka left the class and told them that their assigned sensei would take them for missions.
"What's so funny sensei" sakura questioned
"The details are on this paper and don't be late tomorrow" Kakashi told and gave them all a paper and kakashi left.
Kakashi expression changed dead serious as he continued "..of the 28 Graduates only 10 will be chosen to become a genin. The rest will be sent back to the academy"
"This training is a very difficult exam it has a fail rate of over 70%"
Hearing that Naruto was left visibly shocked, and while Sakura looked disappointed Sasuke tensed up a bit.
on the other hand Goku who had the complete opposite reaction he was excited to fight kakashi, he wasn't bothered with the failure rate.
"Anyways tomorrow you have to show your skill in the training ground Bring all the shinobi tools you have"
"Oh.. and skip breakfast, you might throw up" kakashi told
"Not possible" Goku told himself
"The details are on this paper and dont be late tomorrow" Kakashi told and gave them all a paper and kakashi left.
sasuke immediately crumbled the paper and left, Sakura soon tried to run behind him and left as well.
Goku looked at Naruto and asked "why are you so worried out, let's go out for ramen"
Naruto jumped at the thought of ramen, when they went to ichiraku ramen it was closed for renovation.
Naruto was in tears, first the training tomorrow and now the ramen shop is closed, this was all a bad omen to Naruto.
Naruto spent the night training by fighting a wooden dummy kakashi.
While Goku left the house, he went to the military library, since he graduated he was allowed in there.
He spent atleast two hours to try to find something useful information kakashi, almost everything about him was classified only thing he found was his photo, name and rank.
He was frustrated and left the the library, now he had wasted so much of time finding nothing he went to the training grounds.
After hours of training he was tired and it was almost dusk.
He went to the river that flowed through the training ground, took off his weighted clothing and sat down to meditate,
He relaxed his mind and body, he felt the warmth of rising sun, he looked through his body he could feel some the energy inside him,
He could see the the reservoir of energy in his mind, he got up he raised his hand and reached for it, instantly he fell into the river.
His internal sight dissolved and he swam up to the river bank, he knew what he saw wasn't a hallucination, he knew there was really something.
He didn't have the time to waste on this he picked the weights rushed to his apartment, he was covered in dirt and mud as well as his gi was wet.
He saw that Naruto was still sleeping and he left him to be.
He quickly took out a new Shinobi uniform black bodysuit, from his wardrobe.
He took a quick shower and put on the body suit, he put on a weighted orange insulated vest on top put a few shurikens and kunai in his pockets, He lastly put the Shinobi headband on to his shoulder.
He looked at himself in the mirror he was clean and fresh, he took couple ryo from his saving and left the apartment.
He walked through the village center to the ichiraku ramen, Luckily it was open now. He was a bit reluctant because he told not eat breakfast but there was no way he would remain hungry.
He went on to had six large bowls of ramen, it obviously couldn't fill the infinite void that his stomach was but kept him satiated, he went to the training grounds early.
The team assembled at the training grounds, there was no sign of kakashi after a whole hour of waiting he finally arrived.
"Hey Guys, Good morning!" kakashi told waving his hand at them
"YOU'RE LATE!" Sakura and Naruto shouted
kakashi took out a clock and told them "it's set for noon" the team looked at him confused?
"Here are three bells your task is to these from me before the time's up" he told taking the bells from his pocket
"Those who don't have a bell by noon get's no lunch, I'll not only tie you to one of the stumps, but I'll also eat in right in front of you"
"so that's why.. he told us not to eat" they realized
"good thing, I didn't listen" goku told himself
"you only have to get one bell. There are only three, so one of you will definitely be tied to the stump"
"And.. the person who doesn't take a bell fails, so at least one of you will be sent back to the academy" the genins faces turned serious
"If you want you can use shurikens and kunais, you won't succeed unless you come at intent to kill" kakashi told
"But you'll be in danger!" sakura expressed
"Yeah you're so slow you can't even dodge a blackboard eraser. we'll definitely kill you" Naruto told
"In the real world, those with no talent bark the loudest"
"well ignore mr deadlast and start when I say..."
Naruto got angry and rushed before kakashi even said start, he took out a kunai and closed in on kakashi.
before he could see his kakashi got hold of hand which he hold kunai and grabbed his head, Naruto felt the kunai inches from his neck
"calm down, I haven't said start yet" kakashi told
"This will be fun" goku told himself
"I couldn't even see what happened" sakura was left blitz
" so this is a jounin" sasuke thought
"BEGIN!" kakashi shouted. The team immediately jumped back in to the forest and remained hidden.
"The most important thing for a shinobi is to be able to hide yourself"
"Nice... they are well hidden"
"come here and fight me" naruto shouted
Goku facepalmed from the tree top
"I said fight me!" Naruto repeated
"UHM you're a bit off" kakashi told
"what an idiot" Sasuke thought
Naruto rushed at kakashi once again, he felt something was off and suddenly stopped.
"Shinobi fighting lesson #1 Taijustu. I'll teach you about it"
kakashi reached his pocket and took out a novel Naruto was left bamboozled.
Naruto folded his sleeves and rushed in and tried to punch and kick but kakashi dodged all his moves, and even kicked him into the river.
Naruto threw two shuriken from the river, kakashi easily caught both of them.
Naruto climbed on the river bank coughing out water.
"you sure are weak for someone who wants to surpass the hokage "
"I was just a little careless that all" Naruto said
"carelessness can be your worst enemy" Kakashi told
"that's right" goku told and rushed in at kakashi at full speed kakashi was taken by a surprise
even sasuke and Sakura didn't see him get behind kakashi, goku whipped out his kunai kakashi dropped the book and took a kunai to block goku.
Goku tried to kick kakashi with his right leg and kakashi grabbed, goku kicked kakashi with his left leg and jumped back s few meters.
"Not bad, your taijutsu is undoubtedly great, you were almost able to keep up with a jounin" kakashi told.
Goku took out his vest threw at kakashi telling him "catch it"
kakashi tried to catch it one hand and he felt the heavy of the jacket , and he dropped the jacket.
"That was at least 70 kgs, how is he moving with that much weight"
Goku jumped through the back jumped back and forth at kakashi with speeds only kakashi was only barely able to see without the sharingan.
Kakashi also started to use his speed and took it seriously,
To the rest of them kakashi and goku were just a random blurs of speed, Goku and Kakashi were clashing kunai, sparks were created were the clashed.
The team was left in awe as the their clashed continued forward
Goku almost got the hold of the bells and then, Kakashi locked in and increased his speed even more and hit goku on the back of the neck with the dull part of the kunai, Goku fell to the ground and he retreated back in to hiding,
Goku just lied down on a tree trunk sustaining many bruises and minor scratches, he knew if he tried to fight him again he would been tied to the pole.
The team was left in awe as the their clashed continued forward
Goku almost got the hold of the bells and then, Kakashi locked in and increased his speed even more and hit goku on the back of the neck with the dull part of the kunai, Goku fell to the ground and he retreated back in to hiding,
kakashi picked up his book once again, Naruto saw an opportunity and used his Shadow clone justu, creating 8 clones and rushed at kakashi
The clones grabbed kakashi and The real Naruto went in to punch and Kakashi disappeared and his punch landed on the clone.
The clones started to fight each others thinking one of them was kakashi using transformation jutsu.
The clones started to fight each other, then Naruto thought to release the jutsu than only two of them would be there him.
Naruto released the jutsu and thinking that and only he was standing there beaten up by his own clones.
Just then Naruto saw a bell on the ground under a tree, he crouched down to reach it just then kakashi threw a rope around Naruto's leg hanging him upside down o the tree and taking back the bell.
"Think before using a jutsu or it could be used against you" kakashi said
"and also don't fall for such obvious traps,
Idiot. A shinobi should be able to see what's underneath the under" kakashi lectured
"I know that" Naruto told
Sasuke threw many shurikens and kunais and closed in at him,
The shuriken hit him and blood poured out"
"aah! no way. Sasuke you bastard! you went too far" Naruto said
kakashi used the substitution jutsu and replaced himself with a log, and went into the forest.
Sakura jumped down from the tree top towards sasuke.
Kakashi appeared in front of her he used a genjutsu, Leaves twerled around Sakura,
"What was that? where's sensei"
"Sakura" she heard someone call out her name
"that voice, Sasuke-kun"
"Sakura.. help me..." sasuke said bloodied up and and breathing heavily
"AHH" Sakura screamed, her scream echoed through the forest
"I think that was a bit too much" kakashi told himself while reading a book
"genjustu a type of hypnotism.. she'd fall for that" Sasuke told
".. I'm not the same as them"
"say that after you get a bell, Sasuke-kun" Kakashi told
"The villages most powerful clan, Uchiha clan. this could be interesting"
Sasuke throwed shuriken and kakashi dogded all of them and said "such obvious attacks are useless"
Sasuke jumped at kakashi and kicked him which kakashi blocked, sasuke spun back and tried to kick him again which time kakashi grabbed his leg and sasuke tried to punch him which kakashi easily grabbed.
sasuke spined around and almost touched the bells, kakashi threw kakashi and threw sasuke back.
Just then sasuke prepared hands signs and shouted " Ka-Ton! Goumakyuu no jutsy"
"What! A genin shouldn't have enough chakra to use that justsu"
A giant flame covered the ground the when in extinguished, sasuke felt something on his feet and kakashi and had grabbed him beneath the ground and pulling him down burying his body leaving his head above the ground.
"Instead of wasting time trying to get a bell I can just hide and eat all the food now" Naruto told himself and prepared to eat
"Hey buddy" kakashi said from behind
"That was a joke" Naruto told
"What do you think you're doing?"
Goku left the tree and found sakura, she was looking around for Sasuke, he decided to with her.
They were walking together to find the sasuke, they found him buried with his head sticking out he ground.
"He severed his head!" Sakura screamed
"no his body is under the ground" goku told, they both start to dig the dirt to remove him.
"How'd you even ended up like this" Goku asked making fun of him
"at least I didn't ran into the trees when he was going to beat me" sasuke replied
"that's fair I guess" goku told
when they finally dug him, it was almost noon. The three of them ran to find kakashi.
They found Naruto tied to the stump the alarm clock started to ring.
"Damn, too late" Sasuke told
10 Minutes later
They genin were sitting down near the tree stump, Naruto still tied up,
"You guys look really hungry. Oh and.. by the way something about the training" kakashi told
"Well.. there's no need for you guys to to go back to the academy"
"Yeah" Naruto cheered
"Huh? all I did was pass out was that enough?" Sakura questioned herself while inner sakura told "Love wins! Hell Yeah!"
Goku and Sasuke remained silent.
"Then! Then! all four of us.."Naruto and sakura jumped up in hapinness
"Yup, all four of you.. should quit as a shinobi"
Sasuke gave just angrily stared at kakashi while Naruto and Sakura's faces turned deathly pale, Goku was unbothered by that reply.
"Quit as ninja what does that mean!?" Naruto shouted
"Ok we couldn't get the bells but why do we have to quit?" sakura questioned
"Because all of you.. are just punks who don't deserve to be ninjas"
Sasuke rushed at kakashi once again taking out a kunai, but goku grabbed from his shirt
"Sit down! " Sasuke lifted up his hand to punch goku but stopped and sat down
"That's why you're a punk" kakashi's face turned serious and told them
"Are you guys underestimating Ninjas? Huh?"
"Why do you think you were divided into team and are doing this training?
"Huh? What does that mean?" Sakura questioned
"Basically you guys are not understanding the answer to this test"
"Answer?"
"Yes, The answer that helps you pass this test" kakashi told
"It's Teamwork, isn't it?" Goku questioned
"Yes that's right, you should've realized that earlier"
"what do you mean by team work? when there are only three bells and four of us"
"even if we work together and get the bells, one of us will still fail" Sakura angrily Asked
"of course! This test is purposely set-up to make you fight amongst yourselves. The purpose is to see whether you can forget about your own interests and successfully work together" kakashi answered
"Sakura instead of Naruto and Goku who were right next to, you were only thinking about Sasuke" Kakashi told
"And you Goku, You thought you were too confident in your abilities that you thought you would beat a jonin by yourself, and left your team to fend for themselves"
"Naruto you were just running around by yourself"
"Sasuke.. you just assumed the others would get in your way and tried to do everything yourself"
"The duties are done by the team, of course superior individual is important to a Ninja but what's even more important is team work"
"Individual play that disrupts the team can put your comrades in danger and even get you killed for example"
"Look at this, the numerous Names carved on this stone. These are Ninjas recognized as the hero's of the village" kakashi said walking up the stone
"Hey, I've decided to get my name carved on that stone too! Hero! That's what I'll become" Naruto replied
"But.. they aren't just normal heroes " kakashi said
"Oh yeah the. what kind of here's are the!?" Naruto said with a smile on his face
"They all are heroes who Died on duty." Naruto's smile dissolved into a face of regret
"This is a memorial. My best friend's name is also carved here" Their faces turned saddened as kakashi finished his words
"You guys I'll give you one more chance. But after lunch I'll make it even more difficult to get the bells"
"Those who still wish to challenge can eat but don't give any to Naruto" Kakashi said
"Huh?" Naruto added
"It's punishment for trying to eat by yourself. If anyone gives him any food They will fail immediately"
"I am the rules here" Kakashi told with a serious face" Kakashi then disappeared into thin air
"Heh! I don't need any food. I am Fine" Naruto shouted
The three opened their lunches, Sasuke and Sakura started eating, but goku just stared at food and turned his head around looking if kakashi was watching them.
He took out a kunai and cut the ropes freeing Naruto and he gave him his lunch.
"Hey, Goku- kun sensei just said"sakura told
"He isn't nearby, I don't sense him. Even if he sees me, I can't eat while my friend remains hungry"
"Goku" Naruto's eye almost teared up
"Come on, what are you waiting for eat it" Goku said
"I told you I'm not hungry" Naruto just finished his sentence and then his stomach loudly growled.
Naruto hesitantly took the lunch, just then sasuke also offered Naruto his lunch, seeing that sakura soon offered Naruto her lunch.
"Thanks you all are the best" Naruto said as he ate little bites from everyone's food.
"YOU GUYS!..." Kakashi suddenly appeared in front of them
Sakura screamed her lungs out, Naruto coughed up the food he was eating.
"...have passed" Kakashi finished his sentence
"Huh?" They all simultaneously said
"Pass? but, why? " Sakura questioned
"You guys are the first, everyone else would do whatever I told. They were all just morons" kakashi told them
"A Shinobi must see underneath the underneath. Those who break the rules and codes of Ninja world are called Trash..."
"But, you know what? Those who don't take care of their comrades are worse than trash"
"So cool" Naruto thought
"Ok starting tomorrow team #7 will begin it's duties" kakashi told them giving a thumbs up.
In the heart of a forest, The team 7 were hiding in the trees.
"what's the distance to the target" kakashi asked over a mic.
"Five meters"
"ok Go!"
Naruto jumped and caught the cat, Kakashi arrived and told
"Good, Lost pet 'Tora' Search mission complete"
In the village centre, at the Shinobi office,
The Fire country lord's Wife Madam shijmi and Tora hugged her cat and took it with her.
"Now.. Kakashi's team 7 your next duty is.. Hmmm.. Babysitting an elder's grandson in the neighboring village and help with the potato digging" The old Hokage told them
"No! No! No! no, thank you! I want to do, you know a more incredible mission find us a better one!" Naruto demanded
"I agree" Sasuke thought
"Geez, how annoying" Sakura
"finally" Goku told himself
"about time" Kakashi sighed
"Everyone starts off with the simple duties and works their way up" Iruka reprimanded
"But we keep getting the crappest possible duties" Naruto shouted back
"Be quiet you!" Kakashi told and hit Naruto on the head
"Naruto it seems I have to explain what these duties are all about. Listen everyday The village receives numerous requests from babysitting to assassination" Hokage explained
""Each request is written down on these lists and can be divided into an A, B, C, D. ranking based on difficulty."
"Furthermore, The village is also divided based on the skill starting with Me, hokage as the leader, The jounins, chunins and genin as elites, average and apprentice"
"Geez.. all you do is give lectures like that. But you know what? I'm not the trouble making brat you still think I am!"
The old man chuckled and said "ok if you want it that much I'll give you a C-rank mission it's a protection mission of a certain individual"
"YAY!"
"Who?! Who?! A feudal lord? A princess" Naruto questioned
"calm down I am about to introduce him. Hey will you come in" The Sandaime told
The door opened revealing an old man and he said "what's this, they are all a bunch of stupid brats"
"Especially the shortest one with the stupid looking face. are you really a ninja Hey!"
Naruto looked around "who's the shortest one with the stupid face" realize he was talking about him
"I'LL KILL YOU!" Naruto screamed
"what's the point of kill the person you're supposed to protect. Idiot!" kakashi told and grabbed Naruto's back collar.
"I am the super expert bridge builder, Tazuna. I expect you to provide me protection until I get back to my country and complete the bridge" The old man said
At the village gate,
"Let's go!" Naruto shouted with his hands in the air
"what are you so excited about?" Tazuna questioned Naruto
"Cause I've never left the village before"
"..Hey! am I really going to be safe with this brat?
"Haha.. Well I am a jounin don't worry" Kakashi assured him
well that's it for now, some of you likely disagree with how i scale goku but it's almost impossible to properly scale goku without completely changing the plot. I need some suggestions on how i should introduce ki and dragonball attacks for goku
